A TikTok influencer and former Miss Canada semi-finalist died after accidentally deploying her parachute too late during her first solo skydive.
Tanya Pardazi's TikTok account mostly focused on giving her nearly 100,000 fans views on philosophy, science, and her daily life.
The 21-year-old was taking a skydiving course at Skydive Toronto in Ontario when she failed to open her parachute early enough during her first solo jump in late August, according to a statement from the company.
"The skydiver released a quickly rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time / altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate," the statement read.
"The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed among the student's new friends and fellow jumpers of Skydive Toronto Inc."
Followers have flooded Pardazi's TikTok comments with condolences following her death.
"I literally cannot believe she's gone. I've never met her, but she's been a huge inspiration for me. Rest in peace," one commenter wrote on Pardazi's last TikTok post.
She was a philosophy student at the University of Toronto and competed in the Miss Canada beauty pageant in 2017.
Skydive Toronto said it is cooperating with local police, and that the company "has been profoundly affected by this accident as they have refined their student training program for over 50 years," according to the report from Yahoo News.

]]>Toronto FC, unwilling to meet the Italian international's contract demands, sold Giovinco to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal FC on Wednesday.
Toronto had already turned down one bid for the Atomic Ant from a Middle East club. But facing an impasse in contact negotiations, it got what it could for Giovinco on Wednesday with the January FIFA transfer window about to close.
Toronto did not provide details of the transfer fee.
Despite Giovinco's protestations that he liked Toronto and wanted to stay here, it appears it came down to 'Show me the money.' While the 32-year-old Giovinco said he thought he had another six years left in his playing career, who can blame him for hitting up the Saudi ATM while he could.
"I'd like to thank the fans and my teammates for four special years playing for Toronto FC," Giovinco said in a statement. "I'd also like to thank the club for helping me as I transition into the next phase of my career."
Better bring a wheelbarrow.
TFC had been in daily talks with Giovinco's agent about a new deal, according to team president Bill Manning. The Italian was the top earner in MLS last year at $ 7.115 million US.
Manning said he had offered a new deal that would have put him in the top six or seven in the league, which last season meant at least $ 5 million a year.
"They [the Giovinco camp] don't like it," Manning said in an interview Tuesday night.
Giovinco, who wears his heart on his sleeve, had made it clear he wanted the matter resolved. Toronto wanted a happy Giovinco but was not going to fling money at him, given his age.
Plus it knew he was able to sign a pre-contract with another club come July.

"He leaves Toronto as the greatest player in club history," Manning said graciously. "We wish Seba and his family nothing but the best as he begins a new chapter."
The former MLS MVP had missed pre-season training this week in California with a club spokesman saying Giovinco had been excused due to "leg tightness."
But Giovinco, whose MLS deal was expiring at the end of the 2019 season, was unhappy with the progress of contract negotiations. His camp rattled the cage, with Giovinco staying at a separate hotel. And then a winning bid with money to spend emerged.
Giovinco's contract negotiations had been "heightened" by external pressures, according to Manning, with the presence of so-called soccer brokers, well-connected promoters who look to strike deals that agents then attempt to consummate with the clubs in question.
A match was made Wednesday.
Giovinco's departure leaves Toronto in a bind given Spanish playmaker Victor Vazquez has decamped to Qatar's Al-Arabi SC. But new GM Ali Curtis offered some optimism.
"His departure presents both challenges and opportunities," Curtis said of Giovinco. "Obviously, replacing a player like Sebastian is difficult, but we are working diligently and are confident that we will be adding a new designated player in the near future who will be an exciting addition to our team."
The little man leaves huge boots to fill. Giovinco was perhaps the best player ever to grace MLS.
Giovinco, Toronto's all-time leading scorer with more than a few club records, and Vazquez accounted for 21 goals and 24 assists last season. And they were largely responsible for TFC's creativity on offence. Both made the players around them better.

