The latest wave of accusations against Russia over alleged government-ordered hacking looks very much like a coordinated media attack timed with a NATO meeting of cyberwarfare, the Russian ambassador to UK told RT. On Thursday, the UK and the Netherlands claimed that they had foiled cyber attacks by Russian government hackers while the US indicted seven agents of Russian military intelligence for a series of alleged hacking attacks. Canada joined in the chorus, saying that “malicious cyber-operations” also targeted the nation. The media storm that immediately ensued is simply part of a coordinated attacks on Russia that lack proper proof and are meant to smear its reputation, believes Russian ambassador to Britain Alexander Yakovenko. “There is a meeting of NATO countries in Brussels today and they are discussing cyberwarfare. NATO countries are basically planning to create their own cyber forces,” Yakovenko told RT, referring to a meeting of NATO defense ministers in the Belgian capital. Among other things the ministers agreed to share cyber capabilities while NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg used the occasion to condemn Russia for its alleged hacking operations. [NEW] Today, several Allies have offered their cyber capabilities to #NATO. This is a big step forward. These cyber capabilities will make us as strong in cyberspace as we are on land, at sea and in the air – SG @jensstoltenbergpic.twitter.com/KWitD5Dbx5 — Oana Lungescu (@NATOpress) October 4, 2018 “We see a well-coordinated campaign to discredit Russia. Of course, from my point of view that’s unacceptable,” the Russian diplomat said. Yakovenko added that there was a pattern of behavior by Western nations, which used the media to amplify anti-Russian allegations while providing little or no evidence at all to back the claims. And after the media hype is over, whatever case they have against Russia is not shown to the public for scrutiny. “We have seen this with the [Aleksandr] Litvinenko case. We know how it ended up – with most of the information concerning the [poisoning] classified. Nobody has any access to that,” the diplomat said. He added that the calls by some British lawmakers and government officials, who said Russia must be punished by cyberattacks that would hurt its economy, are concerning. “They are calling for something that contradicts the international law,” Yakovenko pointed out. Russia believes that whatever concerns other nations have about its actions should be discussed at talks with facts at hand and in a serious manner and not broadcast through the media in the way that is happening now. The IDF shared an edited video of Najjar on both its English and Arabic spokesperson Twitter accounts on Thursday. “Hamas’ use of human shields must stop.” it wrote in English. “Razan al-Najjar is not the angel of mercy that Hamas propaganda attempts to portray,” the Arabic spokesman Avichay Edraee’s tweet reads. The Arabic version of the video begins with an image of Najjar with angel wings and a halo. The video, which has an ominous soundtrack, claims Najjar was “incited by Hamas,” and it shows footage of Najjar throwing a gas canister. pic.twitter.com/kJ89kf9PN2 — افيخاي ادرعي (@AvichayAdraee) June 7, 2018 You guys wouldn’t have to spend a bunch of money on propaganda if you just stopped killing medics and innocent people. Probably save a lot of time and hassle too. — Doubting Thompson (@DoubtngThompson) June 7, 2018 Another clip shows an interview with Najjar – which has been carefully edited to exclude half of her sentence. “I am Razan al-Najjar. I am here on the frontlines and I act as a human shield,” the English subtitles read. The video then cuts to text reading, “Hamas uses paramedics as human shields,” before encouraging people to share. READ MORE: 4 killed, hundreds injured in Naksa protests in Gaza Debunking However, the video turned out to be made from a heavily edited original. The first scene, which reportedly shows Najjar throwing the gas canister, clearly shows her throw it away from the people she is standing with, and nowhere near the fence. The canister falls in the grass mere meters away from the woman. She is wearing a surgical mask at the time, although it has not been confirmed that Najjar is even the woman in the video. Shameless Terrorist @AvichayAdraee👈😡posted a video of #RazanNajjar holding for a brief moment a little gas canister given to her & then threw it away one meter distance right in front of her feet! — Sonia Mota (@SoniaKatiMota) June 7, 2018 READ MORE: Debunked: Video of ‘fake dead Palestinians’ exposes pro-Israel propaganda The next clip featured in the video, the interview with Najjar, is also not as it seems. The IDF decided to cut mid-way through the interview with Al Mayadeen, so viewers have no idea what the second half of her sentence is. The full sentence was: “I am Razan al-Najjar. I am here on the frontlines and I act as a rescuing human shield to protect the and save the wounded at the frontlines.” Lol They cut off Razan's interview mid-sentence. I guess when the whole world lets you murder innocent civilians indiscriminately, your propaganda game doesn't really need to be 10/10. https://t.co/Njj8vPeWEy — Kamala Harris is a Cop (@BethLynch2020) June 7, 2018 "Human shields" is what the IDF calls the innocent people they murder. Pass it on. https://t.co/2rMJuSV4oh — BK Lounge (@BKLounge_Tweets) June 7, 2018 Najjar was shot in the chest while she was wearing her medical uniform last Friday. A preliminary probe by the Israeli army found soldiers did not mean to fire