Men, it seems, are not the only ones who enjoy lifting weights. Nowadays, you’re just as likely to see women in the gym, squatting, benching, and deadlifting, as men. The ‘Girls that lift’ movement is now very much established, and we think that’s awesome.

Years ago, if you walked into a gym, more often than not, the sight you would be greeted with would be a weight room full of men, and a cardio room full of women. Women were generally advised to stay away from weights as it was wrongly believed that lifting weights would turn them into hulking she-beasts.

As research was conducted, and as common sense began to prevail, people found that lifting weights as a woman would not cause you to add 50 pounds of muscle to your frame overnight. In fact, it was found that resistance training provided a shapelier, curvier, leaner, more defined physique than one which could be attained through cardio alone.

That’s why today, we are going to be looking at a 5 day workout routine for women to get strong and toned.

If you’re a female looking to get bigger, stronger, and more toned, the following routine is perfect.

Warming up

Before you commit to any form of workout routine, it is absolutely vital that you take the time to properly warm up before training.

Warming up before training is important because it helps improve your flexibility and mobility, and helps reduce the risk of injury. By stretching the muscles before training, you help to increase muscle fibre elasticity. This is important because it means that the muscle fibres are far less-likely to rip and tear.

A good warm up will also increase your core body temperature and will potentially improve your athletic performance. Warming up boosts circulation, which in turn means more blood flows around the body. This ensures that more oxygen and nutrients can be carried around the body and be fed to the awaiting muscle cells. The more energy they have, the harder the muscles can work when you’re training.

Before you say anything, doing a few reps with just the bar, or a very light set of dumbbells, does not constitute as an effective warmup.

Sample warm up routine

Now we need to look at how you can warm up to get the most from your training.

A sample warmup routine could consist of the following exercises and movements:

  1. 1 minute of knee lifts
  2. 1 minute of heel digs
  3. 2 sets of 10 shoulder rolls per arm
  4. 10 knee bends
  5. 20 head rotations
  6. 10 hip rotations

Diet and nutrition

It doesn’t matter how hard you are training in the gym, if you aren’t eating the right foods at the right time, all of your efforts will have been in vain. You can’t out-train a bad diet, which is why we’re going to share a few diet and nutritional secrets with you before leaving.

Remember, we’re looking at the ultimate 5-day workout routine for women to get strong and toned, and if you’re not eating right, you will become neither strong, nor toned.

Here are some tried and tested methods proven to give great results.

1. Drink enough water

When it comes to exercise and health in general, adequate hydration is crucial.

Water makes up close to 80% of our bodies, and we need it to perform even the most basic of physiological processes. Without adequate amounts of water in our bodies, we run the risk of dehydrating, which can affect athletic performance, and our health in general.

When we exercise, we perspire and can lose important electrolytes via our sweat. This is why it’s important to stay well hydrated during exercise, to help replenish the fluids, minerals, and electrolytes we lost through training.

Aim for 2.5 litres of mineral water per day. Failing that, filtered water is still very good for you.

2. Get plenty of healthy protein

Protein is vital for muscle growth and repair. If you want to become strong and/or toned, you need to make sure you are taking enough protein in each day.

Aim for around 0.6 – 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, and be sure to spread it out evenly throughout the day. Look for lean and healthy sources like fish, chicken, turkey, eggs, nuts, seeds, dairy, and grass-fed red meat.

3. Invest in a good quality whey protein

Providing you can consume whey, whey protein is a supplement you will need to invest in if you wish to build muscle and burn fat.

Whey protein shakes are perfect because one shake provides around 30 or more grams of protein per serving. They’re easy to make, convenient, they taste great, and they’re full of other nutrients that the muscles thrive upon.

4. Don’t forget your veggies

As well as protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs, you will also need to make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables.

Vegetables are full of digestive-friendly dietary fiber, they’re rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and they help to give your meals extra texture and flavour.

Don’t rely on vitamin supplements alone when it comes to nutrient intakes, instead, make sure you eat plenty of fresh vegetables each day.

