NOTE: NASA is offering two feeds of the event — read on for more details.
NASA is about to deliberately crash a spacecraft into a distant asteroid in a first-of-its-kind planetary defense test.
The hope is that by slamming a spacecraft into an asteroid at a speed of around 15,000 mph, we can alter its orbit, thereby confirming a way to direct potentially hazardous space rocks away from Earth.
To be clear, NASA’s target asteroid, Dimorphos, poses no threat to Earth. This is merely an effort to determine the viability of such a process if we do ever spot a large asteroid on a collision course with Earth.
NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft, which launched in November 2021, will reach Dimorphos on Monday, September 26, and the whole event will be streamed online.
The 530-feet-wide Dimorphos asteroid is orbiting another one called Didymos, which is about half a mile across.
When DART smashes into Dimorphos at a location about 6.8 million miles from Earth, telescopes here on the ground will analyze the asteroid’s orbit to see if it has changed in any way.
DART is equipped with an instrument called the Didymos Reconnaissance and Asteroid Camera for Optical Navigation (DRACO). DRACO is guiding DART to its final destination and will also provide a real-time feed from the spacecraft, sending one image per second back to Earth.
NASA says that in the hours before impact, the screen will appear mostly black, apart from a single point of light marking the location of the binary asteroid system that the spacecraft is heading toward.
But as the moment of impact draws closer, the point of light will get bigger and eventually detailed asteroids will be visible.
Last week, DART also ejected a camera called the Light Italian CubeSat for Imaging Asteroids (LICIACube). This will fly past Dimorphos about three minutes after the impact, capturing high-resolution images of the crash site, including the resulting plume of asteroid material and possibly the newly formed impact crater.
The DART spacecraft is set to impact the Dimorphos asteroid at 7:14 p.m. ET (4:14 p.m. PT) on Monday, September 26.
NASA is offering two feeds of the event. The first, embedded at the top of this page, offers the most up-to-date DRACO camera feed and starts at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT). The second feed, which can be found on this page, offers similar coverage and begins half an hour earlier at 5:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. PT).
NASA said that after impact, the feed will turn black due to a loss signal. Then, after about two minutes, the stream will show a replay showing the final moments leading up to impact.
At 8 p.m. NASA will livestream a press briefing discussing the mission.

Arrow alum David Ramsey is returning to the Arrowverse, in multiple (and occasionally mysterious!) ways.
Some 10 months after Arrow signed off, Ramsey is set to direct a total of five episodes of upcoming Arrowverse seasons — including at Supergirl and freshman spinoff Superman & Lois (which bows Feb. 23, 2021), our sister site Deadline reports.
Ramsey previously directed two episodes of Arrow, where he was an OG cast member: Season 7’s “Past Sins” and the final season’s time-loopy “Reset.”
On camera, Ramsey will guest-star as Arrow‘s John Diggle in a total of five episodes across The Flash (which opens Season 7 on Feb. 23), Supergirl, Batwoman (Season 2 premieres Jan. 17) and Superman & Lois.
But most curiously, he will play “a mystery role” during Legends of Tomorrow‘s fifth season.
As Arrow‘s series finale drew to a close, Diggle was packing up to move with his family to Metropolis when a meteor crashed nearby, slamming him against a moving van. After shaking off the blow, Dig combed through the debris to discover a mysterious box, which, upon being opened, emitted a bright green light — seemingly nodding at the character’s long-speculated Green Lantern destiny.
“I don’t know what that means,” Ramsey said at a press screening. “But he does go to Metropolis, and he got a green box. We’ll still see, believe it or not. We’ll find out.”
Arrowverse EP Marc Guggenheim in turn told TVLine, “Greg [Berlanti], David and I have had a lot of conversations about David’s future in the Arrowverse going forward, both in front [of] and behind the camera, and there are a lot of ideas that we’re banding about that are very exciting to us… He’s on The Flash [in a February 2020 appearance], and we’ve just got some cool notions for next season.”

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has made an appointment with Dr. Strangelove, casting Body of Proof alum Nic Bishop in an homage to the dark 1964 feature comedy.
TVLine has learned exclusively that the English actor is set to guest-star on the CW series in a Season 6 riff on Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Stanley Kubrick’s acclaimed satirization of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.
