Earlier in the show, Dan Walker grilled SNP Westminster leader, Ian Blackford over his party’s leaflet blunder.

Liberal Democrats leader, Jo Swinson has one a court bid to stop an SNP leaflet which was ruled as falsely accusing her of acceptation £14,000 from a fracking company.

Addressing the matter, Walker asked: “With that in mind, can voters trust the SNP to tell the truth?”

However Blackford refused to give his opinion on the issue citing he was unable to as the ruling is under appeal.

Fans of Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg knew the perfect way to rile supporters of Anzhi Makhachkala in their game at the weekend, chanting the name of UFC star Conor McGregor – who soon fights local hero Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Dagestani-born Nurmagomedov is a huge football fan and a big supporter of local team Anzhi, who play in Russia’s Premier League.

With Nurmagomedov set to take on Irish star Conor McGregor in their UFC lightweight title fight in Las Vegas on Saturday, rival fans from Zenit knew exactly how to wind up the locals when they travelled with their team to face Anzhi in Kaspiysk on Sunday.

Zenit fans were filmed shouting the name of Irish megastar McGregor during the game – with a distinct Russian twang to the chants.

The jibes may have been prompted by the Anzhi players taking to the field before the game with T-shirts bearing an image of Nurmagomedov, with the slogan: ‘We are one team – not one step back!’ – in support of the fighter as he prepares for his showdown with McGregor on Saturday.

Nurmagomedov is a passionate fan of his local club, which has faced series financial difficulty in recent months.  

In August, the UFC lightweight king posted a picture of himself standing at the team’s stadium holding a shirt, in support of the campaign to help the team’s financial survival.

The jibes from Zenit fans on Sunday backfired, however, as Anzhi stunned the league leaders by coming from behind to clinch a 2-1 win despite being down to 10 men.

The result ended Zenit’s unbeaten start to the Russian Premier League season and moved Anzhi up to 12th in the 16-team table.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor face off on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at UFC 229, in what has been billed as the biggest fight in MMA history.

The undefeated Nurmagomedov (26-0) is defending the lightweight crown he won in April, while McGregor – who was the first man ever to hold titles in two UFC weight classes – is returning to the Octagon for the first time since making a foray into boxing to fight Floyd Mayweather.

The fighters have traded football-related barbs in the lead-up to the bout, after McGregor was pictured with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the World Cup final in Russia this summer.

Nurmagomedov was also at the game, although did not have a photo op with the Russian leader – later making light of the incident by posting a photo with a Putin lookalike.

McGregor brought up the issue at the pair’s explosive first press conference for UFC 229, accusing Nurmagomedov of “disrespecting” Putin by saying he was not bothered by the Irishman’s snap with the Russian leader.

Back in June, Valve issued expansive Steam guidelines that said games would only be removed from the platform for illegal or “outright trolling” content. At the time, we noted that the unclear definition of “trolling” left a lot of wiggle room for Valve to still define what is and isn’t acceptable content in a game.

Yesterday, Valve took a stab at clarifying what defines “a troll game” in its estimation. These clarifications are welcome, but they raise some questions about how agnostic Valve’s purported value-neutral moderation really is.

The many types of trolls

Some of Valve’s definitions of trolling seem relatively clear-cut. Most everyone would agree that Steam should remove developers that are “trying to scam folks out of their Steam inventory items” or those “looking for a way to generate a small amount of money off Steam through a series of schemes that revolve around how we let developers use Steam keys,” for instance.

ABC’s mild-mannered Fresh Off the Boat, meanwhile, suddenly has some added heat — even as it moves to Friday nights (as part of the network’s bid to revive “TGIF”) — given leading lady Constance Wu’s status as the star of the summer’s biggest box office surprise, Crazy Rich Asians. Will ABC make a bold move to capitalize on Wu’s new profile?

  • The fans chanted “MVP!” during Smith’s first free throw attempt of Game 2.
  • Fans also held signs proclaiming Smith the MVP and also gave him the loudest ovation of any player — including Warriors players — during the introductions.
  • This all came after Smith committed a horrible blunder at the end of Game 1 in which he did not know the score, costing the Cavs a chance to steal a win on the road against the heavily favored Warriors.