Weight loss: Meghan Markle gets her toned royal wedding body by doing THIS every day https://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-meghan-markle-gets-her-toned-royal-wedding-body-by-doing-this-every-day/ https://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-meghan-markle-gets-her-toned-royal-wedding-body-by-doing-this-every-day/#respond Wed, 11 Apr 2018 21:58:33 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/weight-loss-meghan-markle-gets-her-toned-royal-wedding-body-by-doing-this-every-day/

Meghan Markle, 36, will marry Prince Harry, 33, on May 19 2018 – but how is she getting ready for the wedding?

She is getting her body in shape for the important day through a certain exercise, revealed royal expert Julie Montagu.

Julie holds the official title of Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, having married Luke Montagu, Viscount of Hinchingbrooke.

She is also a London based yoga teacher, and revealed that Meghan is practising yoga to get her ready for the wedding.

She told Express.co.uk: “Vinyasa Yoga is often overlooked as a great way to get fit, but this is something that Meghan Markle is using to stay in amazing shape for her big day.”

“Indeed, Vinyasa helps you to build strength, improve your stamina, and firm and tone your body.

“You don’t have to be preparing yourself for a Royal wedding in order to utilise the endless benefits to the body of regular Vinyasa practice.

It is already known that Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 61, once worked as a yoga teacher, and the LA born actress swears by the practice.

She told Best Health magazine: “My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood.

“There are so many benefits that come with the practice of yoga,” Meghan told the publication.

She explained the benefits include: “increased flexibility and muscle strength, greater happiness, increased mental focus, a greater ability to relax, decreased anxiety and better sleep.”

Julie gave her top tips for practising yoga just like Meghan: “If you are ready to get started with Vinyasa then there are a few things to keep in mind!”

Take it Easy

First of all, if you are new to Vinyasa (or physical activity in general) then it is important to take it slow.

Make sure you are comfortable with the poses before you really start to challenge your body by pushing deeper and holding for longer.

Remember to Breathe

Secondly, the timing of your breath is super important for this type of yoga, and will help you to build the mind – body connection.

You might find it tricky at first, but with regular practice this will soon feel totally natural. Keep in mind that all breathing during a yoga sequence should be done through the nose.

So, if you are having to breathe through your mouth then you are probably pushing yourself too far! Dial it back a bit and continue to pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Treat Yourself

Finally, remember that rewarding your body for pushing through a Vinyasa class is a great way to keep your motivation up and thereby enhance your results.

Treat yourself to a touch of Meghan’s favourite NIVEA Q10 Body Firming Lotion – now available with added vitamin C. It will help your skin to look and feel great, with firming results in just 10 days!

Julie previously explained what Meghan Markle should expect from her Duchess title if she is granted it after she marries Harry.

“A Duchess has many exciting roles and responsibilities within the Royal family itself and also has several important duties relating to the public.

“Once Meghan assumes the role of Duchess after her wedding, she will be expected to attend relevant engagements and also to participate in certain traditions.”

Julie Montagu is working with NIVEA on the launch of their new NIVEA Q10 Plus C Body Firming Lotion. The original NIVEA Q10 Firming Body Lotion was hailed as Meghan Markle’s can’t live without beauty product* and it’s got even better with two powerful antioxidants – Coenzyme Q10 together with added Vitamin C.

Eugenie Bouchard: Genie shows off derriere and toned abs in funny Instagram video https://briefnews.eu/eugenie-bouchard-genie-shows-off-derriere-and-toned-abs-in-funny-instagram-video/ https://briefnews.eu/eugenie-bouchard-genie-shows-off-derriere-and-toned-abs-in-funny-instagram-video/#respond Tue, 10 Apr 2018 22:06:13 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eugenie-bouchard-genie-shows-off-derriere-and-toned-abs-in-funny-instagram-video/

Eugenie Bouchard, 24, is a Canadian professional tennis player who also models for Sports Illustrated.

Eugenie, also known as Genie Bouchard on her 1.7 million follower strong Instagram account, regularly posts pictures of herself training.

She usually shows off her gorgeous figure in shorts and crop tops as she trains on the tennis court or at the gym.

Her most recent Instagram post shows off the beautiful blonde’s fun personality as she pokes fun at herself.

The video features the model in tiny white shorts and a black and yellow floral crop top.

In the video, she begins with both legs up in the air resting on the side of a raised gym machine.

Then she spread eagles her legs in the air, raising one behind her head.

However, she soon puts both legs together again and wriggles off the machine using her hands to pull her forward on the floor.

What is going on? The caption on the Instagram post gives us a clue.

