Schofield asked: “We’ve heard so many stories, testing catastrophes, who’s doing the numbers?

“How many people, how quickly after getting a test do you get the results back?”

Hancock replied: “230,000, that’s people. Capacity over a quarter of a million and the majority get them back the next day, the vast majority get them back in 48 hours.”

Addressing Operation Moonshot, Schofield continued: “Moonshot whatever the hell that meant.

Will Arrow’s Deathstroke Kill William? ‘JJ Is Willing to Do Whatever He Needs’ https://briefnews.eu/will-arrows-deathstroke-kill-william-jj-is-willing-to-do-whatever-he-needs/ https://briefnews.eu/will-arrows-deathstroke-kill-william-jj-is-willing-to-do-whatever-he-needs/#respond Sun, 27 Oct 2019 21:59:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/will-arrows-deathstroke-kill-william-jj-is-willing-to-do-whatever-he-needs/

RELATED STORIES

Arrow‘s 2040 timeline has revealed its own Deathstroke, and beneath the marauder’s mask is the face of no less than John Diggle and Lyla Michaels’ biological son, John Jr. aka JJ. How did the apple fall so far from the tree? And is JJ truly ruthless enough to slay Mia’s brother William or any other member of Future Team Arrow — stepbrother Connor (Joseph David-Jones) included?

The second episode of Arrow‘s farewell run left us with that question, as JJ aimed to “rip the heart out” of the Unification movement by targeting its members, William (Ben Lewis) included. TVLine spoke with Chicago Fire alum Charlie Barnett, who plays grown-up JJ, about what’s to come and the blood to be spilled.

TVLINE | So, JJ is stone-cold.
He’s pretty hard, you know. He’s been through a lot.

TVLINE | Were you familiar with Arrow‘s Diggle and Lyla? And if so, were you surprised to that see JJ fell so far from noble tree?
You know, I went back and watched a lot [of previous seasons]… but … from knowing life, from knowing people, no, I’m not surprised. People who grew up in homes, they sometimes feel like they missed out on something or were given a disservice, so I’m not surprised to see him turn into a complicated or “villainous” person.

TVLINE | Connor explained to Mia that his parents had been focused on him, their adopted son, and so JJ lost out.
He definitely did. Connor was adopted and came from his own complicated situation, and that kind of weight — I’m adopted myself, so I know from experience — can be really difficult, and it manifests in very different ways for each person. As a child who maybe didn’t necessarily ask for another brother or a sister but received it and was happy to have it, to see then you kind of get “forgotten” within the fold, because of the actions of this new family member…? A twisted result can come from it.

Really, we have to remember that JJ is at this point just trying to show them that there is another side to this story, as much as people are labeling him a “villain.” As Charlie the actor playing the part, I don’t see him as a villain; I see him as being given the short end of the stick. Look at Green Arrow, who is such an interesting character because he’s not a perfect hero. He’s not Superman.

JJ at his core is trying to make a voice for the people who have been dealt a sh–ty hand or had a sh–ty situation — maybe they lost someone, due to these people. He’s just trying to make that voice heard. Now, maybe he’s doing it in a bad way…. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Speaking of that, when he threatens to have William killed, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much did he mean that?
Oh, whole-heartedly 10. He’s willing to do whatever he needs. He has been pushed and he’s been pulled for many, many years in his life. In the backstory I have in my mind, he and Connor were friends, they were brothers, and they were tight. And at some point in their adulthood, JJ started to see what he had lost out on and what Connor had gained in retrospect. Look at the fact that Connor is working with his dad so closely, and JJ was never given that opportunity. It makes his blood boil just thinking about it.

the spinoff’s backdoor pilot. Are you a part of that?
Oh yeah.

TVLINE | Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas once told us he hoped to have you back one day. [Barnett played Peter Mills for the first three seasons of the NBC drama.] Has there been any talk of a guest spot?
Tell him to call me! [Laughs] I should give him a call. They’re doing great over there, the numbers are sticking up there.

