Siren‘s third season finale made good on its promise of a full-scale mermaid war, as Ryn and her fellow fish-people vowed to rescue Hope and end Tia’s reign of terror once and for all. Though Tia’s massive army of mer-soldiers appeared to have the upper fin on Thursday, Ryn surprised her enemy (and herself) by coming at Tia with an even bigger squad. The battle was wild, bloody and completely insane, but it was all worth it to see Tia’s lifeless body sink into the dark depths. Not only did Ryn win the battle, but judging by the other mermaids’ reverence, she also earned their devotion. While the battle raged, Ben took advantage of the chaos to infiltrate Tia’s underwater prison, where he managed to successfully rescue Hope. Unfortunately, that required Ben to reveal himself to the mer-guards, and while Ben managed to take out one of them with his crossbow, there were two others ready to pounce. So, what happened to Ben, exactly? That’s the million-dollar question. One of the final shots of the finale was Ben floating in the water, seemingly having his recurring dream of a “normal” future with Ryn and Hope. And even though Maddie urged Ryn to move on with her life, the heartbroken mermaid appears determined to wait for Ben’s safe return… whenever that is. Also worth discussing… * While Ben’s fate remains a bit of a mystery, the finale did give us one confirmed loss: Maddie’s stepfather, Dale Bishop. His body was discovered in the woods during a town-wide sweep for survivors of Tia’s attack. Watching her say goodbye to Ryn was a bummer, but an international work trip might be just what Maddie needs right now. * On a happier note, Xander graduated from the police academy! Yay! * I also appreciated Ted and Helen working together to help the people of Bristol Cove, but my short-lived faith in Ben’s father quickly evaporated when he spoke about his son’s recent developments. “He’s not the boy Elaine and I raised,” Ted said. “He’s something… else.” (First of all, who are you, Oliver Queen? And second, I hope he’s something else. Bring on Mer-Ben in Season 4!) Your thoughts on Siren‘s third season finale? Grade it below, then drop a comment with your full review.

Hawaii’s decommissioned nuclear attack sirens will get another chance to warn Americans of impending atomic doom. After collecting dust for three decades, the warning system has been reinstated amid growing fears of war with North Korea.
The state’s emergency management officials announced that the vintage air-raid sirens will be tested for the first time in nearly 30 years on Friday. The drill will last for 60 seconds and the system’s signature wail will be heard in more than 400 locations across the central Pacific islands.
The public is asked to “get inside, stay inside and stay tuned” if they should hear the sirens.
The potential threat of North Korean missile launches has prompted monthly tests of the warning system, Hawaiian authorities said.
“Emergency preparedness is knowing what to expect and what to do for all hazards,” Hawaii Emergency Management Agency chief Vern Miyagi said in a video message posted online, according to Reuters.
Hawaii is believed to be within range of North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missiles, and would be a likely target if war between Washington and Pyongyang broke out. Washington has adopted a hardline stance on North Korea, which has been exacerbated by an uptick in US military activity around the Korean Peninsula.
US President Donald Trump has often used incendiary language when discussing North Korea and its leader, Kim Jong-un. In one notable case, he chided US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for “wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man,” his derogatory nickname for Kim.
Both Moscow and Beijing have warned Washington against unilateral action to halt Pyongyang’s nuclear program, advocating instead for a diplomatic approach that won’t jeopardize regional security.
Speaking at a press briefing at the UN General Assembly in September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described the verbal sparring between Trump and Jong-un as “a kindergarten fight between children.”

Catwoman, and her human alter-ego Selena Kyle, are expected to return to the big screen in the Suicide Squad spin-off Gotham City Sirens.
The movie will be built around Margot Robbie’s stand-out success as Harley Quinn aand also feature Catwoman and Posison Ivy.
After the spectacular success of Wonder Woman, Hollywood is finally waking up to the power of powerful (and superpowered) female characters.
Baywatch and Quantico star Chopra would follow famous screen beauties Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry and Michell Pfeiffer by slinking into the sexy catsuit.
The new image comes courtesy of renowned artist Boss Logic, who creates stunning representations of what hotly tipped stars will look like in iconic comicbook roles.
He previously created a stunning image of Priyanka Chopra as Batgirl. He also started an online frenzy after posting a sizzling image of Megan Fox as Poison Ivy.
Fan responses to the Chopra image were mixed with one saying: “That’s a terrible idea. She’s not the type to play Selena Kyle.”
Chopra has been touting the idea herself in recent interviews.

