The mother has “lived” at Hacienda ever since a near-drowning incident left her brain-damaged over 14 years ago. She requires 24-hour care, meaning many of the facility’s staff would have had access to her room, and is incapable of communication or voluntary movement.

Since the birth, Hacienda has adopted a policy requiring female employees to accompany male employees to female patients’ rooms, most likely mandated by the Arizona Department of Health Services, which said in a statement that it has implemented “heightened safety measures” that include “increased staff presence during patient interactions” as well as increased surveillance of patient care locations.

A Hacienda spokesperson said the facility was cooperating with law enforcement and regulatory agencies on the “unprecedented matter,” as well as reviewing its own “processes, protocols, and people.”

Hacienda nearly lost its Medicare funding in December 2013 after ADHS found at least one staff member was abusive to multiple patients while several staff members were deficient in reporting patient allegations of abuse by staff. One staff member had been fired for making repeated inappropriate sexual comments to patients. Hacienda was given a year to correct the “defects” in staff training and staff treatment of patients or be dropped from the Medicare roster, and they reported they had done so less than a month later.

Hacienda has a one-star rating – “much below average” – on Medicare.gov, the official database of programs affiliated with the government-funded healthcare program.

While Facebook failed to name the victims of their censorship, the Free Brazil Movement (MBL), announced that their accounts were “arbitrarily removed” by the social network. They labeled accusations against them as “absurd,” noting that over half a million of their followers were affected by Facebook’s decision.

“Freedom of expression and democracy are pillars of the MBL. We will use all of the legal, political and media resources offered by democracy to recover the blocked pages and undo this persecution,” the group said.

MBL came to prominence in 2015, when it got involved in protests against the leftist then-President Dilma Rousseff and the Workers’ Party. Founded by political activist Kim Kataguiri, it is socially conservative and economically libertarian, describing itself as a “Brazilian Tea Party”. The group says it spreads “liberal and conservative ideas – which is not a crime.” It accused Facebook of political and ideological bias against right-wing groups and leaders around the world.

“Facebook’s goal is to silence right-wing political voices and critically interfere in this year’s elections. A socialist and foreign entity is attacking Brazilian democracy,” MBL coordinator and founding member Robinho Nunes tweeted.

In addition to the MBL, Facebook’s action also affected the Brazil 200 movement, created by entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Flávio Rocha. “It is unacceptable to remove the page of Brazil 200,” Rocha declared on Twitter, noting that Facebook’s decision amounts to violence. “Even at the time of dictatorship this was absurd,” he added, calling on lawmakers to address the issue.

The backlash against Facebook’s decision, which came months before the October general election, prompted Attorney General Ailton Benedito de Souza to seek a written explanation from the Silicon Valley-based company. The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) has asked Facebook to comply with a request that mandates the company to provide a list of all affected pages and profiles as well as the justification for their suspension.

However, Will did gain support from some viewers who noted that in 2018, most people at home would also be “second-screening” the show, and that the star was only trying to boost the show’s social reach.

One fan defended: “Why are ppl 2nite makin comments re @iamwill filming on his phone during #TheVoiceUK. He’s done this since year 1. Why is tonight such a big deal. (sic)”

Another wrote: “It’s 2018 and the majority of people watching #TheVoiceUK right now are also using their mobile phone at the same time.

“@iamwill is just trying to connect to as many people as possible. Twitter is a great way to share content and that is what he’s doing.”

After being inundated with complaints, Will took to social media to explain his actions.

He posted: “I may be on my phone while on #theVOICEuk but I’m not phone…

“Real emotions… I listen with my ears and tweet with my fingers… Welcome to 2018…”

Will previously got himself in hot water last year after wearing headphones during an interview with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning.

Eamonn asked the Black Eyed Peas frontman: “Why are you wearing headphones in your ears?”

Will replied: “Oh, because I have phone calls, so I don’t have to take my phone out.”

Ruth then teased that he could be on the phone during the interview without them realising.

Will then pointed out: “You guys have in-ears right?”

Ruth then joked about the production team sitting in the gallery, saying: “We have very irritating people in our ears all the time!”

LDPR members said the policies of Gorbachev’s Perestroika and the subsequent market reforms launched by Yeltsin “worsened the situation inside the country and Russia’s positions on the international arena” and urged the current generation of Russian politicians not to repeat the mistakes of the past. 

The lower house committee for regulations and control rejected the draft address, but noted that its members “shared the regrets of the document’s authors.” The committee experts wrote that the address lacked particular examples of wrong and harmful decisions made by Yeltsin and Gorbachev or some proof that the dramatic events of this period of Russian history came about as a result of these decisions.

