Families of those slain in a recent stabbing rampage on James Smith Cree Nation will gather this week to bury their loved ones. For the wider community, the hard work of healing has just begun.
]]>
There’s been no shortage of hard-hitting storylines so far in NCIS: LA season 12, from Marty Deeks (played by Eric Christian Olsen) losing his job to the kidnap of Sam Hanna’s (LL Cool J) daughter. However, in a series of adorable clips to one another on Instagram, Kensi Blye star Daniela Ruah and Nell Jones actor Renee Felice Smith have teased their characters will be working closely together in the next few installments.
In a short series of clips complimenting her NCIS: LA co-star, Smith joked to her 161k Instagram followers: “Daniela and I are starting a fan club for each other okay?
“It’s called the Dani and Renee fan club or the Renee and Dani fan club and we’re just gonna be being fans of each other and I think it’s really cool.
“After we do scenes together – and we have a few really nice scenes coming up and we don’t often get to do that.”
The Nell Jones star didn’t stop there as she heaped praise onto her colleague.
READ MORE: NCIS LA season 12: Sam’s daughter Kam ‘set up’ own kidnapping?
“So it’s been a really special treat especially for me because I get to watch her work and she is like an actual genius person who can do anything I’m pretty sure,
Smith concluded: “So this is the beginning of the Dani/Renee, Renee/Dani fan club where we fan girl about each other.”
Reciprocating the kind words of her NCIS: LA co-star, Ruah shared a few clips of her own.
And she too detailed how Nell and Kensi’s future on the show will see them spending much more time together.
So what is it the two could find themselves working so closely together on?
Well, there are plenty of cases about to land on the OSP’s dead.
And arguably most pressing is the kidnapping of Sam’s daughter Kam (Kayla Smith).
The promo for the next episode hints Callen and Sam will pull out all the stops to track her down, from high-speed car chases to bone-crushing fights.
And beyond that, Callen will land in a rather tricky situation when he heads to Russia.
The synopsis for episode 11, which is Ruah’s directorial debut on the show, confirms Callen will run into the arm of the law during his venture abroad.
But will he be freed with Nell and Kensi’s help? Or do the two have something else up their sleeves?
NCIS: LA returns to CBS on February 14.
“I am so happy I can make you proud every week. Thank you!”
According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, while HRVY is the favourite to win, Maisie’s odds of winning are chalked at 5/1.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It looks as though Bill peaked too soon and despite having headed the betting since pretty much day one, the comedian has finally been leapfrogged by fan favourite HRVY, who looks a shoo-in for this year’s Glitterball Trophy.”
He added: “Maisie’s odds have been slashed at the perfect time though and there’s every chance she closes the gap on Bill and HRVY in time for the final.”
Strictly Come Dancing Final airs Saturday on BBC One at 6pm.

And while she may not have given too much away as to who her partner is, the first glimpse was more than enough for Strictly fans who are eagerly awaiting news on this year’s couple.
Whoever Maisie’s partner is revealed to be, it looks like they’re in pole position to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
In latest odds from bookmakers Betfair, the EastEnders star is a 7/4 frontrunner to win the entire series before even taking to the dancfloor.
Betfair spokesperson Darren Hughes said: “Get out your glitter disco-balls and be ready to break a leg, as Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens on the BBC this Saturday night,

A source told The Sun On Sunday: “All the male pros really want to partner with her, not just because she’s young and fit, but she’s also proven herself to be a brilliant dancer.
“She has a massive fan following, which often ensures contestants get far in the competition.”
Express.co.uk reached out to BBC for comment.
The 19-year-old actress will be joining 12 fellow contestants as they take to the ballroom next month, but she is no stranger to the glitz and glam of Strictly.
Maisie took to the dance floor in a Children In Need special in 2019, where she won alongside professional dancer Kevin Clifton.