  • Human rights watchdog Amnesty International has launched Troll Patrol, a project that will assign digital volunteers to analyze abusive tweets aimed at women on Twitter.
  • The project follows Amnesty’s #ToxicTwitter report, which detailed the results of a 16-month long investigation into how harassers and abusers target women on the social media platform.
  • The goal of the project is to provide data to Amnesty researchers to develop an algorithm that can be used to automatically detect abusive tweets, putting pressure on Twitter to up its game.

Amnesty International is taking it upon itself to help police harassment on Twitter.

On Wednesday, the human rights organization commenced with Troll Patrol,” a project which will recruit volunteers to find and analyze potentially abusive tweets directed at female journalists, activists and politicians.

Eagle-eyed Ben Nimmo, a fellow at the Atlantic Council, has tweeted advice for Twitter users to help them identify “Russian troll-factory accounts” on the social media platform.

What gives the Russian trolls away, Nimmo advises, is their tendency to use imperfect English. For example, Nimmo highlights the “inability” of so-called Russian trolls to use the words ‘a’ or ‘the’ because the Russian language itself does not use definite or indefinite articles.

This means that a Russian without perfect English might say ‘There is black cat in house’ instead of ‘There is a black cat in the house’ — as a native English speaker would say. According to Nimmo, these are the “linguistic clues” that will betray your status as a Russian troll.

Graciously, Nimmo accepts that simply using imperfect English alone may not be enough evidence to outright brand someone as a paid Kremlin agitator, but if you’ve also been tweeting certain anti-Western “narratives” or indeed articles published by RT — then it’s a sure thing.

In other words, if you’re a non-native English speaker and you tweet anything that could be perceived as being against Western foreign policy, you’re probably working for the Russian government.

Russian-born investigative journalist Yasha Levine responded to Nimmo’s tweet thread calling it “anti-immigrant crap” and explaining that most Russian immigrants he knows occasionally make mistakes like the ones described by Nimmo.

In further tweets, Levine asked Nimmo if he and his family should be “smeared as Russian propaganda bots” for making a simple linguistic mistake and noted how strange it was that this kind of anti-immigrant sentiment was now seen to be acceptable by American liberals.

“The fact that this kind of casual xenophobia — smearing people as propagandists employed by a foreign government because of their imperfect English — is tolerated in liberal circles is infuriating and scary,” Levine wrote.

Levine’s tweets are unlikely to make Nimmo change his mind. He has continued to obsessively tweet screenshots of accounts he suspects of being trolls or sharing ties to the Kremlin, including the account of world-renowned Ukrainian-American pianist Valentina Lisitsa.

So, shape up, Russian immigrants. Nimmo and his fellow troll hunters are on to you.

  • Facebook announced Tuesday that it has removed 135 Facebook and Instagram accounts, and 138 Facebook pages, that were linked to the Internet Research Agency, a notorious Russian troll farm that was indicted for trying to meddle in the 2016 US election.
  • Facebook said the 65 Instagram accounts and 138 Facebook pages reached a combined 1.5 million users around the world. It did not offer data on how many users were reached by the 70 IRA-linked Facebook accounts that have been removed.
  • Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos also said Russia-linked actors had spent nearly $ 170,000 on Facebook and Instagram ads since the beginning of 2015.

Facebook announced Tuesday that it has removed 70 Facebook accounts, 138 Facebook pages, and 65 Instagram profiles linked to a notorious Russian troll factory that spread disinformation in an effort to interfere in the 2016 US election.

Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos said in a news release that 95% of the pages that had been removed were in Russian and targeted Russians or those who speak Russian, particularly in neighboring countries like Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.

Playsaurus, a small Los Angeles-based game studio that makes Clicker Heroes and the upcoming Clicker Heroes 2, has recently been threatened with a lawsuit if it doesn’t pay $ 35,000 for a patent licensing fee to cover a patent for “electronic tokens.”

In a Thursday blog post, the CEO of Playsaurus wrote that the company that sent him the letter, GTX Corporation, is a “patent troll.” CEO Thomas Wolfley called GTX’s demands to avoid “costly litigation” over Playsaurus’ use of electronic “Rubies” in its games “meritless.”

In a brief phone interview with Ars on Friday, Wolfley told Ars that receiving the demand letter was disconcerting.
