  • Sunski, a popular sunglasses brand and Kickstarter-alum, is now making sunglasses out of recycled plastics.
  • You can see all the company styles here, ranging from $ 48 – $ 68. The Portolas, Manresas, and Chalets are now made from recycled plastics.
  • According to Sunski, the new sunglasses are stronger and more comfortable to wear but are otherwise unchanged by the new process.
  • Sunski also participates in 1% for the Planet, in which the company donates 1% of sales to environmental non-profits.

After three years of trial and error, the popular sunglass brand Sunski has released a collection made entirely out of recycled plastics.

Princess Eugenie wears space age sunglasses to attend wedding with Jack Brooksbank https://briefnews.eu/princess-eugenie-wears-space-age-sunglasses-to-attend-wedding-with-jack-brooksbank/ https://briefnews.eu/princess-eugenie-wears-space-age-sunglasses-to-attend-wedding-with-jack-brooksbank/#respond Sat, 04 Aug 2018 16:05:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/princess-eugenie-wears-space-age-sunglasses-to-attend-wedding-with-jack-brooksbank/

Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank attended the wedding of Daisy Jenks and Charlie Van Straubenzee today.

The engaged couple held hands as they entered the wedding venue of Saint Mary The Virgin Church in Fresham, Surrey.

Their own wedding is coming up imminently on 12 October this year. The pair will wed at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Princess Eugenie is known for her quirky style choices, like her Philip Treacy hat for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding in 2011.

Today was no exception as she opted for a pair of space age style sunglasses to shield her eyes from the rays.

Princess Eugenie’s clothing was fairly demure. She wore a cornflower blue dress.

It was midi length and fitted tightly around the bust and hips, hugging Eugenie’s curves.

She paired it with a cropped white jacket which had decorative buttons down one lapel.

On her feet she wore a pair of nude stiletto heels with a thin ankle strap which buckled at the side.

Her accessories, however, told a different story altogether to her demure look.

The daring sunglasses looked like a pair of 3D cinema goggles, adding a space age touch to the traditional look.

Eugenie also held a clashing multi-coloured boxy clutch in one hand. It was embellished with flowers in different colours of red, pink, blue and green.

Princess Eugenie later took off her white blazer in the heat to reveal toned arms.

Earlier this week, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were given the same honour Kate Middleton and Princess Diana once had.

The sisters will follow in the footsteps of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and the late Princess Diana, who both featured in the magazine before.

Kate featured on the front cover of the publication for its centenary issue in 2016.

Princess Diana, meanwhile, starred on the front cover in 1991.

However, there is a crucial difference as the princesses will not feature on the front cover of the magazine.

The cover featuring Rihanna, 30, was already unveiled earlier today.

It is believed Eugenie and Beatrice will feature in the pages of the September issue instead.

Sunglasses are something I look forward to shopping for every season — not only because the trends fluctuate, but because I often lose my cheaper pairs and need new ones anyway. I have one expensive pair (that I’m too afraid of losing or ruining to wear every day) and many not-so-expensive pairs that often need replacing; Either they fall off my head on a bumpy boat ride or I leave them behind at a baseball game.

And because the ocean has about 30 pairs of my sunglasses in its depths, I don’t want each sunglass purchase to put me over budget. I also don’t want to compromise and settle for a style I don’t love.

Thankfully, you don’t have to spend $ 300 on a pair of sunglasses to get something that flatters your face shape, actually blocks the sun (polarized or non-polarized), and is either a classic or a fun, of-the-moment upgrade to your closet. To help with the process, I’ve rounded up 20 pairs that fit that bill below.

Bose sunglasses hands-on: audio AR makes more sense than you think https://briefnews.eu/bose-sunglasses-hands-on-audio-ar-makes-more-sense-than-you-think/ https://briefnews.eu/bose-sunglasses-hands-on-audio-ar-makes-more-sense-than-you-think/#respond Sun, 11 Mar 2018 01:18:15 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bose-sunglasses-hands-on-audio-ar-makes-more-sense-than-you-think/

This week, Bose made a surprise announcement that it was getting into the augmented reality game. But Bose makes headphones, right? And AR is all about glasses with visual overlays? Well, nobody told them, and that’s a good thing. The company believes that the classic approach works fine for many things, but it still presents barriers (cost of specific hardware, battery life and so on).

Visual distractions also aren’t always appropriate, and sometimes all you need is relevant info — restaurant opening times, points of interest, for example — whispered in your ear. That’s what Bose is offering, and we (that’s me, and my colleague Cherlynn Low in the pictures and video above) tried it out for ourselves in downtown Austin at SXSW.

