3232Manifest Boss: Stolen [Spoiler] Will Stoke Conspiracy Theories — Plus, Will Ben's Rival for Grace Fight Back?
https://briefnews.eu/manifest-boss-stolen-spoiler-will-stoke-conspiracy-theories-plus-will-bens-rival-for-grace-fight-back/
https://briefnews.eu/manifest-boss-stolen-spoiler-will-stoke-conspiracy-theories-plus-will-bens-rival-for-grace-fight-back/#respondTue, 09 Oct 2018 08:58:24 +0000http://briefnews.eu/manifest-boss-stolen-spoiler-will-stoke-conspiracy-theories-plus-will-bens-rival-for-grace-fight-back/It was one (literally) microscopic step forward for Manifest‘s mystery-solving team, and then a corpse-sized step back, as Episode 3 of the freshman NBC hit came to a close.
Just as medical researcher Saanvi revealed to Ben and Michaela that she and Cal possess a genetic marker that was not there before the fateful Flight 828 — one that suggested they all had suffered the equivalent “strokes” aboard the plane — the puzzle piece they needed to follow up on their theories went missing. The corpse of Kelly Taylor, the passenger who heeded a “calling” to go on TV and “own her truth,” has disappeared from the morgue and was last seen being lugged into a secret facility by comms-wearing, suit-and-tied government-looking types.
After moderating the Manifest panel at this weekend’s New York Comic Con, I invited showrunner Jeff Rake to break down the latest twists — including the reveal of Grace’s new-ish love.
TVLINE | What are Ben, Michaela and Saanvi’s next steps in the wake of Kelly Taylor’s corpse being stolen? When they figure out that this body is missing, it just fuels the fires of their suspicion, that the government is at the least going to be incredibly intrusive in their lives going forward, but at the most that there is greater government involvement. That stokes some conspiracy theories that will exist among the community of passengers going all the way through [Episode] 13. What we’ll come to discover is that while the government involvement is not exactly as they predict it will be, there is in fact subversive activity going on that will present an increasing threat to them.
TVLINE | Are we to assume those were NSA Special Agent Vance’s men stealing the body? We’re led to believe that it is Vance’s people, but I’m not going to commit to that, because it may turn out to be far from the case.
TVLINE | How intimate an adversary will Vance become? Is he the Tommy Lee Jones to their Harrison Ford? I love that — when I think about Vance, I think about Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford, I think about Peter Coyote in E.T. He is a formidable adversary but he is not a villain. We’re going to come to understand the humanity of Vance even as he probes deeper into the conspiracy.
TVLINE | Despite Grace’s reassurances to Ben, is her boyfriend Danny (to be played by Graceland‘s Daniel Sunjata) not going to go away quietly? Danny is not going to go away quietly — and why would he? As far as he is concerned, he has been in a legitimate relationship, he’s in love with someone who loves him…. This couple has been together for three years, and they’re a family unit. What I’ve always talked about in regards to these relationships is this is “infidelity without moral culpability.” Danny can’t be blamed for the current dilemma any more than anyone else can. Danny is going to feel that he has a legitimate claim to not only the woman he fell in love with, but also to the daughter he developed an important relationship with.
TVLINE | Speaking of the passengers’ “lost time,” why five-and-a-half years and not 10? Five-and-a-half years felt to me like enough time for everything to have changed, but not so long that you couldn’t restore what you once had. A decade felt to me like a bridge too far, like you could never recover. Five-and-a-half in my mind symbolizes just a notch over the tipping point for what you may not be able to reclaim — but not so much that you wouldn’t keep fighting to get back what you once had.
TVLINE | And an even five years, that might come across as too much an element of the larger mystery? Maybe so. In the real world, when weird things happen, it rarely has to do with something that’s perfectly neat. There’s always something that’s a bit off about it. Five-and-a-half felt real to me, like something we can wrap our heads around and go, “Yeah that sounds right.”

