Rep. Nancy Mace says there's pressure on Republicans to vote to impeach President Biden if the party wins the midterms and gains control of the House.
Mace was on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday, speaking with host Chuck Todd who asked: "Do you expect an impeachment vote against President Biden if Republicans take over the House?"
The South Carolina congresswoman answered, "there's a lot of pressure on Republicans to have that vote, to put that legislation forward. I think that is something that some folks are considering."
To which Todd responded, simply: "Wow."
On Wednesday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said a GOP-majority Congress might try to impeach the president every week. Kinzinger was referring to Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has made impeaching Biden part of her official platform.
Last year, several Republicans filed impeachment articles criticizing Biden's withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, his immigration policies, and his administration's eviction moratorium.
When asked by Todd how she would vote if impeachment was on the floor, Mace said she would look at the evidence and vote constitutionally.
"I will not vote for impeachment of any president if I feel that due process has been stripped away for anyone," she told Todd.
Mace said if the party chooses to hold this vote, she believes it will be divisive. "Which is why I pushed back on it personally when I hear folks saying they're going to file articles of impeachment in the House," she said.
While Mace voted against impeaching former President Donald Trump, she was critical of his role on January 6, telling CNN that Trump's "entire legacy was wiped out" in the aftermath of the Capitol riots.
Before January 6, Mace was a supporter of Trump's and even worked for his campaign in 2016.
During the interview with NBC, Todd asked the congresswoman if she would back Trump's presidential bid in 2024.
"I'm going to support whomever Republicans nominate in '24," she said.
Representatives for Mace did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

A federal judge said she could not accept the Justice Department's claim that Donald Trump does not "have a possessory interest" in some documents that were seized from Mar-a-Lago just because they're classified government records without further review by a third party.

Cannon of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida appointed a special master to review more than 11,000 documents seized from Mar-a-Lago in August and rejected the DOJ's appeal that would have allowed the department to continue to use a set of classified records as part of its criminal investigation during that review.
As part of her reasoning, Judge Cannon wrote in her decision that her court can't accept the department's claims that Trump should not have had the classified documents until the review by a special master is completed.
"The Court does not find it appropriate to accept the Government's conclusions on these important and disputed issues without further review by a neutral third party in an expedited and orderly fashion," Cannon wrote.
Raymond Dearie, a former Chief Judge of the US District Court for the Eastern District Court of New York, was appointed to be the third-party reviewer. Cannon has given a deadline of November 30 to complete the review.
In her decision, Cannon, who was appointed by Trump, also wrote that she couldn't accept the Justice Department's argument that Trump doesn't have a "plausible claim of privilege" of the classified documents without a third-party review.
Legal experts have previously raised doubts around Cannon's judgment that Trump may have executive privilege over the records since the government owns the documents and since the Biden administration has declined to assert privilege over them.
Cannon's order does however allow for the government to continue to review the documents "for purposes of intelligence classification and national security assessments."

Bill Gates talked in a recent interview with The Guardian about being targeted by conspiracy theorists during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it's led to some people even approaching him in real life.
"There have been a few cases where I've run into people in public where they are yelling at me that I'm putting chips into people and that's kind of strange to see: 'Wow, those people really exist, it's not just some robot sending out crazy messages,'" Gates told the publication.
The billionaire said he thinks the conspiracy theory that he put microchips in the coronavirus vaccine is "starting to die down," but said "it's tragic if it made people more reluctant to trust vaccines or to wear a mask where they should have."
Conspiracy theories surrounding vaccines predate the coronavirus pandemic. The conspiracy theory that the COVID-19 vaccine is injecting a microchip connected to 5G mobile networks that can track people, started on 4plebs, a community-run channel on 4chan.
In June, when Microsoft shut down Internet Explorer, Gates quipped on Twitter that the service had to be shut down because Microsoft "ran out of microchips" from putting them in the coronavirus vaccine.
In his interview with The Guardian, Gates joked that Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to the president of the United States, "missed out" on most of the targeting because people around the world "didn't know who Tony was." In the US, the targeting mostly focused on both men.
Gates said he didn't want to make too much fun of the conspiracy theories around the vaccine because it's "pretty serious stuff."
"The innovations on how you get the truth have to be as interesting as the big lie — we face that in a number of domains, and I haven't seen as good a solution as I think we'd all like to see," he said.

Shawna Katz lost her partner during the pandemic and has been leaning on her “grief sister” for support. As COVID-19 restrictions lift and allow people to reconnect in-person, one psychologist says those who endured tragedy alone during COVID-19 may now be dealing with “suspended grief.”

