Mozilla has given its privacy-focused mobile browser, the Firefox Focus, a makeover for both iOS 12 and the Google’s newest mobile OS Android Pie. Both versions come with elements to fit each mobile platform’s aesthetic — the one for iOS 12, for instance, has menus with more rounded corners. The one optimized for Android Pie, on the other hand, comes with a customized URL bar and a simplified settings menu. In addition, the latest versions now also display tips on how to use the browser on their homescreen. Plus, they now come with the ability to suggest key phrases when you type in the address bar.
Since Firefox Focus was created with a, well, focus on privacy, though, the search suggestions feature is switched off by default. You don’t have to provide search engines with any data on your usage if you don’t want to. But if you want to switch the feature on, you simply have to go to Settings and toggle it on. If you’re on iOS, you’ll also be able to use Siri shortcuts to set and open a favorite website and to launch the browser. The updated Firefox Focus is now available on iTunes and Google Play.

When you think of internet giants fighting terrorism online, there’s a good chance you think of them banning accounts and deleting posts. However, their friend suggestions may prove to be just as problematic. Researchers have shared a report to the Telegraph revealing that Facebook’s “suggested friends” feature has been connecting Islamic extremists on a routine basis. While some instances are almost expected (contacting one extremist brings up connections to others), some of the suggestions surface purely by accident: reading an article about an extremist uprising in the Philippines led to recommendations for “dozens” of local extremists.
And in at least one case, the suggestions helped recruiting efforts. An Indonesian ISIS backer sent a friend request to a non-religious New Yorker in March 2017, leading the man to support the group in the space of six months.
Facebook has been taking action, but the report noted that less than half the accounts had vanished in a six-month period. The company would also remove posts identified as terrorist content, but didn’t always ban the user in question. One terrorism suspect in the UK managed to get his account reinstated nine times despite posting propaganda videos.
A company spokesman stressed that their current approach “is working,” with 99 percent of Al Qaeda- and ISIS-oriented content removed automatically. At the same time, it acknowledged that there’s “no easy technical fix” and that it would “continue to invest” in both human reviewers and tech to catch extremist material.
The situation should improve, then, but this illustrates one of the central problems with curbing extremism online: the same features that help you stay in touch can inadvertently fuel terrorists by linking them to similarly vicious people. It also illustrates how far internet behemoths like Facebook have to go in fighting terrorism. Although there have certainly been improvements, there are still areas where extremists can spread their message.

Best Actress: Melanie Lynskey, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore
Look, I get it – this is one of the richest Best Actress fields in years, and it’s hard to even narrow this one to five front-runners. And I’m sure it’s easy to have missed this one, a Netflix streamer that premiered on the service all the way back in February. But that’s also when Get Out hit, so no excuses there! And Ms. Lynskey’s turn as a had-it-up-to-here wallflower who turns into an amateur detective/vigilante is a fine companion to Frances McDormand’s justifiably praised turn in Three Billboards – but with a bit more subtlety and finesse.

The Italian let rip in an extraordinary rant following claims players had gone behind his back to share concerns over training with former assistant Steve Holland and he was also dismissive of suggestions Carlo Ancelotti was in line to replace him at Stamford Bridge.
Conte said: “Around us there is a lot of bulls**t.
“It is true [there is a lot of bulls**t]. If I see the past it happened the same with a lot of managers.
“A lot of bulls**t. They try to create problems between me, the club and the players.
“This is a lack of respect. I can accept reports the club is ready to sack me and the story with the players.
“I can accept this but to put another person in this way I think this is incorrect and it is not good that this person has to send me a message to tell me ‘I am sorry but this is not true.’
“Why put another person in this bulls**t. If you want to hit me, hit me. This is incorrect and I hate this type of situation.”
Conte has not found the going easy with Chelsea adrift in fourth after a glorious first season in English football, where he won the Premier League.
Recent reports in Italy quoted him as homesick, while the latest suggestions were passionately dismissed after phone conversations with both Holland and former Chelsea manager Ancelotti.
“I am in touch with Carlo, he is my friend but he doesn’t mean [know] nothing,” he said.
“Why, why? I don’t read a lot and the Holland issue I only knew because he sent me a message.
“I don’t care what the newspapers write about my future or the other person because this is our job and Carlo is my friend. I have great respect for him and he was my coach in Juventus.”
Chelsea will again be without key midfielder N’Golo Kante for this evening’s trip to Bournemouth but Conte expects him to return for the Champions League game with Roma.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe believes it is unthinkable that Conte is under so much pressure.
“He has brought a lot to the Premier League,” said Howe. “You see a lot of teams have now tinkered with three at the back, or five at the back, whatever you want to call it.
“He has played a massive part in that revolution.
“He has brought a lot of passion and drive to the side-line and you can see the demands that he has set on his team, that’s been fascinating to watch.”
Fox Business
President Donald Trump appeared to solicit suggestions for the next Federal Reserve Chair during an interview with Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Wednesday.
“Do you have a preference, out of curiosity,” Trump asked after Dobbs began speaking about the position. “Tell me who your preference is.”
Dobbs hesitated and appeared to offer his suggestion when Trump interrupted him.
“I’d love to hear it, you can even cut it out if you want,” Trump said, as he looked towards the camera. “I only want that from people I respect.”
“I personally believe that Janet Yellen might be worth keeping,” Dobbs said, referring to the Fed’s current chair.
Trump didn’t dismiss the possibility of keeping Yellen, a liberal Democrat, and recounted a meeting he had with her, three days ago.
“She was very impressive, I like her a lot,” Trump said. “It’s somebody that I am thinking about.”
Trump has reportedly been teasing picks to head the Fed in recent days. Two candidates — Jerome Powell, a former private equity magnate now on the Fed’s board; and Kevin Warsh, a former Fed governor and Morgan Stanley banker — are considered to be leading the pack.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but Labor Day, the unofficial start of the fall season, is today, September 4th, 2017. That means time is running out on all those ambitious plans for barbecues, lounging at the beach and road trips.
On that last matter, we’ve got you covered. If you’ve left your planning to the last minute or are fresh out of ideas for your Labor Day road trip, let us propose five great scenic routes out there waiting for you. We recommend not merely driving them, but enjoying them in a convertible, the classic summer car.
Check out our look at five classic American roads that you need to see this Labor Day:</span>

