Whyte and Parker are the main attraction this evening as the pair are battling it out for a shot at Anthony Joshua’s world titles.

Both men have only lost one previous fight in the careers – both against Joshua – and it is set to be a classic clash in the English capital.

However, they are also joined by a number of top fighters, which includes Dereck Chisora vs Carlos Takam and Katie Taylor defending her lightweight belts against Kimberly Connor.

But the headlining fight is expected get underway at 10pm – and both fighters are desperate to win and set up another shot at Joshua.

“Joshua gets destroyed this time, properly,” Whyte said.

“I get him going this time again, I will finish.

“One hundred per cent, I will finish this time.”

And Parker added: “I’m always confident, so I’ll beat him.”

An Olympian just two years ago, Kelly showed why he has been called “the complete package” by promoter Eddie Hearn.

Molina took Kelly into unknown territory by going past round six but the younger man looked more than capable of dealing with it and took a convincing 98-92, 98-92, 99-91 judges’ decision at the final bell to lift the WBA International welterweight belt.

Molina had promised not to let Kelly “think or breathe” in the ring, something the 28-8-2 former world champion was more than capable of doing in his pomp – but the triumphant Kelly felt he had slowed so much that he had become a tricky but not overly challenging fighter.

“He was hard to catch clean and when I was loading up, he kept pulling me back,” Kelly said.

“I didn’t want to hurt the hands too much. It was a really big test but I thought I dealt with it well – although I took a few cheap shots.

“Unorthodox rhythm and an unorthodox jab. He was that slow that he was really really awkward.”

Given that it was the first serious test of the Englishman’s young career in only his sixth fight, he looked surprisingly comfortable in the ring, coming out of his corner early as is his wont and no doubt sending a message to an opponent 10 years his senior.

The Sunderland fighter’s head movement was typically silky and smooth with his low guard allowing him to sight Molina’s shots early and avoid with some panache.

The glitz on the belt of his shorts was matched by his work with his gloves, occasionally switching to southpaw but doing his best work behind a lightning jab.

Molina appeared to warm to the task in the fourth and started the fifth fast, but it only seemed to remind Kelly of the task at hand.

He stepped up the tempo and started to box at a level Molina could hardly match.

The question would be whether Kelly could maintain the speed or find the power – or even both.

But there were other answers for him to find too – namely avoiding getting caught on the counter by his experienced opponent.

It was in the eighth that Molina started to find Kelly’s rhythm but on more than one occasion he left his corner calling for more as he failed to land combinations in return.

Only in the very final round did Molina start to box with any urgency and genuinely seemed to challenge Kelly but it was too little too late and the two fighters passed each other, one on the way up and the other on the way down.

18:35:“Pretty Boy” Kelly is one of Eddie Hearn’s Olympians and has the pre-requisite fast hands and sound boxing technique. Of his five wins in his professional career so far, four have come before the final bell and his most recent victory over Jean Michel Hamilcaro was particularly impressive.

Here, he will fight for the WBA International title, a minor but nevertheless significant belt, because it means he could have to go as far as 10 rounds.

The Sunderland fighter faces Molina, a man with a similar record to Hamilcaro, but who has shared the ring with some true class, including Erislandy Lara, and who is a former world champion at super-welterweight. This is a significant step up, even if 34-year-old Molina may be past his best.

18:30: A rather fresh looking Joe Cordina has been speaking with Sky Sports. He actually sounds a little disappointed that the fight didn’t go the distance.

“I planned for a 10-rounder, so I thought I would go in and take my time. When I started landing on him, he didn’t want to know.

“I let a couple of shots go and managed to get him out of there. It’s my second fight as a lightweight and I’ve got a lot of growing to do.

“There is a load of big fights in the lightweight division.”

18:25:A minor belt for Joe Cordina but a belt nevertheless. The count is waived quite rightly after three knockdowns and Eddie and Barry Hearn are both on their feet ringside.

I think they have real faith in the new WBA International lightweight champion – but it’s a pretty strong division so it will be interesting to see how fast he can move.

Says a lot about his attitude that even while they are waiting to be announced he is watching the big screen, critically analysing his own performance just seconds after sealing the win.

18:20: Ali is down! Cordina looks to accelerate having connected with some hurtful body shots. The Sky Sports commentators are describing the Welshman as being in a “spiteful” mood this evening. They aren’t wrong.

It’s over! The referee steps in and calls this one off in round 3. Very impressive win for Cordina, who went from 0-60 in a matter of seconds.

Going 10 rounds, as this is scheduled, would be six further than he has ever been but Ali, a replacement for Andy Townend, should not be a major challenge for him.

Cordina has serious amateur pedigree despite being knocked out in the last 16 at the Rio Olympics. He was a European champion and Commonwealth bronze medallist who should skip up the rankings with a win here.

