Pokemon Go Trainer Battles rewards and new PvP attacks (Image: NIANTIC)
Pokemon Go Trainer Battles are now live and provide that PvP experience that has been missing on Android and iOS for the past few years. It’s the closest things we have gotten to the original franchise, although the new battle system is still only limited to PvP encounters. Players aren’t able to battle random Pokemon in the wild and based on what Niantic has said, isn’t something that is currently in the works. The good news is that these new Trainer Battles come with their own rewards, allowing players to earn some top items. Pokemon Go PvP rewards are an essential part of the new experience and should provide plenty of incentive to replay it. POKEMON GO TRAINER BATTLE REWARDS From what has been confirmed by players and Niantic, the new Pokemon Go PvP rewards are pretty useful. By participating you can grab some great items in the process, including extra Stardust and a chance at grabbing special evolution items. This includes the new Sinnoh Stone, essential for unlocking certain Gen 4 type Pokemon. The good news is that there isn’t a limit to how many times you can battle a friend in a day. However, there are limits to how many rewards you can unlock. Once a battle ends, you can request a rematch or send a Friend invite to your opponent, but you can only receive rewards for up to three battles per day. As mentioned above, both players will earn rewards for participating in the battle, but only the winning Trainer will get to level up one of three medals: Great League Veteran, Ultra League Veteran, or Master League Veteran. Players can also challenge one of the Team Leaders to unlock more rewards and practise for PvP. Trainers can earn rewards from doing this once a day and can also level up their Ace Trainer medal. POKEMON GO PVP NOT WORKING Known bugs have been reported and experience by players trying to use Pokemon Go PvP. Trainer Battles not working include a few different, some affecting connection before the battle takes place. There are also known issues with Pokemon Go PvP not working when the battle starts. New Attacks can be unlocked for a high price (Image: NIANTIC) Some Trainers have been left unable to participate while their chosen team gets pummeled. There are no negative effects from withdrawing from a fight, but it does mean starting the Battle process all over again. Other issues include starting battles with their Pokemon already damaged, as well as problems with lag when fighting. Some Battle Requests are not turning up on other player screens, leaving some notifications by the wayside. POKEMON GO NEW ATTACK Pokemon can now learn a new attack which provides more options during a PvP Battle. “Save your Candies (and Stardust)! With the launch of Trainer Battles, Trainers will be able to permanently unlock one additional Charged Attack move for each Pokémon,” Niantic confirms. “With an additional Charged Attack, Trainers have the opportunity to think strategically when approaching each battle! New bug are making some PvP Battles not work (Image: NIANTIC) “Use your extra move to surprise opponents or cover your weaknesses.” This adds another level of strategy to the game and will likely prove popular with hardcore players. However, while it is nice to have new options, they come at a cost. As mentioned above, players will need to spend Candy and Stardust to unlock these new moves. And the price appears to be very high, with Trainer confirming that they have spent a lot on these additions, sometimes by accident. “I was just cleaning out my catches for the day when the update when live. Every Pokemon learn a new attack for 0 candy and 0 Stardust,” One user warns. “I went through and grabbed that for a ton of them until it stopped working. “When I restarted, it began to show that I had blown through over 1M dust and 400 Tyranitar candies to learn the new attack for a completely unstrategic set of Pokemon.” Most players probably don’t have a lot of Candy and Stardust to throw around, but there’s a chance that the cost of this option will need to be dialled back at some point. Pokemon Go Trainer Battles went live this evening, first rolling out to level 40 players. Niantic then rapidly dropped the level requirement until everyone had access to the new feature. There might be a few out there who can still not battle, but that will be attached to their low-level status. “Attention: Level 10 will be the lowest level of Trainers that can access this feature,” Niantic confirms. “For Trainers levels 10 and below, we encourage you to keep catching Pokémon and exploring the world of Pokémon GO! We have no doubt that you’ll be a level 10 Trainer in no time.” So for everyone else this evening, Pokemon Go PvP is now live and available to play with your friends. HOW TO BATTLE IN POKEMON GO While the system is pretty open, Niantic has placed a few rules on how to Battle in Pokemon Go. The first thing to know is that you need to be level 10 or higher, after which the new feature becomes available on iOS and Android. And when it comes to starting a Battle in Pokemon Go, Trainers have a few options. You can either