She replied: “In my own industry I don’t find it difficult but when I’m on Strictly, for example.

“I’m a little more sensitive to people who are non-dancers and they have to get a dance ready in a few days and put it out at the weekend, in front of millions of viewers!

“So, I do carry that a little bit with me in my heart, it’s a lot of work,” she admitted.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7:15pm on BBC One and Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh airs Sundays from 10am on ITV.

Holly Willoughby’s future at This Morning ‘confirmed’ amid rumours star is ‘stepping down’ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughbys-future-at-this-morning-confirmed-amid-rumours-star-is-stepping-down/ https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughbys-future-at-this-morning-confirmed-amid-rumours-star-is-stepping-down/#respond Sun, 23 Aug 2020 09:18:36 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/holly-willoughbys-future-at-this-morning-confirmed-amid-rumours-star-is-stepping-down/

Fans were over-the-moon to see Alison presenting the show as opposed to presenting segments throughout.

But, it seems it won’t be Alison taking over from Holly if the star were to step down.

It came as one fan recently tweeted: “I love Alison, but a whole show, regularly, would be too much,” a viewer replied quickly after Friday’s edition.

The tweet sent viewers into a frenzy, especially when Alison herself got involved.

Alison saw the tweet and quickly replied: “Agreed.”

This Morning airs on ITV weekdays at 10am.

After two decades, Mike Henry is stepping down as the voice of Family Guy‘s Cleveland Brown, the actor announced on Twitter.

“It’s been an honor to play Cleveland on Family Guy for 20 years,” Henry tweeted on Friday. “I love this character, but persons of color should play characters of color. Therefore, I will be stepping down from the role.”

Henry, who is not Black, has voiced Cleveland, who is Black, since the character was introduced in Family Guy‘s 1999 series premiere. He also headlined The Cleveland Show for four seasons (2009–2013) on Fox.

Cleveland now joins a growing list of high-profile animated characters that have been recast this week. Jenny Slate announced on Wednesday that she will no longer voice biracial tween Missy on Netflix’s Big Mouth, while Kristen Bell is also being recast as the voice of a young biracial character on Apple TV+’s Central Park.

UPDATE: Fox on Friday released a statement announcing that The Simpsons “will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters.”

Rachel Riley speaks out on stepping down from Countdown after 11 years: ‘Carry me out’ https://briefnews.eu/rachel-riley-speaks-out-on-stepping-down-from-countdown-after-11-years-carry-me-out/ https://briefnews.eu/rachel-riley-speaks-out-on-stepping-down-from-countdown-after-11-years-carry-me-out/#respond Wed, 17 Jun 2020 18:05:08 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/rachel-riley-speaks-out-on-stepping-down-from-countdown-after-11-years-carry-me-out/

Rachel Riley, 34, is best known for being a presenter on Countdown, starring alongside several hosts over the past 11 years. The television personality also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2013 as her role on the Channel 4 quiz show launched her popularity. It was from taking part on the BBC dance show the former contestant met her husband, Pasha Kovalev, 40, with the pair welcoming their first child back in December. With so much on her plate, the mathematician has revealed whether she will be making an exit from her current role.

In 2009, Rachel took over as co-host of the popular afternoon puzzle show after former star Carol Vorderman, 59, announced her exit from the show.

The Oxford University graduate was introduced alongside new host at the time, Jeff Stelling, 65, but currently presents with former The Apprentice star, Nick Hewer, 76.

Whereas the latter oversees proceedings and asks the questions, his colleague is on hand to reveal the tiled letters available to form words before going on to explain the answers.

It wasn’t until after 26 years in the role did the former Strictly star’s predecessor decided to quit the programme.

However, it seems she is looking to challenge the current title as the mother-of-one has revealed her plans for the future and whether she will be stepping down.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk about staying on the programme, the Countdown presenter said: “Yeah I hope so, I love it, it’s been over 11 years now and I’m still really enjoying it.

“Love the team and really love the numbers game and there’s different contestants coming in all the time and different dictionary corner guests so it doesn’t feel like you’re working the same day over and over.

“It’s really good fun so as long as they’ll have me, you’ll have to carry me out of that place,” Rachel admitted.

