  • Rep. Nancy Mace says there's "a lot of pressure" on Republicans to impeach President Biden.
  • On NBC's Meet The Press, Mace said impeachment is being considered by some in the GOP.
  • She told host Chuck Todd that if the party chooses to hold a vote, she believes it will be divisive.

Rep. Nancy Mace says there's pressure on Republicans to vote to impeach President Biden if the party wins the midterms and gains control of the House. 

Mace was on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday, speaking with host Chuck Todd who asked: "Do you expect an impeachment vote against President Biden if Republicans take over the House?"

The South Carolina congresswoman answered, "there's a lot of pressure on Republicans to have that vote, to put that legislation forward. I think that is something that some folks are considering."

To which Todd responded, simply: "Wow."

On Wednesday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said a GOP-majority Congress might try to impeach the president every week. Kinzinger was referring to Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has made impeaching Biden part of her official platform.

Last year, several Republicans filed impeachment articles criticizing Biden's withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, his immigration policies, and his administration's eviction moratorium.

When asked by Todd how she would vote if impeachment was on the floor, Mace said she would look at the evidence and vote constitutionally. 

"I will not vote for impeachment of any president if I feel that due process has been stripped away for anyone," she told Todd. 

Mace said if the party chooses to hold this vote, she believes it will be divisive. "Which is why I pushed back on it personally when I hear folks saying they're going to file articles of impeachment in the House," she said.

While Mace voted against impeaching former President Donald Trump, she was critical of his role on January 6, telling CNN that Trump's "entire legacy was wiped out" in the aftermath of the Capitol riots.

Before January 6, Mace was a supporter of Trump's and even worked for his campaign in 2016.

During the interview with NBC, Todd asked the congresswoman if she would back Trump's presidential bid in 2024.

"I'm going to support whomever Republicans nominate in '24," she said.

Representatives for Mace did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

After Lady Leshurr and Myleene Klass took to the ice to try and keep their place in the ITV skating contest, it was left up to the judges as to which star would remain on Dancing on Ice. However, following the skate-off, it was Myleene and pro partner Lukasz who were sent packing in emotional scenes.

But it’s fair to say the decision to send Myleene hasn’t sat well with a number of ITV viewers.

Several Dancing on Ice fans were left fuming that Myleene and Lady Leshurr were the two who faced the skate-off in the first place.

Taking to Twitter following the Dancing on Ice exit, one vented: “Ludicrous. Neither of them should even have been in the skate-off. Beyond ridiculous that Myleene is out. #DancingOnIce.”

A second echoed: “Travesty that Myleene was in the bottom though. Last week it should have been Jason [Donovan], this week it should have been Billie [Shepherd] #DancingOnIce.”

A third added to the debate: “Myleene was not the worst tonight and didn’t deserve to be in the skate-off!! And now we’re deprived of Lucasz too #DOI.”

While a fourth added: “I don’t think anyone would have guessed Myleene would be out first. #DancingOnIce.”

Despite her early exit, Myleene remained gracious in defeat as she thanked Lukasz for their time together on the show.

And while her exit may have seemed premature to some, the leaderboard had hinted at a possible farewell after she failed to impress the judges earlier in the show.

Myleene’s departure was a result of all four judges unanimously voting to send Lady Leshurr through to the next round. 

But speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield following the decision, Myleene remained in high spirits. 

After receiving a standing ovation, Myleene said: “Can I just say, I couldn’t have done this obviously without Lukasz, without my family, without my friends.

“I mean, I’d never skated before and now I’ve got a skill I learnt in lockdown, who’d have thought it?” she added.

Myleene went onto mention how she’ll be hitting the ice rink once they open beyond lockdown with “a coffee” ready for her partner.

And signing off her farewell, the Dancing on Ice star continued: “To everybody, to all the skaters to everyone, to the whole team,

“It’s not been an easy production to put together in lockdown so – I feel really chuffed. It’s probably the most relaxed I’ve been in the whole competition.”

But which celebrity will be following in Myleene’s footsteps next week?

Presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway returned to Good Morning Britain today alongside news reporter Charlotte Hawkins for the latest edition of the ITV programme.

Appearing via video link, Jo was eager to put her point across after being made the new leader of the Liberal Democrat party, and all her attentions have turned to Brexit.

“I totally accept that there are differences of opinion and strong views on this issue,” she began. “And I’m standing up for what I believe is right, for what I think is the UK’s best future, which is within the European Union.

“I’m not going to stop arguing for what I believe in.”

“And I think what we’re proposing here is fundamentally a democratic exercise,” the party member continued. “It is to have a peoples’ vote on the specific Brexit deal, because there was no specific Brexit deal in 2016.

“‘Brexit means Brexit’ was the meaningless phrase that we heard in the aftermath of the referendum and even now, three years on, the Brexiteers can’t agree on what Brexit means.”

Swinson’s claims were founded on the idea the people voting on whether to remain or leave the European Union in 2016 didn’t really “know” what they were voting for – as it was very early in the process.

Former Prime Minister Theresa May didn’t begin negotiating with the EU until after the vote was revealed.

“I don’t have any confidence that the majority in the United Kingdom [are] for any specific form of Brexit,” the guest went on.

“You’ve got people who say they couldn’t possibly have Theresa May’s deal they’d rather stay in the EU. And you’ve got others who say they don’t want a hard or no deal Brexit.