Liverpool thought they deserved a spot kick in the dying stages of their 0-0 draw with Stoke.
A Georginio Wijnaldum cross struck the arm of Erik Pieters, deflecting the ball away from Roberto Firmino.
The referee waved away the appeals as Stoke held on for a crucial point in their relegation battle.
And Henderson was left in disbelief over the decision.
“For me it looked a pen, a clear one,” the Reds captain said.
“I said a few time in games like this, maybe in the Champions League against Manchester City we were lucky, in the Premier League, not one time.
“We should have got more penalties, we don’t have them.”
But Lambert, whose side is now just four points off safety, had a totally opposite opinion.
“Listen if that is a penalty we may as well all just have left,” the manager said.
“It is never a penalty.
“You can understand Jurgen’s frustration about it but it’s no penalty.”
Liverpool’s point sees them move to within two of second-place Manchester United.

Arsenal vs Stoke LIVE updates: Premier League latest score
Arsenal host struggling Stoke and head into the weekend 13 points adrift of north London rivals Tottenham, who currently occupy fourth spot.
Arsene Wenger’s side missed out on Champions League football as they finished fifth last year and a return to the top four seems all-but impossible given the current gap and the fact there are a maximum of 24 points to play for.
Instead, the Gunners could secure a return to the Champions League by following the route of Manchester United last season.
Stoke are desperate for points down the other end of the table but have lost on all nine previous visits to the Emirates.

Arsenal should have Jack Wilshere fit and available. Wilshere missed both England friendlies with a knee problem but is expected to be in contention to keep his place in the Arsenal midfield. Alexandre Lacazette (knee) is also ready to return having been sidelined since February 10, while Santi Cazorla (Achilles) is a long-term absentee.
Stoke could welcome back forward Mame Biram Diouf. He has missed the last two matches with a shoulder problem but is expected to return along with defender Erik Pieters, who was fined and left out of the squad for the defeat by Everton two weeks ago after breaking a curfew. Midfielder Charlie Adam begins a three-match ban following his red card against Everton while forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is expected to be sidelined for several weeks by a groin problem. Ibrahim Afellay has been banished from the squad by manager Paul Lambert.

Manchester City were beaten for only the fourth time in 46 matches in all competitions in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Basel on Wednesday.
But the runaway Premier League leaders will be looking to bounce back against relegation-threatened Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium tonight.
The Potters are 19th in the table, a point adrift of safety while the visitors could move a whopping 16 points ahead of rivals Manchester United.
There’s an interesting subplot surrounding tonight’s showdown with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher suspended from his role on Monday Night Football after video footage emerged of him spitting towards a girl in a car.

EVENING
18:50: Good evening everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Stoke vs Manchester City from the artfully named Bet365 Stadium.
The Cheltenham Festival gets underway tomorrow, and tonight’s contest pits the best and most expensive horse in training against something akin to a three-legged donkey.
OK, that’s a bit harsh but Pep Guardiola’s side won at a canter the last time these sides met winning 7-2 in October.
We’ll also be checking in on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football to see if there’s any reaction to Jamie Carragher being suspended.
It’s a packed evening, so let’s get going!
STOKE vs MANCHESTER CITY
Stoke forward Mame Diouf is set to miss out due to the shoulder injury he sustained last weekend at Southampton.
Defender Kevin Wimmer and striker Saido Berahino, who have been placed on programmes to improve their fitness levels, could return to the matchday squad after missing the last six and two games respectively.
Midfielder Stephen Ireland (calf) is not yet ready to make his comeback, and goalkeeper Lee Grant (broken wrist) also remains sidelined.
Manchester City playmaker David Silva returns after missing the midweek Champions League clash against Basel for personal reasons. Forward Raheem Sterling and midfielder Fernandinho are both hoping to prove their fitness after returning to training following hamstring injuries.
Left-back Fabian Delph is available again after suspension but could be doubtful after suffering a knock. Benjamin Mendy (knee) is also back in training and could return in the next month.

*Only Manchester City have a better shot conversion rate than Leicester City in the Premier League this season.
*Leicester have lost only one of their seven previous Premier League matches against Stoke – losing 1-0 at the King Power Stadium in January 2015.
*Stoke have won just twice in their last 29 visits away to Leicester in all competitions, with both victories arriving in their last 10 trips.

