We don’t yet know who is behind WandaVision’s seemingly perfect alternate reality — is Wanda the architect? Or could this be the work of a malevolent force? — but the Disney+ series is clear about who runs the suburban town within it. In the second episode, titled “Don’t Touch That Dial,” we were introduced to Dottie Jones (Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Emma Caulfield), a Regina George-like figure who, according to Agness (Kathryn Hahn), is the “key to everything” in Westview. She’s married to Phil (who was fired by Vision’s boss in the first episode, “Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience”) and isn’t particularly fond of the show’s titular heroes. (“I’ve heard things about you, you and your husband Vision,” she told Wanda during an icy exchange.) It’s unclear what her role will be as the story picks up, but judging by her memorable appearance, she’s just getting started. “The whole thing’s a lot of fun,” Caulfield tells TVLine. “It’s incredibly disconcerting for Dottie to hear [the voice in the radio] as it is for Wanda. Both of us are having a surreal moment for very different reasons,” Caulfield explains. “But in the end, it’s terrifying for both of us, and there’s that element of gaining control of ourselves again.” That bizarre moment is one of several that have left fans buzzing about Westview’s resident queen bee. In another, Wanda and Vision put on a disastrous yet hysterical magic show that briefly featured a fluffy white rabbit. The cameo has been interpreted as a nod to Caulfield’s beloved Buffy character Anya, who notoriously feared bunnies in the Joss Whedon series. However, Caulfield reveals that she didn’t make the Buffy connection until it was pointed out to her. “I shot it, and I didn’t catch it. I didn’t have anything to do with the rabbit. This is Wanda’s action. It’s her magic act with Vision. I did not catch it,” she says. Caulfield reveals that she texted WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer, who she previously worked with on the 2009 sci-fi film Timer, to ask if that was an intentional reference. “She would have said something if that was her intention, to put that little Buffy Easter egg in there. She never said anything to me about it, so I think it’s pure coincidence,” she adds, while noting that “it would make sense that somebody would throw a fun little Easter egg in there like that.” Whilst a third opposing his demonstration added: “I might put #SaturdayKitchen back on, James Martin is cooking fried bread.” “@jamesmartinchef @sat_jamesmartin beef dripping fried bread with a slab of butter, no,” a fourth remarked. A fifth responded: “@sat_jamesmartin oh James I love you! You have just brought back so many wonderful memories with the fried bread and dripping!” “Cackling at James Martin knowing how much he’s upsetting people. Fried bread with a slice of butter…Sir my cholesterol took a hit watching that,” a sixth commented. James Martin’s Saturday Morning airs Saturdays at 9:30am on ITV.
Every year, some 30,000 camels descend on Pushkar, a small town in the state of Rajasthan, in what’s been billed as India’s “greatest tribal gathering”. Photographer Annapurna Mellor captures the madness. Gazing through his long, sandy eyelashes, the beast stares curiously into my lens. I’ve photographed camels before—on the dunes of the Gobi, the Sahara, and Egypt’s Western Desert—and each time, they strike me as grand, proud, tranquil beings. Despite their grace, it’s my own kind, the herders who live among these creatures, who I’m here to learn more about. Unlike most towns in India, Pushkar doesn’t have a railway station. To reach it, you have to take a jam-packed bus from the nearby city of Ajmer. For an hour, the bus rocks and rumbles down the dusty road before skidding to a halt at the edge of the town. RELATED: Dancing for love in the deserts of Chad Compared to other Rajasthani towns I’ve visited, Pushkar is quiet. I arrived a few days ago, on one of the last days of Diwali and a week before the official start of the famous Pushkar Camel Fair. As I walk around town on my first night, locals light candles along the edges of Pushkar Lake and the sky glows a deep pink. This sleepy town has already grabbed me by the eyeballs—and I haven’t even spied a camel yet. Pushkar lies in the west of India, between the sandy blankets of the Thar Desert and the technicolor cities of Rajasthan. It’s a small town, shrouded by spirituality—the lake in the center of town is said to have been formed by the tears of the Hindu God, Shiva. As such, it attracts pilgrims from all over India. I meet Ram in a local chai (tea) shop in the early days of the fair. He’s a local musician, and the same age as me. I’m carrying a heavy, overpriced camera, but his instrument of choice is a piece of wood he’s carved into an ektaara—an Indian guitar. Between sips of chai, he plucks it melodically, singing local folk songs about the harshness of the desert and family life. We become friends, and he introduces me to many of the herders and helps me gain their trust—enough for them to let me photograph their families (and their camels). On our first morning together out on the dunes, a family of nomads invite us into their circle; the mother, who has a delicate face and bright green eyes, begins brewing chai masala spices with a bag of sweet milk. The fair originally began as a way to attract camel and cattle traders to do business during the holy Kartik Purnima festival, traditionally held here on the full moon in the Hindu lunar month of Kartika (November-December). But inevitably, it’s now become a major drawcard for tourists, and the traditional camel trading has now given way to a program of activities—including camel beauty contests, camel racing and camel dancing competitions. RELATED: Pakistan’s last Wakhi shepherdesses The population of Pushkar, usually home to some 21,000 locals, booms to 400,000 during the festival. As the town fills with tourists and pilgrims, the official fair begins and a cultural program takes place alongside the camel market. There’s no shortage of activities and performances to behold—from temple dancing, folk music concerts, spiritual and heritage walks, and even a moustache competition. While the weeks before the fair had been a serene affair, chaos sets in as soon as the official fair kicks off. Ram hates this part, and it doesn’t take me long to see why. Tour groups arrive en masse, armed with zoom lenses, capturing the faces of the herders and their families without permission. I notice that many of the families I had spent time had left before the fair began, or were beginning to pack up early, fleeing the zoo-like pandemonium. Away from the camel herding grounds, the cultural performances provide some alternative entertainment, and the women in their best clothes—bright colors, sequins, lavish fabrics—is a wonderful sight to capture. The streets of this once-sleepy town are constantly congested and street performers from neighboring villages mark off street corners to charm snakes, play local music or perform circus tricks. The calm of Pushkar is no longer, but I still find places of refuge—up Snake Mountain, which looms over the city, or out in Ram’s home village. Down at the lake, pilgrims are now visiting in their thousands, dipping into the holy waters. As the fair eventually winds down, the remaining herders round up their camels and begin to march them over the desert back to their villages in the Western Thar Desert—and Pushkar returns to its usual sleepiness. With the madness over, Ram breathes a sigh of relief. Until next year, that is, when the surreal Pushkar Camel Fair will inevitably descend on the town again. —-RELATED STORIES
A jarring scene at the gazebo suggested there’s much more to Dottie than she’s currently letting on. When Wanda told her she means no harm, the well-dressed homemaker said she doesn’t believe her. Both women were then interrupted by Randall Park’s FBI agent Jimmy Woo calling to Wanda through the radio. The confusing moment seemingly snapped Dottie out of her sitcom character, and she questioned Wanda’s identity before shattering a glass in her hand, cutting herself in the process. Jumping back into character, Dottie made an off-the-cuff joke about bloodstains, and the moment was quickly forgotten.