“So if we don’t have confidence that there’s a majority for any specific Brexit, how could we possibly go ahead with that course of action without checking with the British people first?” Swinson added.

Taking to Twitter however, viewers shared their feelings over the politician’s comments, with many confused and insisting they did know what they were voting for.

“Who voted in 2016? Weren’t they people then???” one frustrated person asked.

Another offered: “We had a people’s vote, it’s just that people like this woman only want democracy as long as any result suits them.”

“Your opinion is meaningless and goes against the democratic will of everyone in the UK,” a third slammed. “Losers of a referendum must accept the majority view or we lose democracy – that which holds this country together.”

A fourth accused: “Why would she respect the result of another vote, she doesn’t respect the last one. Why can’t she just be honest and say she wants to stay in the EU Empire.”

“The people already voted we voted Brexit so get over it and get on with it,” a fifth ordered.

And another exclaimed: “It’s not about what YOU want or what YOU think is best…..It’s what the COUNTRY voted for!”

“We already had a people’s vote, we leave end of. I wasn’t lied to I knew what I was voting for,” one viewer added.

Set in the middle of the jungle, with views of a valley, and surrounded by a rainforest: How could a resort like that offer anything but spectacular views?

The Hanging Gardens of Bali were recently awarded the title of “the most stunning views” by the Boutique Hotel Awards.

The resort was completed in 2005 and is built into a mountainside with a 45-degree slope. It consists of 44 villas.

The Boutique Hotel Awards are in their eighth year. According to their website, nominations are made by industry experts, luxury hotel journalists, and self-nominations. This year, winners were selected from more than 300 nominations across 80 countries. It’s also the first year the awards have included a “most stunning views” category.

Also up for consideration in the same category were five other hotels in Sri Lanka, Belize, Mexico, Kenya, and Spain, respectively.

The resort joins a host of other popular destinations across the island of Bali, including a pool that’s become so popular the resort recently chose to ban the use of electronics as part of an “In The Moment” movement, and the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, where tourists pay $ 3 to risk wild monkeys stealing their phones and jewelry.

  • Taiwan woke up on Sunday morning a very different island, following a series of political blows that dashed hopes of moving towards legalizing same-sex marriage.
  • Last year, Taiwan’s highest court ruled that same-sex couples had the right to legally marry, and set a two-year deadline for legalization. The move seemingly set Taiwan on the path to becoming the first country in Asia to legalize marriage equality.

  • President Tsai Ing-wen also resigned as party leader of the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after it suffered a major electoral defeat.

Following a series of referendums listed on the ballot for Saturday’s island-wide city mayoral elections, Taiwanese residents voted to reject same-sex marriage. 

The vote on the contested island that China considers a breakaway province has also led to the resignation of President Tsai Ing-wen from the pro-Independence ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP,  民進黨 ), after her fierce rivals at the China-friendly Nationalist Party, or Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨), won a number of key seats.

  • Canada’s parliament on Thursday voted to strip Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi of her honorary Canadian citizenship as part of the country’s crackdown of global human-rights violators. 
  • Suu Kyi had been granted the symbolic citizenship in 2007 in recognition for the way she addressed the mistreatment of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, which led to some 700,000 people fleeing the country’s Rakhine state.
  • She has since fallen out of favor with the international community, due in part to her most recent public statements about two Reuters journalists jailed in Myanmar. Earlier this month, Suu Kyi admitted that she could have done better Rohingya crisis could have been dealt with “better.”
  • Canada has gotten serious about holding human-rights abusers to account across the world. In August, the country called out Saudi Arabia for arresting several prominent human rights activists.

Canada’s parliament on Thursday unanimously voted to strip Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi of her honorary Canadian citizenship as part of the country’s crackdown of global human-rights violators. 

Suu Kyi’s symbolic citizenship was granted in 2007. The parliament’s move must now be approved by the country’s Senate.

After the award was announced, FIFA revealed who had voted for whom – with Messi and Ronaldo having a say as captains of their respective national teams.

Messi opted for eventual winner Modric as his top pick, placing France and PSG teen star Kylian Mbappe second and Ronaldo third.

Ronaldo picked Real Madrid defender and former teammate Raphael Varane as his top choice, followed by Modric and then Atletico Madrid’s French star Antoine Griezmann.      

Top choices were awarded five points in the vote, with second and third gaining three points and one point respectively.

Croatia skipper Modric plumped for Varane as number one, Ronaldo as number two, and Griezmann as his third choice.  

To determine the overall winner, players’ votes were combined with picks from the national coaches of FIFA Member Associations, media representatives from those countries, and fans.

Modric, 33, picked up the award in recognition of his efforts in captaining Croatia to their first ever World Cup final in Russia this summer, as well as helping Real Madrid to a third consecutive Champions League title in Kiev in May.

Neither Messi nor Ronaldo were on hand to see the playmaker collect the award, as both missed the glitzy bash in London citing other commitments.

Elsewhere on the night, Liverpool’s Mo Salah won the Puskas Award for goal of the year – as voted for by fans – causing incredulity among some as it was on a list containing stunning overhead kicks from Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, as well as the World Cup goal of the tournament from French defender Benjamin Pavard.

French World Cup-winning manager Didier Deschamps picked up the men’s coach of the year accolade, while Brazil star Marta was named women’s player of the year and Frenchman Reynald Pedros won best women’s coach of the year.
