BH90210 Finale Delivers Two Paternity Shockers and One Truly Disturbing Kiss https://briefnews.eu/bh90210-finale-delivers-two-paternity-shockers-and-one-truly-disturbing-kiss/ https://briefnews.eu/bh90210-finale-delivers-two-paternity-shockers-and-one-truly-disturbing-kiss/#respond Thu, 12 Sep 2019 07:34:28 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bh90210-finale-delivers-two-paternity-shockers-and-one-truly-disturbing-kiss/

Mischa Barton’s O.C. character coming back from the dead was somehow the least surprising part of Wednesday’s twist-filled BH90210 season — or is it series? — finale, which chronicled the gang’s agonizing wait to find out if Fox was ordering the reboot.

From two paternity surprises to one incestuous moment we’d all rather forget, it was easily the least predictable episode thus far. In fact, let’s just break this one down twist by twist so we can all process it together:

* Despite Shay’s private investigator confirming that Zach isn’t Brian’s biological son, the man formerly known as David Silver decided to serve as a father figure until the real deal is tracked down — which could be sooner than expected, as Jason also recognized Zach’s mom from the photo he gave Brian. So even though Jason lost a wife this week, he might have gained a son.

* Ian was similarly blindsided after hooking up with Denise Richards at a pre-upfront party… only to learn that Anna is her daughter.

* On a more disturbing note, Shannen daydreamed that she (as Brenda) was kissing Jason (as Brandon), the result of some curious observations made by test viewers.

* Tori and Jennie both found themselves questioning their respective relationships; Tori was frustrated by how much effort it takes her husband to overcome his jealousy, while Jennie was simply weirded out that Wyatt got her initials tattooed on his chest.

* Lastly, Christine informed everyone that Fox wants the pilot reshot with a new writer (sorry, Anna!), a new supporting cast (sorry, Kyler!), a new location (Vancouver?!) and one less series regular. BH90210 may have been conceived as a “limited series,” but if Fox decides to keep it going, there’s clearly no shortage of stories to tell.

* And here’s the biggest twist of all: Can you believe we didn’t actually see a single second of the pilot they spent all season producing? I now feel invested in this project and would like to see the fruits of our labor. (If unavailable, I would also settle for a peek at that insane-sounding O.C. reboot.)

Your thoughts on this wild finale? Grade it in our poll below, then drop a comment with your review of the episode (and the season).

Vikings Season 5B Sneak Peek: Can Lagertha Truly Trust Heahmund? https://briefnews.eu/vikings-season-5b-sneak-peek-can-lagertha-truly-trust-heahmund/ https://briefnews.eu/vikings-season-5b-sneak-peek-can-lagertha-truly-trust-heahmund/#respond Thu, 01 Nov 2018 21:09:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/vikings-season-5b-sneak-peek-can-lagertha-truly-trust-heahmund/

Lagertha wonders if she can still rely on Bishop Heahmund, now that they have fled to his homeland of England, in this sneak peek from the Season 5B premiere of History’s Vikings.

Vikings left off with Ivar the Boneless vowing vengeance on his betrayers — and placing a direct target on Lagertha’s back. Last seen in an unstable state and shedding her fierce warrior appearance, Lagertha (played by Katheryn Winnick) nonetheless is hopeful she will regain her spot as Kattegat’s rightful leader.

Season 5 resumes (Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 9/8c) with the arrival of Duke Rollo (Clive Standen), a former viking, who causes further upheaval in a Kattegat. As Lagertha and Bjorn flee Ivar’s murderous forces with Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Ivar’s tyrannical reign over Scandinavia ushers in a new Dark Age, the likes of which have never been seen.

In the scene above, Lagertha wonders aloud if Bishop Heahmund can still be trusted to not feed her people to the wolves, or if she need worry about betrayal, since “everything is different” for him, now home in England. What is his response? Press play to find out.