RELEGATION SCRAP
12:00: I don’t want to pile the misery on Stoke fans, but I’m gunna.
Stoke have registered only one victory since Christmas and have scored just five times in those eight Premier League games.
Lambert is seeking some attacking firepower ahead of the trip to Leicester, where he will be without 37-year-old Peter Crouch due to injury.
That’s led to a senior call-up for teenage striker Tyrese Campbell, the son of ex-Arsenal and Everton forward Kevin Campbell, after his hat-trick for the under-23s last weekend piqued Lambert’s interest.

Well-taken goals from Antonio Valencia, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku gave them a comfortable win and cut Manchester City’s lead at the top of the table to 12 points.
And it also underlined the task facing new Stoke manager Paul Lambert whose new charges have shipped 10 goals on their two visits to Manchester this season as well as five at Tottenham and Chelsea.
United made sure it will not be easy for boss Jose Mourinho to fit Sanchez into his team – if he does sign the Chilean – with an upbeat performance, although Stoke gave them some anxious moments.
The freezing rain and icy temperatures must have been a shock to their systems after their warm weather training break in Dubai but a third victory without conceding a goal is an encouraging start to 2018 – with surely better to come, if and when when Sanchez arrives.
City looked uncatchable but all United can do is keep winning in the hope that their neighbours slip.
Lambert watched his new team from the VIP box, leaving caretaker Eddie Niedzwiecki in charge for the game.
It looked a wise choice. If he had taken a look at the Potters’ recent record at Old Trafford he would not have been too hopeful of seeing a victory.
They had lost 15 of their previous 17 trips – and their last win was back in 1976.
So it was no great surprise that United forged ahead after nine minutes. The bigger shock was that the goal came from the left foot of Valencia.
The United skipper normally uses his left peg just to stand on, but he applied power and bend to fire a shot from the edge of the area into the far corner of Jack Butland’s net after cutting inside Josh Tymon.
It was the perfect way to mark his return to the team after six games out with a hamstring injury. And it was an eye-catching finish to a clever build-up by United involving Luke Shaw, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba.
But Lambert would have been pleased by Stoke’s response.
Xherdan Shaqiri tested David De Gea with an acrobatic scissors kick and Stephen Ireland twice fired wide from good openings, especially the second one when he was set up by Shaqiri.
The best chance fell to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting however.
He looked certain to score when Peter Crouch beat De Gea to head down Moritz Bauer’s cross but Choupo-Moting’s goalbound effort took a deflection off Chris Smalling just as Stoke prepared to celebrate an equaliser.
But Martial eased Manchester United’s anxieties by adding a superb second after 38 minutes.
Pogba was again the provider squaring the ball across the edge of the penalty area for his France compatriot to drive a first-time shot past Butland – and in the process become the third United player to reach double figures for goals this season, after Lukaku and Jesse Lingard.
Stoke must have wondered what had hit them because they had played well.
They finished the half on an upbeat note though with the lively Shaqiri forcing a fine save out of De Gea, who dived full length across his goal to tip round a low shot.
Martial was a constant menace with his pace and skill. And when he wriggled his way through, he looked certain to score his second for the night but Butland dived bravely at his feet.
That would have pleased Gareth Southgate who was in attendance to watch the Stoke keeper plus the United quartet of Shaw, Smalling, Jones and Lingard.
The England manager would have been impressed by all of them as he ponders his squad for the World Cup this summer.
United should have had a second when Lingard unselfishly set up Mata but the Spaniard curled his shot beyond the far post.
Lingard is on a hot streak for goals and probably should have a go himself.
And he showed his frustration by getting booked moments later for a foul on former United team-mate Darren Fletcher.
Mata, set up again by Lingard, wasted another chance when he fired over. Moments later he did flick the ball home, but was flagged offside – before Lukaku did indeed add United’s third goal 18 minutes from time with an assist by Martial.
MAN UTD (4-2-3-1): De Gea 7; Valencia 7, Jones 7, Smalling 7, Shaw 7; Matic 7, Pogba 8; Mata 7) McTominay 83), Lingard 7 (Fellaini), Martial 7 (Rashford 80); Lukaku 8. Booked: Lingard, Lukaku.
Goals: Valencia 10, Martial 37, Lukaku 73. NEXT UP: Burnley (a), Sat PL.

