US President Donald Trump has again sparked massive backlash from the internet, this time praising Saudi Arabia for helping to lower global oil prices amid the fallout from the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Thank you to Saudi Arabia, but let’s go lower!” the US president tweeted out on Wednesday, praising the fact that oil prices were dropping.

It didn’t take the Twitterati long to get their typing fingers ready and hammer away at their keyboards.

“REAL Presidents do not do PR for murderous regimes,” one #Resistance activist wrote, referring to the popular belief that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman ordered the killing of Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey last month.

A comedy writer questioned whether oil prices were cut using a bone saw, the same gruesome tool that was reportedly used to dismember Khashoggi’s body, according to anonymous Turkish sources.

One activist implied that Trump’s loyalty to Saudi Arabia is reminiscent of the behavior of a “mob boss.”

In a tweet aimed directly at Trump, one user wrote: “Oh, ok I can fill up for a buck cheaper, but the Saudi’s can silence free speech? Big deal.” His comment was an apparent reference to the fact that Khashoggi was seemingly killed for being an outspoken critic of the Saudi government.

Then there was this picture, which speaks a thousand words.

Some members of Congress are also angry about Trump declining to cut ties with Saudi Arabia over Khashoggi’s death, including several Republicans.

“It is a delicate situation when we have a long-term ally that we’ve had for decades, but we have a crown prince that I believe ordered the killing of a journalist,” Senator Bob Corker (R-Tennessee) told Chattanooga TV station WTVC while in his home state. “We don’t have a smoking gun. Everything points to the fact that he knew about it and directed it.”

In a much-criticized statement on Tuesday, Trump had said that “it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event – maybe he did and maybe he didn’t,” adding that the public may never know all the facts surrounding Khashoggi’s death.

Kawhi Leonard released his first statement since the blockbuster trade that saw the Toronto Raptors land the star forward.

Leonard, who submitted a letter to the San Antonio Express-News, thanked the Spurs organization, its fans and head coach Gregg Popovich.

But the 27-year-old didn't mention the Raptors in the letter, writing only that he was "looking forward to the next chapter in my career."

Here's the full letter:

I have been going back and forth the last few weeks trying to figure out the right things to say, and it comes down to two simple words: THANK YOU! My family and I want to say THANK YOU to the entire Spurs organization and the people and fans of San Antonio. THANK YOU to every one of my teammates I've played with over my seven years in the NBA. THANK YOU Pop I'll always be grateful for my growth under your guidance. THANK YOU to the fans! There is not a more passionate or dedicated fan base than what I've witnessed in San Antonio. Through all the ups and downs — I'm glad there were many more ups! —I'll never forget what we have shared and accomplished together. In a trade that sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, the Raptors acquired Leonard and three-point shooter Danny Green last month, while San Antonio received all-star DeMar DeRozan, backup centre Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick.

DeRozan openly criticized Masai Ujiri, claiming the Raptors president promised he wouldn't trade him. Leonard, an unrestricted free agent next summer, reportedly wasn't pleased with the move and many expect him to bolt for the Los Angeles Lakers, joining LeBron James.

Leonard, if healthy, would give Toronto one of the best two-way players in the NBA and a true bonafide superstar.

However, questions remain about the status of a right leg injury that shelved him for all but nine games last season. He was named NBA Finals MVP in 2014 after leading the Spurs to a championship but his relationship with the team deteriorated last season to the point where he asked for a trade.

President Donald Trump appeared to celebrate Karen Handel’s special-election victory by thanking Fox News for praising him on Tuesday night, after Handel was projected the winner in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District race.

“Thank you @FoxNews “Huge win for President Trump and GOP in Georgia Congressional Special Election,” Trump tweeted after Handel was projected the winner.

Minutes later, Trump tweeted: “Congratulations to Karen Handel on her big win in Georgia 6th. Fantastic job, we are all very proud of you!”

Polls closed Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET after a record-high early-vote turnout, and experts say it is likely that it would surpass previous voting records as well.

The race pitted 30-year-old Democrat Jon Ossoff — who was until recently, relatively unknown amongst Democrats — against Handel, who is Georgia’s former Secretary of State.

Georgia’s special election was billed as a potential referendum on President Donald Trump, who heavily endorsed Handel’s candidacy.

Two of the biggest news stories collided through the medium of television on Friday evening, as Americans watched the collapse of the American Health Care Act and their favorite NCAA teams play in the Sweet 16.

Commercials thanking Republicans for repealing Obamacare aired near several conservative-leaning television markets — hours after the GOP’s Obamacare replacement, the American Health Care Act, was abandoned.

The American Action Network, a center-right advocacy group, purchased airtime for advertisements that encouraged viewers to contact their representatives, and thank them for their work in repealing former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act, according to Deadspin. However, the GOP failed to repeal Obamacare on Friday afternoon, having been forced to pull the bill after falling short on votes in the House of Representatives.

“Republicans are keeping their promise, with a new plan for better health care,” one of the advertisements said. “Thank [California] Congressman Darrell Issa for keeping his promise and replacing the Affordable Care Act with the better healthcare you deserve.”

As of Friday evening, American Action Network had uploaded the ads for 11 lawmakers on its YouTube account. Similar ads ran for Rep. David Valadao of Fresno, California, and Rep. David Young of Des Moines, Iowa.