In the episode — which appears to be the upcoming season’s fourth, titled “Bay of Squids” — Nate (played by Nick Zano) and Zari (Tala Ashe) must infiltrate the Kennedy White House to stop Bishop’s warmongering General Kilgore from steering JFK to start WWIII when an alien begins wreaking havoc in Fidel Castro’s Cuba in 1962.
Bishop’s character is likened to Dr. Strangelove‘s General Buck Turgidson, who was played by George C. Scott in the Kubrick film.
In addition to his aforementioned two-season run as Body of Proof‘s Peter Dunlop, Bishop’s many TV credits include, most recently, Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told, as well as Snowfall, Covert Affairs, Dominion and Home and Away. (I see that he also apparently is dating Legends star Jes Macallan, and thus would be within her safe COVID “bubble.”)
Legends of Tomorrow is among the CW series still awaiting a return date and which are penciled in for Spring 2021 or later.

Earthbound Astra is sticking with the Legends of Tomorrow. The character’s decision to explore the human world in the Season 5 finale cast some understandable doubt about her future, but TVLine has learned that Astra’s portrayer, Olivia Swann, will return as a series regular for Season 6.
The English actress first appeared in a pair of Season 4 episodes before becoming a full-time member of the cast the following year. In the Season 5 ender, Astra gave Constantine’s soul coin back to him and announced that she wants to try living a normal life on Earth.
“A lot of times with characters, we bring them on, and you just have this sneaking suspicion that there is more to explore,” executive producer Phil Klemmer previously told TVLine. Like with Jes Macallan’s Ava Sharpe, Tala Ashe’s Zari 1.0 and Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ Amaya in their own early days on the series, “you just kind of had this nagging suspicion of like, ‘Oh, God, I know there’s so much more that you can do, but we just ran out of time,’ and Olivia’s one of those performers. When you saw the sorority episode, that was her first chance to sort of exist out in the world. You get to see that she’s got all these sort of hidden gears.”
With Astra free from Hell now and trying her hand at human life, “She’s got a lot to figure out, and that could be super, super fascinating,” Klemmer continued. “And she’s great for Constantine as well. Their history really provides a great dynamic.”
Plus, “we need more bad people! Like, let’s be honest,” Klemmer added with a laugh. “We can’t have everybody fully rehabilitated. I guess you [can] just call her totally amoral and cutthroat. That’s an awesome energy to have on our gang of big-hearted sweeties.”
As previously reported, the makeup of the Waverider will, come Season 6, once again look different: Shayan Sobhian, who plays Zari’s younger brother Behrad, has been promoted to series regular, while Richardson-Sellers, who most recently portrayed Charlie, will not be back.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 is slated to debut in or before Spring 2021 on The CW.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Tuesday’s Legends of Tomorrow. Proceed at your own risk!
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” has struck again! During Tuesday’s Legends of Tomorrow, Charlie revealed her connection to a mysterious object known as the Loom of Fate. She told Constantine and Gary that she destroyed the Loom of Fate and scattered the pieces across the multiverse, but recently, she sensed that something had changed and that her past was catching up with her.
Executive producer Phil Klemmer confirms that Charlie’s inkling is another aftereffect of the “Crisis” crossover reset that merged (most of) the Earths into one. The Loom of Fate is “not so well hidden any longer, and it starts a bit of a race to reclaim the bits of our MacGuffin,” Klemmer previews.
As the season unravels the Loom of Fate’s significance and its ties to the shapeshifter’s backstory, “we see a new side to Charlie, because she’s forced to confront old demons even though she doesn’t want to,” her portrayer Maisie Richardson-Sellers shares. “We also see her and Constantine create this interesting relationship where they both find out really crucial parts of their history and kind of challenge each other to come to terms with that and to share that with the rest of the group. There [are] some very serious consequences with that.”
Like for starters, the Loom of Fate becomes “a source of conflict” among the Legends, because it “means a lot of things to a lot of different people” on the Waverider, Klemmer reveals. “Everybody has these personal kind of catastrophes in their life, everybody starts coming up with little side agendas, and that really complicates things, because it can’t be all things to all people. We don’t ever want to see our Legends trying to kill each other, but it is very interesting to see them with kind of different goals in a very sort of human sense. If the MacGuffin can only do one thing, of course, everybody’s like, ‘Well, my thing is most important, and then we can worry about yours later,’ and unfortunately, that’s not how it works.”