SANCHEZ TO CHELSEA?
65: OK, here’s our reporter Dan Gibbs with the latest twist in the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga.
Chelsea are ready to throw a spanner in the works by making a late bid for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
A deal looks to be edging closer for Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester United with reports in France claiming the Gunners have accepted an offer.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also expected to move in the opposite direction.
However, Express Sport understands Chelsea have now entered the race late on for the Chilean and are ready to make a late bid.
Antonio Conte is desperate to ad attacking firepower to his squad this month following Alvaro Morata’s struggles in front of goal.
63: Not sure how it’s not 3-0. Pogba finds Martial in the penalty area but his first touch takes it away from him and Butland gathers.

54: Debutant Moritz Bauer has nine lives. Referee Anthony Taylor’s had several chances to book him but again decides to keep his cards in his pocket as he drags down Jesse Lingard.
51: No real change in the pattern of play folks. Stoke are putting together some nice bits and pieces but it’s not really causing United too much bother.

MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 STOKE – MARTIAL
39: That’s a beautiful goal from Anthony Martial. Who on earth would consider letting him join Arsenal for Alexis Sanchez?!
The winger cuts inside to meet Paul Pogba’s perfectly-weighted pass and sends a sensational strike into the top corner.
38: Liquid. Pogba plays a delightful crossfield pass to Martial, but his effort is blocked. Shaqiri breaks down the right and sends a decent bad across the box that De Gea collects.
35: Penalty appeal! Juan Mata hits the deck under pressure from Martins Indi, but he’s clearly slipped. In fairness, the Spaniard wasn’t asking for a spot-kick and said that he slipped. Gent. Referee Anthony Taylor agrees and doesn’t book him for diving.
33: These are the situations that Manchester United haven’t been capitalising on recently. They need to grab a second or third to put this to bed because Stoke look capable of scoring.

30: Romelu Lukaku running the yards?! Doesn’t sound right! The Belgian does some excellent work to track back, steal the ball and send a fantastic cross into the six-yard box that Jesse Lingard narrowly misses.
27: I sound like I’m in the Steven Ireland fan club, but he’s having a blinder so far. The midfielder makes a good run through the middle to win a free-kick for his side.
Close! Peter Crouch rises highest to knock a looping cross down to Choupo-Moting, whose goal-bound effort is heroically blocked on the line by Phil Jones. Inches from 1-1.
24: Such complacency from manchester United. Steven Ireland, for the second time tonight, waltzes into the area completely unmarked and strikes narrowly wide of the post. He really should have scored one of those two chances. I guess that’s what 996 days without a Premier League start does to you.
21: Danger! Jesse Lingard wins a free-kick just outside the Stoke penalty area, but Juan Mata blasts it straight into the wall.
20: Peter Crouch and Steve Ireland roll back the years with a nice passage of play that results in the midfielder dragging one wide of the post.
17: Sorry to bring the tone down, but I love this tweet. “Always felt that Antonio Valencia is a bloody good lad. If he wanted to take my mum out for a fish supper I’d have no complaints. He’d treat her right.”

MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 STOKE
Analysis from our reporter Richard Tanner, at Old Trafford.
16: No great surprise then that United are ahead after only 10 minutes with something of a collectors item a goal from Antonio Valencia’s left foot.
The Ecuadorian’s left peg is there for him to stand on, usually, but he pinged that one in with power and bend after cutting inside Josh Tymon.
Nice way to mark his return to the team after six games out with a hamstring. And a nice build-up by United involving Shaw, Mata and Pogba.
Shaqiri has tested De Gea with an acrobatic scissors kick, Stephen Ireland has fired wide and Stoke are playing the ball about with some assurance, despite United’s early lead.
12: Shaqiri connects with an acrobatic bicycle kick, but De Gea is equal to it as he gathers at the near post. That was pretty spectacular actually. The kind of effort I’d break my neck trying…
MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 STOKE – VALENCIA
10: What a hit, son!
Antonio Valencia is less then ten minutes in his return to the Manchester United starting XI, and he’s already banged in a cracker!
He receives a sidewards pass from Paul Pogba before cutting inside, driving forward and curling one into the top left-hand corner.

