This is just another way of saying if you ask me for advice about apples, I will give you advice on apples. Imagine how easy this job would be if you asked for advice on apples and I could give you advice on Etruscan poetry.

Moreover, your take equating sex with drug use, disease and armed robbery is probably not cool at all, and not especially helpful. Some sex workers do the work because they want to. Some because they believe they have to. Sort of like real jobs. And all of them endeavor to end up better in some way than when they started. Marginalizing them because their behavior doesn’t accord with your moral code could actually result in real downstream harm for both the men and the women who do this as a job.

So you don’t like it, and you’re fully within your rights to not like it, but dude wasn’t asking for a counselor; he was asking about a way to build post-break-up self-esteem, and the way he was leaning might have been the way he was best suited to go.

On Tuesday, Gwyneth Paltrow’s company Goop settled a lawsuit brought by the Santa Clara County District Attorney and nine other state prosecutors, which had claimed that the company’s questionable products—including vagina eggs—”were not supported by competent and reliable science.”

According to Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen, the company claimed that its Jade and Rose Quartz eggs, after inserted into the vagina, “could balance hormones, regulate menstrual cycles, prevent uterine prolapse, and increase bladder control. Goop advertised that the Inner Judge Flower Essence Blend, a blend of essential oils meant be taken orally or added to bathwater, could help prevent depression.”

The company has now agreed to refund any customers who bought those eggs or the Inner Judge Flower Essence Blend between January 12, 2017 and August 31, 2017.

  • Vaginal Rejuvenation is a laser-based “therapy” intended to approve the appearance of the vagina.
  • According to the FDA, some companies deceptively market the procedure.
  • FDA Commissioner Scott Gotlieb said on Twitter that the procedure can cause burning, scarring, or chronic pain.  
  • The FDA has alerted seven companies about their inappropriate marketing and will take action if the issues are not addressed.  


The FDA issued an official warning this week against “vaginal rejuvenation devices,” saying that they can pose serious health risks to people with vaginas. 

“These products have serious risks and don’t have adequate evidence to support their use for these purposes,” said Scott Gotlieb, FDA Commissioner in a Twitter thread yesterday.  “We’re deeply concerned that women are being harmed by these procedures.”

To slather, or not to slather—that is the question that has been roiling doctors, scientists, and new parents recently. And a new ruling by a doctor’s group stands to muck up the debate further.

Amid the birth of microbiome research, some scientists have advocated for smearing bacteria-laden vaginal secretions on any newborns who missed out—namely those born via Caesarian section. Scientists keenly hypothesize that such a gooey glaze can “seed” a more-or-less sterile infant with life-long microbial companions. These wee chums may help train an infant’s immune system and dodge issues like allergies and asthma later in life. Several studies have indeed found correlations between C-section deliveries and higher risks of those conditions.

With that, motherly coatings caught on. More and more parents are now requesting “vaginal seeding” for babies delivered via C-section. But infectious disease experts, pediatricians, obstetricians, and gynecologists have pushed back, questioning the safety and noting that there’s no evidence of a health benefit.

Dashcam footage has been released showing three Texas police officers subjecting a college student to a shocking road-side vaginal search that lasted 11 minutes.

Charneisha Corley was a 21-year-old college student with no criminal history when she was pulled over by police in Harris County, Texas on June 21, 2015, for allegedly running a stop sign.

Corley, now 23, was told to step out of the car after deputies said they smelled marijuana. After officers found nothing in the student’s vehicle, Corley was told a female deputy had been called to conduct a body search.

Upon the deputy’s arrival, that search resulted in Corley apparently being body-slammed to the ground, her pants being roughly ripped off, her legs spread and her vagina probed for 11 excruciating minutes, the newly released dashcam footage shows.

The incriminating footage was released Monday by Corley’s lawyer, Sam Cammack, in an attempt to vindicate his client who has been charged with two misdemeanors; resisting arrest and possession of 0.02 ounces of marijuana.

Cammock, who called the incident “rape by cop,” said that prior to the assault, one officer can be heard saying on the tape: “oh we’re going to find something, if we have to put our hands on her.”

“The same officer bodyslammed Ms Corley, stuck her head underneath the vehicle, and completely pulled her pants off leaving her naked and exposed,” Cammock told KRIV.

“They then took Ms Corley and put her ankles behind her ears, both of her ankles, in a spread-eagled position, and begin to search for something in Ms Corley’s cavity in her vaginal area,” the lawyer added.

Harris County prosecutor Natasha Sinclair said, “No one in this office stands by the search the way it was conducted.”

“No one condones that. No one thinks it’s appropriate. It should not have happened,” she said. However, the deputies involved may not be punished for their actions, with Sinclair saying: “Bad decisions, bad judgement, may not rise to the level of criminal offence.”

The two deputies, Ronaldine Pierre, 34, and William Strong, 37, were put on office duties pending the outcome of the case against Corley and could face prosecution depending if the case goes to trial.

Criminal charges against the deputies involved were dropped by the DA on August 4, the day the case was set for trial, but refiled minutes later citing new “secret” evidence. Cammock has asked for a special prosecutor with no ties to Harris County to handle the case.

Cammack told LawNewz that the female deputy made a deal with DA prosecutors to testify against the other two deputies in exchange for avoiding indictment. Cammack called the prosecutors’ process “disgusting,” because he believes it denied necessary information to the grandy jury.

“At the end of the day … I believe this District Attorney did a favor for somebody,” he said.

Splittgerber said she was required to undergo a pre-employment physical exam in September 2014, where she was told to “remove her pants, lay on her back on the examination table, bend her knees to put her feet flat on the table and open her knees exposing her genitalia,” according to the Omaha World-Herald.

She also alleges that other female recruits were forced to undergo vaginal and rectal examinations for years, while the same was not required for male recruits.

“Subjecting the plaintiff and other female trooper candidates to a medically unnecessary and sexually invasive procedure is outrageous conduct which goes beyond all possible bounds of decency and is utterly intolerable in a civilized community,” the lawsuit reads, according to AP.

Splittgerber complained to her superior officers after her personal physician told her that there was no legitimate medical purpose for the exam. She was told an investigation was being conducted, but was disturbed when she learned other female candidates “continued to be required to submit to the unnecessary and humiliating examination,” according to the Herald.

“At that point, it became clear the plaintiff’s concerns were being dismissed and the events covered up,” the lawsuit said, the Herald reported.

Wendy Wussow, the patrol’s legal counsel wrote in an email to Gary Young, a Lincoln attorney who represents the State Troopers Association of Nebraska, that the exams were simply a “hernia check,” the Herald reports.

However, Dr. Karen Carlson, an OB-GYN with Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, told AP that “there would be no reason to look in the genital or anal area” for a hernia check.

“We might have them loosen their pants, but I wouldn’t think there would be any need to disrobe,” Carlson said.

Taylor Gage, a spokesman for Governor Pete Ricketts, said immediately after learning of the allegations, in June, “the Governor instructed his Chief Human Resources Officer to review this matter, which has subsequently resulted in a criminal investigation by the State Patrol.”