Vikings Season 6 is already in production in Ireland. Watch the Season 5B trailer:

Does Meghan Markle feel ‘nostalgia' for her old career? Looked ‘truly happy’ at Hamilton https://briefnews.eu/does-meghan-markle-feel-nostalgia-for-her-old-career-looked-truly-happy-at-hamilton/ https://briefnews.eu/does-meghan-markle-feel-nostalgia-for-her-old-career-looked-truly-happy-at-hamilton/#respond Wed, 12 Sep 2018 05:41:15 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/does-meghan-markle-feel-nostalgia-for-her-old-career-looked-truly-happy-at-hamilton/

Meghan Markle is now familiar across the globe as a member of the British Royal Family.

The wife of Prince Harry once worked as an actress. After studying theatre at university, Meghan has numerous acting roles.

She scored her big break in cable drama Suits playing sexy paralegal Rachel Zane.

And Meghan relived elements of her acting past when she posed on stage with the cast of Hamilton recently.

The couple attended a special gala performance of the award-winning musical to raise money for Harry’s aids charity Sentebale.

Body language expert Judi James claims Meghan might be feeling some nostalgia for her past career.

She said: “The facial expressions say it all here really, especially the eye expressions.”

The body language expert said it appears “as though the actress part of her has just come alive again to be standing in line with other performers on stage.”

In an image of the couple sat in the stalls, Judi said: “Meghan’s raised brows create a knowing-looking smile as her eyes look up into what could be the upper row of the stalls and she performs a small preening gesture, touching an earring with her left hand.

“Her open-mouth smile as she communicates with actors behind them suggests a very confident form of delight in contrast with Harry’s ‘big kid’ grin and eye gleam.”

However, Judi said: “It’s in the line-up with the other cast members that Meghan really looks in her element though, and this could signal some nostalgia for her old career.

“As Harry stands behind her placing a careful hand to her waist Meghan’s wide, confident smile and slight head tilt suggest she’s feeling truly happy and at home.”

However, the Duchess is not likely to be heading back to the stage anytime soon, according to the expert, despite enjoying being at the theatre.

Judi said: “There is a careful modification of this pose once the shots are taken though, that should let us know that the smell of the greasepaint hasn’t actually turned her head.

“In the last picture she quietly disassociates herself from her performing past by reverting to some more self-effacing and even slightly shy gestures to make herself look less like a fellow actor.”

What is more, the Duchess appears to subconsciously emphasise her role of wife and Duchess by showing off her engagement ring, Judi claims.

She explained: “Hunching her shoulders slightly she brings her clutch bag up as a small barrier signal, holding it with straight fingers that display her wedding and engagement rings to emphasise her new role in life.”

It was recently revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Charles, 69, are ‘very close’.

A family member told the magazine: “The wedding was a real turning point.

“Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage. The bond between them is very close.”

Who is Meghan Markle? Quick profile

Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle.

Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling – sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior.

Actress

Meghan’s first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002.

She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

Meghan was also a “briefcase girl” on Deal or No Deal – but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011.

She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 – just before she got married herself.

Charity and humanitarian work

Meghan Markle’s career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart.

She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada – with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity’s Clean Water Campaign.

And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations – receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women’s Day.

Relationships

In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004.

But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference.

She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends.

And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement.

They married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Meghan’s heritage

Some have claimed Meghan Markle is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family.

Historians are still arguing about Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III.

But Meghan will be the first royal to openly embrace a mixed-race heritage.

She has written about the difficulties of being a biracial actress in Hollywood as she claims she is not black enough for some roles and not white enough for others.

Let’s Examine the Truly Strange ‘Venom’ Song Eminem Just Released https://briefnews.eu/lets-examine-the-truly-strange-venom-song-eminem-just-released/ https://briefnews.eu/lets-examine-the-truly-strange-venom-song-eminem-just-released/#respond Fri, 31 Aug 2018 16:05:01 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/lets-examine-the-truly-strange-venom-song-eminem-just-released/ venom song

“Knock knock, let the devil in!” shouts Eminem on his new song “Venom”, and it just gets worse/more amazing from there. The song appears on Eminem’s new surprise album Kamikaze, and is also featured in the new Venom movie, starring Tom Hardy as a slime monster. For nearly five minutes, Eminem raps about Gandhi, Edgar Allen Poe, and Elliot from E.T.. What does any of this have to do with Venom? I have no idea. Hear the Venom song below!