In earlier comments on the LDPR’s initiative, Gorbachev branded the move an attempt to increase tensions within Russia. The first and only Soviet president also promised to take no reciprocal steps against the LDPR but said that the party should be dissolved over actions which create strife among citizens.

The 30-second Snapchat video posted on YouTube and Instagram shows part of the altercation where the La Mesa school police officer slams the teenage girl to the ground. The video quickly went viral and angered students, parents and community members.

The teen was charged with refusing to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest.

In a Facebook Live video uploaded Monday, hundreds of students are seen walking out of class after the first bell, criticizing police for unlawful use of force on the teen. Chants of “Justice for Bri” are heard.

“I was kinda shocked. I didn’t know who it was at first. I was confused and I was disgusted that it happened on my campus,” student Leah Blake told KNSD-TV.

“We demand that the officer be removed from his position as school resources officer,” said Blake, adding that policies should be put in place to make sure this does not happen again.

Blake described the student involved in the incident as a classmate who has been a kind and sweet girl in the four years she’s known her.

Blake, who was not at school at the time of the incident, saw the video on Snapchat.

La Mesa police department LT. Chad Bell said the police department is in possession of the video.

The incident took place Friday, January 19 when the teen was arrested for refusing to obey an order to leave schools grounds, and resisting arrest, according to police.

Police said staff at Helix High School had requested assistance from school police when the student, who was on suspended status, didn’t comply with staff to leave campus.

After she refused to follow police orders to leave campus, she was arrested and place in handcuffs.

“As they were walking, the student became non-compliant on two separate occasions and made an attempt to free herself by pulling away from the officer,” said La Mesa Police Department in a statement. “To prevent the student from escaping, the officer forced the student to the ground. After the student agreed to quit resisting and attempting to escape, the officer assisted her up and walked her to his patrol vehicle.”

Police said the student “suffered minor abrasions.” Paramedics said she did not required treatment. The officer was not injured.

Police are investigating the use of the force and the overall incident. The school would not respond to questions but the teen’s parents are due to meet with school administrators.

BEIJING (AP) — Authorities in northern China’s coal country this week demolished a well-known Christian mega-church, underscoring long-standing tensions between religious groups and the officially atheistic Communist Party.

Witnesses and overseas activists say paramilitary People’s Armed Police forces used excavators and dynamite on Tuesday to destroy the Golden Lampstand Church in the city of Linfen in Shanxi province.

ChinaAid, a U.S.-based Christian advocacy group, said local authorities planted explosives in an underground worship hall to demolish the building, which was built with nearly $ 3 million in contributions from local worshippers in one of China’s poorest regions.

The church, with a congregation of more than 50,000, has long clashed with the government. Hundreds of police and hired thugs smashed the church and seized Bibles in an earlier crackdown in 2009 that ended with church leaders receiving long prison sentences.

At the time, church leaders were charged with illegally occupying farmland and disturbing traffic order by getting together, according to state media.

There are an estimated 60 million Christians in China, many of whom worship in independent congregations like the Golden Lampstand. Millions of Christians, Buddhists and Muslims also worship in state-sanctioned assemblies.

But the surging popularity of non-state-approved churches has raised the ire of local authorities, wary of any threats to the party’s rigid political and social control.

Freedom of religion is technically guaranteed under China’s constitution, so local authorities are often seen as using technicalities to attack unregistered churches. Charges of land or building violations and disturbing the peace are among the most common.

The state-run Global Times newspaper, citing an unidentified local official, reported Wednesday the official reason for the demolition was that it did not hold the necessary permits.

Religious groups must register with local religious affairs authorities under Chinese law, the report said. The church was illegally constructed nearly a decade ago in violation of building codes, it said.

Pictures distributed by ChinaAid showed the church’s steeple and cross toppled in a large pile of rubble.

A local pastor at a nearby church, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he saw large numbers of paramilitary police on Tuesday blanketing the area around the church, which was being taken apart by heavy machinery.

He later heard, but did not witness, a loud explosion, the pastor said.

The Golden Lampstand Church was built by husband and wife evangelists Wang Xiaoguang and Yang Rongli as a permanent home for their followers.

The couple had been preaching around Linfen since 1992, establishing congregations in improvised spaces such as factory dormitories and greenhouses.

While authorities did not block the church’s construction, they later cracked down. The couple and other church leaders were sentenced to prison on charges including illegally occupying agricultural land and assembling a crowd to disrupt traffic.