9: Penalty appeal! This is a tricky one. Debutant Moritz Bauer loses his footing and drags Antony Martial to the deck inside the area. It’s not stonewall but you’ve seen them given.
6: First signs of life from the hosts. Romelu Lukaku and Antony Martial play a neat one-two before Martins Indi manages to intercept. Stoke caretaker manager Eddie Niedzwiecki said the centre-back was carrying an injury tonight – looks alright to me!
3: Quite a confident start from the visitors, actually. They’ve kept possession nicely and haven’t allowed Manchester United to settle into their rhythm.

19:55: Quick reminder of those starting XI’s.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Valencia, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Lukaku, Martial.
Analysis from our reporter Richard Tanner, at Old Trafford.
19:50: New Stoke boss Paul Lambert has taken his seat early in the VIP box at Old Trafford and is peering out through the rain watching his new charges go through their warm-up. He is not officially in charge tonight – just on a watching brief.
But the Potters’ record at Old Trafford will not fill him with great hope – 15 defeats and two draws in their last 17 visits. the last time they won here was 1976 when Tommy Docherty was United’s boss.

HIDDEN AGENDA
19:48: I’ll confess that I have a horse in the race tonight… I have THREE Manchester United players in my Fantasy Football side, with Romelu Lukaku as captain. I need all the points I can get to claw my way off the bottom of the Express league!
‘CITY WON’T FIGHT UTD…’
19:45: OK, last transfer story for a few minutes. Apparently there’s a Premier League football match on tonight?
Anyway, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher thinks Manchester City aren’t prepared to battle it out with Manchester United over the signing of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
He explained: “I think with City looking like they’re walking away, I think it just boils down to the fact they thought they had a deal in the summer, Arsenal wouldn’t sell because they couldn’t get Thomas Lemar.
“’Okay we’ll do it in January’ and it’s almost done just waiting for the first or second of January to do it, and then out of nowhere Manchester United come in and the deal’s off.
“So I think that’s then put them off Sanchez and whether they’re prepared to get into a fight, an auction with Manchester United. It looks like they’re not.”

ALEXIS SANCHEZ TO UTD, MKHITARYAN TO ARSENAL
19:40: Here’s our reporter Dan Gibbs with the latest transfer gossip involving Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan…
Manchester United have won the race for Sanchez that will also see Mkhitaryan join Arsenal, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils have been battling Manchester City for the Chilean’s signature United have now seen off competition to sign him.
United will pay the Gunners £40m for Sanchez, who is out of contract in the summer, while Mkhitaryan will move to north London in the opposite direction.
United have offered Sanchez a long-term deal worth in excess of £300,000-a-week, plus a £35m signing on fee.
With Arsenal accepting Alexis Sanchez is United-bound they want a deal completed in the next 48 hours so they can focus on signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

996 DAYS!
19:35: Yep, it’s been 996 days since Steven Ireland started a Premier League game. Just the man to deal with Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial…
‘I WOULD LIE IF I SAID IT WAS TACTICAL…’
Analysis from our reporter Richard Tanner, at Old Trafford.
19:30: Mourinho has dropped a clear pre-match hint that Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be on his way out of Old Trafford in the proposed cash plus player exchange deal that looks set to bring Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford from Arsenal.
The Armenian international has not even made the United bench for tonight’s clash with Stoke.
And Mourinho said: “I would lie if I said it was a pure tactical decision. It was just a choice of the players that we know, in this moment, they have 100 per cent their heads in Manchester United.
“No doubts about the future. I don’t think it’s easy for a player to play when there are doubts about his future. It’s added pressure that a player doesn’t need, so I think it’s the best for him and for us, while the doubt is in the air, to protect him.”