Eugenie wrote: “So I was trying to show that I could front flip off this machine but cuz I didn’t wanna impress anyone too much decided to just get off the normal human way.”

Fans recognised and appreciated the playful spirit of Eugenie’s post.

One commented: “and for your next magic trick a flying back spin of the chin up bars…fun IG post” with a thumbs up sign.

Another wrote: “Awwwkwaaard! You always look good trying though.”

However, another fan wanted to put a stop to Eugenie’s fun, commenting: “Oops, don’t slip and fall and then sue the gym for having the machine there. “

The fan was referring to a lawsuit Eugenie took out against the United States Tennis Association in which she claimed for an injury she sustained in 2015.

Yesterday, Eugenie posted a sexy bikini picture next to a very different photo of herself side by side in an Instagram image.

On the left, there is an image of her in tennis dear including a visor and sleeveless top, with her racket raised in the air during a tennis match.

The right image features a very different photo taken from Eugenie’s Sports Illustrated shoot where she is wearing a skimpy bikini with risque nude panelling.

It is captioned: “If you don’t love me at my, you don’t deserve me at my…”

Eugenie was following a social media challenge started by Mariah Carey, which plays on the Marilyn Monroe quote “If you don’t love me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best”.

It involves the user posting a photo of them at their “worst”, next to them at their “best”.

Melania Trump flaunts toned arms in tweed midi dress with President Donald Trump https://briefnews.eu/melania-trump-flaunts-toned-arms-in-tweed-midi-dress-with-president-donald-trump/ https://briefnews.eu/melania-trump-flaunts-toned-arms-in-tweed-midi-dress-with-president-donald-trump/#respond Mon, 02 Oct 2017 18:19:13 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/melania-trump-flaunts-toned-arms-in-tweed-midi-dress-with-president-donald-trump/

Melania wore the high neck tweed dress which cut off at the shoulders, showing off her very toned arms.

The nipped in waist offset the midi length dress to show off her figure whilst keeping the look demure.

The raw edge of the neckline and hem kept the look less formal whilst meeting with officials.

The First Lady finished off the look with a pair of nude stilettos and simple make up, alongside her classic bloody and minimal jewellery.

Melania was joining her husband Donald Trump at the White House, greeting Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Madame Naraporn Chan-o-cha of Thailand.

It is thought that the White House is going to address the issues currently from North Korea regarding its Nuclear Weapon programme.

Donald has previously spoken out against Kim Jong-Un, calling him Rocket Man and how he is working to stop him.

He previously tweeted about how he is tackling the growing problem.

Melania has also spoken out earlier today regarding the tragic Las Vegas shootings.

She took to Twitter, stating: “My heart and prayers goes out to victims, families & loved ones! #PrayForLasVegas.”

It has already seen over 28,000 likes and 5,000 retweets.

The shooting has currently claimed the lives of at least 50 people, with over 500 injured as both numbers are expected to rise.

The 47-year-old also stepped out last week to the State Dining Room of the White House last week to address the use of prescription and non-prescription opioid drugs in the United States and Canada.

She styled a very chic black business suit to address those who had suffered or experienced family members who have suffered from drug abuse.

Her opening to the meeting said: “I am here today to listen and learn from all of your stories, and hope you all feel free to give me your thoughts and opinions on how best I can help.”

It is the latest in a string of good causes that the First Lady is addressing.

Queen Letizia of Spain shows off VERY toned arms as she arrives in London with King Felipe https://briefnews.eu/queen-letizia-of-spain-shows-off-very-toned-arms-as-she-arrives-in-london-with-king-felipe/ https://briefnews.eu/queen-letizia-of-spain-shows-off-very-toned-arms-as-she-arrives-in-london-with-king-felipe/#respond Wed, 12 Jul 2017 07:49:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/queen-letizia-of-spain-shows-off-very-toned-arms-as-she-arrives-in-london-with-king-felipe/

Queen Letizia, 44, left Spain in a white dress which had a peplum detail on the waist.

The dress, which was fitted all the way down, came to her knee.

It was also sleeveless, so showed off Queen Letitia’s incredibly toned arms.

She wore a pair of snakeskin court shoes with matching snakeskin clutch bag to complete the look.

The Queen accessorised with a pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings and tortoiseshell sunglasses.

