Sigono’s OPUS: Rocket Of Whispers has you exploring a literal ghost town. After an apocalyptic plague that killed most of Earth’s population, a rocket engineer and a witch try to send the spirits to their final resting place – to space.

Much like The Day We Found Earth, Sigono’s previous game, Rocket of Whispers has a story to tell, and it tells you in a slow, relaxed pace, giving you something to do inbetween story beats. In this case, you’re building a rocket out of scrap metal by exploring a deserted, snowy town and dismantling old machines.

Why would you do that, you ask? Well, apparently this strange world was conducting “space burials” before the plague hit. The spirits would otherwise linger on and disturb the residents – and after the plague there are a lot of spirits.

This is a slow-paced, character-focused game, and sometimes the exploration feels like it is meant to just give you something to do and not just watch the story unfold – which is perfectly fine.

I’ve grown to enjoy this kind of storytelling, and it fits the medium incredibly well (especially on the Switch, which lets me play in bed, right before going to sleep). This slow, melancholy story would probably bore me out of my wits as a book or television series.

However, as a game, the repetition and plodding exploration becomes part of its very structure, part of what it is and how it tells its story. And it does so remarkably well.

Woodfarer places players in control of an adventurous bird-like creature tasked with collecting three spirits spread across pretty post-apocalyptic forests. Players will be able to traverse these woods and discover interesting sights on their journey, but may have to deal with losing their way, as well as pesky foes, at the same time!

Stumbling through a large gate, the Woodfarer is tasked with finding the three spirits and returning them to the shrine. They’ve been kidnapped by evil forces, but luckily, the spirits you pick up aren’t just good for collecting, as you can fling them at enemies to knock them aside. Getting lost can cause problems too, but using your trusty compass, you’ll be able to quickly track down the spirits on the map.

Players who take the time to explore each nook and cranny will be rewarded with many striking places to see in the broken, but still lush, old world. If taking in the sights isn’t incentive enough, you may find items to increase your health.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s new trailer for Daddy’s Home 2, which sees parents visiting their grown up kids for the holidays to silly comedic results, this year’s other Christmas comedy has debuted a trailer, but with much raunchier laughs.

A Bad Moms Christmas is the follow-up to the R-rated comedy Bad Moms from last year. After the movie raked in $ 113.2 million on a budget of just $ 20 million, STX Entertainment fast-tracked a sequel and added some holiday spice. This time, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn have to contend with the arrival of Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Susan Sarandon as their respective mothers.

While the first Bad Moms was refreshing by letting the primary female cast be as irresponsible and raunchy as plenty of male ensembles before them, this doesn’t feel like it’s justifying its existence quite as much. How many times do we have to see parents making the holidays difficult for their adult offspring? Is there any way to make that concept feel fresh any more? Adding some R-rated language and behavior to the mix might help, but there’s nothing here that made me laugh out loud.

At the very least, this will be some interesting counter-programming for those who aren’t sold on the more family friendly, slapstick comedy of Daddy’s Home 2. Though the R-rated moments in this trailer feel desperate to be raunchy just for the sake of inappropriateness. You know what I would love to see though? A crossover between Bad Moms and Daddy’s Home somehow.

The rest of the cast includes Jay Hernandez, Wanda Sykes, Peter Gallagher, Justin Hartley, and Oona Laurence with The Hangover and Bad Moms writing duo Jon Lucas & Scott Moore behind the script again, as well as directing too.

The job of a courier isn’t an easy one – and even more difficult when tasked with delivering to spirits that may require some extra work to get to. In Tiny Echo, players will be in control of Emi – the courier of said letters and tasked with solving any puzzles that may get in the way of delivering messages to the spirits of the undergrowth.

Tiny Echo presents itself as an easy-going experience that players will be able to enjoy at their own pace as they appreciate the beautifully-crafted backgrounds and soundtrack. As players explore the area, they will encounter spirits that they will have to deliver messages to. Some spirits may live in areas blocked by puzzles, so players will have to solve these in order to advance and unlock new areas and characters.

Tiny Echo looks to be a storybook without words, leaving it up to players to interpret what events and actions mean in the undergrowth. The developers want players to be able to take in and enjoy all of the creative aspects of the game while playing, putting their own spin on the wordless story, so take a stroll and deliver some letters in Tiny Echo.