at Najjar, and that she was not a target. However, two weeks ago, the IDF shot 19 medical personnel in Gaza in a single day, including Moussa Abu Hassanein, who was fatally shot in the chest. Canadian doctor Tarek Loubani was among the medics who were shot that day, and he maintains they were targeted by Israeli forces. In her interview with Al Mayadeen, Najjar also said, “With all my strength and determination and whatever risks I will continue my career and I will save all the injured, so that they return and defend our land.” Her words suggest that she had no intention of dying as a human shield.” Israel often accuses Palestinians of partaking in ‘Pallywood,’ which they claim are fake videos and images designed to gain attention from Western media. However, Israel has been caught doing the same thing it accuses the Palestinians of, only in their case, it is an effort to minimize their crimes against Palestinians. Israel has also been found to use Palestinians as humanshields themselves. Israel initially claimed it didn't deliberately target the 21 year old Palestinian medic Razan Najjar. In a coordinated social media campaign, it is now trying to retroactively justify her murder. This is the behaviour of a sick, twisted and murderous regime. https://t.co/2XY4079IQh — Hassan (@haaxci) June 7, 2018 No one believes an oppressor propaganda. French development studio Quantic Dream has released a second official statement on Tuesday, in which it reiterates its position against previous allegations made against them in the French press.
Last month, some French media outlet — most notably Le Monde, one of the two biggest national newspapers — published reports in which they depicted an unhealthy studio culture, specifically pointing out the seemingly inappropriate behaviour of Quantic Dream heads David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

The presenter slammed the former Spice Girl for spending thousands on skin care products during a discussion on This Morning.
The 55-year-old was told by presenter Alison Hammond, 42, that the fashion designer spends more than £1,200 on beauty products a day.
She said: “If you want to look like Victoria it’s going to cost you £1,204 a day. She spends £648 on skin care products which is unbelievable [and] £366 on makeup.
Understandably, Phillip was shocked by the amount Victoria spends on beauty products and questioned Alison’s figures: “It can’t be a day, it can’t be a day. That’s eight grand a week!”
Before Alison interrupted, adding: “And [she spends] £124 on body lotions and £66 on hair products.”
Mocking Victoria, Phillip Schofield replied: “She must be smearing it all over the bathroom. She’s got to get a little bit more of a budget. She only needs a little pea size bit.”
Of course, his comments were all meant in jest as he giggled away with Alison and co-host Holly Willoughby, 36, moments later.
Also during the show, Phillip and Holly were interrupted by a vibrating product.
The duo were stunned when the Foreo UFO, a product designed to help users achieve blemish-free skin, began vibrating loudly in the studio.
Although Holly burst into a fit of laughter, Phillip didn’t see the funny side to it and proceeded to pick up the product to switch it off.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10.30am.

Peter Jackson did not cast Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino in “Lord of the Rings” after a “smear” campaign by Harvey Weinstein.
Jackson said he considered the actresses, who have both accused movie mogul Weinstein of sexual misconduct, for roles in his JRR Tolkien mega-franchise, but passed them over on the advice of Miramax.
The Oscar-winning director told stuff.co.nz:
“I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs. This was probably in 1998.
“At the time, we had no reason to question what these guys were telling us – but in hindsight, I realise that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing.
“I now suspect we were fed false information about both of these talented women – and as a direct result their names were removed from our casting list.”
Jackson and wife Fran Walsh developed the films with Weinstein’s Miramax in the 1990s but production was eventually moved to New Line Cinema ahead of their launch in 2001.
Jackson described the Weinstein brothers as “second-rate Mafia bullies,” adding: “They weren’t the type of guys I wanted to work with — so I haven’t.”

In a statement sent to a number of publications, a spokesman for Weinstein denied that he and his brother had any sway over the casting of “Lord of the Rings.”
“Mr Weinstein has nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson. However, as Mr Jackson will probably remember, because Disney would not finance the ‘Lord of the Rings,’ Miramax lost the project and all casting was done by New Line,” he said.
Jackson’s own comments to stuff.co.nz echoed this. “Although his name had to be on the ‘Lord of the Rings’ credits for contractual reasons, he was not involved in the movies we ended up making,” the director said.
Both Judd and Sorvino thanked Jackson for speaking out against Weinstein. The latter explained that she cried because she realised that the producer “derailed my career.”

Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying. There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure. Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest. I’m just heartsick https://t.co/ljK9NqICbm
Judd tweeted:

The drama surrounding embattled venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar has taken yet another turn.