Matt Widmann, a 35-year-old commercial fisherman from Alaska, knew that he had a problem when he was spending more time trading stocks than with his family. He would trade for around seven hours a day, starting at the crack of dawn and ending mid-afternoon, usually too worn out from the rollercoaster of wins and losses to spend time with anyone.
Then, this past February, he hit a breaking point. Widmann says he traded some same-day expiration contracts, and wound up losing nearly his entire portfolio – around $ 30,000 in life savings, split among shares of Nvidia, Tesla, and other stocks popular with retail traders.
"I was a mess. I was just in tears on the couch. I was like, I don't wanna live anymore," he told Insider.
Now five months "sober" from the stock market, Widmann realizes he's part of a greater wave of retail traders who developed a problem akin to gambling addiction over the two years of the pandemic market's wild ride.
But help is expensive, limited, and oftentimes, led by clinicians who don't know much about the stock market themselves. That's leaving some addicted traders feeling discouraged – and sometimes, diving back into the stock market after treatment.
There is no official diagnostic criteria for day-trading addiction.
Experts say that lack of classification is one of the biggest barriers for retail traders like Widmann who are seeking help. Lacking specific criteria for their condition, they turn to gambling addiction treatment centers, which have seen an influx of day traders.
"I view [day trading] as gambling," Dr. Timothy Fong, the co-director of UCLA's Gambling Studies program, told Insider. "I've had a lot of patients where I say to them, 'You've developed harmful consequences because of your behavior related to finances. So for insurance purposes, I'm letting you know, I'm putting this as a gambling disorder diagnosis.' Because there is no financial trading disorder, right? We don't have that at all."
A spokesperson for Gamblers' Anonymous New York told Insider that the organization has seen around a 15% increase in the past year from day traders who have called to ask for help, and in the past two years, Fong estimates that his program at UCLA has seen about a sixfold increase in day traders who have called, up from five a month to about one per day.
For those looking for it, help doesn't come cheap. Algamus, one of the oldest gambling rehabilitation centers in the country, offers an inpatient program that costs $ 16,000, near the low end for such programs. Similar treatment can cost $ 5,000-$ 45,000, according to Algamus' founder, Rick Benson, and most insurance providers refuse to cover treatment if gambling disorder is the primary diagnosis.
On top of the costs, Fong believes there are limitations to how much gambling treatment centers might help day traders, since those programs aren't specialized for people who are addicted to the stock market.
"We think that the same principles that work for gambling…for machines and poker, sports betting, craps, things like that, should work for a financial trading addiction. But you can't just automatically assume that," Fong said.
He also noted that therapists are often unfamiliar with the stock market themselves, limiting the support they can offer.
"A lot of times when I ask patients, I don't understand what they're trading. I don't understand the mechanism of where the money went," he admitted.
Widmann says the therapist he saw was only able to provide mood support.
"I don't think that they actually understood specifically what was going on with me," he said. "They understood, 'okay, you're having some financial depression, you're like having some sort of compulsory behavior,' but I don't think they understood the intricate nature of [retail trading], to be involved in something that both professionals engage with and is rife with degenerates."
That contrasts with the sense of community to be found online, in places like the popular Wall Street Bets forum, where traders share a self-deprecating but mutual understanding of the highs and lows of investing. Widmann believes that's part of the problem, and recalled the pressure to trade created by these forums and the thrill of being in a Discord chat with fellow traders communicating in real time.
"It grew to be so compulsory because… you're in this group of people, and you want to be a part of what they're doing."
Even now, Widmann isn't certain he's out for good.
"It's definitely crossed my mind again where it's like, if I get a big enough position, maybe I'll dabble in it again. So I can't say that it's a hard no." Widmann said.
That desire to dive back into the market even after treatment poses one of the biggest challenges for providers in the field, Fong said, and Algamus' Benson added that it's one of the main differences between day traders and gamblers.
"[A day trader] may live in the delusion that he's really just investing," Benson said.
He says one of the clinic's biggest challenges is convincing traders that they were not "professional investors," Benson said, and showing patients that their "bad investment year" is actually something pathological. That involves a mix of gambling education, individual therapy, and group therapy, which he says is particularly important.
"Gamblers are terrific liars and bullshitters. Whereas in group therapy, the group works against that," Benson said.
Dan Field, a gambling therapist who is creating a treatment program specifically for day trading addiction, speculates it has to do with a discomfort in accepting reality.
"They have that itch to get the money back and they think this is just a temporary pit stop," he told Insider. "So I try to speak to them as a counselor and as a friend. I care about you and this is why I'm giving you this hard advice: you have to sit with these losses for now," he tells his patients.