She kept her make-up simple, wearing a gold smokey eyeshadow and pink lipgloss.

Queen Letizia and King Felipe left Spain in high temperatures and bright sunshine, but arrived in the UK to pouring rain.

Despite the change in atmosphere, Queen Letizia kept her outfit the same.

Red is Queen Letizia’s favourite colour, and she is often seen in the striking shade – either with red lips or a red dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge does not wear the bright colour nearly as often, but she deployed it to great effect when hosting a state banquet in 2015.

Green is another colour that works well on both of the ladies, and they have both stepped out in green lace dresses.

Whilst Kate went for a full length dress which had a loose skirt for a dinner date, Queen Letizia highlighted her slim frame in a fitted knee-length number while touring a gallery with husband King Felipe.

When Khloe Kardashian literally turns her back on you these days, what you see is a toned posterior! This follows a battle she has fought and successfully won over her weight issues. And the toned derriere was all on show in a video she did while shooting a product campaign for one of the products she is now endorsing as the reality TV star has recently become the official face of Protein World, a nutrition supplement.

Okay guys, for everyone asking and wanting the scoop on my new fitness regime try a @ProteinWorld shake ???? tastes amazing, trust me and get 30% off with discount code Khloe30 #ProteinWorld #PW30DayChallenge #pwcollab ????????????????????????

In a behind-the-scenes video for a campaign that she shared, Khloe can been seen wearing an old-school aerobics bodysuit. The shooting of the behind-the-scenes video began with the reality TV star captured in a white body suit that had a pink ribbon around the waist and leg warmers that were white. She was also wearing dance tights and a hooded sweater that was green. The social media influencer could then be seen posing and prancing around the set of the studio.

To give her hair a ‘windblown’ look, a leaf blower was pointed at the star by a team consisting of Khloe’s hairstylist, Jen Atkin and an assistant. The reality star also engaged in one of her favorite physical exercises during the shooting of the exercise video – taking selfies. Since she was in an aerobics suit one can only hope her audience does not think that taking selfies constitutes exercise!

After the selfies, Khloe took off the hoodie and she proceeded to take photos by a full-length mirror that was attached to the wall. As the brand ambassador posed with a bottle containing Protein World’s tablets, the photographer crouched low to get a good angle of the model.

Hot in pink

The video shoot was not, however, restricted to the indoors as it soon moved to a poolside. Here Khloe spotted two different looks, one of which was Khloe lounging on the deck wearing a hot pink monokini.

One other trade secret that fans of the reality star got to learn from watching the video was that it takes resources to take a perfectly good picture. To get perfect lighting all over the Khloe Kardashian toned derriere on display, large reflectors were used.

Khloe’s final look was one in which she wore a one-piece cut in canary yellow color that had a scoop neckline. Shine spray was then applied on Khloe making her look even sexier in the one-piece bikini that was high on the hips. After the photo shoot, Khloe admitted that she enjoyed the whole process.

“I felt like a total fitness Barbie during this Protein World photo shoot,” Khloe wrote on her website after sharing the video online.

Keeping up the with the entrepreneurship spirit

Other than becoming the brand ambassador for Protein World, Khloe now has her own reality show – Revenge Body that airs on the same channel as Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Incredibly elated for the premiere of Revenge Body tomorrow!! 8/7c on E

A photo posted by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

The inspiration for Revenge Body is based on the fact that when the Kardashians first came into the limelight, Khloe was often the butt of jokes because she was chubby. But after splitting from her husband Lamar Odom, the gym became her only solace. It had a transformative effect on her, both physically and mentally. And thus the Khloe Kardashian toned derriere on display.

Having the last laugh

“Growing up, people called me the fat, funny sister. Until one day I started working out, eating right and putting myself first. On Revenge Body, I’ll be meeting people who are desperate to change their lives. I’m gonna pair them with my handpicked team of celebrity trainers, nutritionist and glam experts and when their transformation is complete, they’re going to get revenge on one person, someone who has hurt them the most,” Khloe said in a promo for the new reality show.

This is not Khloe’s first time in a solo effort, though. In 2016 she debuted a show called Kocktails with Khloe. It was however canceled shortly over poor ratings. In the premiere, only 347,000 viewers tuned in. Her new show Revenge Body did significantly better as it managed 630,000 viewers on its first episode.