Venom Song

Back in the late ’80s/early ’90s, movies – particularly genre movies, like horror – would conclude with a rap song about the movie. It was a glorious, innocent time when people would compose raps about Maniac Cop and The Monster Squad. The trend is back, in a big, silly way with Eminem’s new song “Venom.” The song arrived unexpectedly when the rapper dropped a surprise album today, and one can only assume this musical ditty will be blasting from the surround sound speakers as the Venom end credits roll.

Let’s take a look at some of the lyrics of this musical masterpiece, shall we?

tom hardy venom voice

A Song Filled With Shit

I got a song filled with shit for the strong willed
When the world gives you a raw deal
Set you off till you
Scream, piss off, screw you
When it talks to you like you don’t belong
Or tells you you’re in the wrong field
When’s something’s in your mitochondrial
‘Cause it latched on to you, like

Alright, right off the bat, Eminem isn’t mincing words. “I got a song filled with shit” is how “Venom” starts. It’s like a warning shot across the bow. “I hope you’re ready,” he’s saying, “because this song is filled with shit.” Someone should’ve advised him to change it to “a song filled with turds”, since Venom loves talking about turds in the wind, but I guess that would screw up the rhythm of the song. From there, he launches into railing against the world, especially when the world “gives you a raw deal”, and let’s face it: we’ve all been there. I guess this song is supposed to be from the point of view of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock? And he’s pissed at the world? And he’s soon going to climb out of his rut with the help of the Venom symbiote? I’m just guessing here, I really don’t know.

Tom hardy Yelling

Knock Knock, Let The Devil In

Knock knock, let the devil in, malevolent
As I’ve ever been, head is spinnin’ and this medicine
Screaming, “L-l-l-let us in”
L-l-lick like a salad bowl, Edgar Allen Poe

Here is where things really start to go off the rails. “Knock knock, let the devil in” is fine. I like it. It’s like the symbiote, aka THE DEVIL, is asking to be let in – to bond with Eddie Brock and become a giant slimy monster that eats heads. I’m with you so far, Eminem. But then things take a very sharp turn with “L-l-lick like a salad bowl, Edgar Allen Poe.” Hmm? What in the fuck does that mean? Was Edgar Allen Poe known for licking salad bowls? Did Edgar Allen Poe ever eat a salad in his life? Is Edgar Allen Poe a character in Venom? I really hope so. Maybe there’s a flashback to the symbiote bonding with Edgar Allen Poe, inspiring him to write his tales of terror. If so, Venom is the best movie ever made.

Venom!

Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
Not knowing with ’em
Never gonna slow up in ’em
Ready to snap any moment-um
Thinking it’s time to go get ’em
They ain’t gonna know what hit ’em
(When they get bitten with the)
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
Not knowing with ’em
Never gonna slow up in ’em
Ready to snap any moment-um
Thinking it’s time to go get ’em
They ain’t gonna know what hit ’em
(When they get bit with the)

Here’s the chorus, in full. It basically consists of Eminem ending every line with “em” or “um” so it will rhyme with “Venom.” “Ready to snap any moment-um” is a particularly nice turn of phrase. Bravo.

Symbiotes and Ballpoint Pens

I said, “Knock knock, let the devil in, alien”
E-E-Elliot phone home, ain’t no telling when this choke hold
On this game will end, I’m loco
Became a symbiote, so
My fangs are in your throat, ho
You’re steppin’ in with my
Venom
Put the ballpoint pen ’em

The “knock knock, let the devil in” is back, but this time, Em ends it with “alien”, which in turn inspires him to bring up Elliot from E.T. This sort of makes sense, since the symbiote is technically an alien. Speaking of which, Eminem does manage to fit “sybmiote” into this song, and he actually pronounces it correctly – “sim-BEE-oht”, unlike Venom co-star Jenny Slate, who pronounces it as “sim-BYE-oat” in the Venom trailer. “My fangs are in your throat, ho” is a bit unnecessary – do we need to bring hoes into this? Before you can think on that too much, the verse concludes with “ballpoint pen ’em”, because that rhymes with “Venom.” Pretty good.

Venom lets the devil in October 5, 2018.

