When it comes to losing the video games, the sportsman said he “wouldn’t get angry” and didn’t know what Morgan was hinting towards when he suggested the cricketer might get annoyed if he was beaten. Speaking about his mindset of the pitch and wanting to win, the sportsman said: “I got rid of the ‘this is how I play’ excuse massively. “In terms of always looking to be aggressive or attacking. When I realised that was just an excuse for when failures happen, I was never going to learn from it. “Once I got rid of that, I had more understanding of the game situation and when I need to change the way I play in terms of sometimes being a little bit more defensive because, in the long term, that could be better for the team,” he told talkSport. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV. US Vice President Mike Pence has said all sanctions and maximum pressure will remain on North Korea despite the announcement that President Donald Trump will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for talks by May. In a statement posted on Twitter on Friday, Pence said North Korea’s willingness to meet and its denuclearization tendency “is evidence that Trump’s strategy to isolate the Kim regime is working.” He said the White House had made “zero concessions” and that all sanctions remain in place and “maximum pressure will continue.” The statement flies in the faces of efforts to promote dialogue between the rogue nation and Washington. It follows the announcement on Thursday that President Donald Trump accepted an invitation to meet with Kim Jong-un, after Kim agreed to halt further nuclear tests, according to South Korean officials. Kim told Seoul that he is committed to denuclearization, according to a statement made at the White House by Chung Eui-yong, South Korea’s national security office chief. According to Trump, a key objective of the meeting will be the achievement of permanent denuclearization of North Korea. The time and location of the meeting is yet to be determined. Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time. Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) 9 March 2018 The decision to meet comes after Trump announced the ‘largest-ever’ package of sanctions on North Korea in February. New sanctions were applied against 50 vessels, shipping companies and trade businesses in a bid to intensify pressure on North Korea over its nuclear and ballistic missile tests North Korea’s decision to meet represents a significant shift in Pyongyang’s stance. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea in February North Korean officials allegedly refused to meet with US Vice President Mike Pence amid US threats of sanctions. Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service announced on Tuesday morning (EST) that the England all-rounder had been charged following an incident outside a Bristol nightclub in September.
Stokes and two other men are due to appear before Bristol Magistrates’ Court at a date to be fixed.
The 26-year-old has not played for England since the incident outside a nightclub, missing out on the Ashes tour to Australia. He did play in six domestic matches in New Zealand in December.
CHAPPELL WORLD X1: Stokes gets prominent role
The England and Wales Cricket Board has also given Stokes permission to play in the Indian Premier League, which starts in April.
He posted on Twitter that he was ‘keen to have an opportunity’ to clear his name.
“I gave a full and detailed account of my actions to the police on day one – the same day as the incident – and have cooperated at each step of the police inquiry,” he added.
“The CPS’ decision … at least means that my account of what happened that night can come out in court and be made public.”
Stokes was named last week in England’s Twenty20 squad for the tri-series against Australia and New Zealand next month but his participation was dependent on whether he was charged.
“ECB is aware that Ben Stokes has been charged with affray in relation to an incident in Bristol in September,” an ECB spokesperson said.
“The Board will now convene within 48 hours to decide on Ben Stokes’ availability to represent England at this stage.
“A further announcement will be made in due course.”
Stokes was bought for $ 2.9 million (£1.7m) last year when he turned out for Rising Pune Supergiants in the auction, thesun.co.uk reports.
And the all-rounder could receive even more when he goes up for grabs in the latest IPL auction later this money with the salary cap increased by 20 per cent.
Stokes, 26, is still suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board following an alleged assault on a night out in Bristol last year.
But the ECB have given permission for the Durham star to be in the list of players available to compete in this year’s competition in India.
It means Stokes could find himself as one of the highest paid players in the IPL while still being unable to take part in international cricket.
The ECB imposed a suspension on the player in September after it emerged he was involved in a fight while on a night out with England teammates.
It meant the all-rounder was unable to be part of the Ashes squad currently touring Australia while police investigated the incident.
Officers have now passed on the file to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether he will face any charges following the bust-up, which left him with a broken hand.
The ECB will only meet to decide on their stance going forward when the CPS make their decision, which is expected to be later this month.
There had been a hope the situation would resolve itself in time for the player to link up with the England squad in time for the third Ashes Test.
But with the delay in deciding if any criminal charges would be made, there was no chance of him being able to board a plane to Australia.
Instead, Stokes opted to take advantage of his downtime by flying out to New Zealand to visit his family while on a short-term deal with Canterbury.
Stokes played six matches during his stint with the side, although his form showed he was still rusty following his enforced lay-off.
The ECB also announced Stokes has been replaced by Dawid Malan in England’s one-day international squad to face Australia in the five-match series beginning January 14.
Skysports.com reports Stokes was named in England’s squad for the series last month, even though he remains unavailable for international selection while he waits to see if he will be charged with causing actual bodily harm following the famous fracas outside a Bristol nightclub in September.