Paddy: Stoke City spokesman: “We are delighted to welcome Paul Lambert to the club. Once we’d been turned down by Gary Rowett, Quique Sanchez Flores, Martin O’Neill, Robbie Williams, his good friend Jonathan Wilkes & Trevor from the canteen, we knew Paul was the right man for the job…”
Seamus: Henrikh Mkhitaryan is out of the Manchester United squad because his “head is not in it.” Jose Mourinho said that himself, so basically he’s part of the Alexis Sanchez deal!
Jason: No Sanchez yesterday, No Mkhitaryan today despite Mourinho saying he’d probably start. Could a swap deal actually be on the cards or is it one more coincidence to add to the disappointment?
LAMBERT APPOINTED…
19:20: I didn’t think there could be a less inspiring managerial appointment in the Premier League this season.
But Stoke have managed to pull off a stunning coup by naming Paul Lambert, who hasn’t managed in the top flight for three years, as Mark Hughes’ successor.
The 48-year-old, who has signed a two-and-half-year contract, has previously managed in the top flight with Norwich and Aston Villa and in the Championship with Blackburn and Wolves.
Bookmakers are so confident of his abilities that they’ve already paid out on Stoke to be relegated…

JOSE EXPLAINS…
19:15: Right, where’s Henrik Mkhitaryan?
Well, he arrived at Old Trafford with the rest of the Manchester United side, but he’s not involved tonight amid claims he’s close to joining Arsenal in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez going the other way.
Why? I’ll let Jose Mourinho explain.
Asked why the Armenia international wasn’t included in the squad, Mourinho said: “I would lie if I said it was a pure tactical decision.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs STOKE – PREVIEW
Antonio Valencia could return for Manchester United after a month out with a hamstring injury.
The converted right-back trained with Jose Mourinho’s team in Dubai this week along with Michael Carrick, who has not played since September having undergone a procedure to treat an irregular heart rhythm.
Ashley Young still has one match left to serve on his suspension while Eric Bailly (ankle) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (knee) are missing once again.
Stoke could have Erik Pieters (hamstring) and Bruno Martins Indi (groin) available after the Dutch pair returned to training this week.
It was hoped skipper and fellow defender Ryan Shawcross, recently sidelined by a calf problem, would also be involved in training ahead of the game. There may be a debut for right-back Moritz Bauer after his switch from Rubin Kazan.

Stoke vs West Ham in the Premier League was supposed to kick off at 3pm UK time.
But a power outage forced officials to delay the start until 4pm.
A Stoke statement read: “This afternoon’s game against West Ham United will kick-off at 4pm.”
The match got underway an hour late without any further problems.
West Ham have also confirmed that train tickets for fans travelling back to London are still valid for later times.
“Train operators via British Transport Police have confirmed tickets will be valid for the return journey on later trains,” they stated.
Stoke vs West Ham power cut: What happened?
Fans were entering the stadium when the lights suddenly went out.
“Kick off will be delayed due to a major power outage,” Stoke tweeted around 2.25pm.
“A power surge has affected both Club generators and the mains supply.
The lights then came on seconds before 3pm but neither team was ready to start the game.
Thousands of fans were left queueing outside the ground.
West Ham tweeted: “The power is back on at the Bet365 Stadium and supporters are coming in.”
Stoke are seeking only a second win in eight games when they host West Ham today.
Mark Hughes is under pressure to get results, with the Potters sitting 16th in the Premier League table.
Speaking ahead of today’s game, Hughes said: “I don’t do relegation. There are a lot of managers who have a badge of honour that they’ve never been relegated.
“I’ve never been relegated because I’m too busy trying to get in top 10s. I’ve never been near it so I’m not going to start now, am I?”
West Ham boss David Moyes, meanwhile, is yet to haul his side out of the bottom three since his arrival.
They beat Chelsea 1-0 last weekend and drew 0-0 against Arsenal in midweek.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth will remain in charge for tonight’s key clash against West Ham, with Big Sam due to be in the hotseat for the first time against Huddersfield on Saturday.