And it’s not just Charlie who’s trying to outrun fate. The end of this week’s episode also found Constantine coughing up blood after Astra decided to speed up the timing of his eventual death to… right now. “We wanted to give him one of the iconic storylines from the comics, where he gets lung cancer,” EP Grainne Godfree says, “and he’s going to try to do everything he can, in the most John Constantine type way, to get out of it,” all while “wrestling with mortality and all this rich, deep character stuff.”
Incorporating elements of Garth Ennis’ Hellblazer story arc Dangerous Habits into the show was “very, very, very important to [star] Matt Ryan,” Klemmer notes. “He is the world’s leading expert on all things Constantine. In fact, he probably would hand you a book if you’re having trouble remembering something. He has it in his bag at all times.”
For the writing team, the Constantine storyline is “a balance, because we want to honor [Dangerous Habits], [but] at the same time, we want to break new ground, as well,” Klemmer continues. “Hopefully, we found the right balance with that. But there’s no predicting where we’re headed based on the books,” which were “a great launching point.”
One of the ways Constantine’s plight is uniquely Legends-esque: The brooding master of the dark arts is surrounded by eternal optimist Ray and goofball Gary as he battles for his life in next Tuesday’s installment. Naturally, “John wants to just be miserable and drink alone, and they’re not going to let him do that,” Godfree teases.

Genre-TV vet Terry Chen will engage in some “Mortal Khanbat” via a plum guest-starring role on The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
TVLine has learned exclusively that the alum of such series as Continuum, The Expanse and Jessica Jones will play the infamous Genghis Khan in the fifth episode of Season 5, which is currently filming and marks series lead Caity Lotz’s directorial debut.
The episode — which is titled, yes, “Mortal Khanbat” — presents Khan as a cool-tempered but ruthless Mongolian ruler, who finds himself alone in 1990s Hong Kong. But he adapts quickly and uses his mastery of military strategy to pursue his single greatest ambition: conquering the globe.
As teased at the very end of Legends Season 4, Astra (played by new series regular Olivia Swann) has gotten her mitts on the souls of some real-life, Hell-bound deplorables, whom she will apparently unleash and scatter throughout time. The Legends EPs explained in our Comic-Con Q&A video below that the trick in serving up “Encores,” as these resurrected real-life baddies have been dubbed, “is to come up with a fun horrible person.”
Chen’s previous TV credits also include Van Helsing, UnREAL and House of Cards.
Legends returns with Season 5 in early 2020.

Two more seats are about to open up on the Waverider. Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford are both stepping down as series regulars during the upcoming fifth season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, our sister site Deadline reports.
“Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” executive producers Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree and Keto Shimizu said in a statement. “They have always brought a level passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”
Routh, who originated the role of Ray Palmer/Atom on Arrow, has been a regular on Legends since it premiered in 2016. Ford, who plays sorceress Nora Darhk, was promoted back in 2018.
“Thank you all for watching Ray’s journey over the past 5 years,” Routh posted to Instagram on Thursday, confirming the news of his departure. “I love this character. I love bringing his wit and charm and silliness to life everyday on set. I will miss him immensely, and felt he had more adventures ahead, but unfortunately his storyline is pointed in another direction. I’m saddened to see Ray’s journey end for now.”
Routh later shared on Twitter that the status change was “not my decision.”
Ford tweeted, “Thank you @LoTWritersRoom for the opportunity to play in a world I love so much. Thanks to @GBerlanti and to @mguggenheim & @philklemmer for believing Nora could live past her first 3 eps of S3! What a ride. Proud to have been able to call @warnerbrostv and @TheCW my home.”
TVLine recently caught up with the Legends cast at San Diego Comic-Con, where they previewed all types of supernatural shenanigans to come in Season 5 — including Routh slipping back into Superman’s iconic duds for this year’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event. (Click here to watch our interview.)
This dual departure is the latest in a series of casting shakeups to hit the Arrowverse this season. Supergirl, for example, is bidding farewell to longtime regular Mehcad Brooks (aka James Olsen), while temporarily welcoming back Jeremy Jordan (aka Winn Schott). Arrow, meanwhile, has welcomed several new series regulars for its final season, while taking Colton Haynes (aka Roy Harper) off series regular status.
Legends of Tomorrow returns midseason on The CW. What are your thoughts on Routh and Ford’s futures (or lack thereof) in the Arrowverse? Drop ’em in a comment below.

