In the latest TV show ratings, CBS’ NCIS dominated Tuesday both in total viewers (with 9.9 million of ’em) as well as in the demo, holding steady with a 0.9 rating. Leading out of that, FBI (7.9 mil/0.7) was down a tick, but FBI: Most Wanted (6.4 mil/0.6) drew its largest audience of the season while steady in the demo. Elsewhere: NBC | Leading out of a steady Young Rock (2.6 mil/0.5) and Kenan (1.9 mil/0.4), This Is Us (4.4 mil/0.7, read recap) slipped to new series lows. New Amsterdam (3.5 mil/0.4), however, was steady. THE CW | The Flash (992K/0.3) ticked up, while Supergirl (698K/0.1) was steady. ABC | Pooch Perfect (2.5 mil/0.4) dropped sharply in Week 2, facing stiffer competition; black-ish (1.6 mil/0.3) and mixed-ish (1.5 mil/0.3) were in turn also down, both hitting series lows. Soul of a Nation (1.3 mil/0.2) was steady with its finale. Want scoop on any of the above shows? Email InsideLine@tvline.com and your question may be answered via Matt’s Inside Line. The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Warning: Contents may be hot! The Grim Reaper certainly worked overtime during the month of May. Throughout this year’s May Sweeps period (which concluded on Wednesday), more than 30 small-screen characters met their demise — some of them rather grisly, in fact. (The bright side? This year’s tally of 33 deaths is considerably lower than the 44 that last year’s Sweeps delivered.) In the attached gallery, we’re reflecting on the men and women — and, in some cases, demons! — who perished in the last month. And it should go without saying that our photo recap contains major spoilers, so steer clear unless you’re caught up on your favorite shows. The CW’s Charmed reboot led the death count, with a whopping eight characters headed to the TV afterlife. Meanwhile, The 100 and Whiskey Cavalier claimed second place with three deaths a piece. (Check out our May Sweeps Scorecard to see all of the month’s other developments, including hookups, breakups, character exits and more.) We’ve also made room in our photo gallery for a few not-quite-official deaths, like The Flash‘s Nora, who “died” by getting erased from the present timeline. Heartbreaking and timey-wimey? It counts! Most Britons will wake up to dark and murky skies this morning as thicken clouds loom over much of Britain.
Areas most likely to be affected include England and Wales, particularly in east Anglia as well as western Scotland.
It is also possible for some drizzle to occur across the east coast of East Anglia as a weather front weakens.
Meanwhile, showers are expected to develop in western Scotland during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Elsewhere dry, with cloud to still linger over England and Wales, however, this will keep the temperatures up.
Weather reporter Matt Terry told BBC Breakfast viewers there would be showers today, before reassuring listeners there was going to be sunshine too.
He said: “We’ve got lots of cloud around in that south east corner, outbreaks of rain as well to take us through the morning rush hour.
“The odd heavier one along the coast as well, but away from that lots of dry weather to start the day. [However] a few showers spreading in across western Scotland.”
The best of the weather will be in England and Wales, where it has the potential to be mild and sunny.
Unfortunately, the sunshine won’t last long as the weather front moves in front the Atlantic, bringing with it rain to Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
Throughout the day, the rain will turn progressively heavier in western Scotland, however, England and Wales is going to remain dry for most of the afternoon.
Temperatures in the south east ranging between the high teens and low 20s, meanwhile, further north most places lower than 15 degrees Celsius.
At end of the week the weather will turn increasingly unsettled, starting with Thursday when a lot of cool air strikes northern Britain.
Also with an area of low pressure forming in Scotland tomorrow a hefty amount of rain is predicted to fall over the country before heading to northern England.
On the same day a weather front building up in the south will move across Wales, parts of southern England, the south west and the south Midlands, where there is going to be outbreaks of rain.
After a jet stream amplifies overnight, the UK will find its self trapped under a ridge of low pressure, resulting in further downpours across the UK.
With the weekend set to be a pleasant one bookmaker Ladbrokes has one again slashed odd on this month being the hottest September on record.
At 6/4 the firm are now offering record odds for the year that September 2018 is the hottest in British history.
Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “Chances of a record-breaking September have never been better with temperatures continuing to rise as the odds fall.”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC ONE.
Put away the shorts and bring out the brooms — curling is back for another season after a quick retreat during the summer months.
This winter CBC Sports is expanding its curling programming to include more international and domestic events, giving fans of the sport hours of coverage.
It begins this weekend as CBC Sports is live-streaming the World Curling Tour Baden Masters event in Switzerland to kick off the competitive international season. There are no Canadian teams competing in the event, but recognizable names are all over the scoreboards.
The biggest name at the Baden event is Nik Edin. The Swedish skip is coming off one of his best years to date, capped off by a world championship in Las Vegas this past April. Edin defeated Canada's Brad Gushue in the final in what was a rematch of the title game a year earlier. He also won the silver medal in PyeongChang after dropping the championship game to John Shuster's American squad.