The culture is fatalistic. This is not to deny the existence of ambition; there’s always the shipbuilding entrepreneur or fisherman who sends his children to an expensive school in Tulear. But focusing too much on the future implies an ability to change one’s circumstances by altering the natural course of events. The Vezo, after centuries of following nature’s ebb and flow, see such an attitude as arrogance. “Many still migrate,” Veloko tells me of his friends. “Most of the net fishermen have already left with their families heading north. We will move on too, when the sea stops giving here”.
The wind changes and we seize the chance to make it back before nightfall. The crew’s tuneless, heavily accented rendition of a pop song accompanies our return to the mainland. As we near Belo sur Mer, we catch sight of other lakanas, on the same wind, making for the natural harbor. On the beach, the wives wait. Their husbands do not always return. As the canoes are forced into ever deeper water in search of a catch, more boats are lost forever.
Getting a clear response from a nomadic culture, it turns out, is beyond my abilities. The Vezo society, I gather, is built around a response to the rhythms of nature; moving with the fish. They invest only in the essentials of their livelihoods—boat and equipment. They eat from that day’s catch, trading for other essential foodstuffs, such as rice. They celebrate with any money left over. Denis recalls when a huge haul of sea cucumbers had earned them AR 1,500,000 ($ 450) a few months ago. The crew bought a new sail and mast, then went drinking. They woke up, two days later, with empty pockets and returned to sea.
]]>A stranger finds himself in a strange land, a dark carnival inhabitated by equally surreal characters; that is the world of Strangeland. Described as a shorter game than Primordia but just as dense and polished, Strangeland follows your character as he attempts to prevent a cycle of death and stop a growing darkness within the gnarled funhouse walls of its mysterious carnival.
In classic adventure game style, you’ll need to talk with characters, solve puzzles, and discover the secrets of the otherworldly fairgrounds. But the draw seems to be the unique setting, a broken and haunted amusement park home to a myriad of odd inhabitants: mocking ravens, an eyeless scribe, a living furnace, a mismade mermaid.”

In yet another jaw-dropping interview that seemed to be broadcast from an alternate universe, venture capitalist Tim Draper tenaciously defended the failed blood testing company Theranos and its disgraced founder and CEO, Elizabeth Holmes.
In the interview, which aired on CNBC, Draper called the limping start-up “one of those extraordinary companies” and said he was glad to have backed Holmes, who he knows personally. Draper provided $ 500,000 in seed money when Holmes was just starting the company as a 19-year-old Stanford drop-out. “It was a great mission and she did a great job,” he said. “I’m thrilled with what she’s done.”
He went so far as to call Holmes a “great icon,” to which CNBC “Closing Bell” co-host Kelly Evans responded bluntly: “Icon of what?” Draper didn’t respond to the question, though.

Beckett is a detective game about a missing persons investigator on the lookout for someone who’s suffering from a “reality-altering illness”. This will lead the detective, Beckett, into a world where reality is falling apart and life is consumed by the surreal, forcing players to grasp at meaning and imagination to fill in the gaps in this unsettling, yet compelling, journey.
Players will work through the narration of the game’s storyline, forcing players to reconstruct events from the fragments, visions, and interactions they find within Beckett‘s world. As they do so, a story may emerge in their own minds, making them take part in the quagmire of reality that the game offers, leaving a part of themselves in the narrative along the way. It is the player’s take on the meaning of events, shaped by their own lives mingling with that of the game itself, that shape it, after all, the two shifting as they move in tandem.
Beckett is designed to respond to how you interact with it, drawing the player into its absurdist nightmare, pulling them ever forward through their curiosity. It’s an intriguing game that pulls the participant in through their curiosity, but what secrets and meanings will you find that are specific to you? As you play Beckett, what will it play back through your presence within it?
Beckett is available for $ 9.99 on Steam. For more information on the game and developer The Secret Experiment, you can head to the game’s site, the developer’s site, or follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Bowler is best played with little information on what it is and what it does, though, so just go ahead and go get it if you need your day shaken up a bit by color and imagination. And great hats.
