Lehmann resigned in tears prior to the start of the fourth Test between Australia and South Africa, confirming it will be his final game in charge.

Lehmann made the decision shortly after watching sacked skipper Steve Smith repeatedly break down during a press conference at Sydney airport.

Smith was overcome with regret and shame caused by the ball-tampering scandal, which rocked the cricketing world and triggered nationwide outrage in Australia.

Lehmann’s emotional press conference was in sharp contrast to a tongue-in-cheek interview with a radio station in 2013, when he called on the Australian public to “give it to” Broad during the 2013-14 Ashes.

“I hope he cries and he goes home,” Lehmann said at the time, still fuming about the fact Broad failed to walk at Trent Bridge after edging the ball to first slip.

Broad took no delight in the end of Lehmann’s tenure.

“When he resigned from his post as head coach last week, my Twitter notifications were very busy with interest,” Broad wrote in The Daily Mail.

“He was the one who said Australia should give it to me and send me home in tears from the 2013-14 Ashes, which was poor at the time and crass

“I want to say not one bit of me wants to see him or any player or coach in that sort of state.

“To see him talking about his family was really tough.”

Broad noted “there’s no way you can defend” the antics of Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, but he still feels “for them as people”.

“All the guys involved have said they made mistakes and now they just have to accept the punishments that have been served up to them,” he wrote.

It’s no secret that Star Wars Episode 8 upset a lot of the fans.

Hamill has also been blunt about his opposition to many of the decisions made by director Rian Johnsn regarding Luke Skywalker.

In a new interview, the actor has been speaking about some of the most personally upsetting and emotional moments in the movie.

The new documentary The Director and the Jedi already revealed his tears at being reunited with Frank Oz to film the Yoda cameo, but there was one moment that hit Hamill even harder.

It is no surprise that he is talking about Luke’s farewell to Leia.

Being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight to promote the digital download and home entertainment release of The Last Jedi, Hamill opened up about what is sure to become another iconic Star Wars scene. He also revealed that the most heartbreaking moment of all, the brotherly kiss, was improvised.

Hamill said: “I didn’t decide it and say, ‘Can I do this?’ I mean, in the take , I don’t know if we rehearsed it or not, but it just happened. I was standing up and they weren’t ready for it. They said, ‘No, do that again.’ And we did it for a second take, and like I said, it was just spontaneous.”

Hamill added: “It was really momentous for me because Luke was saying goodbye to his sister forever.

“I can’t watch that scene. It just, you know, takes me out of the movie completely. I’ll get over it, but she’ll be forever missed and she’s irreplaceable.”

He also revealed that his cheeky farewell wink to C-3PO was also unscripted: “Even that. I don’t remember doing that and I did. You see that’s the best kind of spontaneity you can have. There’s a solemnity to that moment and you don’t want to trivialise it.”

The 59-year-old’s voice seemed to shake after she addressed the camera as the credits rolled on tonight’s results show. 

“I love Aston and Janette, I think they’re super stars. They’ve lit up the studio every week,” she said, looking sad as she stood next to professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

Meanwhile, fellow contestant Susan Calman said: “I’m shocked and devastated that Aston and Janette have gone.” 

JLS star Aston, 29, and partner Janette Manrara ended up in the bottom two this evening facing off against Mollie King and AJ Pritchard in the dance-off.

Reflecting on ending up in the dance-off once more, the 30-year-old star of The Saturdays said: “I feel l like being in the dance off for a second time, it felt like a nightmare.”

It comes as viewers were left furious with head judge Shirley Ballas for casting the deciding vote that saw him get the boot, many people took to social media to hit out at her for the choice.

Strictly Come Dancing fans weren’t the only ones left outraged, former professional dancer James Jordan waded into the row and blasted Craig Revel Horwood for awarding a score of just four. 

The 39-year-old pro and his wife and fellow Strictly Come Dancing ex-star said in a Facebook Live video: “Craig giving Aston a four put him in the bottom two. 

“Now, Craig not qualified to judge Ballroom and Latin, yeah he might have gone and done a little exam for a week or something but he’s not from our dance world and he gives Aston a four when he didn’t deserve a four. You get a four for turning up.”

His main gripe was with Aston’s positioning in the scoring line-up as he hit out at the tough judge, 52, and said: [Aston] should have realistically had 28 points. He should have been nowhere near the position he was on the leaderboard and Craig put him there. That’s a fact. Craig gave him a four which was disgusting and you can’t justify that.”

James went on to say: “I call bull**** and I’m sorry to swear but it is slightly frustrating I’ve been dancing Ballroom and Latin for 30 years and he’s sat behind a desk and never danced it in his life and judging it.” 

However, he defended Shirley, telling viewers: “The dance-off was the right result. Mollie was better. I would have marked her to stay. She wasn’t brilliant but I still would have marked her to stay over Aston.

James later added: “Shirley made the right decision. The thing is he should not have been there.” 

As the 30-minute long video came to an end, James wrapped up by telling the audience: “It’s a travesty. It has ruined the series for me.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One next Saturday at 6.45pm.

VENUS Williams has broken down in tears as she reflected on the fatal car accident which has left her facing a wrongful-death lawsuit.

A police report says Williams is responsible for the accident in Florida last month, which caused injuries to a 78-year-old Jerome Barson, who subsequently died.

Barson’s family has since filed the lawsuit against former world No 1 Williams, alleging negligence.

Williams could not contain her emotions when questioned by US reporters after a 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 victory over Belgian Elise Mertens.

“Yeah, life, you can’t prepare for everything. I prepared for a lot of matches, tried to get ready for whatever my opponent will throw at you, but you can’t prepare for everything,” the 36-year-old said.