For the Legends of Tomorrow to survive their latest season-ending showdown, a sacrifice had to be made. But the team member who volunteered to give their own life wound up not being the one to go.
Instead, the Legends sustained a different loss.
Constantine and Nora (in Fairy Godmother mode) traveled to Hell, where they enlisted a shady Astra to break into Neron’s vault and procure the coin that represents Ray’s soul. But to reunite Ray’s soul — currently in the midst of a Giant Jenga match with Vandal Savage (!) — with his body, Nate would need to die, tethered as he is to the deal his BFF made.
Meanwhile, as part of a mission to stop the world from fearing magical creatures, the Legends built the HeyWorld theme park that Hank had envisioned, then ran a commercial (starring “Supergirl,” “Green Arrow” and “The Flash”) inviting the masses to visit the happiest place on the globe.
Once a crowd congregated at the insta-attraction, Sara and Nate put on a stage show that was designed to establish harmony between humans and magical creatures. But then Tabitha showed up, with Wickstible — the grown-up dragon hatched from the egg — in tow, hoping to stoke and absorb the crowd’s fear. Luckily, Young Zari was able to stop Wickstible from wreaking havoc and start dancing (swatting Tabitha for good measure). Constantine then went toe-to-toe with Neron, who started to open the gates of Hell, but wound up bested when the demon choked him to death.
That was not Constantine, however, but a glamoured Nate — who, with his death at Neron’s hand, allowed Ray to be freed. After John vanquished Neron, Zari led the crowd in a “Kumbaya”-like sing-along of James Taylor’s “Sweet Baby James,” to rid the arena of all fear and replace it with love, resulting in Nate’s resurrection.
The Legends’ success in teaching tolerance, however, came with an anticipated side effect. The Anti-Metahuman Act of 2029 was never enacted and Zari’s brother Behrad never was killed by ARGUS. Meaning, the Legends never met Zari, let alone recruited her. As such, soon after welcoming Nate back to life with a warm embrace, Zari simply vanished (replaced in the hug by her brother), leaving Nate with no memory of knowing her but a sense that something was “missing.”
Astra, meanwhile, was seen rounding up the soul coins for some of Hell’s most notorious cretins a la Genghis Khan, Joseph Stalin and Charles Manson, for her own nefarious, future purpose….
TVLine emailed Legends showrunner Phil Klemmer about Tala Ashe’s status with the CW series, what the crossovers’ Monitor was up to during his cameo, and more. Here are his answers.
TVLINE | Has Tala Ashe left the show/series regular status? Or is the story now about Nate re-finding Zari?
Tala will be returning to the show but Zari, the character we know and love, will not be. Nate is welcome to go look for her next season, but he will not be pleased by what he finds.
TVLINE | The “Sweet Baby James” sing-along was remarkably touching. Did any cast member beg off having to sing?
No. And I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Dominic Purcell for singing live on the day [of shooting], without any rehearsal or any heads-up that he would have to sing. What can I say, the man is a consummate pro and an utterly fearless performer. And somehow his singing is perfectly Mick Rory — a little rough around the edges but pure heart. A second shout-out to Tala Ashe who sang her part live. Normally in TV, you prerecord in a studio and lip synch back to the track, but Tala belted that one out the old-fashioned way. Our composer Daniel also did a beautiful job of transitioning from the live sing-along to the epic, scored version of the song. I know I’m a softy, but it still gives me chills.
TVLINE | Which costs more to bring to life — a baby dragon or a Beebo?
The sad part is that a baby dragon costs as much as a grown-up dragon; it seems like there should be a size discount. That said, our VFX company Zoic did a bang-up job. I refuse to compare Beebo and Wickstible in terms of cost or who we love more, however. I don’t want to create any additional jealousy between them. I think Beebo felt a little upstaged when he saw that he wasn’t in the script this year.
TVLINE | What are we calling the group of epic sinners that Astra has rounded up? Will they be Season 5’s Big Bads, scampering through time?
At the moment in the room prior to the breaking of Season 5 we are calling the historical baddies that Astra resurrects to wreak havoc throughout history “Encores.” It’s easier to say that either aberrations or anachronisms or “mythsteries,” so that’s nice. And no, they’re not the Big Bads, they are the episodic bads. I can promise that next year’s big bad will be nothing demon-related.
TVLINE | Will Season 5 be a biiiiit more grounded/serious than the magical creatures/squirming nipples?