TVLINE | Dawson and Casey are now split up, and when you left, Mills told Dawson to look him up if anything changes. Could they maybe now be together? [Monica Raymund last appeared as Dawson in this season’s premiere.]
Look, I’ve known Monica since I was 13, 12 years old, strangely enough, so she’s more like a sister to me, even though we had to make out on TV. [Laughs] I love her to death and we have joked about building our own little Chicago spinoff, where Dawson and Mills find their way to Puerto Rico and start their own firehouse down there.

TVLINE | Chicago Puerto Rico!
Chicago Puerto Rico! I would be more than happy to return. I love the show, it brought me [Arrow], everything I have. It was an incredible window in my career.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A shutdown affecting parts of the federal government appeared no closer to resolution Wednesday, with President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats locked in a hardening standoff over border wall money that threatens to carry over into January.

Trump vowed to hold the line, telling reporters as he flew to Iraq that he’ll do “whatever it takes” to get money for border security. He declined to say how much he would accept in a deal to end the shutdown, stressing the need for border security.

‘Death House’ Trailer: Welcome to the Area 51 of Evil, Whatever That Means https://briefnews.eu/death-house-trailer-welcome-to-the-area-51-of-evil-whatever-that-means/ https://briefnews.eu/death-house-trailer-welcome-to-the-area-51-of-evil-whatever-that-means/#respond Fri, 19 Oct 2018 06:37:04 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/death-house-trailer-welcome-to-the-area-51-of-evil-whatever-that-means/ death house trailer

Are you ready to journey to the Area 51 of evil? I sure as hell hope so, because here comes Death House! Featuring a cast that will be very familiar to horror aficionados and written by Gunnar Hansen, the man who played Leatherface, Death House is set in a secret prison full of murderous inmates. Watch the Death House trailer below, if you dare!

Death House Trailer

Let’s look at the cast of Death House, shall we? Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo, The Howling), Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Bill Moseley (House of a 1000 Corpses), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Danny Trejo (Machete), Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), Camille Keaton (I Spit on Your Grave), Tony Todd (Candyman) and more all appear here. That line-up is like a who’s-who of old school horror actors, and that alone might be enough to get people curious about this.

But then those curious people might watch this trailer and change their minds, quickly. To be blunt, this does not look great. But horror movie fans are a forgiving lot. More often than not, with horror fans, it’s the thought that counts, not the execution.

Now let’s look at the rather lengthy synopsis of Death House:

The Death House is the Area 51 of Evil… a subterranean government facility that holds humanity’s worst on nine levels. Hell, Dante’s ninth level, holds the Five Evils… the “dark stars” of Death House. These individuals are so heinous they can never walk among society again. They may also be supernatural.

Agents Toria Boon and Jae Novak have their own dark pasts, arriving at Death House to tour its levels and observe its denizens first-hand as well as the medical and mental experiments of Drs. Eileen Fletcher and Karen Redmane. Their depraved experiments date back to the Nazi doctors of WWII.

Prison cells are virtual reality holo decks that recreate prisoner environments before they were incarcerated. A special hallucinogenic gas keeps inmates under control. The victims are homeless, bused into Death House to play literal victims while killing habits are studied. The results are sick, but only a hint of what goes on here.

Hell literally breaks loose inside the facility when an EMP device detonates, killing all power and communication and… releasing every prisoner. Boon, Novak, and Fletcher are caught in a race against advancing prisoner hordes led by occultist Neo-Nazi Sieg. The monsters are freed, and they’re going down.

Boon and Novak’s fight through Death House turns into a house of horrors gauntlet; their only hope of escape is descending into Hell and enlisting the help of the Five Evils. Events culminate in a violent face-to-face standoff with absolute evil… only to find that they have traveled down a rabbit hole and through a looking glass. Black is white and white is black and the definitions of good and evil no longer apply.

Who are the monsters? Who will escape?