Malan is uncapped in ODI cricket but made a fine impression on his Twenty20 debut last summer and has since gone on to establish himself in England’s Test team — including with a maiden century in the third Ashes Test in Perth.
England’s squad for the Twenty20 tri-series, starting on February 3 against Australia and New Zealand, will be confirmed next week, with the squad for the spring Test series against New Zealand announced after the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney, which gets underway on Thursday.

Stokes is currently banned over his arrest on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm in a late-night brawl outside a nightclub in Bristol.
But the ECB appear to be softening their stance, with the police expected to announce this week whether Stokes will be charged.
The 26-year-old all-rounder has stayed at home while the rest of the England squad are in Australia preparing for the first Ashes Test, which starts in Brisbane on November 23.
Stokes is waiting to hear if he will be charged after over the late-night fracas in Bristol on September 25, with a decision expected this week.
If he is not charged by the police then the ECB’s disciplinary process will kick in.
And the ECB have opened the door to the Durham star making an amazing return to the team by saying he could “rehabilitate his reputation on the field”.
ECB Tom Harrison said: “We have to get that balance between censure and support absolutely right.
“Cricket’s response to this will show the value of the game in the best light.
“We will quickly recover to where the game is seen as doing its best to rehabilitate reputations on the field, and try to get Ben and Alex [Hales] back to where fans are really behind them.”
Stokes, who fractured the little finger of his right hand during the incident in Bristol, is training at indoor nets in case he is given a dramatic recall.
Vice-captain Stokes was initially named in England’s 16-man touring squad for the Test series, but was replaced by Steven Finn after The Sun’s exclusive video showed Stokes in a brawl.
Former Australia bowler Glenn McGrath said England will miss their “enforcer” if they are without Stokes for the entire tour.
“He’s an incredible player — he fills two spots in one,” Test Match Special pundit McGrath told BBC Radio 5 live.
“If he doesn’t come out, that’s a big loss to England. But he’s vice-captain, he can’t put himself in those positions. He’s got to realise that.
“He’s an enforcer within the team and that’s fine on the field as long as it stays there.

“Who would be the enforcer in his shoes?”
Meanwhile, England fast bowler Stuart Broad said Stokes will still be an influence on the squad, even if he does not travel to Australia.
“We’ve still got his character within the group,” Broad said.
“We’ve still got his characteristics of competitive sport, of arm round people that he’s done for years still in this group.
“Without sounding cheesy Ben Stokes is still here, we’ve still got part of him in this group whether he’s in Australia or not.”
England reached 278 for 8 on the opening day of their day-night warm-up game in Adelaide against a Cricket Australia XI.
The wicketkeeper-batsman is one of the key players in the line-up whether or not Stokes is ruled out as a result of his Bristol brawl.
But Bairstow believes the tourists still have plenty more capable of turning a match on its head with a moment of genius.
“We have guys with a wealth of knowledge and experience who can do that with both bat and ball,” he said. “People who can change the game in a session whether with a spell or a fantastic catch or with runs.
“We know that we are going to turn up on November 23 and it is going to be a challenge, but life is full of them and we are excited about it and ready for it.”
They had better be, with Australia opener David Warner likening the series to a “war” and saying the hosts would work up some “hatred” for their opponents to get in the right frame of mind.
“As soon as you step on that line it’s war,” Warner said. “You try and get into a battle as quick as you can. I try and look in the opposition’s eyes and try and work out, ‘How can I dislike this player. How can I get on top of him?’
“You have to delve and dig deep into yourself to actually get some hatred about them to actually get up when you’re out there. History is a big part in this and that is what carries us onto the ground.”
Joe Root’s squad depart in 12 days time without Stokes, who is awaiting the verdict of police investigation into events surrounding his arrest in Bristol on September 25.
And Bairstow admits that a difficult build-up has made him even more determined to grab his own chance to shine this winter.
“You never know what’s round the corner do you? You don’t know what’s going to happen,” he said. “It can be taken away from you so quickly. Something you have worked so hard for over such a long period of time can be whisked away from you within a heartbeat.”
Those words were not spoken about Stokes for all that they will resonate with his situation. Bairstow was in fact talking about both his father David’s suicide when he was an eight-year-old after a battle against depression, and the end of his close friend James Taylor’s career due to a heart problem.
Bairstow has opened up about both and much more in a painfully honest autobiography A Clear Blue Sky, which is out later this week.
He feels telling the story of a painful chapter in his life and how his family came through it has been a largely positive experience.
“At no point did we want people to feel sorry; it was more a case of this is what happened, this is how we dealt with it, and we move forward,” he said.
“It is pretty much the first time I have talked about it apart from privately. It was difficult but at the same time, things that have come from it have been a positive.
“Why have I told it now? Well there was an opportunity to try and have an impact on young kids and people of any age whether they have been through adversity or not.”