The PR company that Pishevar is suing has filed a motion to dismiss. And in that motion the company makes all sorts of claims about the motives behind the lawsuit, including allegations that the lawsuit was being used to suppress women from speaking out against Pishevar with allegations of sexual misconduct.
Specifically, Pishevar has sued Definers Public Affairs, alleging it is conducting a smear campaign against him.
Tim Miller, the head of Definers’ Silicon Valley office, has continuously denied all allegations and called Pishevar’s claims “delusional.” On Wednesday Definers formally responded by filing a motion to dismiss.
Definers is known in Washington, D.C. as a Republican-leaning opposition research group. Opposition research is often thought of in terms of digging up dirt on political opponents. Definers recently opened a Silicon Valley office, mostly to offer public relations and government regulation consulting services.
Pishevar filed the lawsuit shortly before several damaging news stories about him were published. This included a news story about being arrested in London when a woman accused him of rape. Pishevar was released, never charged with a crime and the police said they didn’t have enough evidence to pursue it.
Since then, five women came forward alleging sexual misconduct by Pishevar, recounting allegations such as groping or showing them lewd pictures.
On Tuesday, Pishevar announced he was taking a leave of absence from all of his business interests including his investment firm, Sherpa Capital, as well as his role on the board at Virgin Hyperloop One, and the boards of his portfolio companies.
Besides denying that it had anything to do with a smear campaign against Pishevar, Definers also claims that Pishevar “has used this suit to harass and intimidate one woman whom the press has named as one of his alleged victims by serving her with a subpoena to depose her.”
However, there have been oddities involving all of this. While Pishevar fully admitted that the London arrest had taken place, it turns out that a police report circulated to journalists was fake, according to the London Police. Business Insider has also seen emails from anonymous tipsters using hard-to-trace email addresses involving Pishevar.
In other words, there is some evidence that someone has been attempting to get reporters to look into Pishevar. But, so far, as Definers points out, Pishevar’s lawsuit hasn’t included much in the way of proof that links Definers to such deeds.
One person close to the situation told Business Insider that the main purpose of the suit would be to dispose people.
Pishevar is perhaps best known as an investor in Uber who has vocally supported former CEO Travis Kalanick. He’s also invested in companies like Airbnb, Slack, and many others.
Pishevar declined comment on this motion to dismiss.
When commenting about the motion to dismiss, Miller doubled down: “Our response indicates once again that Mr. Pishevar’s claims were delusional and entirely without merit. We had no knowledge of and communicated with no one about the events Mr. Pishevar lays out in his complaint. He has completely fabricated that Definers or anyone working for Definers had any role in this matter,” Miller said.
Here’s the full copy of the motion.

In 2014, Terry Pegula, the owner of the Buffalo Sabres, agreed to buy the Buffalo Bills for an NFL-record price, $ 1.4 billion. But a new report suggests the more interesting — and perplexing — fight was behind the scenes between the other two bidders, Jon Bon Jovi and Donald Trump.
According to a story in GQ by Ben Schreckinger, Trump secretly backed a grassroots campaign to turn the people of Buffalo against Bon Jovi’s group, which included investors from Canada, in an effort to “scare them off.”
The former Trump adviser and Buffalo resident Michael Caputo told GQ that he secretly helped lead the campaign. Since he was a known associate of Trump, Caputo recruited local fans to serve as the faces of the group that called themselves “12th Man Thunder,” including a double-amputee cancer survivor, who served as the leader.
“Trump knew he couldn’t outbid the Canadians,” Caputo told GQ. “I had it all set up with neighborhood guys who lived by the stadium.”
The group rallied against Bon Jovi’s group based on the speculation that they would attempt to move the team to Toronto if they won the bidding. At the time, the Bills were playing one home game each season in Toronto. The group’s antics included “Bon Jovi-Free Zones” in local bars and a “Ban Bon Jovi” movement to rid the area of his group’s music.
While the group did receive widespread attention, including a New York magazine article titled, “Jon Bon Jovi Is the Most Hated Man in Buffalo,” the benefit to Trump’s efforts to buy the team is not clear.
The trust of the late owner Ralph Wilson was expected to accept the highest bid regardless of where the new owner wanted the team to play. Because of that, public sentiment wouldn’t have played a role in deciding who won the bidding. In addition, if Bon Jovi’s ultimate goal was to move the team to Toronto, it is not clear why he would be concerned about people in Buffalo hating him.
Charles Krupa/APBut maybe the most perplexing part of all of this is simply that Bon Jovi’s group was never considered the favorite to win the bidding, in large part because NFL rules limited how much his group could offer. In addition, Trump admitted that his bid was not going to compete with Pegula’s bid.