challenge your best friends via the friends tab, or you can challenge nearby Trainers using Battle Codes. If your opponent is not an Ultra Friend or Best Friend, you can still fight but will need to will need to be in close proximity to start a battle using your Battle Code. To access the new Pokemon Go Battle Screen, head down to the bottom right on the map screen and select the “Nearby” Tab. A new Battle Tab has been added alongside the usual Raid options, and this is where you can select to use a Battle Code. The Battle Code appears next to your Trainer avatar. When another Trainer scans your Battle Code, you will be sent a Battle Challenge. To send a Battle Challenge, tap on the CHALLENGE A TRAINER button to scan an opponent’s Battle Code. Alternatively, Trainers can also Battle the Pokemon Go Team Leaders instead, although that’s a different mode and comes with its own rewards. Battle Codes cannot be used twice and will generate new ones every time you start Pokemon Go. BATTLING FRIENDS To send a Battle Challenge to an Ultra or Best friend, you need to access Map View, navigate to your Trainer Profile and tap the Friends tab at the top of the screen to open your Friends List. You can then select a Friend that you wish to challenge and then Tap the new Battle icon. If your friendship is high enough, you will then be able to tap on LET’S BATTLE! to send the Challenge. After you send a Battle Challenge, the next step is to select a League. Leagues ensure Pokémon always match up against a battle party of comparable strength by their Combat Power (CP). You can choose from three different Leagues to compete in: POKEMON GO TRAINER BATTLES RULES You can only select three Pokémon for your battle party and will start with Pokémon automatically recommended based on their Combat Power (CP). The Battle will follow a similar pattern to Raids, you will do quick attack until you have charged your special attack and then you will need to tap some more when it is charging. The main difference is that you will be able to use a protective shield twice during the match. If you choose to defend during that round to soften the blow of an incoming attack, tap the screen during this sequence to fortify your Pokémon and build the shield. The good news is that both players will earn rewards for participating in the battle, but only the winning Trainer will get to level up one of three medals: Great League Veteran, Ultra League Veteran, or Master League Veteran. A rematch is offered at the end of each match and players can battle as often as they like, but will only receive rewards for up to three battles per day. Pokemon Go Trainer Battles and PvP modes are now live and can be played on Android and iOS. While many Trainers will be trying to find out how to battle in Pokemon Go, Niantic has not set their new feature live yet. The good news is that we aren’t far away and players on Android and iOS are starting to download the important Pokemon Go PvP update. This has been confirmed by the official patch notes shared by Niantic on the Google PlayStore. They include details on how the new Trainer Battles will work and revealing that they are included in the latest build. POKEMON GO PVP PATCH NOTES Trainers can now challenge someone nearby to a Trainer Battle by scanning their Battle Code. Trainers can send remote Trainer Battle challenges to their Ultra Friends or Best Friends. Trainers can also Trainer Battle against team leaders. Trainer Battles take place in one of three different Trainer Battle Leagues, and each requires a team of three Pokémon. Each Trainer Battle League has different Pokémon CP limits. New hair colours and skin tones will be available for Trainer avatars. POKEMON GO TRAINER BATTLES RELEASE Niantic hasn’t provided a set time or date for when the new Pokemon Go Trainer Battles will go live. With the new update now being released, it seems likely that the new feature will be turned on in the next 48hrs. Thursday seems like a good bet, however, it appears Trainers will be enjoying the new Pokemon Go PvP features at different times. The first step will be for Niantic to force the update on all devices, which isn’t something that has happened yet. This will be followed by Niantic turning on the new feature in the game, something that is expected to happen soon. However, when it does begin, only the highest level Trainers will be able to play. Like in the past, Niantic has chosen for the new Trainer Battles to be tested out first by level 40 fans. This will allow for a short testing phase, and will also steady the game servers against any surges. After this, Niantic will slowly drop the level requirements until everyone has access to the new PvP features. Here’s some of the latest news shared by the Pokemon Go dev team on the impending release. “When we release Pokémon GO Trainer Battles, we will be rolling out the feature in stages, starting with level 40 Trainers. We do this so that we can confirm the feature is running smoothly before we begin to release the feature out to more Trainers. “While this means that Trainers of lower levels will have to wait before they can access this feature, we