Distance: 127 miles.
Key West is one of America’s most notorious party towns, but in this case, getting there can be as much fun as the destination.
The most well-known site along the 127-drive from the greater Miami area is Seven Mile Bridge, which stands as one of the iconic American crossings. It greets drivers west of Marathon, Fla., and continues over a seven-mile stretch in which drivers can see a beautiful blue horizon much more easily than land at the far end.
If checking out Key West, the one-time pirate cove and home to Hemingway, sounds a little too touristy, there’s plenty of out-of-the-way stops along the drive to make the trip one for the ages. There are mangrove swamps, crocodiles, pelicans and even the rare wild orchid found along the route, as well as a fisherman’s paradise and several state parks.</span>

Distance: 117 miles
OK, so the Sleeping Bear Dunes garnered a bit of national attention this past year when Good Morning America named the national lakeshore the most beautiful place in the country. But Michiganders know that the road to get there, M-22, is just as picturesque as the towering sand dunes.
Starting on the north end in Traverse City, the curvy route showcases quiet lakes, cozy vacation towns and the sand dunes, all while following Lake Michigan’s shoreline south. Much like our first selection of U.S. 1 in the Florida Keys, this route in northern Michigan also traverses some classic Hemingway country.
Need a break? At Pyramid Point, hikers can enjoy a tree-lined three-mile trail to a lookout that offers a spectacular view of the Manitou Islands, a few miles offshore. But those wishing to stay in the car will get spectacular views throughout the drive south to Manistee.</span>

Distance: 266 miles
This one may require some degree of advanced planning. But we couldn’t think of a road that better captures the spirit of the MX-5. If you can make it over to the Big Island of Hawaii, this would be a road trip worthy of any bucket list.
After ostensibly renting your ragtop at Kona International Airport head down Route 11 to Captain Cook, where you can stop off at Hookena Beach Park and do some snorkeling. Make your way around the southern tip of the island and spend ample time at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Let’s be honest: There are majestic views from just about anywhere along this road. For more points of interest, stop at Akaka Falls State Park as you make your way around the island in a counterclockwise direction and check out verdant rainforests and sugarcane fields, from which you can view Mauna Kea, one of the tallest mountains in the Pacific. (And for the adventurous, you can ski in February and March).</span>

The perfect road-trip vehicle – if your plans involve going off road. The Wrangler may be one of the most capable Jeeps ever made, and the standard soft top can be folded down or the hard top removed for trips along mountain trails.
The two-door Wrangler comes with four-wheel drive standard and a 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine. For those headed off road, it’s important to note that electronic stability control, traction control, brake assist and hill-hold control also come standard.</span>

Distance: Approximately 208 miles.
Skip the crowds at the Grand Canyon during the peak summer season and head toward the northeast corner of Arizona and into Monument Valley Tribal Park. Long before John Ford’s classic westerns made the area famous, the Navajos knew it well. Indian artifacts and history abound here.
There’s a 17-mile route inside the park that curls around some of the sandstone towers perfect for new offroaders. It’s unpaved, rocky and rutted. And it’s the only way to access some of the best parts of the park. Merrick Butte and Mitchell Mesa, named after two prospectors killed by Ute Indians, are two of the more spectacular monuments, as is Bird Spring, from which visitors can look out over vistas and sand dunes.</span>

Distance: 310 miles
To see the Corvette at its best, you need a flat, open expanse to test its capabilities. No better place than the arid desert of Death Valley National Park.
Start off your journey near the Panamint Springs entrance to the park – and with plenty of gas. There’s plenty of dunes to see along the way, as well as remnants of lava flows, distant peaks and overlooks across the desert.
The power of the Camaro can be harnessed as motorists make their way from the lowest elevation in the United States in Badwater Basin, at 282 feet below sea level, to one of the highest in the park, at Dantes View, at more than 5,000 feet.
Along the way, you can stop and see abandoned mines, rattlesnakes, fringe-toed lizards and hikeable canyons. One thing you will not see a lot of is water, so bring plenty for everyone.</span>

The new Archive feature recently spotted in Google Photos is now rolling out to all users, but it has an extra trick. While the Archive button lets you push more mundane photos (scans of receipts, screenshots of a random tweet, or maybe particularly personal photograph) out of the main Photos display without deleting it, there’s also a new suggestion in the Assistant tab that will use its machine learning skills to find likely candidates for you. Of course, you can manually archive photos any time you like (they’ll still show up in search or inside albums), but if you already have a significant Photos catalog this should make things easier. Whether you’re using Android, iOS or the website, the new option should be there.
New! See suggestions for photos to archive, so you can move photos you don’t want to see in your main library. See ya later, receipts