Anthony Joshua cut a lean figure on the Cardiff scales as he weighed in nearly a stone lighter than his last fight for his world heavyweight unification showdown with Joseph Parker.

Joshua, the WBA and IBF king, tipped the scales at 17st 4lbs 2oz – 6lbs heavier than New Zealand’s WBO champion Parker.

The 28-year-old had shed 12lbs from his 18st 2lbs frame when stopping Carlos Takam in October, while Parker has lost 9lbs since outpointing Hughie Fury a month earlier.

Who is on the undercard for Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker?

Last time out, when Joshua stopped Carlos Takam in the 10th round in front 78,000 fans, Katie Taylor had been the star of the undercard.

Kai Yafai defended his WBA super-flyweight world title against Sho Ishida in a bout that drew boos from some areas of the crowd, but Taylor provided wall-to-wall excitement.

The Irish fighter, contesting a world title for the first time, floored Anahi Esther Sanchez in the second round only to be made to work for all 10 and take a unanimous decision to the delight of the crowd.

Dillian Whyte and Frank Buglioli also fought on the night, but the card will have a very different look this time around.

Crolla is desperate to continue his journey back from consecutive defeats to Jorge Linares, the second of which was a dominant performance from the Venezuelan.

Manchester’s finest is desperate to become a world champion for a second time and believes that a win over Ramirez (18-2-1) would put him back in the frame for shot at a belt.

Morgan Jones vs Mose Auimatagi Jnr (six-round super-middleweight contest)

Jones is another home fighter although he was born in South Africa. His opponent is a member of Team Parker for whom they have high hopes and only has one defeat on his record.

France’s Takam stepped up as a late replacement for Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev, who withdrew last week with a shoulder injury.

But Takam had already been in training for a fight and was on a pre-contract to step in if Pulev did indeed pull out.

Meanwhile, the undercard will feature Kal Yafai’s title defence, Katie Taylor going for global glory and a much-anticipated match-up between heavyweight contenders Dillian Whyte and Robert Helenius.

6.15pm: Really strong start from Buglioni, who twice in the opening two rounds pins Richards to the ropes and lands a couple of solid strikes upstairs.

6.05pm: Next up, it’s the British light-heavyweight title fight which was initially my pick of the undercard until Callum Johnson pulled out. Frank Buglioni has 12 rounds of knockout power and is a thrilling fighter. Big ask for late replacement 10-0 super-middleweight Craig Richards to take the title off him.

5.50pm: Buatsi wins with a late knockdown and an improved performance. Sall was tough though. A good learning fight.

“I got six rounds in the bank,” Buatsi says.

“Credit to my opponent because he knew what he was doing.”

5.30pm: Rio 2016 bronze medallist Joshua Buatsi is into the ring and has started well against Saidou Sall. One left uppercut from Buatsi rocks Sall but he looks to have a decent chin. Still, expect nothing but a third professional win for the 24-year-old here.

5.15pm: Okolie approaching the halfway point of his clash with Adam Williams, scheduled for six rounds. The former Team GB righter certainly looks as though he has plenty left to give but Williams is knocked down in the third round after plenty of punishment and the towel goes in from his corner.

Another convincing win for Okolie, who improves to 6-0.

5pm: The doors are open. The roof is shut. 78,000 tickets have been sold and all we need now are some boxers. There is a packed undercard with a lot of quality British fighters on show before the best of them all, Anthony Joshua, takes to the ring for the first time since beating Wladimir Klitschko at around 10.15pm.

First up will be big-hitting cruiserweight Lawrence Okolie in his sixth fight as a professional, defending his unbeaten record. He’ll be along in a few minutes.

Nicola Adams is set to make her professional debut against Alexandra Vlajk in Las Vegas on September 16.

The double Olympic champion has been named on the undercard for Alvarez’s clash with unbeaten WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight champion Glolovkin.

Meanwhile, featherweight Claudio Marrero is set to take on Jesus Rojas while super Bantamweight Diego De La Hoya will face Randy Caballero.

Joseph Diaz will also fight Jorge Lara in the showpiece event at the T-Mobile Arena.

Earlier this week, Tony Bellew said that Sheffield needed a new sporting hero and he believes Kell Brook is ready to be that hero.

He has already twice fought in Sheffield as world champion but this, at the home of his beloved Sheffield United, is bound to be special.

Victory is no certainty though. Plenty of people who know in boxing think Errol Spence Jr could be quite special and he is still unbeaten after 21 fights. Brook will have to work hard for this one.

There is also a tasty undercard including George Groves going for his first world title at the fourth attempt and Dave Allen, he of the pants antics yesterday, fighting for a Commonwealth heavyweight title – his biggest contest to date.
