Cable viewers were spoilt by a double dose of Snowpiercer tonight on TNT, with two brand new episodes also coming to Netflix on Tuesday. After an exhilarating second season, fans sounded off on Twitter when the fate of Melanie Cavill (played by Jennifer Connelly) was left hanging over a cliff edge.

Viewers have shared their crushed reactions to the jaw-dropping twist ending that just capped off Snowpiercer’s second season.

The second most popular cable drama returned after a week’s hiatus to deliver a two-part finale of epic proportions, ‘The Show Must Go On’ and ‘Into the White’.

When the series last left off, Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) launched his plan to take over Snowpiercer, and this week treated the passengers to an extravagant carnival.

By the end of this week’s instalment, Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) and Melanie’s daughter, Alex (Rowan Blanchard) had split the vessel apart to form their own ‘pirate train’.

Unfortunately, their quest to find and safely retrieve Melanie from the frozen research station was a failure.

Having located her last recorded location, Andre and Alex discovered Melanie had seemingly stepped out into the frozen wilderness when she realised she wouldn’t be rescued.

The episode ended on a tear-jerking final note as Alex read the last entry of Melanie’s journal, which confirmed the worst had happened.

As the finale wrapped up on TNT, fans were inconsolable as they mourned the loss of one of Snowpiercer’s most beloved characters.

Importantly, season two featured a number of flashback sequences between Wilford and Melanie, throwing doubt over how Snowpiercer’s former Head of Hospitality could return.

There’s a strong chance Connelly will be taking a backseat when the series returns, and only appear in a handful of flashbacks as a special guest appearance.

However, after her ambiguous and, for some, disappointing off-screen death, several fans are already convinced Melanie is still out there alive somewhere.

One fan complained: “Man I have to say I’m kind of disappointed with that off screen death, Snowpiercer. Good finale but I don’t like when you kill a character like that off-screen.”

While another theorised: “So… I’m not convinced that Melanie is dead on Snowpiercer. We haven’t seen a body, so I’m hopeful that Alex will find her somehow.”

Melanie’s research this season confirmed the frozen Earth is actually warming up in some spots, so there’s a slim chance of her survival in the outside world.

Snowpiercer’s third season is currently in production but isn’t expected to air before the start of 2022, so fans will just have to keep speculating until then.

Snowpiercer season 2 is available to stream on Netflix from Tuesday, March 30.

WASHINGTON — In a surprise reversal Friday night, Coast Guard officials announced that service members will receive their regularly scheduled paychecks next week, despite the ongoing government shutdown.

In a message to all Coast Guard members, Vice Commandant Adm. Charles Ray said that service and Department of Homeland Security officials “identified a way to pay our military workforce on 31 December.”

President Donald Trump’s longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller reportedly told the House Intelligence Committee in a closed-door interview earlier this week that someone in Russia offered to send five Russian prostitutes to Trump’s Moscow hotel room in 2013, but they did not accept.

The question arose out of an allegation made in an explosive dossier that the Kremlin tried to exploit “Trump’s personal obsessions and sexual perversion in order to obtain suitable ‘kompromat’ (compromising material) on him.”

The dossier, written by former British spy Christopher Steele, alleged that Trump hired prostitutes to perform a “golden showers’ show in front of him” at the Moscow Ritz Carlton in 2013.

Schiller denied that anything inappropriate happened, telling the committee that he and Trump laughed off the offer and went to bed. 

But the dossier also alleges, in a completely different section, that Trump “paid bribes and engaged in sexual activities” in St. Petersburg “but key witnesses were silenced and evidence [was] hard to obtain.”

“Speaking to a trusted compatriot in September 2016, two well-placed sources based in St Petersburg, one in the political/business elite and the other involved in the local services and tourist industry, commented on Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s prior activities in the city,” the dossier reads.

“Both knew Trump had visited St Petersburg on several occasions in the past and had been interested in doing business deals there involving real estate…the local services industry source reported that Trump had participated in sex parties in the city too, but that all direct witnesses to this recently had been ‘silenced,’  i.e. bribed or coerced to disappear.”

