In addition to handing out dozens of fan-voted awards on Sunday, the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards also welcomed some of the biggest acts in music for two very different performances. First up, Justin Bieber took the stage for a dramatic medley of songs from his PCA-nominated album Changes, which you can watch via the video above. His two-part performance began with “Lonely,” for which he was joined by collaborator Benny Blanco. After belting out some powerful notes of sadness, the Biebs transitioned into “Holy,” a slightly more upbeat single. Bieber entered Sunday’s ceremony with seven nominations: Male Artist of 2020, Song of 2020 (“Intentions” and “Stuck With U”), Album of 2020 (Changes), Music Video of 2020 (“Holy”), Collaboration Song of 2020 (“Holy” with Chance the Rapper) and Social Celebrity of 2020. Prior to this year’s event, the singer had only won a single People’s Choice Award (“What Do You Mean?” snagged Song of 2016), while being nominated for nine others. The evening’s second performance came courtesy of Chloe x Halle, who woke the audience back up during the show’s sleepy second hour with their new single “Ungodly Hour.” Watch some of it go down in the video below: LETS GET INTO CHLOE X HALLE pic.twitter.com/DdcNkxoumA — 𝙻𝚎𝚐𝚘𝚜 | 𝖢𝗅𝗈𝗐𝗇 𝙴𝚛𝚊ˣ ⁴ Not only does this mark Chloe x Halle’s debut as People’s Choice performers, but it’s also the first year the grown-ish stars received a nomination, gunning for Group of 2020 against the likes of Blackpink, BTS, CNCO, Dan + Shay, 5 Seconds of Summer, Jonas Brothers and Twenty One Pilots. Your thoughts on this year’s People’s Choice performances? Hit PLAY on the videos above to watch both musical moments, then grade them below and drop a comment with your full review.

Before walking into this movie, the only thing I knew about Lizzie Borden was that she murdered her parents. But in Lizzie, director Craig William Macneill (The Boy, Channel Zero) and screenwriter Bryce Kass offer a different take on the still-unsolved killings that totally rewrites Lizzie’s narrative, casting her as a righteous heroine instead of an evil murderess. With superb performances from stars Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart, this intimate drama serves as a fierce response to abuse and oppression and a seductive peek into the inner life of one of history’s most notorious killers.
In late 19th century Massachusetts, the well-to-do Borden family hires a live-in maid named Bridget (Stewart), an Irish woman with a big heart but little formal education. Lizzie (Sevigny), the family’s strong-willed youngest daughter, bonds with Bridget almost instantly, and their relationship blossoms from kind pleasantries into something much more sensual, much to the dismay of Lizzie’s domineering father Andrew (Jamey Sheridan). Meanwhile, Andrew is having business problems due to a railroad crisis, and after receiving some threatening letters, he begins entertaining the idea of putting his scumbag brother (Denis O’Hare) in charge of his finances because he doesn’t trust that his daughters are smart or capable enough to handle things themselves. But it’s not just Andrew’s financial schemes that grants Lizzie the moral high ground to eventually kill him – he’s also a serial rapist. By the time the two heroines strip naked to carry out the murders, Andrew has done plenty to establish himself as someone the world would be better without.
Sevigny is stellar in the title role, calmly rebelling against accepted norms and dishing out absolutely withering disses to high society brats and her oppressive family members alike. Stewart, an actress who’s long been underestimated due to her Twilight franchise past, adopts an Irish accent that was spot-on to my ear, and her connection with Sevigny is largely in the eyes – furtive glances between the two fly more than Lizzie’s beloved pet birds, who eventually factor into the story themselves. Both Sheridan and O’Hare bring a palpable sense of menace to their characters, playing villains that are almost cartoonish in their cruelty. Their presence, an unnerving score, a slowly-zooming camera, and the creaky, period-appropriate house that the filmmakers shot in all provide a suffocating claustrophobia for the women, who long for nothing more than to break free from their metaphorical chains.
My preconceived notions about Lizzie Borden were so hard-wired that I’d never stopped to consider if there might be more to her story, and the thing about stories like these throughout history is that they are almost always crafted by men, baking their biases into the tales as they’re passed on to the next generation. Lizzie made me wonder how many other women’s stories have been warped by societal storytellers over the years, and though the movie is set in 1892, it feels especially current in that way.
While the film’s eventual depiction of the murders is especially brutal, the fact that it depicts a woman fighting back against her oppressors and the catharsis that comes with it is another element that feels directly tied to our current post-Weinstein climate. “We live in this world, not another,” Bridget hopelessly tells Lizzie in one scene. And though they do ultimately reside in a man’s world, Lizzie Borden’s refusal to accept her dispiriting status quo is something that – though extreme in her execution – provides an inspiring message for those who may find themselves trapped in similar circumstances today. Fascinating and ferocious, Lizzie takes a legend hardened by history and blows it up from the inside, forcing the viewer to pick up the pieces and recontextualize this figure in a whole new light.