follow this process to ensure that there are no major disruptions during your #GOBattle experience.” This was followed by news that Sinnoh Stones will be among the rewards available to earn through Team Leader battles: “Looking to improve your Trainer Battle skills but don’t have anyone nearby to train with you? No worries! When Trainer Battles launch, Trainers will be able to practice battling against team leaders Spark, Candela, and Blanche! “Team leaders Spark, Candela, and Blanche are available at any time of the day, and Trainers who battle against them can change the degree of difficulty of their practice Trainer Battle by selecting different Battle Leagues. “While improving your battle skills is its own reward, Trainers who practice battling against one of the team leaders can also earn rewards, such as Stardust, once per day! Battle wins gained through this training mode also count toward earning an Ace Trainer medal!” More Pokemon Go PvP release news is expected to be shared by Niantic in the coming day. Personal trainers are big business, but when you work out with Cory Crosby, you get someone who honed his skills in the big house. During an eight-year stretch for armed robbery, Crosby, now 29, became a fitness devotee, chiseling his body from 200 pounds to a muscular 165 with a core-focused bodyweight workout he devised. The business card for 2 Real Fitness Studio, his 5-month-old Missouri studio, says it all: “No faking over here, it’s too real!” Crosby has become part of the small but growing market of ex-con fitness gurus, a tag that differentiates their studios from America’s 30,000 gyms. Arguably the most famous of these former felons is Coss Marte, who opened ConBody in New York after serving a four-year sentence for dealing drugs. Others have gone the book route, with titles like Jailhouse Workout, Felon Fitness and Cell Workout.
Having a trainer with a criminal past adds a certain hard-boiled authenticity. Around 636,000 people in the United States get released from prison every year. The recidivism rate, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, is approximately 76 percent. The causes are many and complex, but one factor is the limited opportunities available to those with a criminal record. The fitness world, however, is unusual in that having a trainer with a criminal past adds a certain hard-boiled authenticity — such trainers are not messing around, they know how to get results. “There are a lot of common traits between ex-cons and entrepreneurs,” Crosby says. Working for yourself, staying focused and a willingness to challenge the system, for starters — but there are also some telling differences. “A hustler is willing to risk life and freedom,” he says. “An entrepreneur calculates the risk more so it will be worth it.” That said, the path from ex-con to entrepreneur is seen as the best route for avoiding recidivism, according to “From Inmates to Entrepreneurs,” a May 2016 report from the Centre of Entrepreneurs. Report author Maximilian Yoshioka says that prisoners tend to be better suited to entrepreneurial work than the majority of the worldwide population is. And he understands why former inmates might be drawn to the fitness space. “Many prisoners find working out is a way of gaining respect and security [in prison],” he explains. “Once released, they may find helping others attain physical fitness a convenient and fulfilling way of earning money.” Plus, ex-cons without much education find low barriers to entry when applying for work in professional gyms. Of course, the benefits of getting inmates involved in fitness go beyond postprison entrepreneurship. A Prisoners’ Education Trust report titled “Fit for Release” detailed how a concerted push for fitness in prison leads to lower recidivism rates. “Many prisoners have had bad experiences of schooling and won’t engage in the conventional classroom environment,” wrote co-author Nina Champion. “Sport offers an effective and powerful way in which to embed numeracy and literacy, promote higher-level learning, and motivate prisoners who may be difficult to engage in other resettlement, educational or psychological interventions.” With skills and motivational training, ex-cons can find themselves on a fast track to a fitness career. Boutique studios are the fastest-growing segment of the gym industry, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association, making up around 40 percent of all facilities, up from 21 percent in 2013. Josh Leve, CEO of the Association of Fitness Studios, says he’s seen a growth in revenue across the U.S. in recent years, with more than 100,000 studios generating nearly $ 2 billion in revenue. In such a crowded field, the challenge is to stand out. Gyms have tried every kind of gimmick to distinguish themselves, from boxing-yoga mashups to cultish havens like SoulCycle and Orangetheory. Or, now, working out in a faux jail cell. That’s where 27-year-old Shane Ennover, a former bank robber, trains his ConBody clients. The studio features strip lighting, a cell door and a wall of mug-shot-styled selfies — suggested hashtag, #dothetime. Like a boot camp drill