Norman Smith joined the BBC in 1986 as a local radio reporter, before moving up to parliamentary correspondent in 1993. He is known for presenting Today and Yesterday In Parliament on BBC Radio 4 and he has been assistant political editor since 2014. Smith announced on his social media he would be leaving the BBC, saying: “Folks…that’s it from me. Thanks for putting up with me over the years.
“It’s been an absolute privilege. I’m off now for some longer, much longer dog walks.”
The BBC Press team thanked him for his contribution, saying: “We wish @BBCNormanS all the best on his last day.
“’Norman is a wonderful colleague, incredible journalist and Westminster will not be the same without him. We’ll miss him enormously.’ – @KatySearle.”
According to the Evening Express, Smith said he wanted to “go out and do things beyond politics and journalism while I still had my health and fitness”.
He said: “I kind of take the view there is only so much Covid and Brexit you can witter on about.” His salary is not known at this time.
He added: “This is great, it’s been a blast, it’s fun and it’s fantastic but really as a grown up adult I cannot spend the rest of my life standing on this balcony pontificating about politics.”
Fans have thanked him on Twitter, with one saying: “There are many top notch BBC correspondents but Norman Smith is among the very best of the best.
“Always insightful, he can untangle the most complex political story and communicate it clearly and concisely.
“Unfailingly reliable, he always delivers. A huge loss to the Beeb. #r4today.”
Another fan said: “Goodbye to Norman Smith. I will miss the friendly face, the teriffic oratory and delivery, often with wit and humour, scything through the froth of politics.
“He came across as a nice human being. Good luck, good walking.”
Viewers are keen to find out how much Smith was earning in his role, but his salary is not known.
Many MPs have thanked Smith for his “fair” reporting, and he will be sorely missed.
On Red Table Talk Friday, Jada Pinkett Smith broke her silence, confirming rumors of a romantic relationship between herself and singer August Alsina.
At the top of the episode, which also featured the actress/host’s husband Will Smith (embedded below), Pinkett Smith confirmed she got into “a different kind of entanglement” with Alsina. Smith then clarified it was “a relationship.”
Pinkett Smith explained that her family’s connection with Alsina began over concern for the singer’s health, which occurred around the same time that Pinkett Smith and Smith were going through a rough patch. “We basically broke up,” she said.
“I was done with you,” Smith said through laughs. “We decided we were going to separate for a period of time… I really felt like we could be over.”
“I was in a lot of pain and I was very broken,” said Pinkett Smith. “In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself.
“Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself, and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity, and I was really able to do some really deep healing,” she said.
While she was soul-searching about herself and her marriage, Alsina was the one who broke off all communication, which she called “understandable.” The two haven’t talked since, she said.
Pinkett Smith then said she and Smith have “gotten to that new place of unconditional love.”
The actress/host teased the news in a July 2 tweet writing, “There’s some healing that needs to happen… so I’m bringing myself to The Red Table,” leaving viewers and online commentators with nothing but their own speculation.
In a June 30 interview with The Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee, Alsina claimed he sat down with Smith and had a conversation after he and Pinkett Smith were introduced by her son, Jaden Smith, in 2015.
“Due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership… he gave me his blessing,” Alsina said. “I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it, so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.
“I love these people. I really, genuinely do,” Alsina said of the Smith family. “I’ve never been in love in that kind of a way. Walking away from it butchered me. I’m shaking right now because it almost killed me. Not almost… it did. It pushed me into being another person, my newer self. It broke me down.”
Pinkett Smith’s tweet was the first time she publicly alluded to Alsina’s claims, having previously denied the story through her representation. She had also denied rumors that she and husband Will Smith were in an open relationship.
Following Alsina’s statements, Smith also denied (through reps) that he gave “permission for the affair.”
Red Table Talk premiered in May 2018 on Facebook Watch and features Pinkett Smith’s mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and her daughter, Willow. The streaming talk show focuses on a wide range of topics like motherhood, racism, addiction and love, with each woman bringing her unique perspective and candid personal life stories to the table.
Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been married since 1997. They have two children, Jaden, 21, and Willow, 19, while Will’s son from a previous marriage, Trey, is 27.