With no chance of hanging up her shoes just yet, it seems fans will still be able to tune in and see the mathematician helping contestants when the show resumes production later this year.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the Channel 4 puzzle show continued to film without a studio audience until the end of March.

Last month, the current serving host Nick spoke out about when filming would resume, with Rachel and Dictionary Corner presenter Susie Dent, 55, back at the helm.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the former Apprentice sat said: “Nothing will stop Countdown,” after the final pre-recorded episode aired at the beginning of May.

“We’re now running the 30th-anniversary competition, and hopefully we’ll be back in June. Hopefully, fingers crossed.”

There might have been fears Nick wouldn’t return alongside Rachel when filming resumes due to his age, putting him in the vulnerable category.

The former Strictly contestant’s co-star said: “I am slightly anxious about it, but the over 70s have seen it all and we are responsible people.

“I think you can trust those over 70s to be responsible, they know their vulnerability. I will go back [to Countdown] happily to the studio if not cautiously, I will keep my distance.”

Previous episodes are currently airing on Channel 4 for viewers to enjoy in the meantime.

Countdown airs weekdays at 2:10pm on Channel 4.

Supernatural’s Genevieve Padalecki on Stepping Back Into Ruby’s ‘Badass’ Shoes, Reuniting With Sam and Dean https://briefnews.eu/supernaturals-genevieve-padalecki-on-stepping-back-into-rubys-badass-shoes-reuniting-with-sam-and-dean/ https://briefnews.eu/supernaturals-genevieve-padalecki-on-stepping-back-into-rubys-badass-shoes-reuniting-with-sam-and-dean/#respond Sun, 22 Mar 2020 23:17:31 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/supernaturals-genevieve-padalecki-on-stepping-back-into-rubys-badass-shoes-reuniting-with-sam-and-dean/ How’s this for awkward? The demon who manipulated Sam into drinking demon blood on Supernatural may hold the key to solving the Winchesters’ problems.

On Monday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c), Genevieve Padalecki reprises her role as Ruby, when the “search for the one thing that may give the Winchesters an edge against God leads Sam and Dean to Jo’s (guest star Danneel Ackles) door and to a secret that may have died with Ruby,” per the official synopsis.

Below, the tight-lipped Padalecki teases Ruby’s “scary” reunion with Sam and Dean, and opens up about what it was like to return to acting while being a full-time mom to her three children with Supernatural leading man Jared Padalecki.

Supernatural The French MistakeTVLINE | I know death doesn’t mean the end on Supernatural, but it has been 11 seasons since Ruby died. Did you think you would ever get to play her again?
I think I was always really hopeful, especially after coming back in “The French Mistake” and having so much fun. I was always hopeful that I would get the opportunity again to come back and play Ruby. I don’t know if I expected it, but I was definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

TVLINE | Was it something that you talked about with Jared or the producers over the years?
No, but I think around the time after “The French Mistake,” I always made it known that when the show was coming to a close or if there was a certain story plot or storyline, I would always love to come back. The show, for me, personally [and] selfishly, has always been such an important part of my family that I always wanted to be a part of it in the end. I always made that known to the producers and Jared and everyone. So I felt really grateful when there was an opportunity for me to come back.

TVLINE | How did it feel to be back on set as Ruby? I’m sure you’ve been back on set in other capacities over the years…
It was really cool. It was really special. It’s definitely a different feeling coming on as my husband’s wife and saying “hi,” in his work environment. [It is] a totally other experience when you’re stepping on the set as a character, and seeing people in a work environment and feeling part of the crew and the team. So that is such an exciting feeling. I really enjoyed being on set. I love to work, I love acting. So for me, being able to have my family and have three kids and then be able to jump right back in and start working in this capacity, I couldn’t ask for a better scenario. It was a dream come true for me. It was a lot of fun, and I just definitely felt like I jumped right back in and I was part of the team again.

TVLINE | What did you miss most about playing Ruby?
I missed her kind of grit and darkness. And I missed how she can be a bit of a badass and a little bit conniving. She’s got an agenda. I think Gen, myself, can be a little bit like, “Let’s look on the bright side!” [Laughs] I’m scatterbrained at times, so I love that she’s focused on the prize. I just enjoyed stepping back in those shoes. Plus, she always gets to wear high heels. I don’t get to do that often anymore with three kids, so that was fun.