Bairstow has produced a book which is as much homage to his father, who took his own life in January 1998, as it is heartfelt tribute to his mother Janet, who was battling cancer when David took his life, and the way she coped.
“That was one of the major things of me doing it was actually how mum effectively brought us up through going through a heck of a lot of things herself,” he said.
“That should serve to give people a huge amount of admiration for what she has done and how she went about it.”
It is an attitude that will stand England in good stead this winter as they seek to land only the second Ashes win in Australia in the 28-year-old Bairstow’s lifetime.
“It is just another challenge. There are plenty in life that you don’t solve straight away but you keep trying don’t you?”
A Clear Blue Sky by Jonny Bairstow and Duncan Hamilton is published by Harper Collins and on sale on Thursday.
Stokes and Alex Hales, who was with the Durham all-rounder last Sunday night, have been suspended indefinitely on full pay while the police investigate the incident.
Steven Finn will replace Stokes in the squad initially although “no final decision has been taken on his involvement in Australia”.
“England Selectors have added Steven Finn to the squad for the Ashes Tests, in light of the on-going investigation by Avon & Somerset Police, the Cricket Discipline Commission process and all other considerations,” an ECB statement said.
“Finn will travel to Australia with the England Test team for the full five-match Ashes series.”
England’s director of cricket Andrew Strauss said: “With the Ashes just around the corner, it’s important to give the players, the coaching staff and supporters some clarity around a complex situation.
“This decision will help us in the weeks ahead and give every player and the whole England set-up the best chance to focus on the challenge ahead in Australia.
“Steven is a high-quality cricketer, with considerable experience of both international cricket and Australian conditions.
“The selectors believe he will add to the range of options and the squad will be further supported by the arrival of the Lions in Australia in November.
“We have spoken to Ben and assured him that our decision in no way prejudges the outcome of the ongoing police investigation or Cricket Discipline Commission process, as can be seen by the award of Central Contracts.”
The list of central contracts was due to be released on Wednesday but was delayed by 48 hours in light of recent disciplinary problems.
According to an ECB statement, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball and Liam Plunkett have each accepted a formal written warning and fine for unprofessional conduct – unrelated to the investigations into Ben Stokes and Alex Hales – with undisclosed sums paid equally to the PCA Benevolent Fund and the Hornsby Professional Cricketers’ Fund.
“The internal investigation and process for this matter has now concluded and no further comment will be made,” the statement added.
But all five men feature in some form on the list of players handed contracts by the ECB.
Bairstow, Stokes, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Joe Root and Chris Woakes have all been given Test contracts.
Hales meanwhile has been retained on his white-ball contract along with Stokes and a host of others: Moeen Ali, Jake Ball, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan, Liam Plunkett, Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. There is also an incremental deal for Toby Roland-Jones.
“On these, I would like to congratulate all of those who have received England contracts for 2017/18, ahead of a busy year of international cricket,” Strauss added.
Once England arrive in Australia later this month, they will play three warm-up matches in which the third seamer’s slot and the middle order batting places will be up for grabs.
The first Test will then get underway in Brisbane on November 23.
Events outside the Mbargo nightclub in Bristol on Monday night could have a similarly transformative effect.
Ben Stokes has already been given the cold shoulder by England and now the heat will be on his sponsors after a week that has forever tarnished the reputation of one of world cricket’s biggest stars.
One leading sports marketing figure, Tim Wright, the former head of IMG in India, believes that Stokes’ actions on Monday night – regardless of what prompted them – could cost him as much as £30m over the course of his career.
And that could ultimately prove to be a conservative estimate.
When news of Tiger Woods’ infidelity scandal broke back in 2009, the world’s then number one golfer lost $ 22m of sponsorship in a single year as Gatorade, AT&T and Accenture fled to the hills.
In perhaps the most dramatic example of what can happen to a sportsman’s fortunes, Lance Armstrong lost eight sponsors in just 12 hours in 2012 following the publication of a damning doping report. It’s estimated that Armstrong lost $ 150m in future earnings as a result of his actions.
The video of Stokes’ brawling left the ECB with no choice but to take immediate action against him. Within 24 hours, similarly disgraceful footage of Stokes mimicking Katie Price’s disabled son did further damage.
“Professional sports people tend to try and keep a relatively clean nose,” says Rob Wilson, sports finance expert at Sheffield Hallam University. “They try and link playing success to the brand. Little misdemeanours can be glossed over but this is something else entirely, this is a pretty toxic situation.
“England’s sponsors could also put pressure on the ECB to think twice about picking him in the future because of what has happened.”
His behaviour won’t have gone unnoticed in India, where he earned £1.7m for two months work in last season’s IPL.
He could have expected to at least match that figure in the 2018 auction after being named the tournament’s most valuable player in his first season.
One former IPL coach has told Express Sport that it would now take a brave franchise to sign him, regardless of the fee, after the events of last week.
In the short term, though, the question isn’t how much he’s worth. The question is whether he’ll ever play for his country again.
