will repeat The Vicar of Dibley’s popular wedding episode in memory of Emma Chambers.

The 53-year-old played Alice Tinker in the series alongside Dawn French’s Geraldine Grainger.

Episode Love and Marriage will be broadcast at 10.45pm, following a late schedule change by the BBC.

Emma’s character marries Hugo Horton (played by James Fleet) in the popular 1998 episode.

Alice appeared in all 20 episodes of The Vicar of Dibley, including four Comic Relief specials until 2007, but she did not appear in the two most recent offerings, in 2013 and 2015.

Asked if she ever saw herself in the character, Emma once said: “I’m not sure. You do inevitably bring yourself to a role.

“Like Alice I am vulnerable, emotional and caring, but I am not thick. I think she is gorgeously naïve, like a child. And that is one thing I am not: I am a cynical old b***h.”

Tonight’s schedule change will replace Have I Got Old News For You.

Her agent confirmed in a statement that Emma died of natural causes.

They said: “Over the years, Emma created a wealth of characters and an immense body of work.

“She brought laughter and joy to many, and will be greatly missed.”

Emma is survived by her husband, actor Ian Dunn, following her suspected heart attack. The couple, who did not have any children, married back in 1991.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4 yesterday, former executive producer Jon Plowman commented: “It’s no age to have a heart attack, as I understand it.

“Emma was a gifted comic actress who made any part she played look easy. She was adored by the cast and crew.”

Posting a snapshot of their time together on set, Dawn wrote: “I was regularly humped like this by the unique & beautiful spark that was Emma Chambers. I never minded. I loved her. A lot.”

Following the hit sitcom, Emma went on to play Honey Thacker, the on-screen sister of Hugh Grant’s character William Thacker, in Notting Hill.

The Vicar of Dibley airs tonight on at 10.45pm.

Long-time viewers will know that the regular has been suffering severe pain since Christmas.

Billy (played by Daniel Brocklebank) has been hiding a secret painkiller addiction after struggling to cope with injuries.

His pain stems back to the violent encounter he had with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) that saw him plummet off a cliff and come close to death.

Billy is also struggling to cope since his boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) abandoned him and made him the single foster parent to daughter Summer Spellman (Matilda Freeman).

Viewers instantly took to social media, shocked at what they had just witnessed.

One viewer tweeted: “Billy what are you doing! #Corrie.”

“What is Billy doing??? #corrie,” questioned another concerned fan.

A third added: “Hate seeing Billy like this @itvcorrie #Corrie.”

“It looks like tables have really turned when Billy has saw his young brother in a state and now Billy’s young brother has saw billy in a state! @itvcorrie #Corrie,” added another.

Some fans were not too happy with the way Billy’s storyline had taken a sudden stumble.

One viewer tweeted: “Been a Corrie @itvcorrie fan since being a small boy in #Leeds. Current plot line with Billy is not credible.

“Any normal friend or neighbour would have called 999 the way Billy presented himself in the opening footage. Please move it on. Now bored!”

The BBC adaptation of David Walliams’ book will air on New Year’s Day, and viewers would be forgiven for not knowing who is portraying the vicar.

With a balding head, glasses and false teeth, the villainous vicar looks totally different to the 59-year-old who’s playing the role.

The wicked character Miss Dandy – who runs an old people’s home called Twilight Towers – is played by none other than Jennifer Saunders.

The evil Miss Dandy poses as a vicar in order to win the trust of families with elderly relatives, before forging their wills and swindling the inheritance.

And it’s not hard to see how the on-screen families are convinced by the vicar, as the award-winning comic looks a world away from her usual self after the shocking transformation.

Returning to our TV screens this Christmas, Jennifer’s role will be a start contrast to her famous French and Saunders sketch.

Speaking about the BBC adaptation, Jennifer said: “I love playing villains – they’re so much more interesting than nice people. It’s so easy, it comes naturally.

“Miss Dandy is the sort of person you’d hope would never be in charge of an old people’s home, but great fun because of that.

“She’s a self-serving psychopath with very few redeeming features… I think the fact that her tool of choice is a cattle-prod says a lot about her mentality.”

David Walliams co-wrote the script for the hour-long adaption, and also stars in it himself.

Grandpa’s Great Escape will air on BBC One on New Year’s Day at 6.55pm.

Essex vicar Peter Low was spared jail despite writing a series of sexual stories involving children and delivering them to his neighbors.

Police investigating a reported burglary at Low’s property matched his handwriting to the letters that had been reported.

Officers found no evidence of a burglary, Chelmsford Crown Court heard, but found a ‘to do list’ with handwriting that matched the letters.

Further investigation revealed indecent images of children on Low’s computer.

The letters, detailing sexual fantasies, had been posted through local letterboxes and left around the area.

These were at times accompanied with indecent photographs of children.

Imposing a 36-month community order, the judge told Low, who has been suspended by the church, that he had previously led an “unblemished life and [had] served the community” as vicar.

Prosecutor Peter Gair said police became aware of “certain pieces of paper that had been left deliberately near the property including posted through neighbours’ addresses.”

“These were handwritten fantasy stories but included photographs of scantily-clad but not totally naked children in the region of nine to 12 years, depending on which story one read, having sex with each other and with adults,” Gair said.

Low’s internet history contained terms like “boy models,” “nude children pictures,” and “schoolboy sex.”

Low pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images of children.

He had pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing prohibited images of children at an earlier hearing.

Low will carry out 50 hours unpaid work on top of his community order.

He was also placed on a five-year sexual harm prevention order.A spokesman for the Diocese of Chelmsford told the Telegraph that Low could also face an internal investigation and that the organization was “appalled that a clergyman has fallen so far short of the standards expected by the church.”