Their departure strengthens the bargaining position of striker Jozy Altidore, whose contract also expires at the end of the 2019 season. Take away Altidore and you have young backups in Ayo Akinola, Jordan Hamilton and Jon Bakero, who have seven regular-season goals between them.
Juventus' loss was MLS' gain when Giovinco came on board in 2015, terrorizing defenders with his pace and guile. He could finish with both feet and was deadly from set pieces.
In four seasons with Toronto, Giovinco had 68 goals and 52 assists in 114 regular-season games (111 starts). He won MVP honours in his debut 2015 season, when he was directly involved in 65 per cent of Toronto's 58 goals with 22 goals and 16 assists.
In all competitions, he had 83 goals and 64 assists in 142 appearances.
He was named to the MLS Best XI three times (2015, 2016, 2017) and was an MLS all-star four times (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). Giovinco won the George Gross Memorial Trophy as Canadian Championship MVP (2017), CONCACAF Champions League Golden Ball (2018) and was named to both the CONCACAF and CONCACAF Champions League Best XI in 2018.
During his remarkable 2015 MVP season, five goals came from free kicks and three from penalties. Twelve were scored from inside the penalty box with 10 from outside. Eighteen came from his right foot and four from his left.
Giovinco conjured up gorgeous goals from all angles.
There were audacious chips that wrong-footed goalies while seeming to defy physics. Swerving runs that left defenders tied in knots. And power shots that nobody could stop.
"One for the ages," MLS executive vice-president Todd Durbin said in awarding Giovinco the Landon Donovan Most Valuable Player Award.
Giovinco virtually ran the table in his first year in North America. He won the Golden Boot as top scorer, was named top newcomer and voted onto the league's Best XI.
Giovinco, deceptively strong for five foot four and 135 pounds, was fouled a league-high 90 times in 2015. Still he only missed one game, due to an adductor injury.
He scored 14 career MLS goals directly from free kicks in the regular season with six in 2017 — the most in a single season in MLS history (since 2003 when the league started tracking them). He also had one direct free kick goal in the MLS playoffs.
As Giovinco went, so did Toronto.
TFC made the playoffs for the first time in his first year, reached the MLS Cup final in 2016 and won it all in 2017, capturing the MLS championship, Supporters' Shield and Canadian Championship.
Giovinco did not take losing well as he showed after the season-ending 3-0 playoff loss in Montreal in 2016.
"He exploded and the locker room felt it," coach Greg Vanney said at the time. "Some of the chairs and various things felt it. He's passionate about winning."

The Houston Rockets had their most impressive win in recent weeks by beating the Raptors, who are second in the Eastern Conference.
The win kept the Rockets fifth in the Western Conference, secure in the playoff places.
Harden also maintained his record of consecutive 30+ point games.
He has scored more than 30 in his last 22 games, and showed no signs of stopping against the Raptors.
After dropping 61 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, he took more of a back seat role against the Raptors.
And speaking after the game, Harden explained that he is willing to let his team-mates take more shots if needed.
“I’m just trying to do whatever it takes to win,” he said.
“Honestly, if I have to score a lot of points tonight [I would have].
“My teammates were making shots, Kenneth brought amazing energy.
“It was a great team effort.
“Whatever the team needs me to do, I’m willing to do.”
The game went right down to the wire, with the Rockets up by two while the Raptors had the ball with 15 seconds left.
Kawhi Leonard took the ball down court, and Harden guarded him effectively.
The Raptors star airballed, giving the win to Houston.
And Harden admitted that he knew exactly what Leonard was going to do.
“I knew he was going to pull up for the three,” he said.
“I was just trying to contest it as good as possible.
“He hit two big three’s previously, it was kind of sloppy, but we won. That’s all that matters.”
An off-season of change continued for the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday as the team dealt catcher Russell Martin to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a pair of minor-league prospects.
The move came a month after the Blue Jays gave another high-priced veteran — shortstop Troy Tulowitzki — his release.
Like the Tulowitzki decision, Toronto will be eating a lot of Martin's salary. The Canadian is owed $ 20 million US this season and reports indicate the Dodgers will only be on the hook for a fraction of it. Rogers Sportsnet, whose parent company owns the team, reported the Jays will pay between $ 16-$ 18 million to the Dodgers.
Joining the Blue Jays are right-hander Andrew Sopko and infielder Ronny Brito.