I sense that there is a request for more groundedness in this question, so please don’t think that you’re just getting your way when I say “yes, Season 5 will be a bit more grounded.” More history, more growing up, more legit character stuff for the Legends in Season 5. What can I say? When you start the season with a murderous unicorn at Woodstock that secretes hallucinogenic goo, you’re bound to end up someplace wacky 15 episodes later. The original pages for the scene between Nate and his father sharing a moment in the afterlife included Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jerry Garcia joining in the sing-along. So it coulda been wackier….
TVLINE | What was The Monitor from the crossovers up to there in the stands, besides inhaling popcorn? Was he “taking notice” of the Legends and their skill sets?
I would say that the Monitor was taking notice of the Legends’ lack of skill sets. And yet somehow we got invited to participate in the [“Crisis on Infinite Earths”] crossover next season. Weird.
TVLINE | What else is on your to-do list for Season 5?
Make ‘em laugh, make ‘em cry, make ‘em give us a Season 6. And we promise no more squirming nipples.

Some “super” costume changes are on tap for the Legends of Tomorrow when the CW series resumes Season 4 next Monday, April 1 at 8/7c.
In the first episode back, titled “Lucha De Apuestas,” the Legends head to 1961 Mexico City to clean up Mona’s mess, after the Kaupe got loose. Meanwhile, Nate and Zari go on a recon mission to find out what Hank might be hiding from everyone.
Then on April 8, in “The Getaway,” Hank commandeers the Waverider in 1973, sending the Legends on the run in an RV after kidnapping a President Nixon who is only able to tell the truth. Meanwhile, Nate and Zari, with the help of Nora and Gary, work together to find out what Hank is really up to.
Once again, Legends returns Monday, April 1 at 8 pm; Arrow as such will begin airing an hour later, starting April 15.

Ryanair faces serious disruption when staff strike tomorrow, January 8. Those working for the budget airline in Spain will stage a walk out, as previously announced, and carry through with their plans. It will be the first of three stints of scheduled planned industrial action, with similar strikes penned in for January 10 and 13. Each will last 24 hours and see workers from unions USO and SITCPLA join forces.
Which Ryanair flights are affected?
The strikes will affect Ryanair flights to and from Spain on January 8.
They will last for a period of 24 hours.
It could affect thousands of British passengers who are awaiting flights back to the UK, if it goes ahead.
Meanwhile, the Spanish government has stipulated that all domestic flights and 35 per cent of international services must run.
What has Ryanair said about the January 8 strike?
Ryanair has said it still expects to run a full flight schedule on January 8.
In a statement posted on Twitter the company said: “Due to the efforts of the Spanish Government minimum services regulator, and the support of our pilots and cabin crew in Spain, we expect to operate a full schedule of flights to/from (and within) Spain on Tuesday, January 8.
“All passengers scheduled to fly should check in online as normal and arrive at their departure airport at least 2 hours prior to their time of scheduled departure.”
Why are Ryanair staff in Spain going on strike?
Despite negotiations, Ryanair and staff unions had failed to drum up an agreement amid a row over working conditions and pay.
Workers gripes are centred on staff in Spain being handed out Irish versions of contracts, rather than Spanish ones, under local law.
Ryanair were given 10 days to meet their workers needs and therefore avoid the walkout entirely.
What have the unions said about the Ryanair situation?
Claims by the unions supporting the 1,800 staff who work on bases in Spain suggest they have “worse working conditions” than others due to Ryanair disregarding Spanish legislation.
A statement from the two unions said: “From Sitcpla and the USO, we hope that the company will reconsider and agree to comply with Spanish legislation.”
USO representative Jairo Gonzalo said in a statement it was “disgusting” Ryanair “continues to refuse to accept national law with all its consequences.”
“It is unprecedented that we still have to fight for Ryanair to comply with Spanish laws and because the rules of the game have to be translated into a paper,” added Óscar Ayuste, spokesperson for the Sitcpla union.
Ryanair was hit by a crippling wave of strikes last summer. Irish pilots went on strike over a number of weeks, with thousands of passengers affected.
When did Ryanair last strike?
On 28 September 2018, 250 flights were cancelled across Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Belgium.
Approximately 30,000 passengers were affected by the strike.
Ryanair’s profit warning in October indicated the strikes cost the airline as much as €120 million.