It further alleged that Aras Agalarov, Trump’s former business partner who helped bring Trump’s Miss Universe pageant to Moscow in 2013, “had been closely involved with Trump in Russia and would know most of the details of what the Republican presidential candidate had got up to” in St. Petersburg. 

The publicist for Agalarov’s pop star son, Emin, organized a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower last June. Trump Jr. took the meeting after the publicist, Rob Goldstone, said the Russian government wanted to give the campaign dirt on Hillary Clinton.

The Daily Caller reported in January that Emin Agalarov told Schiller that he was going to send prostitutes to Trump’s room in Moscow. Agalarov’s attorneys denied the accusations on Thursday.

It is unclear when Trump visited St. Petersburg, or whether Schiller went with him. Sciller told the committee that “he did not remember accompanying Trump on any other trips to Russia but told investigators that he could not rule it out,” according to the Washington Post.

“Schiller agreed to review his passport and get back to the committee with more information,” the Post reported on Thursday night.

PARIS (AP) — The spokeswoman for the Marseille prosecutor’s office says the suspect who attacked four American women with acid in the Marseille train station did not yell any out any terror-linked threats.

The spokeswoman says there were no immediate indications that the attack was terror-related but adds that officials can’t be 100 percent sure about ruling out terror links at such an early stage of the investigation.

She says French officials have arrested a suspect in Sunday’s acid attack, a 41-year-old woman. The spokeswoman also told The Associated Press that two of the tourists have been injured in the face in the attack and one of them has a possible eye injury. She says all four of the tourists, who are in their 20s, have been hospitalized, two of them for shock.

There was no immediate information on where the American tourists were from.

The spokeswoman spoke on condition of anonymity, per the French judicial system, in a phone call to The Associated Press.

 

Marseille is a port city in southern France that is closer to Barcelona than Paris.

The company filed for bankruptcy in February and announced that they would be shutting down and sending a refund of all pre-orders (following an embarrassing lawsuit from the Francisco district attorney’s office over claims of false advertisement and unfair business practices). Now, two months later, it’s still unclear as to when those refunds will manifest.

As per recent reports, Lily drone pre-orderers received a “very short email” regarding how they could get their money back, but apparently, there was no information on just how long that would take. Rather, the email was more of a legal notice, including a form that is essentially a request for refund. Still, there’s no definitive time frame on when early backers’ losses may be recouped.

That said, some customers have reported already receiving refunds, though it’s unclear as to just how many of the 61,000 original takers have had such luck.

When Lily first started showing off a prototype, the company didn’t even call it a drone, but a flying camera. The idea came from a family vacation where creator Antoine Balaresque noticed his mother was missing from the photos because she took all of them.

The Lily was designed to be a personal cameraman and — unlike the more traditional drones, there were no controls. Users simply tossed the Lily in the air with a sensor in their pocket and the flying camera would follow them.

That idea first launched the company back in 2013, with a prototype in 2015. The company has at least two delivery delays since, with the latest notice telling pre-order customers to expect their drone between December 2016 and January 2017.

Even though the company managed to get at least 60,000 pre-orders, the years without a product on the shelves and multiple launch delays dwindled the company’s funds until there wasn’t enough left to actually manufacture and ship the drone.

“Over the past few months, we have tried to secure financing to unlock out manufacturing line and ship our first units — but have been unable to do this. As a result, we are deeply saddened to say that we are planning to wind down the company and offer refunds to customers,” an email to early backers explained.

The drone market is vastly different now then when the company first formed — and while 2016 was the best year for drone sales yet, Lily isn’t the only one struggling. Without a product on the market after several years, the company’s closure is unsurprising as even the well-known Parrot announces layoffs and 3DR shifted focus to industrial applications last year.

DJI has a large share of the market, due in part to owning its own factories, which gives it a competitive pricing advantage.

While the Lily drone looked promising, the company now joins the number of tech startups that were unable to get up off the ground.
