“Turned on Mark Radcliffe on 6 Music. Three hours of dirges in store. Turns off radio,” another remarked. A third added: “6music only playing ballads and chill out music this morning, and poor Mark Radcliffe forced to talk like a vicar at a funeral. When is this going to end!!!!!” “Continuous stream of sombre tracks with no DJ speaking. Hopefully some sanity returns soon,” someone else shared. A fifth wrote: “OK @BBC6Music that’s enough, you can let Mark Radcliffe go, he’s done nothing wrong.” Wednesday’s The Goldbergs bid a touching farewell to OG cast member George Segal, who died on March 23 from bypass surgery complications. Although Segal’s final episode was a relatively uneventful one for his character Albert “Pops” Solomon, the half-hour closed with the following heartfelt tribute.
On Twitter, Segal’s Goldbergs daughter, Wendi McLendon-Covey, indicated that Pops’ absence will be addressed onscreen next fall, assuming the sitcom is renewed. “We would NEVER replace George in the role of Pops. If we get a season 9, we will address it then,” McLendon-Covey wrote. Added series creator Adam F. Goldberg (who no longer serves as showrunner): “Fans are asking what’s planned for Pops. Even though my input and stories have not been used this season, I know the way to address this loss is to use my real experience of losing my Grandpa to honor George and my Pops. Hope I’m welcome S9!” Following Segal’s death at the age of 87, Goldbergs tweeted, “Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy. By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark.” Segal was also known for his starring role on NBC’s Just Shoot Me, where he portrayed magazine owner and publisher Jack Gallo for seven seasons. Segal scored an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 1966’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The newsreader is leaving BBC News after a career spanning almost 18 years. Simon McCoy has since announced plans to join up with veteran BBC interviewer Andrew Neil at GB News. Marking his final appearance on BBC News on Thursday, the presenter was clearly moved by the occasion. He admitted to “getting chocked up” after watching a highlight reel paying tribute to some of his most memorable interviews and clips. Speaking following the tribute, Simon said: “Just watching that, yes, we cover the serious stuff but perhaps the most remarkable thing I have ever done is the annual D-Day commemorations at Arromanches and talking to veterans. “Do you know we have a fantastic job, we meet some amazing people.” Fighting back tears, he added: “Sorry, I’m getting choked up. “Just watching that interview, you meet fabulous people.” The popular newsreader built up a strong fanbase of BBC viewers as a result of his dry-humour, hilarious on-screen gaffs and famous sarcastic responses to royal baby news. The news Simon was leaving BBC news broke on Twitter earlier this morning when he began retweeting messages from colleagues who had been paying tribute to the much-loved presenter. He first reposted a tweet from his Floor Manager, Niall Jackson, who posted a series of photographs of them together with the caption: “If you think he’s a handful on-screen, imagine what he’s like off it? Only got to floor manage 4 years of his 17+ at @BBCNews so was nice to do his final week. “Made the dreariest of heavy news days instantly more manageable. May the road rise up to meet you @BBCSimonMcCoy Sláinte.” Meanwhile, GB News founder Andrew Neil announced the BBC host has joined his new venture. Mr Neil wrote on Twitter: “Oh yes. Simon McCoy is joining GB News… another great hire!” Director of News and Programmes, John McAndrew, said: “Simon’s journalistic integrity, warmth and personality is a perfect fit for what we’re doing at GB News. “He’s a brilliant journalist with an exceptional ability to relate to people in an upbeat way so we’re keen to get him out from behind a desk and talking to people from all parts of the United Kingdom.” Each of this evening’s Dancing on Ice semi-finalists took to the rink to perform a personal routine close to their hearts. Deciding to dedicate her second performance to sister Carmen following her death aged 39 after a battle with breast cancer, the grime artist bravely put on a show-stopping routine, racking up high scores from the judging panel. However, Lady Leshurr’s second routine certainly hit home with head judge Christopher Dean who struggled to keep his composure as he praised the ITV contestant. The routine earned Lady Leshurr and partner Brendyn a score of 37 to be combined with the perfect 40 she’d racked up from the first skate. “It’s another huge score,” Phillip Schofield weighed in. “That took everything, didn’t it?” “I mean, I’m just – I’m speechless,” an emotional Lady Leshurr replied before adding: “I hope I did my sister proud, READ MORE: Dancing On Ice backlash: ITV viewers fume as opening routine ‘ruined’ “The brother-in-law, the kids, my mum. I just had an amazing time. “Just to spread more awareness about cancer in general, like I really think it’s good to always be able to speak about things that may be awkward.” A round of applause erupted in the studio before Phillip and Holly Willoughby turned to the judges for their thoughts. Head judge Christopher weighed in: “The simplicity of the skate that made it so powerful, “And, um, just listening to everything that’s gone on -“ Christopher stopped himself