TVLINE | Since it’s been so long since we’ve seen Ruby, what can you say about what she’s been up to in that time, and how she’s changed or not in that time?
That’s a tough one, because I don’t want to give too much away in terms of when you see her. I think that you’ll definitely see her badass [side], the demon character that she plays and the toughness and stuff. We’ve seen vulnerability in different ways from her, and I think you’ll see a little bit of that as well. So that’ll be an interesting change.

Supernatural Ruby ReturnsTVLINE | We do know that she sort of re-enters the picture through Jo. Do Jo and Ruby have a history as an angel and a demon?
You’ll have to find out! [Laughs] But I think you’ll definitely be able to see how they’re similar and how they’re different, and how they kind of play off of each other, and you can kind of make your own assumptions from there, I guess.

TVLINE | Did you and Danneel campaign to have a storyline together? Or was that pure coincidence?
No, that was actually a coincidence, which was such a great situation for us, because we’re so busy with our kids. Even though we live so close to each other [in Austin, Texas], I feel like getting to spend the episode with her was such a gift. We don’t get to hang out as often as we’d like with our busy schedules, so that was super fun.

TVLINE | We don’t really know what Ruby’s feelings are at this point about God. Is that something that’s explored in the episode?
I think she’ll definitely be part of the storyline, and I know that God’s a big arc. So I think she’ll play to that. I think you can make judgments either way. I don’t know if it’s as black and white.

TVLINE | Ruby was a very clever demon who manipulated Sam for a long time to free Lucifer and was an enemy of the Winchesters. So would she even want to help them out, if she had the resources to?
I feel like everyone’s now doing it. She was the OG, who was like the original “I’ve got a plan, I’m sticking to it, and I’m not going to apologize for it.” Now everyone seems to be following suit. I don’t know. I think if there was an agenda involved, and she can see the goal, especially in dire times, I think she would go for it.

Supernatural Ruby ReturnsTVLINE | The Winchesters and Ruby did not leave things on a nice note, to put it mildly. Last time we saw her, they killed her. Is there anything you can tease about what the reunion looks like between them?
The reunion looks… scary. [Laughs] No, I don’t know. I think she is in dire straits. I don’t want to say too much about any reunions. Just wait and see. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Sam and Ruby, obviously, have a complicated relationship. Do you think that she still has maybe some deeper feelings for him?
I’m sure she’ll always have fond memories of the relationship. I would think that even though he betrayed her, I think she understands that in a way, because she probably would have done the same thing. So I think she’ll probably always have fond memories of him.

TVLINE | One of the fun things that the promo teased was that we’re going to meet a Sam and Dean from another world. Did you get to witness Jared and Jensen [Ackles] playing these other versions of Sam and Dean while you were on set?
I didn’t get to be on set, but I got to FaceTime an awful lot, and my children had a lot of fun seeing their dad dressed up in this alternate universe. They thought it was pretty funny and were asking lots of questions about the set stuff. We’re definitely trying to get our middle son to rock that man bun.

TVLINE | You mentioned that you love acting, and you love being on set. Did this episode spark a desire in you to do more acting in the future?
Yeah, definitely. I’ve been a full-time mom, and I’ve been running a blog, which has been so fun and such an amazing creative outlet. But to get back on set and to actually be working as an actor again definitely ignited a creative spark in me that I absolutely hope to pursue a bit in the future.

Zuckerberg says stepping down at Facebook is ‘not the plan’ https://briefnews.eu/zuckerberg-says-stepping-down-at-facebook-is-not-the-plan/ https://briefnews.eu/zuckerberg-says-stepping-down-at-facebook-is-not-the-plan/#respond Wed, 21 Nov 2018 03:48:56 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/zuckerberg-says-stepping-down-at-facebook-is-not-the-plan/

Once again, there has been a bombshell report about Facebook and once again, execs are doing the rounds on cable news. This time instead of Sheryl Sandberg, it’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and his tone in a CNN Business interview was not nearly as apologetic as we saw the company earlier this year after news broke about Cambridge Analytica. As we’ve seen lately, he didn’t directly address many of the claims made about Facebook’s behavior, but characterized them as generally inaccurate, saying “It is not clear to me at all that the report is right” about the New York Times article that sparked this latest round of criticism.

Otherwise, he seemed unwilling to change his role or step down as leader of the company, and of COO Sandberg said “I hope we work together for decades more to come.” Separately, tonight TechCrunch reports that an internal memo showed outgoing policy head Eliot Schrager take responsibility for the company hiring Definers, a PR firm that spread negative publicity about competitors and pushed angles linking George Soros to critics. In the memo Schrage said Facebook did ask them to do work relating to Soros and that Definers reached out to members of the press showing that he funded some people who were critical of the company.

Schrage:

I knew and approved of the decision to hire Definers and similar firms. I should have known of the decision to expand their mandate. Over the past decade, I built a management system that relies on the teams to escalate issues if they are uncomfortable about any project, the value it will provide or the risks that it creates. That system failed here and I’m sorry I let you all down. I regret my own failure here.

The memo didn’t go into who these “similar firms” were or what work they did, but Sandberg also said “Some of their work was incorporated into materials presented to me and I received a small number of emails where Definers was referenced.”

Steve Yzerman stepping aside as Lightning GM: reports https://briefnews.eu/steve-yzerman-stepping-aside-as-lightning-gm-reports/ https://briefnews.eu/steve-yzerman-stepping-aside-as-lightning-gm-reports/#respond Tue, 11 Sep 2018 19:11:11 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/steve-yzerman-stepping-aside-as-lightning-gm-reports/

In a pre-training camp shocker, Steve Yzerman is leaving his post as general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to reports.

The NHL team is holding a news conference at 4 p.m. ET to make an official announcement. It's expected Lightning assistant GM Julien BriseBois will be promoted, with Yzerman remaining in the organization.

BriseBois, 41, has long been considered a future NHL GM who worked under Yzerman since they arrived in Tampa eight years ago.

The Lightning are coming off a franchise-best 113-point regular season and Game 7 loss in the Eastern Conference final to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.

Yzerman, who was named Lightning GM on May 25, 2010, guided Tampa to the Cup Final in 2015 and watched the team fall in six games to Chicago. The Lightning posted a 54-23-5 record last season and has advanced to the conference finals twice in the past three years.

Solid rebuild

During the 2014-15 campaign, Tampa reached the 50-win plateau for the first time and set a new record with 32 home victories. The NHL also rewarded Yzerman for his hard work, naming the native of Cranbrook, B.C., its GM of the year.

Prior to joining the Lightning, the 53-year-old spent four seasons as vice president with the Detroit Red Wings after retiring as a player with the team in 2006. Yzerman is a four-time Cup champion, winning three times as a player (1997, 1998, 2002) and as a member of Detroit's management team in 2008.

He took over in Tampa from the fired Brian Lawton, tasked with the challenge of rebuilding a franchise that had fallen on hard times since capturing its lone Stanley Cup in 2004.

"The long-term goal is to make this team a perennial contender." Yzerman, a 2009 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in his first year of eligibility, said at the time.

During Yzerman's first season in Florida, the Lightning rebounded from a 34-36-12 mark in 2009-10 to go 46-25-11 under new head coach Guy Boucher.

International success

Since its 18-26-4 record in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, Tampa hasn't had a winning percentage under .573.

Along the way, Yzerman, known for his emphasis on drafting and development, has watched homegrown players flourish such as Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Alex Killorn.

In recent years, Yzerman became an integral part of Hockey Canada's management team, serving as GM at the world championships in 2007 and 2008 when Team Canada brought home gold and silver medals, respectively.

The father of three daughters also led Canada to gold in 2010 at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he served as the team's executive director. Yzerman held the same position four years later when the Canadians prevailed in Sochi, Russia.

The Chris Hardwick fallout continues: Yvette Nicole Brown will temporarily replace Hardwick as host of AMC’s popular Talking Dead post-show when it returns next month, our sister site Variety is reporting.

“Yvette Nicole Brown will step in as an interim guest host of The Walking Dead Season 9 Preview Special on August 5 and Talking Dead when it returns following the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on August 12,” the network said in a statement, “as we work to complete our assessment related to Chris Hardwick.”