Bored with buying art to hang on your walls? Then maybe you'd like to consider bidding for the skeleton of a dinosaur when it comes up for auction next month.
The iguanodon skeleton was discovered in Colorado in 2019 while a road was being built on private land.
The skeleton was restored by a team of Italian paleontologists and will be sold in Paris on October 20 by the auction house Giquello, which expects it to sell for up to $ 500,000.
"Zephyr" is 4.2 feet high and 9.8 feet long. Auctioneer Alexandre Giquello told Reuters it is perfect for a living room – though perhaps he was thinking more of a French chateau than a typical home.

Not everyone is happy that such specimens are passing into private ownership rather than going on display in a museum, for example.
Insider previously reported that a dinosaur skeleton that was only partly comprised of genuine bones was sold by Christie's for just over $ 12 million in May. Paleontologists say that ultra-rich buyers are increasingly paying huge sums to own a unique artifact.
Steve Brusatte, a paleontologist at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, told Insider: "Another week, another dinosaur auction. We seem to be in a cultural moment where dinosaur skeletons are a trendy memento for wealthy buyers."
"I can only hope this fad will pass, and these irreplaceable objects of our natural heritage will cease being commodities affordable only to the elite," he said. "Museums just can't normally afford the high prices that many dinosaurs are generating, so scientists and the public are losing out."
Brusatte told potential buyers: "If you're wealthy enough to buy a dinosaur, may I please suggest that you donate it to a museum where it can be conserved, studied, and put on display to inspire children and the public."
Reuters
According to Britannica, iguanodons became the second species to be described scientifically as a dinosaur in 1825 – after the megalosaurus.

Buster Keaton was one of the biggest names in early cinema, famous for his physical comedy. He thrived on an ability to improvise these gags; Keaton grew up as a vaudeville performer, and spent his childhood improvising slapstick routines with his father onstage. As a Hollywood filmmaker, Keaton continued to rely on improvisation for his comedy — but this required him to follow one simple rule.
Keaton got his start as an entertainer traveling in a company alongside Harry Houdini. It was here that he learned to improvise fluidly and hilariously. His first time in front of a camera was in Fatty Arbuckle’s “The Butcher Boy.” “[Arbuckle] only had to turn me loose in the set and I’d have material in two minutes, because I’d been doing it all my life,” Keaton explained (via A Hard Act to Follow).
When it came to his own films, Keaton made sure there was space for on-the-spot creative decisions: “Well as a rule, oh about 50 percent you have in your mind before you start the picture, and the rest you develop as you’re making it,” Keaton told Studs Turkel. “We never even thought of writing a script, we didn’t need to.”
Silent film stars often left lots of room for improvisation in their work — in fact, they would often approach a film with only the beginning and end in mind. As far as Keaton and his counterparts were concerned, the path from point A to point B was half of the journey. “When we get the start and the finish, we’ve got it, because … the middle we can always take care of. That’s easy.”

Keaton favored extreme gags over narratives, which is why he chose to make “Sherlock Jr.” “I laid out a few of these tricks, some of the tricks I knew from the stage,” he recalled (via A Hard Act to Follow). But he realized he couldn’t “do it and tell a legitimate story because they’re illusions … it’s got to come in a dream.” He chose the premise of a projectionist that falls asleep on the job so he could totally suspend reality. Keaton was all about maximizing his creative freedom.
Through creative storytelling, Keaton was able to improvise heavily for many years. Silent cinema left things so open-ended that the Hollywood legend would not even begin to work with a script until “The Cameraman” in 1929. However, when MGM and other studios moved exclusively into talking pictures, cinema changed forever. “New York stage directors, New York writers, dialogue writers, and the musicians union all moved to Hollywood,” Keaton recounted to CBC. The new writers brought with them a new style of writing, one that Stone Face described as “joke-happy.” “They don’t look for the action, they’re looking for funny things to say,” he lamented.
Keaton and the other kings of physical comedy struggled when silent films fell out of fashion — the film industry had new priorities. Keaton would go on to make several sound films, including the 1931 hit “Sidewalks of New York” (which was actually the actor’s most commercially successful film). Still, the actor lost the creative freedom he had enjoyed as a silent film director, including the freedom to improvise.