sergeant who’s served time for crossing the line, Ennover barks orders, corrects positions and pushes clients to work harder. At one point, he deals a deck of cards in front of the class — diamonds mean pushups, hearts equal jumping jacks, etc., with participants required to perform the same number of reps as the number on the card. “This is how we did it in prison,” he says. Later, I ask Ennover why none of the cards had a number lower than eight. “What do you expect?” he responds. “I’m a convict; these cards are rigged.” Cory Crosby acknowledges ConBody’s success, but he takes issue with their message. “I don’t agree with promoting prison, because that’s a mentality I’m trying to break — kids here think that if they go to jail, they’ll get extra street cred,” he says. His studio is spartan, his graffitied logo the only hint to his past. Compared with other ex-con entrepreneurs, Crosby seems less interested in promoting the felon part of his enterprise. Which means no Prison & Pints pub crawl, a popular offering at ConBody. “I want to introduce a healthier lifestyle to my community and show them that any goals can be reached with hard work,” says Crosby. Pokemon Go Trainer Club is down, leaving some fans unable to connect to the Niantic smartphone app. The Pokemon Go server status doesn’t make good reading for fans, some of whom can’t get past the login screen. There have been hundreds of offline reports on Down Detector, which measures outage reports for popular apps, websites and online services. Problems with the PTC began last night, although they were believed to have been fixed. “We’re currently investigating reports that Trainers using Pokemon Trainer Club are encountering login issues,” A Niantic support message reads. This was followed by another tweet: “Trainers, login issues have been resolved.” One fan tweeted: “Cannot log in via Pokémon Trainer Club. App crashed around 8.15am BST whilst I was playing. Repeatedly try to sign in , error message “Unable to authenticate. Please try again” when will this be fixed please?” Another writes: “Upset 6 year old who is a daily player, missing out on getting his daily stamps and all the other things he loves to do on Pokémon go!!! This needs to be resolved, even logging in via google doesn’t work as well as trainer club!!!” Somebody else tweeted: “Pokémon GO Trainers Club not working…. Please help…” The issues don’t appear to be affecting everybody, so leave a comment if you’re able to login. Express Online will keep you posted as the situation develops. The players unable to login are missing out on Pokemon Go Battle Event bonuses. As part of the Pokemon Go Battle Event, Trainers can expect to encounter more fighting-type Pocket Monsters. This includes battle-hardened Pokemon like Machop, Makuhita, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. “It’s time to test the strength of your Pokemon during a special battle event!” Niantic explains. “Fighting-type Pokemon, such as Machop and Makuhita, will appear more frequently in the wild starting May 1 at 1:00 p.m. PDT. “Our Battle Showdown is sure to pack a punch, so don’t miss it!” Niantic have confirmed that there are issues tonight for those Pokemon Go players trying to sign in using Trainer Club. “We’re currently investigating reports that Trainers using Pokémon Trainer Club are encountering login issues,” A Niantic support message reads. That was posted over an hour ago, and there hasn’t been any further updates on what has caused tonight’s outage. It appears that the problem is being caused by Sign In issues, rather than all Pokemon Go servers being down. Further updates are expected from Niantic, who usually post more information when issues have been resolved. Players have been without access for over an hour tonight, with problems starting in the evening for UK Trainers. It appears that players logging into the game using different means and account have not been affected by tonight’s sign in issues. While reports of issues logging in are going down, many are still reporting problems with the Pokemon Go servers tonight. Unfortunately for those affected, Niantic have not posted any kind of ETA on when today’s issues could be resolved by. Niantic have also announced a new range of events being worked on, which includes the returning Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago. It was recently announced that a new Pokemon Go Summer 2018 Tour, is taking place in the US and Europe. Pokemon Go Fest will be returning to Chicago’s Lincoln Park on July 14 and July 15. “Pokemon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park will offer a unique, immersive play experience unseen anywhere else that will create a daylong adventure for Trainers,” a Niantic post reads. “The event will be held in the city’s historic Lincoln Park, with a 1.8-mile walking course that, among the tree-lined greenery, will include exclusive activities for Trainers of all ages.” MFL… The 31-year-old has been absent from the sport for almost two years since losing in gruesome fashion to Canelo Alvarez in 2016, jumping up two divisions to challenge for the middleweight world title. Despite