Ute McDonnell, whose daughter Marsha was murdered by Bellfield, will ensure her TV is off when Manhunt begins. She has spent years trying to overcome the horror of her daughter’s death at the hands of Bellfield, who also killed Milly Dowler, 13, and French student Amelie Delagrange, 22. Now she fears the TV reconstruction of one of the murders could plunge her into new despair unless she avoids it.

In the three-part drama Martin Clunes, 57, plays Chief Inspector Colin Sutton, who led the hunt for Bellfield.

Ms McDonnell said: “I was informed about the programme by ITV, but it does not bring back happy memories for me.

“I will not be watching. I don’t watch a lot of TV but I will switch it off tonight anyway.

“My family are grown up now and it is up to them what they want to do. I don’t know if they will watch.

“For me, life moves on and I lead a very busy life. My life is in the future and not in the past. It happened. I can’t change that.

“The people from ITV have been very polite. They told me what was happening.

“I always get made aware of any kind of developments or situations like this. But it is not interesting or good for me to watch something like this. It just brings back bad memories.”

Marsha, 19, was in sight of her home in Hampton, west London, in 2003 when she was battered with a lump hammer by 6ft 1in Bellfield, 50. 

Tonight’s drama focuses on the murder of Ms Delagrange, who was beaten to death by Bellfield on Twickenham Green in August 2004.

During the murder hunt Inspector Sutton connected Bellfield to the killings of Marsha and Milly.

Bellfield, played on TV by Celyn Jones, owned a wheel clamping business in west London.

He was given three life sentences in 2008 for the murder of Ms Delagrange, Marsha and the 2004 attempted murder of Kate Sheedy, 18 – who gave evidence against him in court.

He was already in prison for the murders when in 2011 he received a fourth life term and second whole-life tariff for the killing of Milly, from Weybridge, Surrey, in 2002.

Clunes has stressed that the drama is not “violence porn”.

He said: “Through-out the production process, it was crucially important to me we respected the memory of Marsha McDonnell and Milly Dowler, as well as Amelie Delagrange.

“We don’t see any of the crimes take place in the drama. They are real and abhorrent crimes and to see them re-enacted would be wrong for this particular drama.

“The focus is on the police work.

We don’t glamorise anything, we don’t sensationalise anything.”

Last week it was claimed Bellfield was part of a paedophile gang which preyed on more than 17 children in care.

Scotland Yard is now studying a council report which reveals links between the triple killer and six men accused of grooming children as young as 13 to be raped.

The ITV show centred on the death of Alice Ruggles in October 2016 and showed the moments between her body being discovered to the killer being charged. 

The shocking programme gave viewers an insight into how the police use “The Golden Hour” after being alerted to the murder in order to catch the culprit. 

Tonight’s documentary showed Alice’s final moments alongside the police investigation and heartbreaking interview footage with her grieving parents. 

Viewers were left in tears watching the ground-breaking episode, and flooded to Twitter to discuss the complex case. 

One posted: “Fascinating insight into police procedure. Such an upsetting case. Heart goes out to the family.”

Another added: “Absolutely devastating what happened to Alice, seemed like such a lovely girl. Lots of respect to the family/police.”

A third commented: “#AnHourToCatchAKiller is so harrowing to watch the way she was sending text messages & within 25 minutes was gone.”

A fourth agreed, tweeting: “I have no words, absolutely heartbreaking.”

Lance Corporal Trimaan “Harry” Dhillon was found guilty of Alice’s murder and was imprisoned for life with a minimum of 22 years. 

The show uncovered how he climbed through his ex-lover’s window and slashed her throat after being rejected.

Jane Tweddle-Taylor tragically died in the bombing back in May after the mother-of-three went to Manchester Arena with her friend to pick up her friend’s children from the Ariana Grande concert.

Two of her daughters Harriet, 25, and Isabelle, 20, appeared on Lorraine earlier today to discuss their search for a policewoman who held their mother’s hand in the aftermath of the blast, which killed 22 people.

They said that, although it had been difficult to deal with the grief of losing their mother, finding out that she had someone there with her had given them comfort, explaining: “We found out there was a young policewoman there a`nd it gave us comfort that she wasn’t alone.”