“I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. That’s all I can say about it. That’s what I’ve learned.

“There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating … yeah. I’m completely speechless.”

After wiping away tears, Williams said “Maybe I should go” and left the room.

According to the lawsuit lodged against Williams, the impact of the crash caused damage to both vehicles.

The Barsons’ 2016 Hyundai Accent was “crushed, the front windshield shattered, the airbags deployed, there was crush damage to the rear on the driver’s side, and the back window was shattered.”

Williams’ 2010 Toyota Sequoia “was also severely damaged,” the suit says.

The lawsuit states Barson’s injuries included “severed main arteries, massive internal bleeding, a fractured spine, and massive internal organ damage.”

His wife’s injuries included, per the lawsuit, a cracked sternum and shattered right arm. She also broke her right wrist, hand and several fingers.

According to the police report, Linda Barson told police she was travelling west in the right lane and approaching an intersection, slowing for a traffic light.

The report says the light changed to green, and Barson said she drove through the intersection when Williams’ 2010 Toyota Sequoia cut across in front of her car.

Barson said she was unable to avoid crashing into Williams.

Williams, according to the report, told police she was stopped in the median of the intersection because of other traffic.

Williams also said she did not see the Barsons’ car when she crossed the intersection. The report says Williams was driving an estimated speed of eight kmh.

Williams’ lawyer Malcolm Cunningham, in a statement to CNN, said: “Ms. Williams entered the intersection on a green light.

“The police report estimates that Ms. Williams was travelling at [eight kmh] when Mrs. Barson crashed into her.

“Authorities did not issue Ms. Williams with any citations or traffic violations. This is an unfortunate accident and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one.”

The Parrs Wood High School Choir joined the US popstar for a performance of the title track from her second album.

One of the choir members started the song before Grande joined them.

She took the child’s hand, and the latter was then seen becoming incredibly emotional as her idol held her tight.

It had viewers up and down the country in tears, as well as the gathered audience.

Grande organised tonight’s concert after a crazed suicide bomber detonated a device outside her show at Manchester Arena 13 days ago.

The blast left 22 dead and many more injured.

The choir told This Morning this week: “We want to do as much as we can for everyone who was a victim.”

Some of them were at the show on that fateful night last month.

One member recalled: “We’re really, really excited to perform with Ariana Grande, but we also know that we need to raise funds for those people who were injured and who passed away, because it’s just devastating and it’s awful.”

Take That, Robbie Williams, Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams were also on the bill tonight.

Jimmy Kimmel got personal tonight on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” opening up about complications following the birth of his son 10 days ago.

Kimmel broke down, tearing up through his nearly 15-minute long monologue. He recounted the “terrifying” few hours after Billy was born, how he started to turn purple about three hours after he was born, and a nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center noticed and rushed him into emergency care.

Kimmel thanked the long list of doctors and nurses at Cedars-Sinai where Billy was born and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where he was rushed for emergency heart surgery.

He also made a plea for politicians on both sides of the aisle to make sure Americans have access to health care especially for those with pre-existing conditions, as his son has after being born with a heart defect.

“If your baby is going to die it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” he said.

He flashed a slate for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on the screen urging viewers to donate.

“I hope you never have to go there but if you do you’ll see so many kids from so many financial backgrounds being cared for so well with so much compassion.”

Kimmel said the surgeon “did some kind of magic I can’t even begin to explain. It was the longest three hours of my life.”

Kimmel also broke down while thanking his family, friends, production crew and ABC executives for supporting his family during the frightening experience. He showed a picture of Billy covered in tubes and medical equipment, and then another picture of a smiling infant. (“Poor kid, not only did he get a bad heart, he got my face,” joked Kimmel.)

“We had atheists praying for us,” said Kimmel. “Even that son of a bitch Matt Damon sent flowers.”

He urged Congress not to make cuts to the National Institutes of Health.

“Don’t let their partisan political squabbles divide us. This is not football. This is not about picking teams. We are the team — it’s the United States of America.”

Kimmel and his wife, co-head writer Molly McNearney, also have a 2-year-old daughter, Jane.

The host will now be on paternity leave for the rest of the week while his friends guest-host the show in his absence (assuming there isn’t a writers strike, in which case the show will go dark). The lineup will be:

The tears came even as P.K. Subban smiled and waved to the Bell Centre fans.

Tears streaked his cheeks as the former Canadiens defenceman got a long standing ovation before his first game back in Montreal as a Nashville Predator on Thursday night.

Chants of “P.K., P.K.” filled the 21,000 seat arena as a video montage of his flashy moves on the ice as a Canadien from 2009 until he was dealt to Nashville last June 29. The Toronto native stood at the blue-line with his teammates for the pre-game tribute and soaked it all in.

Paul Byron scored with nine seconds left to play as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the visiting Nashville Predators 2-1 on Thursday in P.K. Subban’s first game against Montreal since being traded last summer.

Brendan Gallagher also scored for Montreal (36-21-8). Carey Price made 24 saves as the Canadiens extended their winning streak to four games.

Ryan Ellis scored the lone goal for the Predators (32-23-9) before leaving the game with a lower-body injury. Pekka Rinne stopped 24 of 26 shots in defeat.

Byron poked the puck away from Matt Irwin in the neutral zone and chased it down the length of the ice on a breakaway with time running out in the third period. Rinne got his body on Byron’s shot but the puck trickled past him.

The loss is Nashville’s first in regulation time in Montreal since Jan. 15, 2009 as Peter Laviolette’s men saw their four-game winning streak snapped.​