When the first bids were submitted, Pegula’s was reported to be $ 1.3 billion, Bon Jovi’s was $ 1.1 or $ 1.2 billion, and Trump’s was was believed to be $ 1.0 billion.
In order for Bon Jovi to have been considered the principal owner, NFL rules stated that he had to contribute at least 30% of the sale price in cash. According to the Toronto Sun, Bon Jovi had an approximate net worth of $ 500 million at the time. In order for the group to increase their bid to $ 1.4 billion, Bon Jovi would have needed to contribute $ 420 million of his own money. It was unlikely that the group would be able to top their bid without pushing Bon Jovi to the background.
As for Trump, he seemed unlikely to up his bid. Trump told Greta VanSusteren on Fox News at the time, “I’ll be bidding. Many other people will be bidding. And I would say the chances are very, very unlikely [that I will win] because I’m not gonna do something totally stupid. Maybe just a little bit stupid, but not totally stupid.”
The fan group also got into a fight with Texas A&M University which threatened a lawsuit over the use of “12th man” which is trademarked by the school. According to Caputo, the embarrassment of threatening a double-amputee cancer survivor with a lawsuit led to a settlement in which the school gave the group $ 25,000 and they changed their name to “Bills Fan Thunder.”
Once Trump submitted his bid to buy the Bills, he was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and was “forbidden from participating in public outreach efforts related to the sale,” according to GQ. According to Caputo, at that point, Trump said the group was on its own. From GQ:
Charlie Pellien, a Buffalo local who co-founded the group said that keeping a lid on Trump’s involvement was a challenge. “It was all behind the scenes and we weren’t even allowed to mention his name because of the agreement that he signed,” Pellien told me. “I was bursting at the seams to tell people, ‘Hey, this was Donald Trump’s idea.'”
With Trump having removed himself from the picture, Caputo took the gloves off. “We immediately made it far more aggressive and anti-Toronto than the president ever envisioned, mostly because we didn’t have to worry about getting him crossways with the NFL,” he said.
Don Wright/AP
In the end, Bon Jovi was removed from his group in an effort to increase their bid, but they still came up short and Pegula purchased the team. Meanwhile, Trump found a different occupation to fill his time and some in the NFL believed his recent attacks against the league were sparked, at least in part, by his failed bid to buy the Bills.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Every year in the UK, over 3,000 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer and 300,000 women will suffer cervical abnormalities.
Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women aged 35 and under.
Now experts have revealed testing for the sexually transmitted disease human papillomavirus (HPV) along with smear tests spots more women at risk of cervical cancer.
Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by HPV, a very common virus passed through any type of sexual contact.
While there are 100 different types of HPV, many of which are harmless, two strains HPV 16 and HPV 18 are known to be responsible for 70 per cent of all cases of cervical cancer.
These types of HPV infection don’t have any symptoms, so many women won’t realise they have the infection.
A new study of over 450,000 women found those who had a HPV test along with a smear test receive a faster, more complete diagnosis of possible cervical precancer.
Smear tests look for the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells on the cervix.
Professor Jack Cuzick from Queen Mary University of London said: “This study shows that knowing a woman’s HPV status can help determine her likelihood of needing additional procedures, and prioritise immediate treatment and medical resources to the women who need them most.
“In those tested, virtually all high-grade disease occurred in the 43.1 per cent of women who were HPV positive, allowing clinical resources to be focused on women who need them most.
“These data provide essential information for cervical screening guidelines and public health policy.”
The study used data from the New Mexico HPV Pap Registry in the United States.
It was the first comprehensive evaluation of HPV testing on the long-term outcomes of women who had received a borderline abnormal Pap test result.
A total of 457,317 women were included in the study and 20,677 women or 4.5 per cent received a borderline abnormal result through a smear and were followed in the study for five years.
Some of the women with borderline abnormal Pap smear results had an HPV test.
HPV testing led to a 15.8 per cent overall increase in the detection of cervical precancer.
Virtually all cervical pre-cancers were detected in women who tested positive for HPV, suggesting HPV testing to be a good additional screening method after the Pap smear, researchers said.
Colposcopy, which is a medical examination of the cervix, could then be focused on women who would need it most: those with a positive HPV test.
However HPV testing of women resulted in 56 per cent more biopsies and a 20 per cent increase in surgical treatment procedures performed.
Most of the additional biopsies were for low grade lesions which could have regressed, indicating some overtreatment due to HPV testing.
Professor Cosette Wheeler from the University of New Mexico (UNM) Comprehensive Cancer Centre added: “The benefits of HPV testing outweigh the harms observed but it’s important to understand and quantify the harms as well.”
Symptoms of cervical cancer include changes to bladder and bowel habits, blood in your urine, loss of bladder control, loss of appetite and weight loss and severe pain in the side.
The study was published in JAMA Oncology,