The women became very emotional when host Lorraine Kelly, 57, announced that ITV had found the mystery woman, revealing her to be Jessica Bullough of the London Transport Police.

They struggled to hold back tears as Lorraine read out an emotional message from Jessica.

“To Harriet, Lily and Isabelle, I want to start by saying that I can’t imagine what you girls have been going through for the past few months since the loss of your mum,” the letter said. “Jane sounded like such an amazing, wonderful, fun-loving lady who would be so proud of you girls right now.

“I believe you’ve been trying to find me now for the past few months – I can understand that’s proven difficult but now, with the help of ITV, they’ve been able to make contact with me.

“I’ve also for the past few months thought about Jane and her family with the hope of finding you and meeting you one day.

“I really hope this can be arranged soon as I would be honoured to meet you girls,” Jessica said in the message. “Lots of love from Jessica Bullough from the British Transport Police.”

The host assured the girls that the programme would arrange for them to meet the woman who had comforted their mother in the final moments of her life in the Manchester terror attack.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.

Piers Morgan, 52, found it difficult to comprehend the horrific nature of the murder – which saw Seath’s ex-girlfriend Amber Wright, also 15, lure him to his death, where he was subsequently beaten, shot and burned by two others – as he spoke to the child’s parents Sonia and Scott Jackson.

A grieving father, Scott was clearly still struggling with the pain of losing his son six years ago, as he bluntly told the ITV presenter what he wanted to do to Amber.

“I want to kill the b****. No let’s put this in a good way. I want to torture the b****. All of them. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. It would take a long time.

“I know that isn’t going to bring my boy back, but it’s damn sure going to feel good while I’m doing it,” he added.

Piers was more somber than the controversial journalist viewers are usually used to, as he told Scott he could relate.

He explained that as a father of a 15-year-old boy too, he couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be to come to terms with the reality of how Seath was murdered.

“It’s that part of this that as a father myself I find utterly obscene,” he added, before asking how Scott manages to cope. 

With a stone cold expression, Scott responded: “How I want to deal with it, society says that’s a no no. I’ve been doing pretty well with this for the last six years now.”

“I can’t answer that [how he deals with his feelings], I push them down, and that’s where they’ll stay. I feel sorry for the sob [son of a b***h] who brings them to the surface again, and counselling doesn’t help.”

The episode also saw convicted murderer Amber become emotional as she admitted to Piers that she manipulated Seath, and she still couldn’t give a reason for why she had committed the heinous act. 

Killer Women with Piers Morgan continues next Thursday at 9.15pm on ITV.

The Burger King fast food chain in Russia has taken down an ad depicting a 17-year-old victim of rape and beating. It comes after social media users clashed over Diana Shurygina’s case – some supporting her, others saying the rape never happened.

On Tuesday evening, Burger King posted the image on its page in the Russian social network Vkontakte, showing a girl with the haircut and clothes Shurygina wore on a TV talk show where she told of her ordeal.

The underage Shurygina was allegedly raped at a party, with the 21-year-old perpetrator Sergey Semyonov sentenced to eight years behind bars (the sentence was later reduced to three years). Many Vkontakte users blamed the victim, saying she provoked Semyonov or outright lied about the rape. There are around 25,000 supporters in the group supporting him, and about 10,000 in the group set up to support the girl.

On the Burger King poster, the girl makes the same gesture she used on the show to indicate how much vodka she had drunk before the assault: “Just a little.”

In the ad, it seems to mean that the special offer – buy one burger, get one free – “won’t last long.”

Following the posting, users began to express their indignation with the Burger King social network managers.

Many of the users supported Sergey, saying that the girl “spread her legs herself, and now this guy is behind bars because of her,” calling her obscene names, while others said that she and her father organized the best “start-up,” and claimed that father and daughter tried to swindle one million rubles (over $ 15,000) from the rapist’s family.

The ad was eventually taken down, with no reason given. There has been no official statement from Burger King so far.

It is not the first time this story has been used over the last two months, though. The media outlet Life posted an ad saying their website has news and “a little bit of memes,” referring to Diana’s gesture about the vodka.