Sopko, who played 14 games for the double-A Tulsa Drillers last season, had a 3-1 record with a 3.88 earned-run average. A seventh-round pick in 2015, the 24-year-old has a career minor-league record of 27-17 with a 3.61 ERA with 363 strikeouts over 394 1/3 innings.
Brito, 19, split last season between the Dominican Summer League Dodgers and the rookie-level Ogden Raptors, hitting .295 over 61 games.
The trade sends Martin back to the team that drafted him in 2002. The 35-year-old from Chelsea, Que., spent his first five big-league seasons with the Dodgers.
Martin signed with Toronto as a free agent in November 2014. He helped the Blue Jays make back-to-back American League Championship Series appearances in 2015 and 2016.
The four-time all-star has also played for the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates over his 13-year big-league career. Martin's numbers have tailed off in recent seasons and his playing time has diminished.
He made 90 appearances last season and hit .194 with a 10 homers and 25 RBIs. Martin is slated to become a free agent at the end of the 2019 season.
Tulowitzki recently signed with the Yankees for the major-league minimum of $ 555,000. That will be offset against the $ 20 million that he's owed for 2019 by the Blue Jays, who are also on the hook to pay him $ 14 million for 2020 along with a $ 4-million buyout of a 2021 team option.
Toronto is in full teardown mode after two straight disappointing seasons. The Blue Jays finished fourth in the American League East last year with a 73-89 record.
The Blue Jays have been stockpiling prospects and will field a young team in 2019 with an eye to returning to contention two or three years down the road.
Also on Friday, Associated Press reported the Jays will sign right-hander David Phelps to a $ 2.5 million US, one-year contract, a deal that could be worth $ 13.75 million over two seasons.
Phelps, a 32-year-old free agent who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, can earn an additional $ 3.25 million in performance bonuses this year as part of the agreement, and the Blue Jays have a $ 1 million team option for 2020 that could escalate to $ 8 million depending on appearances and games finished this year.
He tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching arm on March 17 during his final pitch in a spring training outing against the Los Angeles Angels, and he had surgery March 26.
Phelps was 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 10 relief appearances in 2017 for Seattle, which acquired him from Miami that July 20. He had a $ 5.55 million salary last season.
During six major league seasons with the New York Yankees (2012-14), Miami (2015-17) and the Mariners, Phelps is 30-33 with a 3.89 ERA and five saves in 64 starts and 164 relief appearances.