midway through his feedback to Lady Leshurr as he became choked up. Fighting through tears, he commended the Dancing on Ice star for the touching tribute and added: “I feel for you.” John Barrowman was similarly emotional and told Lady Leshurr her sister would be “so proud” of what she’d achieved. ITV viewers at home were similarly in tears by the performance, with one saying on Twitter: “How did Lady Leshurr even manage to get through that skate, let alone do it so well? Incredible. #dancingonice.” A second agreed: “Lady Leshurr’s tribute was emotional. I’m sure her family is proud #DancingOnice.” “Beautiful 2nd skate from Lady Leshurr and a wonderful tribute to your sister,” a third fan echoed. While a fourth concurred: “I give Lady Leshurr and Brendyn 10.0 out of 10.0! This brought so much emotion out of me, and that was all I was looking for. Carmen would be proud, @LadyLeshurr. #DancingonIce.” And a fifth added: “So much love to Lady Leshurr and her sister and all of her family. “That is so tough to keep a big illness to yourself. Not only that Lady Leshurr losing her sister and the kids losing both parents. That is so tough to deal with.” Sadly for Lady Leshurr, her efforts weren’t enough to land her a spot in the Dancing on Ice finale. She lost out to Colin Jackson in the skate-off, meaning he, Sonny Jay and Faye Brookes will battle it out for the top spot next week. Dancing on Ice returns to ITV on Sunday. Phillip Schofield, 58, was joined by Holly Willoughby, 39, back in February when he revealed on national television he was gay. The This Morning star has previously spoken about how it was only ever his co-star who he wanted to talk to about his life-changing news live on air as she had become a dear friend to him in his darkest hour. Some months down the line and with his latest autobiography detailing his coming out journey, the ITV presenter still gets very emotional speaking about his colleague, who continues to be a huge support to him. Speaking with Chris Evans, 54, on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show on Friday morning, Phillip broke down in tears when the interviewer began to speak about his co-star. Paying tribute to his friend and colleague, the father-of-two explained: “Holly has been astonishing. Literally, the best mate. “She’s serene and calming and sensible and balanced. Not just for me but also for Steph,” the presenter told the former Top Gear star. The mother-of-three was the very first person at work The Cube host confided in about his secret after sitting down with his wife of 27 years, Steph Lowe, and the couple’s two daughters to explain how he felt about his sexuality. It was in his dressing room the former children’s television presenter spoke candidly to his friend as she became increasingly worried about him. READ MORE: Phillip Schofield breaks down in tears over life-changing moment After Phillip finally told Holly what was playing on his mind a year ago, the presenter said she saw a little white feather outside his dressing room. “She picked it up and gave it to me, and she said ‘see, it’s all going to be okay.’ The feather is still in my wallet,” he explains in his autobiography, Life’s What You Make It. The This Morning presenter went on to tell Chris on Friday why he had to tell those around him and the world what he was going through. “I just wasn’t me anymore. I lost me. And I still haven’t found me, if I’m honest,” the father-of-two admitted. It was on Friday, February 7, 2020, Phillip sat down with Holly on the This Morning sofa to give the interview, taking over from hosts Ruth Langsford, 60, and Eamonn Holmes, 60. Originally, the father-of-two had wanted to make the announcement whilst he and his co-star were presenting the show on Thursday. However, it was his colleague and friend who told him to leave until the end of the week as she didn’t want to present the programme without him. Speaking on The One Show earlier this month, the former children’s television presenter explained: “I said to Holly ‘I’ll do it on a Thursday morning and then I’ll go and you carry on the show with someone else’.” “We were in a bar in London, secretly having this meeting and she said, ‘You’re joking? There’s no chance that you’d leave and I carry on’,” he continued. “And so she said, ‘We’ll do it on a Friday and ask Eamonn and Ruth if we can nick 10 minutes of their show and then we leave together’.” Ruth and Eamonn did carry on the show after offering their support to Phillip, who has continued to host the programme ever since. The presenter has also received support from swathes of the public, as well as many of his famous friends in light of the interview. The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio. This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV. In her final television appearance on Loose Women, the mother-of-two spoke candidly about her life with Coleen Nolan, 55, and Janet Street-Porter, 73. When asked by the former how she wanted to be remembered once she’d passed away, Lynda said: “Just as an honest person. “Honesty. We’ve been through this as Loose Women – you can’t do Loose Women unless you’re honest. You can’t hide anything, it really is honest when we answer questions. “Trust is a huge thing. Not just as an actor, not just as a lover, not just as a wife, that trust thing. Just to say you could trust her.” Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.