Red Rock Canyon is a joyous drive through the desert, while the towering, multi-coloured rock formations of Valley of Fire State Park are stunning, especially viewed near dawn or dusk.

But the ultimate has to be the Grand Canyon which, for once, wholly deserves what is a much over-used description around these parts – awesome!

If you’re staying on or near the Strip, getting there requires a bit of an effort: reckon on a five-hour journey by road for a DIY visit or coach tour. You can see it from above on a plane trip too but, for the ultimate experience, there is but one choice: helicopter.

Only then can you experience the size and the grandeur of the Grand Canyon from the best possible vantage point – inside it.

As usual, it’s best to book in advance. Attraction Tickets Direct, who specialise in this kind of thing, recommend 5 Star Helicopters, with good reason.

Run by two genial Brits, John Power and Mark Stanway, they operate one of the newest fleets in town with a 100 per cent safety record and boast more than 250,000 happy customers so far.

The trip begins with a Mercedes Benz pick-up from your hotel for the short drive to Boulder City airport and a safety briefing at 5 Star HQ; this is also where we’ll enjoy some complimentary Champagne and drinks in the luxury lounge on our return.

Our trip was the Below the Rim Extended Air Tour, a 70-minute flight, flying below the rim of the canyon for 16 miles, and taking in views of the Colorado River, the Hoover Dam and Mojave Desert.

helicopter

During the 70-minute flight the helicopter glided over Hoover Dam (Image: Express)

Pilot Kyle Demuth carefully and cheerfully explains procedures, we all don headphones and take off. Within a few minutes we are looping over the first of many remarkable sights we’ll see over the next hour or so, the vast and brooding Hoover Dam – a remarkable monument to man’s endeavour and, as Kyle told us, cherished as the only major project undertaken in the US to come in ahead of schedule and under budget.

Swinging around we head for the canyon, enjoying the curiously bleak and beautiful desert landscape along the way.

Throughout, Kyle constantly puts nervous flyers at their ease by warning of impending updraughts and minor wobbles.

helicopter

5-Star Helicopters is owned and operated by Brits (Image: Express)

He also has an amusing and entertaining line in commentary, pointing out notable sights as we pass over, such as the spot where the climactic scene of Thelma and Louise was filmed, and the remains of a dirt airstrip at a silver mine once owned by the Mob; apparently a trip here was all-too-often one way, the desert being just the spot to dispose of the recently “whacked”.

Almost before we know it, we turn a corner and – thrillingly – find ourselves inside the Grand Canyon itself.

The first – not entirely surprising – revelation is the sheer size of it.

Annoyingly for a reporter, it is difficult to describe just how astonishing an experience this is. Shock and awe, if the Pentagon forgives the phrase, is one reaction. Humbling is another, as we see the colour degradations of the rock, eroded over what’s thought to be 16-17 million years.

Cameras and smartphones click constantly as Kyle flies us what seems like an unfeasibly long way down the canyon before the slow spin round for the return journey.

Bathed in morning sunshine the canyon is unspeakably gorgeous, spectacular beyond belief and, on a visceral level, intensely moving.

For most people this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, which is a shame – because you could do this a hundred times or more, and still never come to terms with the scale and majesty of the place.

THE KNOWLEDGE The Grand Canyon Below the Rim Extended Air Tour with 5 Star Helicopters costs from £215 and includes luxury hotel transfers from Las Vegas and complimentary drinks, including Champagne. To book visit www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk

  • Roger Federer lost the Cincinnati Masters final against Novak Djokovic on Sunday.
  • It was good news for Djokovic, who becomes the first tennis player in history to complete a ‘Career Masters’ by winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 events.
  • But it was bad news for Federer, who looked truly awful against Djokovic and has clearly been struggling for form in his biggest matches of the summer.
  • There are few chances for Federer to end the year on a high — and the 36-year-old will surely be looking at the upcoming US Open as a last-chance saloon for success this year.

There’s something wrong with Roger Federer.

The 36-year-old was on top of the tennis world just eight months ago, when he broke down into tears while lifting the 2018 Australian Open trophy. He had won the first major of the new year, his 20th Grand Slam title in total, and there was reason to believe there could be more in store for the rest of the year.
