Show of hands: Who else had the biggest grin on their face when AFC Richmond clubhouse attendant Nate was promoted to assistant coach in the opening scene of Friday’s Ted Lasso? It was one of a handful of feel-good moments in a season finale that took viewers on quite the emotional journey.
Episode 10 saw Richmond go up against former teammate Jamie Tartt and rival club Manchester City in a climatic match. At risk of relegation, Ted was determined to take his team to victory, as unlikely a scenario as that seemed. First, he had Nate rile up the players with press box footage of Jamie trash-talking Richmond. He then put forth a trick-play strategy to generate chaos and confusion out on the pitch.
Ahead of the big game, Richmond would also have to install a new team captain. The decision was Ted’s to make, but he left it in the hands of veteran captain Roy, who eventually chose the equally temperamental Isaac to be his successor.
Roy was down but not out, as we’d soon discover, when Ted called him off the bench at halftime. It was shortly thereafter that Richmond earned a penalty and Man City took the lead. At that point, the sluggardly Roy mustered all the energy he had to block Jamie and prevent an additional goal. In doing so, the fan-fave suffered what looked to be a career-ending injury; he limped off the pitch as everyone in the stands cheered him on. Back in the locker room, he reunited with girlfriend Keeley, who refused to let him be alone during this difficult time.
Back on the pitch, all hope was lost until 26,000 mobiles were alerted to Crystal Palace’s decisive victory against Norwich. As such, all Richmond needed was a tie to avoid relegation. And so a combination of trick plays were put to use, including the “Lasso Special,” which distracted Manchester City’s defense long enough for Sam to pass the ball to Rojas and earn Richmond a tie-making goal. Unfortunately, the clock hadn’t run out just yet, and Jamie had enough time to break away with the ball and make an extra pass (callback!) it to a teammate, who scored a game-winning goal. AFC Richmond lost 2-1, and they’d now face relegation.
Afterwards, Ted managed to muster up a few words of encouragement to share with his club, inviting them to lean on each other and put this loss behind them — to be like a “goldfish” and not allow this painful memory to linger. He even attempted to lift Jamie’s spirits after he witnessed his former star being admonished by his overly critical father. He sent Coach Beard out to give Jamie a note, congratulating him on finally being a team player and making that game-winning pass. Also enclosed was one of Ted’s toy soldiers, originally gifted to the him by his son Henry to keep him safe while he’s far from home.
In the final scene, Ted paid Rebecca a visit to hand her his resignation letter. Little did he expect that the team’s owner had no intention of accepting it. She sat Ted down and assured him that he wasn’t going anywhere. Instead, he’d spend the next year working to reverse AFC Richmond’s demotion, and in turn, deliver the most unlikely comeback story in Premier League history. This called for a celebratory toast, at which point Ted took a sip of water, which he was once again surprised to find carbonated — ergo the season-ending spit take that drenched our favorite boss lady.

“Susanna, I would love to,” Alastair replied. “Susanna should we have a sensible, grown up conversation about the campaign.”
As Susanna tried to include more contribution to the debate, Alastair made another swipe at Piers.
“I’m sorry he had to listen to Piers’ boring monologues as well,” Alastair stated.
Piers snapped back: “It might be boring to you mate but it’s not boring to those who voted leave!
“You know, you were one of the Remoaners who for three years refused to accept the result.”

“I’ve watched every show but the last one because I don’t think I would’ve been able to hold it together,” Saffron explained.
“So, I just haven’t been able to watch yet,” she reiterated, before admitting her exit had been an “emotional rollercoaster”.
“I think when you spend 10 weeks doing something and when you’re in a TV show, it’s like you’re entire life is a TV show.
“There’s no normal life behind it. I spent every day for 10 to 12 hours with AJ just dancing for 10 weeks straight,” the social media star continued.