There’s a lot going on here! Monsters, Neo-Nazis, hallucinogenics! There’s enough packed into this synopsis to make any season of American Horror Story blush. Death House is being dubbed “The Expendables of the horror genre,” and to drive that point home, the official poster features a logo clearly borrowed from the Expendables logo.

X Factor 2018: Sharon Osbourne says Simon Cowell will 'do whatever it takes' to get on TV https://briefnews.eu/x-factor-2018-sharon-osbourne-says-simon-cowell-will-do-whatever-it-takes-to-get-on-tv/ https://briefnews.eu/x-factor-2018-sharon-osbourne-says-simon-cowell-will-do-whatever-it-takes-to-get-on-tv/#respond Wed, 05 Sep 2018 14:45:41 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/x-factor-2018-sharon-osbourne-says-simon-cowell-will-do-whatever-it-takes-to-get-on-tv/

Sharon acted as a judge on the X Factor for 2004 to 2007, again in 2013 before taking a break to return in 2016.

This year she’s set to join the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell in the live shows, but ahead of that she’s commented on her boss.

In an appearance on a US radio show with Howard Stern, the 65-year-old said the mogul would do “whatever it takes” to get “his f*****g fat face on the TV”.

However, she did go on to say: “I like Simon, he’s been very good to me but he’s a pain in the a**e.”

Howard went on to ask if she would save himself or Simon on a sinking boat.

Sharon exclaimed: ”We would put a f***ing brick around his neck and throw him over. I will drown you mother f****r. Absolute…he’s gone.”

The current judges on the X Factor are Louis Tomlinson and husband-and-wife team Ayda Field and Robbie Williams.

It was reported that Ayda and Robbie had been signed up for a joint deal of £10 million.

Simon went on to describe it as “the best £10 million [he’d] ever spent”.

Sharon went on to criticise the pay check compared to her own as she said: ”So Simon I have a clause in my contract in my contract ‘favoured nations’.

“Simon goes to the press and goes this is the best £10 million I have ever spent.

“So I go, ‘I have favoured nations, where is my f***ing £10million? I have a clause. I am a businesswoman.”

Sharon also denied rumours that her own fee was £1 million as she declared: “I am not f*****g doing it for a million. It is a principle – you want me you have to pay what I am worth.

“And the thing is these networks aren’t used to it. Because people are always half way up their a*** for a gig. And at my age I won’t f*****g beg.”

The mother-of-three also spoke on why she wasn’t contracted to appear at the auditions stage of the competitions.

Asked why her contract changed this year so she didn’t appear at the auditions, she blasted: “Oh f*** I don’t have to have those kids singing in my face.

“Those little s***s. They all suck. It is like hey is this f*****g karaoke or what?”

Sharon also commented on the addition of Robbie and Ayda to the judging panel.

She said: “Listen to this he has got two f*****g people in the show. He has changed the panel. Robbie Williams, he’s a good guy, and he has got his wife on.”

Howard then asked “what does she know?”, to which Sharon replied: “I don’t know. She was in a soap opera here years ago.”

It seemed Sharon was willing to joke about her future on the show as she went on to ask Howard: “Are you giving me a job when I get the f*****g sack?”

The X Factor returns on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV.

Whatever happened to Pan Yan pickle? — THE SATURDAY BRIEFING https://briefnews.eu/whatever-happened-to-pan-yan-pickle-the-saturday-briefing/ https://briefnews.eu/whatever-happened-to-pan-yan-pickle-the-saturday-briefing/#respond Sat, 31 Mar 2018 00:29:28 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/whatever-happened-to-pan-yan-pickle-the-saturday-briefing/

Chris Evans tried to bring back Pan Yan pickleALAMY STOCK / BBC

Chris Evans tried to bring back Pan Yan pickle

Q: When I was growing up I really enjoyed Pan Yan pickle. When did they stop making it and why?