boxing well for the first half of the fight, he was knocked out in brutal fashion in the sixth round as the Mexican’s physical superiority proved too much to handle. “The reason I took the Canelo fight is that I got quite desperate,” he explained to Sky Sports this week. “I really wanted a big super fight and I wanted my name up on the Vegas strip. It’s always been my dream. “The mistake I made in there was my own fault. I dropped my left hand and I got caught over the top with Canelo’s right hand. “I would rather be knocked out with one big shot instead of taking numerous punches and getting stopped that way, so I’m glad it was just that one shot.” On Saturday night, the Bolton man will begin his quest to reclaim a world title when he takes on Canadian Lo Greco at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. And the former unified light-welterweight champion will have to do it without the help of long-time trainer Virgil Hunter, who has stepped away from the sport with undisclosed health problems. Joe Goossen is the man who been has selected to replace veteran cornerman Hunter and Khan admitted he is feeling the nerves ahead of his return to the limelight. “I am a little bit nervous but I know my fitness is right, I’ve trained hard for this,” he said. “I do feel a lot better than I did at 28. I’m 31 now, I’m at the peak of my career, I know I have a bit left in me to come back. “I want to win another world title, that’s what keeps me going.” Speaking about his relationship with Goossen, Khan claimed the 64-year-old, who has trained the likes of Shane Mosley and Rafael Ruelas, has kept him sharp. “He’s a trainer that’s always watching you. When I’m training he’ll always be watching me, I’ve seen videos of him just watching me,” he continued. “He doesn’t take his eyes off me, seeing what mistakes I’m making, telling me whilst I’m training, ‘Amir your left hand’s dropping, your right hand’s dropping, keep your hands up higher’. “It’s nice to have someone like him there, he’s experienced he’s trained some great champions in his day, and I still believe he’s a great trainer, I’m glad to have him here.”

When you’re trying to get fit, having a rest day can reduce your momentum. One day off can quickly turn into two, three, or four — and before you know it a week has gone by without a visit to the gym.
Manageable training programmes that recommend a “little and often” approach — like the viral seven-minute workout — have soared in popularity for this reason. Who can’t spare less than 10 minutes in a day?See the rest of the story at Business Insider

Getting to the gym and building a level of fitness can seem more difficult in your 60s and above, but Britain’s oldest personal trainer is encouraging people of all ages to get back in the gym.
Eddy Diget, 73, who is Britain’s oldest personal trainer and trains at DW Fitness First, believes that you should be fitter than ever before as you enter your older years.
Appearing on ITV’s Tonight series at 7:30pm tonight, he set up an OAP Bootcamp for those who are elderly or physically less able.
He said: “I believe that the older you are, the more physically active you should be than ever before – to maintain the rest of your life!
“In your 50s or 60s and you finally have the time to prioritise staying healthy to enjoy all your later years.”
He added: “I’m 73 and I was doing 350 kilo leg presses yesterday.
“I’ve always said I want people to look at me in a coffin one day and say ‘he looks too good as a corpse!’”
Eddy’s inspirational message is that exercise is for everyone, no matter what your age is or whether you are suffering from a health condition.
“Ninety percent of the time, older people believe there is no reason to exercise. They listen to friends – or even professionals – who advise they can’t do this or that and often they end up doing nothing.
“I train people with who are partially sighted, have spinal bifida and cancer.
While exercise does not cure illness – in many cases – it can effectively help to manage symptoms.”
So how do you keep fit as you get older? Eddy has outlined two moves to help you get back in the gym.
1 Sit on a chair, position a broom across your lap, bend forward sliding the broom’s handle over your knees to your ankles. Sit up and repeat.
2 Lean against a wall holding a broom handle at shoulder height, turn to the right and then the left, ensuring you are turning your head in the direction of movement. Return to centre and repeat.
He has also provided three tips for those over 60 wanting to return to looking after their bodies.
Live your life instead of sitting down and thinking about living it
Find something you enjoy. Whether that’s swimming, canoeing or mountaineering!
Listen to your body, if you find it’s too much, simply back off. When first starting out, remember you are a baby learning to crawl, not to walk.
Lastly, Eddy outlined the universal benefits of exercise for people of all ages.
He said: “From improvement of blood flow to creating a stronger immune and slowing the ageing process, the benefits of exercise are plenty – and importantly, exercise just makes you want to get up in the morning!”