18:35: What’s NOT on should be the question!
Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all in action at the top of the table.
And there’s plenty happening at the bottom with a relegation (can I say that this early?) six-pointer between Everton and West Ham.
Perhaps we’ll see Sam Allardyce casting an eye over David Unsworth’s last game in charge. Hope he forgoes the pint of wine…
GOOD EVENING

STOKE vs LIVERPOOL – PREVIEW
Stoke’s Ramadan Sobhi is expected to be fit for tonight’s game.
The winger sustained a knock to the ankle in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace but boss Mark Hughes has said he should be fine to be involved.
Hughes has also said Saido Berahino, who was left out of the matchday 18 at the weekend, is in his thoughts for this contest. Geoff Cameron (concussion) and Jack Butland (finger) remain sidelined.
Liverpool forwards Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are set to return after being rested for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Sturridge, their two replacements at the weekend, look most likely to miss out while Georginio Wijnaldum could come back into midfield at the expense of James Milner.
Emre Can has recovered from a muscular injury and will rejoin the squad but a late decision will be made on defender Dejan Lovren.
MANCHESTER CITY vs SOUTHAMPTON – PREVIEW
Manchester City remain without defenders John Stones and Benjamin Mendy.
Centre-back Stones (hamstring) is likely to be out until the end of December while Mendy (knee) is not expected to play again until April.
Eliaquim Mangala is in contention to play in central defence if captain Vincent Kompany, only recently returned from a hamstring injury, is rested.
Southampton will welcome central midfielder Oriol Romeu back from suspension.
Fellow midfielder Mario Lemina returned from an ankle problem as a second-half substitute against the Toffees and came through unscathed, but defender Matt Targett (leg) remains sidelined.

ARSENAL vs HUDDERSFIELD – PREVIEW
Arsenal will be hopeful Mesut Ozil overcomes illness to be involved in tonight’s Premier League visit of Huddersfield.
The Germany international missed the 1-0 win at Burnley on Sunday but trained yesterday in an attempt to be available.
Alex Iwobi (leg) is definitely missing, as is long-term injury absentee Santi Cazorla (ankle) but they are Arsene Wenger’s only two sidelined players.
Huddersfield will be without suspended winger Rajiv Van la Parra following his red card in Sunday’s home defeat to Manchester City, but head coach David Wagner has no new selection problems.
CHELSEA vs SWANSEA – PREVIEW
Defender David Luiz is out of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Swansea with a knee injury.
Luiz lost his place to Andreas Christensen and was an unused substitute in last Saturday’s draw at Liverpool, with the full extent of his injury yet to be known.
Swansea are without Tammy Abraham at Stamford Bridge as the on-loan Chelsea striker cannot play against his parent club.
Federico Fernandez remains in his native Argentina following the death of his father and Dutch defender Mike van der Hoorn will continue to deputise.

BOURNEMOUTH vs BURNLEY – PREVIEW
Bournemouth will have captain Simon Francis available again following a one-match ban for the visit of Burnley.
Striker Jermain Defoe (calf) and midfielder Junior Stanislas (groin) both missed Saturday’s goalless draw at Swansea.
Burnley’s ever-present back four could see its first change of the Premier League season, with Matt Lowton a doubt.
Lowton took a knock against Arsenal on Sunday and will be assessed, with Phil Bardsley ready to step in at right-back in required.
Chris Wood could return in place of Ashley Barnes up front but Dean Marney, Jon Walters (both knee) and Tom Heaton (shoulder) all remain out.
EVERTON vs WEST HAM – PREVIEW
Everton duo Leighton Baines and Michael Keane are likely to sit out tonight’s clash with West Ham after both came off with injuries at Southampton on Sunday.
Fellow defender Mason Holgate (groin), who has missed the last three matches, will be assessed ahead of the contest at Goodison Park.
Oumar Niasse is unavailable as he completes his two-match suspension, but Tom Davies can be called upon again having served his one-game ban.
Marko Arnautovic should be available despite limping off towards the end of Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Leicester.
Javier Hernandez, Michail Antonio (both hamstring) and James Collins (ankle) are not quite ready to return.