ML Robinson, Ringwood, Hampshire

A: Pan Yan pickle was an apple and curry-based relish originally registered by the Maconochie Brothers company in Lowestoft, Suffolk, in 1903. They asked their London workers for a name which captured the oriental taste of the new pickle and Pan Yan was chosen.

By 1924 Pan Yan had become the world’s highest selling pickle. Under different owners it continued to be made until 2000 when it was discontinued owing to falling sales. In 2008 an appeal by the Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans for the pickle’s return led to a sheepish admission from the brand’s owner, Premier Foods, that the secret recipe for Pan Yan had been destroyed in a warehouse fire four years earlier.

But various attempts have been made since then to reconstruct it from the list of ingredients on an old jar.

Q: The expression “coffin-nails” for cigarettes was used by PG Wodehouse in his book Piccadilly Jim, published in the UK in 1918. When was the term first used and on what basis and why did it take the authorities so long to react?

Brian Hubka, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

A: The first use of “coffin-nails” dates back to 1888 in an American collection called Texas Siftings but suspicions about the ill effects of tobacco went back much further. In 1602 an anonymous English author writing about illnesses among chimney sweeps caused by soot suggested tobacco may be similarly harmful and, in the 1790s, a German doctor suggested cancer of the lip among pipesmokers might be tobacco related.

The first suggestions smoking was related to lung cancer began to appear in the 1920s but even as late as 1960 surveys suggested that this view was by no means universal, even among doctors. The reason the authorities took so long to act can be put down to a combination of the lack of definite proof and a reluctance to give up the huge tax revenues tobacco products brought in.

Even now smoking brings in more than £12billion a year in direct taxation in the UK.

Q: My wife and I have often used a saying without knowing its meaning, can you help? Our cat likes to hide in a gap between the kitchen units and we often say that he’s in his “cubby hole”. What is this originally?

Martin Richmond, Falkirk, Scotland

A: According to the Oxford English Dictionary, “cubbyhouse” and “cubby-holes” are mid-19th century derivatives of an older word “cub” (originally 16th century) which meant: “a stall, pen or shed for cattle; also a coop or hutch”. Other meanings include “A crib for fodder; a chest, bin or other receptacle”. The OED doesn’t specifically mention a cat hideaway between kitchen units but that sounds as good a cubby-hole as any.

Q: Why are two consecutive numbers so often seen on lottery draws?

Vivienne Brimson, Carlton Colville, Suffolk

A: It turns out surprisingly that there are almost as many possible ways of drawing the lottery numbers that produce two consecutive numbers and those that don’t. When there were only 49 numbers in the National Lottery draw, there was a 49.5 per cent chance that two consecutive numbers would be drawn.

When the number of balls was increased to 59, that figure went down to 42.7 per cent. To be precise, there are 45,057,474 ways to draw six numbers from 49 of which 25,827,165 do not include a pair of consecutive numbers.

Q: Please can you tell me the song which finishes, “The pessimistic character with the crab apple face”?

Morag Smellie, Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland

A: Amazingly it is called The Pessimistic Character (With The Crab Apple Face). It was sung by Bing Crosby in the 1940 musical comedy film If I Had My Way, with music by James V Monaco and lyrics by Johnny Burke.

Q: If it were possible to remove from the world’s oceans all the shipwrecks and sunken planes how would it affect the depth of the water and shorelines?

R Rhead, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire

A: It would make only the tiniest difference. According to a recent calculation removing all the world’s ships from our seas and oceans would result in a drop in sea level only slightly more than a thread of spider silk.

The total weight of all the world’s shipping amounts to about 2.15 billion tons; the weight of all the water in the oceans is about 1,450 million billion tons – so you might say that all the ships, sunken or not, amount to no more than a drop in the ocean.

The first and second worlds refer to the Cold WarGETTY

The first and second worlds referred to the Cold War divisions between East and West

Q: We hear a good deal about the “Third World” which I presume refers to the world’s poorer nations but rarely or never does anyone mention a “First World” or “Second World”. Are there any criteria as to which countries would belong to each of these?