Your ascent of the spire starts simple enough: every step of the way, you encounter a most terrible foe. Get ready to fight, draw some cards, attack, and block. Basic combat is simple: you play the cards in your hand to either damage your opponent or build up enough blocking power to withstand their next attack. Your enemies are nice enough to signal how much damage they are going to cause in the next turn, so combat is entirely deterministic.
However, every time an enemy lays slain at your feet, you get to pick a new card for your deck – and lo, we’re in deck building paradise, where each new fight brings new, exciting options to the table. These new cards may shake up the way you play, adding buffs, debuffs, and useful synergies. Of course, this makes combat much more complex and varied, but that’s the good part of every deck building game, right?
While the simple joy of building up a powerful deck of cards is the main attraction here, everything about Slay The Spire plays into that, from well-designed enemies that cannot be defeated with regular attacks to extremely powerful artifacts which change some ground rules and force you to adapt accordingly.
Mighty bosses try to stop you at the end of every chapter, and those really put your skills and your deck to the test. You’re also able to unlock some new cards as well as an extra character for subsequent playthroughs, which adds a nice sense of progression to your journey up the spire. Even though the game is still an early access title, there’s a wealth of gameplay options available to you.
And if you die? Well, it’s back down to the very beginning with you, you fool! But then, you probably deserved it, anyway. In the end, it doesn’t matter. Slay the Spire’s combat feels so incredibly good that you won’t mind repeat trips up those lofty heights.
You can purchase Slay The Spire from Steam for $ 15.99. You can also visit the game’s website and follow developer Megacrit on Twitter or Facebook.

Durant capped his spectacular first season with the Warriors by bringing home that coveted NBA championship he joined Golden State last July so determined to get, scoring 39 points in a fast-and-furious, Finals-clinching 129-120 victory over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 on Monday night.
“It’s just a great group of guys, great community, great arena, great fans,” Durant said. “I’m just so happy to be a part of it.”

Stephen Curry added 34 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals as Golden State closed out its second title in three years after squandering a 3-1 lead a year ago to the Cavs to miss a repeat. That stung ever since, and even Durant understood, because he gave up the same lead to the Warriors a round earlier with Oklahoma City.
“We learned from everything we’ve been through,” Curry said during the trophy celebration. “Our perspective, being blessed to play on this stage three years in a row, it’s for these fans, for our organization, for these families. To be back here, bring ol’ Larry back home, I’m just excited to do something special. I’m ready to do it again.”
James, who in 2012 with Miami beat the Thunder in Durant’s only other Finals, wound up with 41 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists.
“I left everything on the floor every game,” James said after averaging a triple-double in his eighth Finals.
Kyrie Irving followed up his 40-point gem in Friday’s Game 4 with 26 points but shot 9 for 22.
This time, King James gave way to KD, who was the NBA Finals MVP 10 years after being picked second in the NBA draft behind Greg Oden.

