The network on Thursday announced Haircut Night in America, a one-hour special in which top hair stylists will walk celebrities — and viewers — through the perfect DIY haircut, color and style from their homes.

Married actors Jerry O’Connell (Crossing Jordan) and Rebecca Romijn (Star Trek: Discovery) will host the special, which will feature TV personality Kelly Osbourne, Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and NHL player P.K. Subban, as well as frontline health care workers, as they attempt to change up their quarantine ‘dos.

“With the majority of salons and barbershops still closed while America shelters in place, many increasingly hirsute people are missing their regularly scheduled salon appointments, and now more than ever need expert advice on how to rein in their unruly manes,” the special’s official logline reads. “After nearly three months of social distancing, the time has come for people to take haircare into their own hands. In Haircut Night in America, top stylists will expertly guide celebrities in a “cut-a-long” from their homes and reveal the final looks, no matter the outcome. They’ll also weave in tips and tricks for viewers to achieve the best at-home coifs, turning DIY hair-DON’Ts into hair-DOs!”

“We’re all in this together, and we’re all starting to look a little shaggy,” said executive producer Tom Forman. “So grab your scissors and join us for a night of makeovers, stars, laughs, tips and celebrity home haircuts overseen by the best stylists in the world.”

Haircut Night in America, which was produced remotely, airs Friday, May 29 at 8/7c on CBS. Will you be watching?

DANISH DELIGHTS

No one ever really grows out of Lego, do they? And a trip to Billund in Jutland, southern Denmark, where it was invented, is a great way to build some family memories.

The big attractions of this tiny town are the Lego factory and the original Legoland.

Both are fewer than 15 minutes from the small and remarkably stress-free airport, as are Lalandia waterpark and the newest attraction, the Lego House educational centre, opened in 2017.

This area isn’t all about the plastic bricks though – the South Jutland coastline is full of places to picnic and paddle and birdwatching is excellent on the west coast’s intertidal wetland, the Wadden Sea.

Environment secretary Michael Gove and former Labour minister-turned Strictly Come Dancing celebrity, Ed Balls, have sent the public into a mixture of disbelief and nausea with a performance of the Gangnam Style dance.

The former political rivals put their differences aside to ‘entertain’ a crowd at a charity event, by imitating the moves to the massive international dance floor hit, made famous by South Korean pop sensation, PSY, some six ago.

The Times’ deputy political editor, Sam Coates, posted footage on social media of the pair enthusiastically swinging their hands around their heads, at the event organised by three government departments in central London.

The cringeworthy moment prompted a variety of humorous comments. Many joked that the sight of Gove and Balls gyrating made them feel ill. One twitter user claimed that “in 50 years, this will be a primary source in the most depressing History GCSE exam ever set.” While another complained that this was “never to be unseen.”

The comedy memes came thick and fast.

Balls, the former Labour Shadow Chancellor, enhanced his public profile with his appearance on the hit BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing in 2016. His performances drew a lot of laughter with his rather ungainly dance moves. For Gove, it was a rare moment of light relief, with Brexit turmoil currently engulfing PM Theresa May and her Tory government.

Share chargrilled broccoli nibbles (£5), grilled aubergine (£11) and steamed buns (a selection at £12) as workers make their way home, then cuddle up under a blanket sipping a warming glass of red wine as the nightlife bursts into action below.

ON YOUR DOORSTEP

The whole of London’s West End is on your doorstep, so whether you’re in town for shopping, sightseeing (Buckingham Palace is just around the corner) or the theatre, you’re perfectly located.

I popped into the National Gallery opposite and made plans to see an opera as soon as the Colosseum lights lured us in. There’s no shortage of late-night venues in neighbouring Soho to keep you entertained but the stylish suites are not somewhere to just dump your bags.

We could happily have bedded down early and pampered ourselves with the Molton Brown goodies on offer in the company of our new friend, Mick.

For the last decade or so, Range Rover has built vehicles more akin to posh living rooms that occasionally go off-roading than the rough and tumble Land Rover Defender 90s of yesteryear. That trend continues with the 2020 Evoque, albeit with a number of innovations that will minimize its environmental impact when you decide to literally go over the fields and through the woods to Grandma’s house this holiday.

The new iteration of the Evoque looks a lot like last year’s, it has all the same general stylings that one has come to expect from Range Rover’s line of compact luxury SUVs, including the iconic coupe-like roofline. The 2020 model however includes a bunch of new gadgets like LED head and tail lights and flush-folding door handles.

The interior has been redesigned to improve legroom (thanks to a slightly longer wheelbase) so that tall folks aren’t constantly banging their knees and increase the trunk’s overall storage space. Instead of leather, you’ll find a host of more environmentally conscious materials such as Kvadrat wool and Dinamica suede on the seats along with recycled plastics and natural material accents by Eucalyptus Textile and Ultrafabrics. As much as 73 pounds of every 2020 Evoque comes from recycled materials.

But don’t let the natural materials fool you. The 2020 Evoque’s interior also features an InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, the InControl remote mobile app, 16-point adjustable seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and an optional 4G hotspot (which also allows for wireless, OTA software updates). It’s also the first Range Rover to offer “Smart Settings” an AI assist system that learns and remembers each driver’s seat, music and climate preferences, resetting them whenever you get into the vehicle.

You’ll find a host of new features under the hood as well, including a 48-volt (296HP) mild-hybrid powertrain working alongside the 246HP Ingenium four-cylinder gasoline engine. When braking at speeds under 11 mph, the engine is programmed to turn off and allow the regenerative system to harvest energy from the slowing vehicle which can then be used to assist in its subsequent acceleration.2020 Evoque 4

The new Evoque also boasts technologies that we first saw on Range Rovers Discovery Vision concept vehicle. ClearSight Ground View, for example, is based on the Vision’s “transparent bonnet” idea. It uses cameras in the front grille and sideview mirrors to give the driver an 180-degree view of what’s under the front end of the Evoque. Remember folks, always check your undercarriage for cats and other furry stowaways during the winter months.

What’s more, the rear facing camera above the back window doesn’t push its video feed to the console-mounted 12.3-inch infotainment system. Instead it sends it directly to the rearview mirror, which is actually an HD video screen.

Increase the MSRP a little—cars starting in the mid 30s, say—and it’s hard to find a clear winner because we’re spoiled for choice. And now that choice is a little harder thanks to this: the new Volvo S60.

This is Volvo’s first American-made car, built at a new plant in Charleston, South Carolina. And it’s the latest car to use Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture, the toolkit that also gave us the XC60 SUV, plus the bigger S90 sedan, V90 wagon, and XC90 SUV. We’ve been quite taken with each of the previous SPA Volvos we’ve tested; they’ve looked good, felt well-screwed together, and the Sensus infotainment system is better than most. As a rule, I prefer smaller vehicles to larger ones and cars to SUVs, so the S60 (and the new V60 wagon which you can read about tomorrow) have been the SPA cars I’ve been waiting for.