Trevor Moore was an undrafted walk-on at rookie camp in the summer of 2016.
Just over a week ago, Michael Hutchinson was battling to get back in the NHL.
The perseverance shown by both players paid off Saturday.
"It was surreal," Moore, 23, said following in his fifth NHL game. "I got chills."
Hutchinson, meanwhile, was playing for the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds when Toronto acquired him from the Florida Panthers on Dec. 29 in a move aimed at boosting the organization's goaltending depth.
The 28-year-old was pressed into action Thursday with both Frederik Andersen (groin) and backup Garret Sparks (concussion) out injured, finishing with 30 saves in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Now he has a shutout for the team he cheered for growing up in nearby Barrie, Ont.
Watch Hutchinson, Leafs blank Canucks:
"It's hard to imagine," Hutchinson said of how much his life changed in only eight days. "Being in Springfield, you don't know where your season's going and how things are going to turn out."
The shutout was his fourth in the NHL and first since Oct. 28, 2016, when he was a member of the Winnipeg Jets.
"You're just kind of grinding away [in the minors]," Hutchinson added. "Things change really quick in pro hockey.
"Definitely looking forward to tonight [and] getting a chance to take a step back and really enjoy this moment."
Andersen and Sparks were both in Toronto's locker-room to congratulate Hutchinson before their new teammate had time to peel off his gear that still includes Florida's colours.
"Goalies tend to bond pretty quick," Hutchinson said.
Auston Matthews had a goal and two assists, Andreas Johnsson scored once and set up another, and John Tavares and Igor Ozhiganov provided the rest of the offence for Toronto (27-12-2), which snapped a two-game slide that came on the heels of five straight wins.
"We played pretty well," Leafs head coach Mike Babcock said. "When we put our work in front of our skill we've got a chance to have success."
Watch 9 NHL mid-season predictions in 90 seconds:
Jacob Markstrom stopped 29 shots for Vancouver (20-21-4). The Canucks, who wrapped up a six-game road trip, have been shut out in three of their last four outings.
"We looked tired," Canucks head coach Travis Green said. "That's not a team that you really want to play tired against."
Playing a third game in four nights, Vancouver was minus star rookie centre Elias Pettersson after he injured his right knee in the second period of Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
Green said the 20-year-old, who leads the Canucks and all NHL rookies with 42 points, is expected to miss at least a week with a slight sprain to his medial collateral ligament.
Vancouver went 3-3-0 in the six games without an injured Pettersson earlier this season, but scored just 11 goals over that span, including nine in regulation.
"If you want to win hockey games, you've got to score," Canucks centre Bo Horvat said. "I'd be more worried if we weren't getting our chances, but we are. It's just a matter of bearing down."
The Leafs made it 2-0 at 14:30 on Moore's first in the NHL. The speedy winger from Thousand Oaks, Calif., blew past Derrick Pouliot — it wasn't a good period for Canucks defenceman — before beating Markstrom between the pads.
Moore tried not to crack a smile on the bench as the crowd at Scotiabank Arena rose to its feet in approval after the milestone was announced.
"It was really tough to keep a straight face," he said. "It was really cool."
Johnsson made it 4-0 with his ninth, firing upstairs shortside on Markstrom at 11:55 before Ozhiganov added insult to injury with his second at 14:49 when the defenceman fired a pass that went in off Gudbranson's skate.
From there, the Leafs made sure Hutchinson got his shutout.
"It's an amazing feeling," said the goalie. "It's something you grow up thinking about."

Toronto police have charged six students in connection with an alleged gang sexual assault at St. Michael's College School that was captured on camera and shared on social media.
Deputy Chief James Ramer said five students turned themselves in on Monday, while another was arrested on his way to school. All six boys are facing multiple criminal charges and will be considered young offenders.
Each student has been charged with:
The charges stem from a sexual assault investigation at the private, all-boys Catholic school that was launched last week. Insp. Dominic Sinopoli, who heads Toronto police's sex crimes unit, told reporters police are now looking into two allegations of sexual assault and two allegations of assault.
Sinopoli said the incidents started as hazing.
Sinopoli said police have reason to believe there are more victims and more videos out there, and said he's "very concerned" that graphic video of the alleged sexual assault is still out there on social media.
The Canadian Press spoke with police sources who confirmed that the charges filed Monday involved a group of students on the football team allegedly pinning down another student in a locker room and sexually assaulting him with a broom handle.
Police at the news conference also said the midtown Toronto school is currently dealing with a bomb threat.
The school, which has expelled eight students in connection with the allegations, said it supports the police force's move to file criminal charges.
We fully support the decision of the Toronto Police Service decision to arrest six of our expelled students. We believe charges are absolutely appropriate in these circumstances. We will continue to work in full cooperation with the police as they continue their investigation.