“Well I’m not happy he won his first, I’m not happy at all,” James said. “… Getting that first championship for me was like having my first son.”
Durant drove left, right and down the middle, knocked down 3-pointers, dished and dunked. He hit a 17-foot fadeaway over James early in the fourth quarter, then assisted on a 3-pointer by Andre Iguodala the next time down as the Warriors pulled away.
Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP, came up big again with his 2017 post-season-best 20 points off the bench in a testy, tightly called finale to this trilogy Finals that everyone had stamped on the calendar from the moment Durant departed Oklahoma City to join Curry and Co. last July.
The Warriors won in 2015 before the Cavs made their historic comeback last year. Then it was Golden State’s time again, with Durant as the prized addition.
Durant shot 14 for 20 and Curry — the two-time reigning MVP who took a backseat as the new big star got acclimated — finished off a brilliant post-season. Not to mention a healthy one after his 2016 injuries.
Draymond Green stayed on the court in a game that featured three technicals on one play 3:08 before halftime. David West fought for the ball with Irving, then they got tangled up and Tristan Thompson entered the fray and he and West went at each other face-to-face. West, Thompson and J.R. Smith received techs after a replay review.
Green had sat out this very game a year ago, suspended because of flagrant foul point accumulation after he swiped at James’ groin in Game 4. He had 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the clincher.
“I had a letdown last year,” Green said. “If KD was the consolation prize to lose, thanks for that loss, and we’re champs this year.”
With a much-improved bench led by Iguodala, JaVale McGee, Shaun Livingston and West, that “Strength In Numbers” slogan that has become such a staple the past two seasons shined all season long, from Durant’s 19-game absence late in the regular season with a left knee injury to assistant coach Mike Brown stepping in for 11 post-season games to lead the way while Steve Kerr was ailing.
During the trophy ceremony, Kerr said, “I want to say a special thank you to Mike Brown and my whole coaching staff.” The reigning NBA Coach of the Year returned for Game 2 of the Finals following a six-week absence from the bench.
On Monday, Golden State used a 27-4 second-quarter run to take charge — just after it appeared Durant should have been called for a third foul on a basket by James — and got to celebrate right at home in Oakland surrounded by a deafening home crowd waving yellow rally towels and holding up phones to shoot video and photos as the final minute of the clock ticked away.
The buzzer sounded and gold confetti began to fall.
The Warriors became the first Bay Area team to capture a championship at home since the A’s finished the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the 1974 World Series.
A year ago, these Warriors fell short after a record-setting season that included a 24-0 start and 73 victories at the end to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ wins mark.
Durant even hugged James. And that was just the start.

Still on the court, he and Curry looked into each other’s eyes, did a little shake then slapped hands several times.
Two playful superstars who found a way to coexist through all the questions and constant scrutiny, together and smiling as champions.
]]>You start out with a team of three and literally nothing more than sticks and stones to build with. Taking care of your most basic needs – food, shelter, the obligatory workbench – is your highest priority. Once you’ve established your own little settlement, it’s time to raid ruined cities for necessary supplies, rescue fellow survivors from captivity, and fight back the occasional demonic invasion.
In time, your colony grows and you learn to build more advanced structures and items. In fact, the game’s crafting and researching options are surprisingly deep, opening up to allow for ever more interesting stuff to do and create. You can even branch out and research the dark arts to get to the bottom of whatever caused the apocalypse in the first place.
It’s strangely satisfying to see your people bustle around, making the best of a very bad situation. There’s a neat, customizable system for task allocation in place, ensuring that your people don’t just idle around and wait to be eaten by demons while there’s a nearby tree that needs cutting or some occult rituals that want to be performed.
Judgment’s pausable real-time comes in especially handy when combat begins. Ranged fighters benefit from taking cover, while melee units can gain advantages by flanking their foes. Being able to pause anytime and issue new commands may be the only thing that saves your folks from ending up as demon food.
Judgment sets itself apart from similar city builders by adding combat and exploration to the mix – not to mention a sense of inescapable doom. Granted, with it brownish green graphics it is certainly not the prettiest title around, but that doesn’t matter one bit. It is an utterly compelling game and offers hours of fun despite still being an Early Access title.
You can purchase Judgment from The Humble Store or from Steam for $ 14.99. For more information, visit the game’s website or follow developer Suncrash on Facebook or Twitter.