As Weekend Update drew to a close, Kate McKinnon — whose impersonation of Ginsberg has become the stuff of SNL legend — appeared in character as the Notorious RBG, seated silently as the audience cheered.
— Saturday Night Live – SNL (@nbcsnl) October 4, 2020
She then placed her hand on her chest as the show transitioned to a title card with the words “Rest in Power” overlaying the late Justice’s robe and signature classes.

McKinnon previously eulogized the Ginsburg in a written statement. “For so many of us, Justice Ginsburg was a real-life superhero: a beacon of hope, a warrior for justice, a robed crusader who saved the day time and again,” she wrote. “Playing her on SNL was a profound joy because I could always feel the overwhelming love and gratitude that the audience had for her. It was one of the great honors of my life to meet Justice Ginsburg, to shake her hand, and to thank her for her lifetime of service to this country.”
In addition to the above-mentioned tribute, the SNL premiere featured Jim Carrey’s first appearance as former Vice President Joe Biden, who stood opposite Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump in a parody of the Sept. 29 presidential debate (watch it here). The Chris Rock-hosted episode also marked the debut of three new featured players: improv vets Lauren Holt, Punkie Johnson and Andrew Dismukes — the latter of whom has been an SNL staff writer since Season 43.

Wakanda — and King T’Challa — forever.
Following a special presentation of Marvel’s Black Panther at 8/7c pm, ABC will remember the late Chadwick Boseman with an ABC News special titled Chadwick Boseman – A Tribute for a King. The film will run commercial-free, leading into the 40-minute tribute, which will begin at 10:20 pm.
The special will celebrate the actor’s life, legacy and career, including the cultural impact he made on- and off-screen. It also will feature tributes from celebrities, political figures and fans across the world, including some of his co-stars, shining a light on the cancer battle he fought privately.
Boseman died Friday following a four-year battle with colon cancer that was never made public. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family wrote on Twitter.
Black Panther stars Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya and Angela Bassett. It follows T’Challa (Boseman) who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to take his rightful place as king.
The film received seven nominations at the 91st Academy Awards including Best Picture, with wins for Best Costume Design, Best Original Score and Best Production Design. Black Panther is the first superhero film to receive a Best Picture nomination and the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to win an Academy Award. It also received three Golden Globe nominations, and secured two Screen Actors Guild wins and three Critics’ Choice awards.

Amber Riley made a special appearance on Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, honoring the memory of Naya Rivera with a powerful performance.
Rivera, who co-starred with Riley on Fox’s Glee (2009–2015), was confirmed dead of a drowning accident five days after being reported missing at California’s Lake Piru. She was just 33 years old.
Riley has already paid tribute to her friend and co-star several times on social media, initially posting the following message to Instagram shortly after Rivera’s death was confirmed by officials: “My favorite duet partner. I love you. I miss you. I don’t have words right now, just lots of feelings. Rest In Peace Angel, and know that your family will never have to worry about anything.”
Another powerful tribute came from Heather Morris, who played Rivera’s on-screen love interest, earlier this month. Speaking directly to fans of their Glee characters’ romance, she said, “I don’t need to explain what the importance of Brittany and Santana’s relationship was to all of you who are watching. Most of you felt like it was your gateway into your current life. Most of you felt like it was an inspiration to become your best self. I want you to know that that was never lost on me. It was never lost on Naya. We both knew how special it was. I think she knew a little bit more than I did.”
Though Rivera was best known for playing Santana Lopez on Glee, she had previously appeared on shows like Family Matters, 8 Simple Rules and The Bernie Mac Show. Following her time on Glee, Rivera lent her talents to shows like Devious Maids and Step Up: High Water. Her final televised appearance was on an episode of Netflix’s Sugar Rush, which debuted on July 31.
Shortly before the tribute aired, Riley found comfort in an old tweet from Cory Monteith, another Glee cast member whose life ended tragically early:
