Google’s acquisition of Fitbit closed in early 2021, but we haven’t seen much in the way of changes yet. 9to5Google spotted a big upcoming change posted on Fitbit’s help site: account migrations! A new Fitbit help page has outlined the plan for the coming Google account migration. If this goes anything like the Nest account migrations (done by the same Google Hardware division), Fitbit users are in for a wild ride.
Google’s support page says, “We plan to enable use of Fitbit with a Google account sometime in 2023” and that at that point “some uses of Fitbit will require a Google account, including to sign up for Fitbit or activate newly released Fitbit devices and features.” That means optional account migrations for existing users in 2023. Google also says, “Support of Fitbit accounts will continue until at least early 2025. After support of Fitbit accounts ends, a Google account will be required to use Fitbit. We’ll be transparent with our customers about the timeline for ending Fitbit accounts through notices within the Fitbit app, by email, and in help articles.”
The merging of accounts will, of course, mean that Google gets your health data. Google says that “you’ll need to consent to transfer your Fitbit user data from Fitbit to Google” and that “Google will then provide you with Fitbit under Google’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and binding commitments for Fitbit.” Part of those EU commitments, which Google chose to apply to the whole world, is that “Google will not use Fitbit health and wellness data for Google Ads.”

]]>Once the beta arrives, it will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PS4, with support for crossplay and cross-progression between platforms supported. If you don’t get into this round of testing, Blizzard notes public testing will begin early next year.
The upcoming beta will focus on Diablo IV’s endgame experience for a couple of reasons. Blizzard says it doesn’t want to spoil the game’s story before release. The decision is also a reflection of the way a lot of players enjoy Diablo games. “For many, the end game is their favorite aspect of Diablo — we want to ensure it feels satisfying, and with no shortage of challenging variety to experience across many, many demon-slaying gaming sessions,” the studio said, adding feedback from participants will play a critical part in polishing the experience. One thing you should not expect is to hear from those playing the closed beta. Blizzard said the event would be “confidential,” a not-so-subtle allusion to the fact footage from Diablo IVleaked over the weekend.

For instance, if you’re on your phone and see a cool Forza Horizon 5 clip that your friend posted, you can start playing the game just by clicking the button. Given that this is a cloud gaming function, you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to use it.
Xbox’s take on the feature doesn’t seem quite as advanced as Stadia’s State Share, however. The latter allows you to join a game at the same point as someone else and experience a world exactly as they left it just by clicking a link.

There’s another welcome feature that’s available on Xbox Series X/S starting today: noise suppression for party chats. Microsoft says it can keep sounds like controller clicks, your breathing and background noise out of your friends’ ears.
Noise suppression, which Xbox started publicly testing back in May, will be enabled by default. If you want your pals to hear music you’re playing in the background, you can switch it off from the Parties and Chats options in the guide. Microsoft plans to bring the feature to more devices in the near future.

The updated COVID-19 boosters targeting the BA.4/5 subvariants now rolling out nationwide are meant to head off a surge of the disease this fall and winter—but they are also meant to signal a shift in the nation’s pandemic response, which is moving out of an emergency phase to a place with routine, potentially annual vaccinations against a virus that is clearly not going away.
In a White House press briefing Tuesday, top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci along with other Biden administration officials, repeatedly pushed the idea that this new phase will see COVID-19 vaccinations follow the footsteps of seasonal flu vaccines.
“It is becoming increasingly clear that—looking forward with the COVID-19 pandemic, in the absence of a dramatically different variant—we likely are moving towards a path with a vaccination cadence similar to that of the annual influenza vaccine, with annual, updated COVID-19 shots matched to the currently circulating strains for most of the population,” Fauci said.

Great Big Lockdown Survey: Tell us what life’s like for you by answering THESE questions
The One Show delighted viewers with a double dose of Welsh presenters this evening as resident host Alex Jones was joined by Gethin Jones on the green sofas in the BBC studio. However, moments into the live magazine show airing, Alex was forced to shut down her co-host after making a joke.
After the titles had rolled, Alex started: “Welcome to The One Show with Mr Jones -”
And Gethin finished off her sentence with: “And Mrs Jones – and just for the record, we’re not married – anymore!”
Shocked but realising he was joking around, Alex hit back: “Don’t start rumours!”
Before clarifying: “I’m technically Thomson,” in reference to taking her husband’s name after they got married.

This isn’t the first time Gethin and Alex has presented, nevertheless, those watching at home love the duo.
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “Excellent. I love @GethincJones and @MissAlexjones presenting together. Gethin should be made a permanent presenter on #TheOneShow.”
“Gethin Jones works really well with Alex Jones – keep him #theoneshow,” another argued.
Someone else wrote online: “Great having Gethin back! Please keep him, love him and Alex together. It’s just like being sat with some friends having a good laugh! Diolch.”
Another suggested: “@BBCTheOneShow love gethin Jones …works well with Alex ..ther you have matts replacement ..and Chris Ramsey as a stand in ..not rocket science !I”
t comes after Matt Baker left his long-time presenting role at The One Show earlier this year.
The BBC said no one person would be replacing Matt, instead a variety of famous faces will be sitting alongside Alex each week.
“We are drawing on our existing family of presenters – made up of men and women – to present alongside Alex Jones,” the spokesperson revealed.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Fiona Shaw teased the forthcoming outing: “It doesn’t shy away from not being funny. And I think that’s very good.
“Season two was very funny, but season three is very structured, so you’re going to get a lot of stuff that is very real.
“And that’s very dangerous in a way, because we’ve begun to get quite unreal.
“Now we’re back to quite real. There’s quite a lot of challenges with the characters, but it’s very fulfilling for the audience to watch.”
Killing Eve season 3 airs on BBC America and AMC on Sundays at 9pm and BBC iPlayer in the UK on Mondays from 6am
]]>Eventually, after Beth made it clear how much her husband’s emotional unease was affecting their marriage and family, Randall gave psychoanalysis another shot. But oof, what a painful way to get there! TVLine got series star Sterling K. Brown on the phone to give us the lowdown on Randall’s uncomfortable attempt at introspection and to hint at why an upcoming installment “may be one of my favorite episodes we’ve shot in the past four years.”
TVLINE | This is Randall at a new, anxious level, when he first walks into that office.
Yes, it is.
TVLINE | We’ve talked before about how he often thinks he’s the smartest person in the room. Does he think he’s smarter than his therapist?
Absolutely. I think he’s already, fairly or unfairly — probably unfairly — judged what he thought he was going to be receiving in terms of treatment. The fact that she didn’t have cups for the water cooler, that crappy painting in his mind that she has on the wall, the fact that she can’t turn off the dadgum coffee machine. You know what? Have things together. Present yourself in such a way that the little things matter. Because she didn’t take care of those things, he had written her off from the beginning.
TVLINE | It seems like he’s looking for a reason to get mad and leave.
Yes. Yes.
TVLINE | We run into that the most when she says she already knows who he is. Why do you think that, in particular, sets him off?
Two parts. There’s the assumption that there’s a blank slate, so you get the chance to present yourself to people the way that you want to. And the idea that someone has information on him that he didn’t expect means that he can no longer pretend to be something different. Also the fact that she didn’t share that information at the very beginning, he found a little upsetting, that she held that card close to her vest. But I think when you’re not looking to be your authentic self and you want to have the option of presenting the self that you want to be seen as, when somebody has inside information, that sort of debunks that attempt.
TVLINE | The idea that the family might not fall apart without Randall taking care of everything brings him up short. Do you think he’d ever considered that possibility before?
No. [Laughs] I don’t. I think he fully expects that if he did not assume the level of responsibility he had after the passing of his dad, that things could have gone a very different way for his family, and that that different way would not be as positive as the way things have played themselves out thusly. I think he feels that sincerely, and I don’t think he feels it in an egomaniacal sort of way. He’s like, “Somebody has to step up. My sister is reeling from the loss of my dad, my brother took off to go become an actor. Somebody has to keep it together. And while I could’ve gone off and had a completely different like, possibly, I decided to stay home. I decided to come back every weekend to make sure things were good. I decided to teach my mom how to use a computer program so that she could be hirable to take on her new job. I did those things, and I’m not necessarily looking for credit from them, from external forces, but dadgum it, I did it. And nobody else did.”
TVLINE | He goes back to the therapist’s office for Beth’s sake, when he might not have gone back for his own. That’s very sweet, but also a little sad.
There’s a recognition at the end that his mental health doesn’t just affect him. That was the way that he was thinking about it before. Because if I go run, I can take care of myself and I’m “fine.” But the way that I’m navigating this world necessarily impacts the people that I love, my ride-or-die, my partner. And when she says that “I am afraid to share the things that are going on with me, in my life because I don’t know if you can take it,” then he says, “OK. Let me take a step back. Reevaluate for the sake and sanctity of my marriage. It’s not about me anymore. It’s about us.”
TVLINE | You get to play with Pamela Adlon now for a while. You’ve said this therapy storyline influences the last four episodes of the season.
Yeah. I love that woman so much. We first got to meet a few years ago when we were both nominated for Emmys… and just hit it off. When you meet a real human being — not just an artist whose work you appreciate to the highest level, but someone who is authentically themselves? Like, nobody is realer than Miss Pamela. I told her before, I said, “How did Dan [Fogelman, series creator] get you to do this?” This woman is running her own show, she writes every episode, she directs every episode, she produces it. I was like, “How did he do this?” She was like, “I have no idea.” But I think it’s because there’s real love for one another, and then we got to play with each other. That may have been the straw that broke her camel’s back and say, “OK, this may be something worth doing.”
We had a great time. You’ll see her again in Episode 17. I haven’t seen it yet — I’ll be honest with you — but I think it may be one of my favorite episodes we’ve shot in the past four years.

If the reason that Rebecca is in that bed in the flashforward begins in this week’s This Is Us, oof, are we in for a rough go.
Because Tuesday’s episode very strongly hints that the Pearson matriarch is starting down the long, painful road to dementia… which would explain why she seems not to know who Randall is when we see her in the far-flung sequence teased last season.
In far less terrible news, Nicky finally has his court date for tossing the chair through the veterans’ center’s window, and it goes well! But the event feels like the end of an era, seeing as how Kevin is planning to leave town right before Thanksgiving. There’s no way Cassidy’s involvement in the Pearson saga is going to end just like that, right? RIGHT?
Read on for the highlights of “Sorry.”
‘R&R TIME’ | College-era Randall is fixing the dishwasher at Rebecca’s house when Marc swings by to pick up Kate. Given how little time he spends in the family’s presence before he and Kate head to the movies, it’s rather impressive how many red flags he manages to throw down. He calls Randall “Randy.” He not-kindly mocks Kate’s desire to see Practical Magic, which alone makes him a monster. And good lord, that facial hair! After they’re gone, Rebecca and Randall exchange looks. But then Rebecca, who we’ll later learn is kinda overwhelmed by life at this point, says, “I’m just happy that she’s happy.” Randall, changing tack and picking up on his mom’s weariness, offers to help her find the job she so sorely needs.
So he drives Rebecca to an interview, where the hiring manager thinks she’s lovely but is dismayed at her inexperience with the computer system his office uses. So when Rebecca is in the ladies’ room afterward, Randall gives the man the ol’ Pearson Elevator Speech. You know, the one that starts with Randall getting adopted at the hospital and ends with an earnest plea to help whichever member of the family is having the worst day at that moment?
It works. Rebecca later gets a call that she’s nabbed the job, which prompts her to ask her son what he said when he intervened with her new boss. “I just want people to see you the way I do,” he says. She’s touched… and then worried about starting an entry-level job at her age. She cries, but then pulls herself together quickly. “I don’t need you to worry about me, I promise,” she vows. But he reassures her that he likes being at home for “R&R” time (aka Randall and Rebecca time), which is almost too cheesy even for her.
NICKY KNOWS | In the present, Kevin lies in bed and flashes back to when Cassidy left his RV after they slept together. “We’re both adults,” she told him. “Nobody did anything wrong.” Still, he feels guilty for complicating her life. She absolves him of that guilt but also says she probably won’t call him.
A week later, Nicky knows what’s up. “You slept with her, didn’t you?” he blurts, noting that their female friend hasn’t been at Alcoholics Anonymous all week. “I thought you were trying to help the poor kid fix her marriage, not destroy it. You’re like a human wrecking ball.” To make things worse, Kevin imagines that his father — and not his uncle — is yelling at him as he says, “Shame on you.”
Kev takes the sentiment to heart, spiraling until he winds up sipping club soda at a bar and spoiling for a fight with the closest lunkhead he can rile up. “Buddy, you looking for trouble?” a townie asks Kevin after he inserts himself into the guy’s conversation. The bravado goes back and forth until Kevin says of the man’s wife, “I bet you 20 bucks I can get her to take her clothes off within 20 minutes of meeting her.” That earns him a punch or two.
Nicky rallies Cassidy, who’s in the dumps about signing her divorce papers, and the pair go looking for The Manny. They find him walking, all busted up but sober, and Nicky is irked to realize that his nephew completely forgot that his court date was that afternoon. While Nicky fumes and changes into a jacket and tie, Cassidy gently applies foundation to cover Kev’s bruises and reassures him: “It wasn’t you who destroyed my marriage, Kevin. I did it all by myself, way before I met you.”
NICKY IS A NEW MAN | At his hearing, the judge asks Nicky whether he has remorse about throwing the chair. “Not really,” he replies, which seems we’re about to kick off another round of hard-to-watch self-sabotage. But instead, he launches into a monologue about how tossing the furniture “was the best thing that ever happened to me” because it led to his newfound sobriety, his ability to stick with therapy and his getting to know his nephew. “I wasn’t broken. I was sick,” he says in court. “And when you’re sick, you’ve gotta let the people who care about you help.” The judge is convinced that he’s turned a corner; she says if he remains in treatment and stays out of trouble, his record will be expunged.
Later, Kevin and Cassidy talk about how he’s going to Philadelphia for Thanksgiving, then back to California. “I hope you find your happy ending, Kevin,” she says sadly before she sets out for dinner with her almost-ex-husband and son. “I hope you find yours, too,” Kevin replies in similar fashion.
Back at the campers, Kevin invites Nicky to Thanksgiving. “I could do that,” Nicky says, seeming so much lighter than we’ve seen him. “You’re a good kid,” he adds, and Kevin imagines it’s his dad saying it.
BABY JACK’S FIRST SOLID FOOD | In California, Kate and Toby can’t find a solid food that Baby Jack likes. While Toby is at the gym, Kate — with the help of neighbor Gregory — discover that the little guy enjoys avocado. But then Kate feels bad that the infant has had another first while his dad wasn’t there to witness it. So she engineers the situation to happen again when Tobes is home, though she can’t seem to fake the enthusiasm necessary to sell it. I’m surprised Toby doesn’t pick up on how weirdly his wife is acting, but we’ve got an even bigger problem brewing on the other coast, so… moving on!
‘SENIOR MOMENTS’ OR MORE? | Malik comes over for a movie date with Deja, supervised by Beth. But it goes badly when the teens start to argue and Deja stomps off to hide in her room. Beth pries until Malik sings like a bird: Deja wants to see her birth mom, Shauna, but feels weird about asking Randall and Beth. Beth immediately discusses the matter with Deja, admitting that a previous request to see Shauna had gotten lost along the wayside, and vowing that they would rectify the situation ASAP. Happy, Deja wonders if she can invite her mom for Thanksgiving. Beth says yes, but her smile is tight.
Meanwhile, Rebecca arrives early for the holiday, which gives Randall a chance to show her around town. But she seems more scattered than normal, and she insists on taking photos of everything “so I can show Miguel.” She calls Randall a “congressman” instead of a “councilman.” She loses her phone. Randall’s worry grows as the day progresses, until he brings her back to the house to rendezvous with Beth, the kids and Miguel, who’s just arrived after seeing his own family.
Randall waits until Rebecca is alone upstairs before talking to her about what he witnessed. “You don’t seem like yourself today. You had a few mix-ups,” he says, and her demeanor gets increasingly defensives as she attributes the confusion to nothing more than “senior moments.” He suggests that she see a doctor while she’s in town, and he offers to help her get an appointment with someone great, but she shuts him down, HARD. “I’m still the parent here and you’re still the son, in case you’ve forgotten,” she snips, and he comes very close to saying that he’s been taking care of her for most of his life, but he doesn’t… yet she knows exactly what he was thinking.
“You said something very clearly, and it was cruel. And it was beneath you,” she says, shutting the bedroom door in his face as she says she wants to lay down. Guys, I am very, very worried.
Now it’s your turn. What did you think of the episode? Sound off in the comments!