Patric Cornner, Tunbridge Wells, Kent

A: The term “Third World” was coined in 1952 by the French historian Alfred Sauvy to describe the world’s political divisions. In the Cold War era, the First World was the UK, USA and our allies, the Second World was the USSR, China and other communist countries and Sauvy’s Third World was unaligned nations in neither communist nor capitalist blocs. The term Third World has changed its meaning, referring to developing nations, but no precise definition has ever been agreed.

Sauvy’s original terminology was a reference to the “Third Estate” of Revolutionary France, fighting against the First Estate of clergy and the Second Estate of nobles.

'I post whatever I feel like on Instagram' – UFC's Alexandra Albu (PHOTOS) https://briefnews.eu/i-post-whatever-i-feel-like-on-instagram-ufcs-alexandra-albu-photos/ https://briefnews.eu/i-post-whatever-i-feel-like-on-instagram-ufcs-alexandra-albu-photos/#respond Tue, 16 Jan 2018 18:11:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/i-post-whatever-i-feel-like-on-instagram-ufcs-alexandra-albu-photos/

UFC strawweight Alexandra ‘Stitch’ Albu might not be the most famous name representing Russia, but that could change as she continues to work her way up the promotion and catch the eye with her revealing Instagram photos.

The 27-year-old native of the Moldovan village of Vulcănești, Albu, made her debut in the UFC octagon in April 2015, beating her opponent from Poland, Izabela Badurek, via guillotine choke.

She then took a two-year break forced by an injury. Coming back in July 2017, she scored another victory, this time via unanimous decision, when taking part on the star-stacked UFC 214 card.

But fighting alongside the stars did not distract Albu, who adopted her fighting moniker ‘Stitch’ from a popular cartoon character.

You last fought on the UFC 214 card in the summer. That was a pretty impressive card: a top fight with Jon Jones against Cormier, Chris Cyborg, Tyron Woodley. How did you find participating on that card with such outstanding fighters?

I was thinking about my performance and the weight cut before the fight, I didn’t pay attention to the other things. When you are about to take part in an event you’ve been preparing for for such a long time, you don’t pay too much attention to the other things. Although one thing that I remember was the fact that my coach couldn’t come to the States. He had some visa problems. And it was quite difficult for me to fight without him cornering me.

At the end of December Cris Cyborg defended her belt. How would you rate her performance?

I’ve always liked Cris. Plus we know each other personally. I had no doubts she was going to defend her belt.

Do you see anyone who could potentially take her belt in the near future?

Women’s MMA is gaining momentum really fast and it’s becoming more and more popular. Women’s divisions are getting bigger, and of course some sort of competition will occur.

Recently in your own weight class we witnessed a change in champion, when Rose Namajunas defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Were you surprised with the outcome of that fight?

It didn’t surprise me. Rose is also very strong and a tough fighter, she worked very hard and now it’s her time.

Do you see yourself fighting against Joanna or Rose in the future? Who in your opinion would present the most problems for you?

Yes, I see myself fighting against both of them. We are all in the same weight category, so it’s inevitable. It’s only a matter of time. Talking about their level, I can say that all the fights are tough for me. Fighting is a pretty tough job, you know.

Do you know roughly when you’ll be back in the octagon?

I suppose it will happen this spring. For the next fight after that I can’t really predict anything.

We know that originally you come from Moldova, but at the moment you live in Moscow and represent Russia. Do have plans to obtain Russian citizenship?

Yes, I’m still a Moldavian citizen, but I’d like to get a Russian passport. That’s what I’m working on now, but unfortunately it’s not as easy as it might seem.

Could you tell us about the moment you decided to start practicing MMA? We know that you practiced karate originally.