BBC Breakfast saw Rachel Burden and Jon Kay at the helm for Saturday morning’s edition of the programme and, as ever, the pair were joined by a host of guests throughout the programme and at one point, Iain Duncan Smith, former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. However, as Burden probed him on various topics such as hospitality reopening and members of the public returning to work, BBC viewers were left slamming the MP on social media after his appearance.
This morning’s instalment saw many questions raised about the prospect of more lockdown restrictions being eased in the coming weeks.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has set out the date of July 4 for establishments such as pubs and restaurants to reopen – but this has been met with some criticism.
Today, Conservative MP Iain Duncan Smith spoke to host Burden and backed the measures, insisting: “What we have to do is learn to live with the risk.”
However, those watching at home were left unimpressed with the former Secretary of State’s comments this morning, calling him “out of touch.”

One viewer wrote: “That mediocrity Iain Duncan Smith saying people need to gauge risk for themselves. Yes, but to do that we need clarity on the facts and potential consequences and that clarity has been woefully missing from his government.”
Another commented: “Out of touch Iain Duncan Smith blatantly putting economics before public health on #BBCBreakfast “It depends on which scientists you speak to” well that’s true of anything! You can always scrape the barrel and find a flat-earther who will tell you something you like #coronavirus.”
A third added: “Iain Duncan Smith on the BBC basically saying we need to get people back to work to make people like me more money.”
“Just watching Iain Duncan Smith on @bbc news. So in pubs you may well have to wear a face mask until you are seated at your screened off table with your own group. Doesn’t sound very appealing to me. Are people really that desperate to go out and have a drink?,” quizzed another.
“Because, the Oxford scientists and many others don’t actually think air transmission is anything like what other scientists say it is in terms of effect – they think it’s about 1.3 percent, rising at most to 2.6 percent but if you wear face masks, that lowers it to 85 percent, gets it down to about 0.5 per cent.”
He began to discuss the science behind the measures, adding: “The honest truth is – even on SAGE – scientists don’t agree, many scientists criticise the original measures because they’ve all been done in laboratories and they don’t replicate reality outside and think that, even outside the house there’s next to no risk at all.
“And, the truth is, that if you want to ask they scientists this they will constantly tell you of risk, but of course there’s risk – the virus isn’t suddenly going to disappear and we all know that.
“What we have to do, is learn to live with the risk and understand where and who it is it must effects,” he told Burden, before outlining once more who was most affected by the virus – such as over 75s.
As the interview went on, Burden asked Duncan Smith – who was the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions between 2010 and 2016 – questioned him for his thoughts on Brits going back to work as unemployment figures continue to rise.
She noted how nearly three million people are unemployed in the UK and whether systems such as Universal Credit would be able to cope, to which the MP said: “First of all, you’re right in this sense. I was talking about the wider nature of what two metres does and how it shuts us down in all sorts of critical areas.
“But the economy is teetering at the moment, so we’re supporting lots of people though the furlough scheme and through loans and these are, of course, going to have to come to an end.”
Duncan Smith warned: “If we don’t get the economy moving now – which is why the two-to-one metre [rule] is so critical – we’ll simply see companies calling it a day and putting people onto unemployment and that will change massively and I don’t want that to happen, for very good reasons…”
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
Duncan Smith continued: “We had to report huge swathes of the stuff that went onto social media to the police – threatening, angry, death threats, threats.
“I just take the view that by and large, Twitter is an abusive medium, and I don’t engage by that regard, but others do.”
The 65-year-old then addressed Stewart’s case directly, admitting he was “sorry” to see such a veteran in the world of broadcasting dismissed in such a way.
He added: “I’m sorry about Alastair Stewart because I liked him very much as a broadcaster.
