  • Ukraine has pushed a massive counteroffensive in the country's northeast and southern regions.
  • The advancement has forced Russian soldiers to flee their positions, some even in civilian clothes.
  • Some Ukrainian troops say they've been overwhelmed by how much ammo and weaponry was left behind.

Ukrainian forces are staging a lightning-fast counteroffensive in the northeast near Kharkiv, and Russian troops are rapidly fleeing from their positions as the Ukrainian military liberates previously occupied territory. 

The speed of the offensive — which gained momentum last week and saw significant breakthroughs over the weekend — and how quickly Russian lines crumbled have surprised both sides in this bloody conflict. 

Russian troops who recently fled from the front lines left behind so much weaponry and ammunition that Ukraine has struggled to handle it all, an unidentified Ukrainian soldier from an intelligence unit told The Telegraph recently.

"They left a huge amount of vehicles and ammunition. We couldn't transfer or evacuate it all to our rear," a Ukrainian commander, whose call sign is Birdie, told the paper.  

Ukraine's defense ministry posted a tweet on Sunday with a video that purported to show a litany of abandoned Russian military vehicles. In the video, the caption read: "Everyone gets a tank. F..ck there is enough tanks for everyone. What a bonus."  

"Russia is trying to maintain its status as the largest supplier of military equipment for the Ukrainian army, and even to improve its status, knowing that lend-lease will soon come into effect. #UAarmy loves its trophy ammo," the tweet read. 

Over the last two weeks, Ukrainian forces have launched counteroffensives in the country's northeast and southern regions in an attempt to reclaim territory occupied by Russian forces for much of the war. 

British intelligence said on Monday that Ukrainian advances have forced Russia to withdraw troops from large chunks of the northeast Kharkiv region, where Ukraine's second-largest city is located, and Russian troops have been forced to take "emergency defensive actions."  

In fleeing their positions, Russian troops have reportedly put on civilian clothes to escape capture as they run from the front lines and even stolen bicycles and vehicles from locals so they can evade Ukrainian drones.  

Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces said in a Monday update that its troops continue to liberate settlements in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, forcing Russians to "quickly abandon their positions and flee." It added that "the occupiers have taken away property and vehicles looted from local residents." 

During a speech on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that since the start of September his military has liberated around 1,250 square miles of territory formerly occupied by Russian troops. 

"These days, the Russian army is showing its best — showing its back," he said. "And, in the end, it is a good choice for them to run away. There is and will be no place for the occupiers in Ukraine."

The Red Devils came from 2-0 down on Tuesday evening to draw with Burnley.

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood netted for the Clarets before Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof saved Solskjaer’s blushes.

Pogba, who has been on fire under Solskjaer, fired home from the penalty spot before Lindelof’s 92nd minute equaliser.

And while Solskjaer insisted Manchester United didn’t deserve to lose against Burnley, the Red Devils boss claimed his side were too slow with the ball.

He said: “The comeback was brilliant, the players have been asked about how they would react if they went 1-0 or 2-0 down so I felt the comeback was fantastic.

“We had loads of chances, loads of possession, we didn’t deserve to lose. But we did it to ourselves really.

“We fought, that wasn’t the problem. We were just too slow in possession in the first half.

“For the first goal we played our way into trouble.

“It wasn’t the attitude, the application was too slow and the tempo on the ball wasn’t good enough. But the reaction was good.

“We disappointed ourselves and we disappointed the crowd today, but the ones who stayed had a typical Old Trafford finish to the game so that was a big plus.”

United are now two points behind Arsenal in fifth following their draw with Burnley.

The Gunners edged past Cardiff in a 2-1 win at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

And United star Pogba has urged his team-mates to up their game.

“We have to learn from our mistakes and next time start the game differently,” he said.

“Like the manager said, you have to start strong and be aggressive because that’s what they were in the first half.

“We played like we were winning 1-0 or 2-0, that’s where we went wrong.

“The comeback was positive but the result was disappointing.

“The reaction was good, we didn’t lose, but we dropped two points we could have won.”

United are back in action on Sunday afternoon against Leicester in the Premier League.

Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce exited Saturday’s Wild Card game after a helmet-to-helmet hit with Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien.

The hit occurred in the final seconds of the first half of the game after Kelce caught a ball from Alex Smith. Cyprien came in to finish the tackle, but lowered his helmet and caught Kelce with his head down, leaving him dazed and wobbly as he was helped to his feet by teammates. No flag was thrown on the play.

Kelce was diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out for the rest of the game.

A key part of the Chiefs offense, Kelce had 1,038 yards and eight touchdowns for Kansas City through the regular season. His health will likely be a major factor should the Chiefs hope to continue their playoff run.

  • People noticed that President Donald Trump may have been struggling towards the end of a big speech on Israel Wednesday afternoon.

As President Donald Trump ended his big speech on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announcing the US would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, people pointed out that he appeared to be struggling to deliver his final words.

“Thank you, God bless you, God bless Israel, God bless the Palestinians, and God bless the United States,” Trump said.

Trump noticeably slurred the final words and people started to theorize that he may have been wearing dentures or some other form of dental prosthetics.

If it was dentures, fine, no big deal. It’s completely normal for a man of Trump’s age to have dentures. Nothing to be embarrassed about. 1/

Does he wear dentures? I’ve never seen a reference to that.

When asked about Trump’s apparent verbal slip, a White House spokesperson told the media outlet Quartz that Trump had a case of “dry mouth.” It was not immediately clear whether the president wears dentures or a similar orthodontic device.

Trump has frequently touted his health throughout his campaign and presidency, and producing a letter signed by his personal physician of 35 years to prove his point. It is unclear whether Trump will publicize his yearly physicals as president, as his predecessors have done.

The US show, which is set to return to television screens later this month, will see the star reprise his role as the FBI Special Agent. 

But he has admitted to Radio Times that he struggled to “get back into [Dale’s] skin” as he prepared for the revival of the series created by Mark Frost and David Lynch. 

The show premiered on ABC in 1990 and now at the age of 58, Kyle said it was much harder than he expected to jump back into character. 

“It didn’t come straightaway,” he confessed to the publication. “I had to feel my way into it and rely on David’s outside eyes on the character more than I thought I would, actually.

“I needed a bit of help to get back into his skin.”

His reaction to reprising his role was very different to the first time around when he claims, “Dale just came straight off the page”.

“I think the thing that I seized on was Agent Cooper’s boyish enthusiasm,” Kyle explained. “The moments he comes alive for certain flavours and smells.

“I’ll also admit that I channeled a little bit of David Lynch’s manner in the character.”

Kyle added that while he may have struggled to return to his character, Dale is very much just as boyish as he was in the first run. 

His comments come after Twin Peaks fans took a trip down memory lane when . 

One clip shows Dale in the infamous scene where he smashes his head against a mirror before cutting to him in the present day next to the Twin Peaks sign. 

Meanwhile, the second cryptic trailer revisits the scene when the victim Laura Palmer’s body is unwrapped.