In LeBron James' first season in Miami, the Heat started 9-8. In James' first season back in Cleveland, the Cavaliers began 5-7. This year, in James' first in Los Angeles, the Lakers are 7-6.
Even for the best player in the world, new beginnings have never come easy.
But for Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors, the unlikely partnership couldn't have started any smoother.
At the time of the trade that sent Toronto icon DeMar DeRozan, budding centre Jakob Poeltl, and a protected first-round pick to San Antonio for Leonard and Danny Green, critics were wary of the Raptors' off-court fit.
It's no secret that DeRozan and Kyle Lowry are best friends; how would Lowry adjust? It's also no secret that Leonard is reportedly seeking a return home to Los Angeles; how would he fare in the north?
And, most importantly: would those issues infect the basketball team as a whole?
Thirteen games in and the answer is a resounding "No." And in an interesting twist, two of the Raptors' top competitors in the East have struggled to re-integrate their own key players.
For various reasons, Gordon Hayward's second crack with the Boston Celtics and Markelle Fultz's first full season with the Philadelphia 76ers have not gone swimmingly. And it's left those teams staring up at the 12-1 Raptors.
The Raptors, whose one loss came without Leonard, have beaten both Atlantic division rivals and led by double digits in every game but one.
So how have the Raptors been so good at something James has now failed at thrice?
For starters, none of the off-court issues have presented themselves. Lowry didn't say a word in the off-season, which concerned some. Turns out, his reason for silence, as told to ESPN's The Undefeated, was completely rational.
"My best friend in the world [DeRozan] got traded. He was upset. Things were hectic," Lowry said. "For me, I'm going to support him and I have his back. But I understand it's a business, and everyone made peace with it. And everyone continued to do great things."
Lowry leads the league with 11 assists per game, easily a career high. His shooting percentage also represents a career high (49.7 per cent). And to watch Lowry is to watch a player clearly in command of his team – someone who understands exactly where Serge Ibaka wants the ball to help him to a recent 27 of 30 shooting stretch.
The point guard also leads the league in charges drawn with nine, in case you were still concerned about effort.
"I'm fueled by everything," Lowry said. "It's not even bad fuel. It's good fuel. I try to think as positive as possible. Everything happens for a reason. You can't get mad about things you can't control. All you can control is yourself."
Lowry's control is why Leonard's transition to Toronto has been so seamless. In fact, Leonard has taken to Toronto quite well.
"It's basically like being in New York," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm enjoying the city so far, but I have a lot I'd like to venture off and see still."
So Leonard's main issue with Toronto, almost one month into his first season, is that there's too much to do. A good problem to have.
In fact, the Raptors' roster is filled with good problems. Third-string centre Greg Monroe probably doesn't deserve his end-of-bench treatment, but Ibaka and Jonas Valanciunas are playing too well to be supplanted.
Toronto's rotation legitimately runs 11 deep, which is useful when Leonard still isn't 100 per cent healthy, and isn't yet playing back-to-backs.
But when Leonard is in the lineup, his presence is obvious. Besides averaging 24.4 points along with a career-high 7.9 rebounds per game, Leonard is a menace defensively, constantly harassing the opposing team's best player into turnovers. This was no clearer than against the 76ers when Ben Simmons committed 11 turnovers on his own.
Watch Leonard's defensive dominance:
Leonard's integration into the Raptors has been simple.
"I've been playing this my whole life. It's a big life adjustment. You're in a different country. You're not used to some of the things or the cities out here. But, really, it's the same thing as when you're in the United States," Leonard said.
"It's still basketball."
More tests await this week, as the Raptors take on Anthony Davis' New Orleans Pelicans before former head coach Dwane Casey makes his return to Toronto. Then, on Friday, the Raptors will travel to Boston to square off against their Eastern rival.
Stay tuned.

A skinny dipper has risked life and limb to swim with sharks in the enclosure for dangerous marine animals at one of the largest aquariums in Toronto, Canada.
The bizarre stunt unfolded at Ripley’s Aquarium on Friday night, when a naked man reportedly dived into the Dangerous Lagoon shark tank and began swimming around.
Eyewitnesses told the CBC that the brazen daredevil ignored warnings from security staff and even did a second backflip into the tank, where spectators can usually watch sharks behind the safety of reinforced glass.

Video footage of the incident has now emerged online, showing the moment the unidentified man paddled around with the sharks. He managed to get out of the tank unscathed and no animals were injured in the prank, the aquarium owners have confirmed.
Ripley’s Aquarium, located near the famous CN Tower, has now provided surveillance footage of the incident to police, reported CTV News. According to the aquarium’s website, the Dangerous Lagoon holds a wide array of sharks as well as two sea turtles and green sawfish.

“The guy seemed totally relaxed and there were sharks like everywhere,” eyewitness Erinn Acland told CBC Toronto. “He appeared to be totally nude and laughing,” she added.