Edin's team will be competing against 19 other foursomes all looking to set the tone for the season. Other noticeable teams competing include the Olympic bronze-medallists from Switzerland, led by skip Peter de Cruz. The upstart and youthful Bruce Mouat squad from Scotland is also competing.
After Canada's men and women failed to win a medal for the first time at the Olympics, many questioned whether or not the rest of the world had caught up to or even surpassed Canada in curling power. This despite Canada's gold medal in mixed doubles' debut at the Olympics by Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris.
But that conversation was muted in March after Jennifer Jones won the women's world championship in Thunder Bay and Gushue made it to the men's championship game in April.
Canada's depth of curling and level of competition prepares teams for the international tests, but the rest of the world's curling teams are spending more time at the big bonspiels and becoming more battled tested.
World Curling Tour events as well as the Grand Slam of Curling events are now ladened with international talent. Those teams are spending more time in North American playing meaningful curling games against Canada's top talent.
At the end of last year's curling season the athletes were certainly fatigued, compounded by the fact that it was an Olympic season. But that shouldn't take away from the fact that curling is as professional as it gets, minus the big payouts seen in other pro sports.
Curling is now played nine months out the year — many of the curlers also work jobs on the side. Securing sponsorship and winning events are the team's lifelines to being able to live on the road and play the sport.
And so let the roaring game begin in August when most people are still thinking about sitting on a beach rather than sitting in a cold arena watching rocks slide up and down the pebbled sheets.
The curlers are ready, hitting the hacks and back in the house.

Hurricane Lane is heading towards Hawaii at speeds of over 150mph making the Hawaiian islands very vulnerable, the latest bulletin from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) revealed. This is the latest travel advice.
The category five storm is the second on record to pass within 350 miles of Hawaii, USA, as it approaches the island from the south, as opposed to the east where cooler water is recorded and can often downgrade the strength of a storm.
The state is now officially under Hurricane Watch as Lane makes its way across the Pacific Ocean.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hurricane warning for the main islands.
Tropical winds and heavy rainfall could threaten the region, with flash-flooding and damage.
AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski said: “Lane has the potential of bringing the state of Hawaii serious and perhaps record damage.”
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated their travel advice for Britons in or travelling to Hawaii.
“The US National Weather Service has declared the state of Hawaii to be under a hurricane watch due to the approach of Hurricane Lane,” the FCO website states.
“If you’re in the area, you should be vigilant, take necessary precautions, monitor local news broadcasts and follow the advice of local authorities.
“For more information and the latest updates check with the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.”
Hawaii Tourism Authority said in a public advisory: “Visitors planning to travel to or who are already here in the Hawaiian Islands should contact their airlines, accommodations and activity providers for information on being prepared and make adjustments to travel plans as needed.”
Airports in the Hawaiian Islands are preparing emergency generators and pumping stations with fuel and emergency fuel for possible deployments, the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported.
Airports will communicate with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding flight conditions and flights could be cancelled in coming days.
The FAA tweeted yesterday morning: “Hurricane Lane may cause airlines to cancel flights in the direct path of the storm near Hawaii. Please check flight status with your airline.”
Honolulu Airport currently remains open with flights operating in and our out of Hawaii’s capital on the island of Oahu.
United Airlines has issued a travel waiver in light to the hurricane.
On their website, it states: “The change fee and any difference in fare will be waived for new United flights departing on or before September 9, 2018, as long as travel is rescheduled in the originally ticketed cabin (any fare class) and between the same cities as originally ticketed.”
Other airlines waiving rebooking fees include Delta, Hawaiian, Alaska and American.
Holidaymakers in Hawaii already should try to book flights out of the state as soon as possible, Sarah Schlichter, senior editor of travel website SmarterTravel told MarketWatch.
“You should try to fly out early if you can,” Schlichter said. “This way emergency services can focus on the locals during the storm.”
Tourists with travel insurance will be covered for any changes in plan as a result of the hurricane such as hotel evacuation and flight cancellation.
Hawaiian emergency authorities have advised that tourists staying in hotels check with front desk staff to find out what emergency accommodations will be available. Public shelters throughout the state will accept tourists, according to MarketWatch.
Hurricane season usually runs between November to May, although can occur any time of year depending on weather conditions.
The Toronto Blue Jays are going to enjoy Monday's day off after all.
Justin Smoak had three hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs to help the Blue Jays end a five-game losing streak with an 8-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
"This takes some pressure off all of us," Smoak said. "Every one of us was trying to make the play that ended the streak, but now we can just focus on winning the next game."
Aaron Sanchez (3-5) pitched six innings and ended a five-start winless streak, giving up one run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven.