When Bose announced its AR intentions, it did so with a pair of sunglasses, not headphones. This might lead you to think there was still a visual component, but there isn’t. The reason Bose chose a pair of specs is because a set of “smart headphones” would be predictable, and Bose wanted to shake things up a bit. So, it put its technology in sunglasses to show that it can be used in any kind of head-worn wearable, opening it up to all sorts of possibilities.

When a Bose representative handed me a pair of the glasses, I asked if they used bone-conduction for the audio, but he said no. I slipped them on, and instantly heard music. It had been playing before I put them on, but I hadn’t realized, it was barely audible until the glasses were sitting on my ears. Bose says they worked on a super-thin mini speaker that “projects” audio into your ears, and was designed with this specific project in mind.

I’ll be honest, Cherlynn and I were both pretty impressed with just the idea of music-playing sunglasses as they were, we hadn’t even moved on to the AR demo yet. The sound quality was very impressive and there was a built-in microphone for answering calls. The glasses were 3D-printed prototypes, but were still light and comfortable to wear.

The AR element works thanks to a nine-axis IMU sensor that, in combinations with your phone’s GPS, not only knows where you are, but exactly which direction you’re looking in.

Before we headed out into the world, Bose played us some example audio with local information, or opening times, and demonstrated direction-specific information being played only in the one ear (“to your left is the train station” for example). Those ideas are somewhat possible with a phone and headphones already, the point here is that you will be able to look at something, and call up information about it on request.

To test this for real, Bose took us out onto Austin’s bustling Rainey Street. A lively spot filled with quirky bars and eateries. At the top of the street, I looked at a block of apartments, and double-tapped the side of the glasses (the gesture programmed to call up info for our demo). Initially I was told there was no information available. But I then turned around and looked at a restaurant called “El Naranjo,” double tapped again, and was told the name, the chef, where they trained, opening hours, how long people typically stayed there for and the type of cuisine (Mexican). I repeated this all the way down the street, looking at different businesses with impressive accuracy.

Of course, this information was just a demo created by Bose; it’s the technology that’ss important. All I can say is that it worked pretty well. Only one time did I get info on a bar next to the one I was actually looking at. But that was rectified by a slight adjustment of my head to get my target central to my gaze. Oh, and all the while, I had music playing in my ears, which would dip in volume as information was served up. Bose said that, when using this technology in actual headphones with noise cancellation, developers would be able to focus your attention to alerts etc, by “turning off” ambient noise around you to make sure you hear important details.

And that’s a key point to mention here. Bose isn’t trying to invent everything here (though it will of couse plan to use this in its own headphones). It wants product-makers, app developers and creators to use its technology however they want. Training apps could use it to tell you where popular cycle routes are, or even where other runners are during a race relative to you. Other natural fits for this include travel info and reviews, of course, but this could just as easily be applied to games and language learning and beyond.

To encourage companies to adopt Bose AR, the audio firm has a pool of $ 50-million up for grabs to entice developers. So, whether you’re working on a dating app, a food delivery service or anything that could profit from location-specific information, then know that Bose appears to be serious about making it mainstream.

Audio and AR aren’t entirely strangers. We’ve seen rumblings from companies like Harman, Here and games like good ole’ Pokemon Go have all dabbled in augmenting sound in our environment. What Bose seems to be doing differently is making it useful and ubiquitous. By knowing what you’re looking at, and being able to control with gestures (touch, voice recognition or nodding for example) you can interact with apps without looking at your phone in what feels like an intuitive way. Whether this is a technology easily replicated by giants like Google (it’s be perfect for Pixel Buds) or Apple remains to be seen.

It’s worth noting that the demo we were given isn’t an indicator of what it might actually be like in real life. The world is big, maps are inaccurate, and sensors can be fooled and confused. But it’s a promising start. If Bose can lure those developers over, and get its platform into a variety of devices, simply looking at something could be the go-to way of learning about the world.

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway SLAMS Anna Wintour over Queen sunglasses gaffe https://briefnews.eu/good-morning-britains-kate-garraway-slams-anna-wintour-over-queen-sunglasses-gaffe/ https://briefnews.eu/good-morning-britains-kate-garraway-slams-anna-wintour-over-queen-sunglasses-gaffe/#respond Wed, 21 Feb 2018 08:08:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/good-morning-britains-kate-garraway-slams-anna-wintour-over-queen-sunglasses-gaffe/

Anna, 68, prompted headlines when she failed to remove her infamous sunglasses following Queen Elizabeth II’s first ever appearance at London Fashion Week.

And on Good Morning Britain today, Kate Garraway, 50, appeared to mock the former editor of Vogue.

The host donned an oversized pair of sunglasses, which took up half of her face, at numerous points in the ITV show.

Posing for the camera, Kate laughed: “It does hide the bags mind.”

Co-host Susanna Reid, 47, laughed: ”You haven’t got bags!”

However Kate joked: “Oh I’ve got shopping bags under here.”