I decided to become a professional MMA fighter after I moved to Russia. I met Andrey Tsarkov, the head coach of the MMA-KEGI fight club, which I represent now. I’d been thinking a lot about my previous martial arts experience, and I didn’t want to just waste all that time that I’d spent learning it. However, MMA is absolutely different. You can’t really compare it with karate. So it took me a few years to hard work and to learn how to fight differently, I had to change my stance, striking technique, and many other things.

Some time ago you said that you combined two training sessions per day with coaching work. Do you still work as a coach?

Yes, I have to combine my work and two training sessions a day. It’s pretty difficult, I always want to sleep. When I have my rest days I can allow myself to combine work and just one training session.

Do you think it’s partially connected with the fact that it’s difficult for a female fighter to find sponsorship in Russia?

Finding sponsorship isn’t easy indeed. Usually it doesn’t go further than talks. I don’t know whether it’s more difficult for girls, there are not so many examples. But this sport is still developing, so I hope that one day it will be become better.

Male fighters often receive financial support by joining certain teams, and then representing them. Did you get any offers of that kind?

No, I haven’t had such offers. But I’m not interested, since I have no intention of changing team. I’ve been with the MMA-KEGI team from day one, and I’m happy to be a part of it.

And what about advertising? Some female fighters get extra money from that. Have you ever received any offers?

Speaking about advertising, yes, I had several offers from commercial companies and we even came to agreements.

On your Instagram profile you have quite provocative photos and videos. Is that your strategy? Something that you do purposely?

You know, I don’t have anyone doing my social media for me. So my Instagram depends on my mood. I’m a live human being. I post whatever I feel should be on my page. I don’t see the point of checking with someone else’s opinion. I suppose that visual attractiveness has an impact on a female fighter’s popularity.

What other difficulties does a female fighter face doing MMA professionally?

I can’t say anything certain about it. The hardest part is the same for everyone, actually. Just the everyday hard work at the gym.

The Arecibo Observatory may be suffering along with the rest of Puerto Rico, but some of its data made a big appearance in last week’s edition of Nature. The data comes from the only object of its type we’ve identified yet: a repeating source of fast radio bursts. And, while the new observations don’t definitively tell us what’s creating the bursts, they do suggest that whatever it is, it’s buried in an extremely energetic cloud of material that’s generating some of the most intense magnetic fields we’ve yet found in the Universe. So intense, in fact, that if the source of the magnetic field is a black hole, then it is as massive as 10,000 Suns.

What is that?

A bit over a decade ago, we didn’t even know that fast radio bursts existed. Then a radiotelescope accidentally captured a sudden spike of immense energy that vanished within an instant. That might be dismissed as a hardware glitch, except the observatory eventually caught a few more; over time, dedicated searches revealed that fast radio bursts are a regular, if rare, phenomenon.

The amount of energy produced in a fast radio burst typically comes from a cataclysmic event, one that destroys its source. And indeed, there was no indication of a second burst from any of these sources—but no sign of anything interesting at their location in any other wavelength. The source of fast radio bursts remained a mystery.

Sharing too much information on Facebook can have dire consequences

Social media is an incredibly useful tool when it comes to keeping in-touch with distant relatives and friends at Christmas.

But be wary of the data you share on social networks like , Twitter and Instagram.

Sharing a little too much could have disastrous consequences.

#1 – Leaving Home For Christmas

It’s brilliant that you’ve been invited to stay with friends and family over the festive period.

However, there’s absolutely no need to advertise the fact that your house will be unattended over the holidays on social media sites like Facebook.

“Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter can be a risk if people know you are away and your home is empty,” police officers recently warned homeowners.

“Just because you are on holiday, does not mean burglars are taking time off too, and if you looks like you are away, then your home could become a target.

“The force is urging everyone to check their holiday security before they go away and ensure their holiday is one to remember for the right reasons.”

It's easy to fall into the habit of sharing every thought online, but beware of the consequencesGETTY

It’s easy to fall into the habit of sharing every thought online, but beware of the consequences

And unless you’re speaking to a small group of friends inside Facebook Messenger, your status and posts are available for all of your friends to see.