"I'm not sure what was different, to be honest," he said. "I was aggressive, but I try to do that every game. I guess I was just hitting the strike zone more often."
Michael Fulmer (2-5) allowed four runs on five hits and three walks in six-plus innings, striking out three. Fulmer has a 6.89 ERA in his past six starts.
"I'll be back when I start helping us win some games again," he said. "Sanchez was good today, and I needed to be better."
Sanchez and Fulmer kept the game scoreless through five innings.
Fulmer walked Yangervis Solante with two outs in the sixth, and Smoak hit a 3-2 fastball over the scoreboard in right-centerfield to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead.
"We knew getting the first runs was going to be big, with the way both Fulmer and Aaron were pitching," Smoak said. "You always know if it going to be tough to get to (Fulmer), because he's got two great pitches with the fastball and slider."
Leonys Martin led off the bottom of the inning with his seventh homer to make it 2-1.
Fulmer gave up a single and a walk to start the seventh, and was replaced by Warwick Saupold.
"I was happy with what I saw," Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. "If we can take that and move forward, we're going to have just what we expected from him."
Devon Travis hit the ball to the wall in right, but Nicholas Castellanos made a leaping catch at the wall. Kevin Pillar took third on the play and scored on Randal Grichuk's double, giving the Blue Jays a two-run lead.
Aledmys Diaz put Toronto ahead by three runs with an RBI single, and Solarte made it 5-1 with a two-out hit. The Blue Jays got a bad break when Smoak's 414-foot double bounced off the centerfield fence – Solarte would have scored easily from first – but Diaz's run gave Toronto a 6-1 lead.
"That's what we really needed," said Blue Jays manager John Gibbons. "We had a bunch of guys step up with big hits, and we were able to hold them off at the end."
Grichuk hit a two-run homer off Zac Reininger in the eighth to make it 8-1. The Tigers scored three runs off three Toronto pitchers in the bottom of the inning, but Ryan Tepara retired five straight batters to end the game.

South Korea’s EunJung Kim and the Olympic darling Garlic Girls used a pressure-heavy style to reach the podium at the Winter Games.
It didn’t work against Canada’s Jennifer Jones on Wednesday at the world women’s curling championship.
Jones knocked off the Pyeongchang silver medallists 8-4 and then topped Olympic champion Anna Hasselborg of Sweden 8-4 in the evening.
Canada (8-0) moved into sole possession of first place in the round-robin standings. Sweden fell to 8-1 and South Korea dropped to 6-2.
In the opener, a back-and-forth matchup swung Canada’s way in the seventh end and the host side didn’t look back.
“We just made some big shots when we had to and it really changed the game,” Jones said.
The Canadians have been slow starters at times this week and the South Korea game was no different.
Jones went for a double takeout in the first end but wrecked on a guard and gave up a steal of one. The Canadian skip made a tap for one to pull even in the second.
After South Korea was forced to a single, Jones delivered an in-off for two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
The Canadians had some struggles with draw weight in the early going but still threw 86 per cent overall.
Kim settled for a single in the fifth end and nailed a hit and roll in a crowded house before stealing one in the sixth. Jones responded with a draw for two — the second point confirmed on a measure — and a 5-4 lead.
The boisterous crowd of 2,753 at the North Bay Memorial Gardens popped after the decision and the Canadians were in control.
Jones, the 2014 Olympic champ, stole a single in the eighth and had her stone freeze after a brilliant double takeout in the ninth. Kim was heavy with her draw and Canada stole a pair to seal it.
“[Jones] really came up with some big saves that game,” said Canadian national team coach Elaine Dagg-Jackson. “If she doesn’t make one of those shots, that game looks totally different.
“Korea put a lot of pressure on Canada today.”
The South Koreans, who threw 73 per cent as a team, fell to 6-2.
“Jennifer Jones is a world champion, she’s also an Olympic gold medallist and she was making incredible shots,” Kim said via a translator. “She has a lot of control.”
Hasselborg struggled with her draw weight in the night game. She was heavy on an open draw to the four-foot to give up a steal of one in the second end.
Hasselborg smacked her broom on the ice in frustration after rubbing a guard to give Canada a stolen deuce in the fifth end. Sweden got two points back but Jones nailed a hit for three in the seventh to put the game away.
Earlier in the day, Sweden beat Germany’s Daniela Jentsch 8-4 and South Korea edged American Jamie Sinclair 9-8. Round-robin play continues through Friday night.
Six of the 13 teams in the field will reach the playoffs. The medal games are scheduled for Sunday.
This is the sixth time that Jones has played in the world championship. Her lone title came in 2008.
Ottawa’s Rachel Homan won gold at last year’s event in Beijing. She represented Canada at the Pyeongchang Games but did not make the podium.
Brad Gushue of St. John’s will represent Canada at the Mar. 31-Apr. 8 world men’s curling championship in Las Vegas.