Mexican judge Alejandro Rochin scored the fight in Wilder’s favour despite the feeling that Fury had down enough after rising from the canvas TWICE, including in the 12th round.
And Fury wants him out of the sport and has told him to go to Specsavers.
He said: “I’ve never seen a worse decision in my life.
“I don’t know what fight that judge that gave it 115-111 was watching. That judge needs banning.
READ MORE: JUDGES GOT IT WRONG… WHO REALLY WON?
“He needs sacking or to go to Specsavers.
“Stuff like that gives boxing a bad name.
“I haven’t seen as bad a decision since the first Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield fight.
“The world knows who the real WBC champion is. Wilder has had a gift decision in his home country.
“He must be thanking his lucky stars that he still has the green and gold belt. That belt belongs to me, Tyson Fury.”
Former world heavyweight king Lennox Lewis also agreed, he said: “It happened to me and I knew it was going to happen to him. Everybody could see who won.”
Fury was also angered by British judge Phil Edwards for scoring the fight a draw at 113-113.
The Brit’s promoter Frank Warren called the decision a “robbery” and said they will be writing to the WBC to request a rematch.
The WBC will sit down in the coming weeks to discuss the matter and vote on whether to force Wilder into a rerun with Fury.
The Manchester-born fighter remained unbeaten after he somehow got off the canvas in the last round after a right hand and left hook left him flat on his back.
And now he wants the chance to do it again.
Fury said: “Getting off the canvas is what true champions do. You can’t stop me getting up. I’m like a phoenix rising from the ashes. We want the rematch now.”
Warren is keen to bring the second fight to the UK and Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel is happy for his man to travel.
But there is also the matter of WBA, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua and Finkel is expecting a call from his promoter Eddie Hearn.
He said: “Anything is a possibility. We will see if the guy (Eddie Hearn) calls us.
“Maybe Joshua will think my guy is not so good and will want to fight him now.”
CNN’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta will see his “hard pass” restored, but all journalists seeking access to the presidential press room will now have to abide by written rules of conduct due to his misbehavior.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and deputy chief of staff for communications Bill Shine sent a letter to Acosta on Monday, notifying him that his hard pass was restored, but that it might be suspended or revoked again if he fails to abide by the new rules that apply to all White House correspondents going forward.
Under the rules laid out in the letter, each journalist gets “a single question” before having to yield the floor, with follow-ups solely at the discretion of White House officials. Failure to obey the rules may result in suspension or revocation of the “hard pass,” the document allowing major networks regular access to the White House.
“Should you refuse to follow these rules in the future, we will take action in accordance with the rules,” wrote Sanders and Shine.
Acosta’s pass was yanked following an incident at President Donald Trump’s November 7 press conference, where the CNN correspondent argued with Trump instead of asking questions (not for the first time) and physically prevented a White House intern from taking the microphone away from him.
READ MORE: Fake news feud: A brief history of Trump and CNN’s Jim Acosta yelling at each other
CNN responded by suing the White House, claiming that Acosta’s due process and free speech rights were being infringed. Last week, a federal judge ordered the pass temporarily restored on due process grounds. In response to the letter, CNN dropped the lawsuit.
Mainstream media outlets that had joined CNN in suing Trump celebrated Monday’s letter, framing it as the White House “backing down” in face of the legal challenge while largely ignoring the implications of the new rules: that the media critical of Trump might have won a battle, but lost the war.
“We have created these rules with a degree of regret,” Sanders and Shine wrote. “But, given the position taken by CNN, we now feel obligated to replace previously shared practices with explicit rules.”
This means that Acosta, or any other reporter covering the White House, can get their pass suspended or revoked over specific conduct going forward, without having a leg to stand on in terms of due process. That leaves the First Amendment grounds, effectively arguing that access to the White House is a civil right under the US Constitution, for which there is no precedent under US law.

“Saturday Night Live’s” cold open portrayed Republican lawmakers holding a raucous victory party celebrating Judge Brett Kavanaugh‘s confirmation to the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh was sworn in earlier on Saturday following congressional hearings where Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused him of sexually assaulting her when the two were in high school and a week-long FBI investigation.
“Don, I’m here in the GOP locker room where the mood is nothing short of euphoric,” said Heidi Gardner, playing CNN’s Dana Bash, surrounded by Republican senators dancing and exchanging back slaps.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Michael Avenatti, the attorney for porn star Stormy Daniels, took a victory lap on Tuesday after The Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump directed his former longtime lawyer Michael Cohen and his son Eric Trump in February to coordinate a legal response to keep Daniels quiet about her allegation of a 2006 affair with the president.
“Once again, we have been proven right,” Avenatti told Business Insider in an email. “I’m still waiting for Trump to tell me what are the ‘false accusations’ he claims I have made about him because nothing has been shown to be wrong.”See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Wilder is set to face Tyson Fury on December 1, but AJ made it clear he still wants to face the American on April 13.
Speaking after the fight, AJ praised Povetkin but also suggested he’s ready to finally lock horns with Wilder.
“Povetkin is a very tough challenger and he proved it tonight,” Anthony Joshua said.
“I realised he was strong to the head but weak to the body.
“Let’s see whats happening on April 13.
“Let’s ask the question, I have no mandatories.
“The sport is about what the fans want, let’s put a poll out on Twitter and see who fans want me to take on.
“I got my knockout streak back, I found my right hand again.
“There’s a lot of pressure, the country is rooting for us all and boxing.
“The energy in here spurs you on and I do feel that pressure.”
Pushed on who he wants to fight next, Joshua admitted: “There’s no contract signed at the minute. My No 1 would be Wilder, that’s it.”
Joshua’s promoter – Eddie Hearn – was also quick to talk up a potential 2019 fight with Wilder.
“Joshua is a player in this game, the one stepping up and taking on great fighters,” Hearn said.
“He is a special talent and a great model.
“There was a lot of pressure, Povetkin is a great fighter.
“Joshua’s a real world champion, we will go away now and try and make a fight with [Deontay] Wilder.
“Tonight was about getting that big banana skin of Alexander Povetkin out the way.
“If it’s not Deontay Wilder then it will be Whyte here on April 13.”
Povetkin, 39, had started the opening exchanges of tonight’s fight well.
He left Joshua wobbling in the opening round as it drew to a close and looked dangerous in the early exchanges.
The Watford-born fighter kept his cool as the rounds progressed though.
In the seventh he sprung into life and floored Alexander Povetkin with a ferocious combo.
Povetkin bravely got to his feet, but he was swiftly finished off by Joshua.
Dillian Whyte, who could still face Joshua again if the Wilder fight isn’t rubber stamped, was impressed with how AJ is handling the pressure.
“Povetkin was going to be sharp early, but AJ between 5 and 7 rounds,” the British heavyweight explained.
“Joshua’s youth and his activity, the fighters he has fought, I thought he would come through.
“Joshua is under a lot of pressure, there is massive pressure on me every fight and he is at a higher level than me.
“He was patient and took his time, he was jabbing to the body and then brought the right into play which caught Povetkin by surprise.
“Hopefully, it’s me next, I’m here and ready to fight.”