The former Strictly contestant spoke out about dual standards for male and female TV hosts as she backed a campaign to address gender inequality in the workplace.

It highlights, in particular, the impact office dress codes can have on employees’ wellbeing.

Rani said female TV hosts tended to “dress in fear of criticism” for wearing something inappropriate and were accused of looking “tired, sick or hung-over” if in casual dress.

“Female TV presenters,” she said, “always feel under pressure to dress or think about clothes in ways our male colleagues don’t have to.

“I’m always conscious of making a mistake or wearing something that could be considered inappropriate because I know that’s what everyone has their eyes on. Men don’t have that pressure.”

The 40-year-old, who grew up in Bradford, had her own show on Sunrise Radio, aged 14.

After university she became a BBC researcher then appeared on top TV shows, such as Watchdog, The One Show and This Morning before Countryfile. She told the campaign, headed by recruitment site totaljobs, she had even been targeted by online trolls.

“I receive lots of unhelpful comments on social media every time I wear something considered inappropriate by some. I can’t even wear a pair of shorts on Countryfile without it motivating some sort of hysterical debate.

“It’s very annoying because I know my male colleagues can happily wear shorts without becoming the centre of attention or being judged in one way or another.”

But she said she did not take the comments too seriously as she believed viewers were more interested in what she had to say than what she was wearing.

Rani said women wanting promoting still felt pressured to dress in a certain way: “Unfortunately sometimes women do feel the need to dress a particular way in order to climb the ranks.

“It’s a very old fashioned idea and we need to ditch it and leave it in the past.”

The problem, she said, comes from a generational gap between older men and younger women – not unlike the TV series Mad Men, set in advertising in the 1960s.

“In some working environments we still have this old fashioned almost Mad Men expectation of women to dress a certain way.”

It was not just about “criticising men” over the issue of dress she said: “They’re often acting unconsciously or behaving in a way which society has taught them is fine to behave, but it is time to change.

“Men can play an active role in encouraging this change and step in on unacceptable behaviour.”

Canadian porn star August Ames was found dead Tuesday in California. She was 23.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the death of Ames, whose real name was Mercedes Grabowski, but declined to give a cause pending notification of family members.

Her death, however, occurred just days after she experienced intense criticism on Twitter for saying she refused to work with men who have also appeared in gay pornography, someone she labeled as a “crossover” performer.

After posting her statements on Twitter, Ames was hit with a barrage of comments accusing her of being homophobic. She defended herself, pointing out that she liked women, and said she was merely making a decision on who she has sex with, noting it is “my body, my choice.”

She posted her last tweet the next day, saying only “fuck y’all.”

Ames’ husband, Kevin Moore, told AVN that his wife “was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.” He also asked for privacy.

Ames has more than 270 film credits since she started performing in 2013, and was a nominee for this year’s female performer of the year for the upcoming 2018 AVN Awards in January.

Upon learning of her death, fellow adult entertainers took to social media to express their shock and sorrow.

Fellow performer Kissa Sins tweeted: “You were always there for me when I was feeling sad or sensitive and I’ll always love you. I’m sorry I didn’t do more to help. RIP Auggie.”

Google Maps has often convinced UFO enthusiasts that the signs of extraterrestrial activity are hidden around the world.

A landing site in Poland was believed to have been an alien landing site until it was revealed as a man-made building.

Eagle-eyed viewers have since spotted what appears to be a grounded UFO hidden in a forest of Romania, just outside Timisoara.

Many think it could be the sign of alien activity.

The “UFO” appears to be hidden in the trees outside of the city in a deserted part of the city.

It shows a circular disc with holes that are synonymous with how UFO’s are imagined to look.

Sadly, on closer inspection it appears to be a simple water tower instead of a vehicle from outer space.

This didn’t deter online users from poking fun.

One reviewed it on Google writing: “Amazing. Its Real, Been There And Seen It.”

It has since been called Alien UFO Resort on the destination on Google Maps.

Another review didn’t see the funny side and explained: “It is just a water filtering facility built in the architectural style of Wiener Secession.”

Another sighting of a UFO has previously been spotted in Australia.

An old triangle was spotted between Badgingarra National Park and Wongonderrah Nature Reserve in the middle of a field.

Dotted with lights, it was labelled “Black Triangle” on Google Maps and had an eery glow.

The triangle has since disappeared and is now called “The Hidden Triangle” as users think Google is trying to hide it

They wrote: “No use trying to hide the evidence.”