The long-standing ITV presenter added that viewers had tweeted her to suggest the real reason they all needed to cover their eyes was because of her sunshine yellow suit.

Before the segment ended, Kate took one more swipe at Anna, insisting: “She should have taken them off.”

When Kate started the show in her sunglasses, viewers seemed confused by the style choice as one tweeted: “Why is Kate Garraway wearing sunglasses?”

A second joked: “Thought @kategarraway was trying to aid a bad hangover for a second.”

Another added: “Well Kate wins – she looks great xxx.”

Just yesterday, Kate was snubbed by a model who she interviewed on Good Morning Britain.

Gwilym Pugh appeared on the show to discuss his incredible weight loss which kick-started his modelling career.

However, when the presenter went in for a handshake, the model left her hanging.

Although nothing was said of the moment on air, Twitter was set alight at the very sight of the snub.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.

Josh Gordon scores first touchdown for Browns since return to NFL, and promptly dons sunglasses https://briefnews.eu/josh-gordon-scores-first-touchdown-for-browns-since-return-to-nfl-and-promptly-dons-sunglasses/ https://briefnews.eu/josh-gordon-scores-first-touchdown-for-browns-since-return-to-nfl-and-promptly-dons-sunglasses/#respond Sun, 10 Dec 2017 23:56:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/josh-gordon-scores-first-touchdown-for-browns-since-return-to-nfl-and-promptly-dons-sunglasses/ Josh GordonJason Miller/Getty Images

  • Josh Gordon made his return to the NFL last week after multiple years of suspension.
  • On Sunday, Gordon scored his first touchdown since his return, finding the end zone for the first time since 2013.
  • The Browns are still winless but threatening the Packers late in Sunday’s game.

Josh Gordon scored his first touchdown since his return to the NFL on Sunday, catching an 18-yard pass from DeShone Kizer in the first quarter of the Browns’ game against the Packers.

It was Gordon’s first touchdown since December 15, 2013.

You can check out the play below:

After the score, Gordon returned to the Browns’ sideline and donned a pair of sunglasses, strutting for the cameras and the home crowd.

Gordon made his return to the NFL last week, playing his first game since 2014 due to suspensions stemming from multiple violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. After a solid performance last week, Gordon came out firing for the Browns on Sunday, accruing 56 yards on Cleveland’s opening drive, including the score that tied the game early.

With Gordon back, the Cleveland offense has looked much more lively the past two weeks. And after adding another score in the third quarter, it accomplished something the team hasn’t done in two years:

The Browns are still looking to secure their first win of the 2017 season.

The many sunglasses of the Trump administration https://briefnews.eu/the-many-sunglasses-of-the-trump-administration/ https://briefnews.eu/the-many-sunglasses-of-the-trump-administration/#respond Tue, 12 Sep 2017 17:19:11 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-many-sunglasses-of-the-trump-administration/ scaramucci sunglassesAside from sporting a pair of eclipse glasses (and taking them off to stare directly at the sun), President Donald Trump doesn’t wear sunglasses.

He’s ferried between the White House, his various private resorts, official duties, Air Force One, and the presidential limousine sans eyewear.

Yet many of his staff members and family frequently wear sunglasses of varying fashion levels and designs.

Here’s a roundup of the many sunglasses of the Trump administration:

The only instance we could find of Trump wearing sunglasses was in this “Saturday Night Live” promo from November 2015.

Dashboard glare could net Porsche owners free sunglasses https://briefnews.eu/dashboard-glare-could-net-porsche-owners-free-sunglasses/ https://briefnews.eu/dashboard-glare-could-net-porsche-owners-free-sunglasses/#respond Sun, 13 Aug 2017 21:48:29 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/dashboard-glare-could-net-porsche-owners-free-sunglasses/

At some point, everyone that drives a car will be temporarily blinded by a flash of light reflecting off a window, trim piece or dashboard. In certain 2007 to 2016 Porsches, the problem was so prominent and widespread that a class-action lawsuit was filed against the German automaker. Motor Trend recently discovered the terms of the settlement. If you purchased sunglasses in order to cut down on the glare coming from the dashboard, you could be eligible for $ 50 to $ 175 in compensation.

While that’s not nearly enough to cover the purchase of a sweet pair of Porsche Design sunglasses, it’s a whole lot better than nothing. The lawsuit claims that cars with Cognac, Luxor Beige, Natural Brown, Platinum Grey or Sand Beige interiors are defective and the glare is a factory flaw. The plaintiffs claim that the purchase of sunglasses is a modification intended to fix this flaw. While Porsche admits no fault and claims that there were no accidents or injuries caused by this glare, it decided to settle the lawsuit rather than head to court.

Many automakers use black or darker colored dashboards specifically to prevent this problem. Now we just need GM to stop using chrome or shiny plastic on the interior of its cars.