People can then copy and paste or screenshot these posts and share with people you might not know or trust.

#2 – Be Careful With Location Data

Location data is incredibly useful – it allows your smartphone to map out your photo collection across a map of the world, lets you follow directions on Google Maps, and helps friends track you down you in a busy city centre.

Popular social networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter let users tie their photographs, statuses and posts to a specific location.

Again, if you are sharing an update or photo about your delicious Christmas dinner – in a post tagged in another country, you can unintentionally reveal that your house has been left unattended.

There have been a number of cases in which criminals have been able to determine where victims lived based on the geolocation data linked with the majority of their photos.

And remember – Twitter is a public social network.

Unlike Facebook, the default settings mean your profile page, tweets, images and videos are all public and searchable by anyone – even those who do not have an account with the site.

#3 – Don’t Advertise That You’re Worth Robbing

Don’t use your social media accounts to brag about your new Ultra HD 4K television set, video game console, surround sound system or other new gadgets and goodies.

For the same reason you shouldn’t leave your car keys visible from the outside of your house, or leave valuable jewellery by the window – you need to be careful what you advertise on your social media account.

It’s worth checking your Facebook privacy tools, too. The US social network firm recently announced it had indexed some two trillion posts.

Searching through the slew of text or photo updates, video posts, shared articles and comments shared on Facebook each and every day is now an easy task.

And any public post or update you published in the past is now eligible for public search, similar to social network rival Twitter.

#4 – Home Alone, or Vulnerable

It’s easy to fall into the habit of sharing your every thought, musing or update from your personal or professional life on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

But a simple status about being bored that you have to spend the evening home alone again, or a quick-fire tweet about a troublesome landlord who still hasn’t fixed the broken lock on your bedroom windows – could quickly land you in hot water.

Just because you are on holiday, does not mean burglars are taking time off too

It might sound paranoid, but it’s always worth considering the worst case scenario before you post a new status, tweet or Instagram snap.

If the information is online – it suddenly becomes dangerously easy to copy or share around. Beware of the sum of all your updates or social media activity, too.

A couple of Instagram photos about your brand-new TV and pricey new necklace, coupled with an angry tweet about the broken windows and a Facebook status geotagged with your home address could be disastrous.

WeKnowWhatYoureDoing.com – which has since been shutdown – was a website that scraped public Facebook updates, formatted and presented the data for easy consumption.

Data was sorted into a series of columns including Who Wants To Get Fired?, which contained statuses and posts from people complaint about their job or boss, Who’s Taking Drugs?, populated with public posts which referenced illegal substance, Who’s Got A New Phone Number?, which the site filled with statuses from people sharing a recently-updated phone number.

Each of these posts was linked back to the person’s Facebook account, which contains personal information including your home address, contact information, date and place of birth, linked family members and job title.

WeKnowWhatYoureDoing.com creator Callum Haywood published the website to raise awareness.

In the site’s FAQ, he responds to the question “These people probably wouldn’t want this info publishing, would they?” like this, “Probably not  – but it was their choice, or lack of, with regards to their account privacy settings.”

#5 – Be Particularly Careful When Posting About Others, Or Vulnerable Individuals

You might be more than happy to share photographs of yourself surrounded by gifts, out carolling with fiends or enjoying a drink by the fire in a hearty rural pub with family.

But that does not mean everyone in the photo or mentioned in the Facebook status wants to be identified.

It’s always worth spending a second to consider the people you are implicating in your own social media update.

It’s bad enough if you share that your front door lock is broken, or that you are spending Christmas away from home with family – but its even worse if another family member does it for you.

Children are particularly vulnerable – so avoid tagging them or sharing images with location data or other identifying features, such as a school uniform with the logo or name emblazoned on the chest.

And consider others when you choose the privacy settings for a particular post.

If your family members are more sensitive to sharing details of their activities across social media, then avoid tweeting or publishing a publicly available Instagram image.