Chopra told OK magazine: “My dream part is, now that I’m working in America, I definitely want to do a superhero part.
“When I think of American movies, they’ve had superheroes for eons right?
“So I definitely want to play a superhero and I want to have an interesting super power… Batgirl would be so cool!”
SUICIDE SQUAD STAR MARGOT ROBBIE BARES ALL IN EXPLICIT SCENES
Batgirl will be the first main DC outing for Avengers director Joss Whedon, although he has stepped in to complete Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie after his fellow director pulled out due to personal issues.
All reports and images about Catwoman are still speculation at this point.
Whether she plays a cat or a bat, Chopra certainly has the chops (and the curves) to fill out the latex suit.
Spurred on by the success of Wonder Woman, the DC Extended Universe is in the midst of a full-blown creative pivot. But David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, like Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is a remnant of the earlier era, in which dark and gritty reigned supreme.
Now Ayer, who has been attached to direct the upcoming Harley Quinn-centric film Gotham City Sirens, is facing rumors that he might fall the way of DC’s grimdark tone. But the director has recently stepped forward to say that those rumors aren’t true.
The rumor sprung up that David Ayer was no longer directing Gotham City Sirens after the film wasn’t featured in Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con line-up of nine upcoming DC movies. Mashable reported that Ayer has signaled that he intends to move on from the DCEU, especially after Suicide Squad was heavily reshot and edited after he finished production. It didn’t help that Ayer got in a few veiled jabs at Warner Bros. during his Comic-Con panel for the Netflix series Bright.
“[Bright] isn’t like, some bullshit standard issue studio PG-13 movie,” Ayer said. “I was able to do some real shit here.”
But Ayer, along with his representatives, confirm that he is still attached to Gotham City Sirens. Ayer’s representatives revealed that the project is still in development with a script still being written.
Ayer personally took to Twitter to post a cryptic, but clear, reaffirmation of his involvement with Gotham City Sirens.

Gotham City Sirens is a spin-off of Suicide Squad centered around Harley Quinn, and her misfit band of female criminals including Poison Ivy and Catwoman. Ayer was announced to direct with Margot Robbie set to reprise her role as Harley Quinn back in December, but news around the project has quiet since then.
Ayer, along with Snyder, seemed to be on their way out of the “DC insiders club” Mashable said. Ayer’s Suicide Squad was in line with Synder’s dark, stylish, and hypermasculine tone that kicked off the DCEU, but with the bright and earnest Wonder Woman recently becoming the highest-grossing DC Film, Warner Bros. is looking in a different direction. DC Films co-head Geoff Johns seems to be pursuing the more optimistic vision that Patty Jenkins showcased in Wonder Woman, and new DC hire Joss Whedon has been brought on to put forward that vision. Whedon is currently in the process of extensive reshoots that are reforming Justice League completely after Snyder left due to a family tragedy.
While Ayer may have been more suited for the original vision of the DCEU, he’s indicating that he doesn’t intend to leave Gotham City Sirens anytime soon. Perhaps he can wrangle one of DC Film’s 2020 dates that Warner Bros. has yet to fill.

(Reuters) – A computer hack set off all the emergency sirens in Dallas for about 90 minutes overnight in one of the largest known breaches of a siren warning system, officials in the Texas city said on Saturday.
Dallas’ 156 sirens, normally used to warn of tornadoes and other dangerous weather, were triggered at 11:42 p.m. CDT on Friday. The wailing did not end until 1:17 a.m. CDT on Saturday when engineers manually shut down the sirens’ radio system and repeaters, city Emergency Management Director Rocky Vaz said.
“At this point, we can tell you with a good deal of confidence that this was somebody outside of our system that got in there and activated our sirens,” he told reporters.
The breach in the city of 1.6 million people was believed to have originated in the area, city spokeswoman Sana Syed said in an emailed statement.
Vaz cited industry experts as saying the hack was among the largest ever to affect emergency sirens, with most breaches triggering one or two. “This is a very, very rare event,” he said.
Engineers are working to restart the system and should have it restored by late on Sunday, he said. Until the sirens are running, Dallas will rely on local media, emergency 911 phone calls, and a federal radio alert system, Vaz said.
The hack is being investigated by system engineers and the Federal Communications Commission has been contacted, but police have not been involved, he said.
The sirens went through 15 cycles of a 90-second activation before they were shut down, he said.
The wailing sirens triggered a firestorm of speculation and reaction on Twitter, with Garrett S. Bacak at @theinsidiousone tweeting, “Go home dallas, you’re drunk.”
Glynn Wilcox wrote on @glynnwilcox, “At this point I’m never trusting a #siren again.”

Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, hackers set off 156 emergency sirens in and around the city of Dallas, Texas. According to The Dallas Morning News, the sirens began blaring shortly before midnight on Friday and were shut off and reactivated “more than a dozen times” before emergency workers shut the system down entirely at around 1:20am on Saturday morning, after confirming that there was no actual emergency and that it wasn’t the result of some benign malfunction.
The city tried to tell residents that there was no emergency and not to call 911, but the system was nevertheless flooded with calls. The 911 line received more than 4,400 calls between 11:30pm Friday and 3am Saturday, double the number received between 11pm and 7am on a typical night. At its peak, the call volume and a short-staffed call center pushed wait times as high as six minutes—the city’s goal is to answer most 911 calls within 10 seconds.
City officials have discovered how the system was compromised and are working to keep it from happening again—as of around noon on Saturday, the system had apparently been reactivated, and the city was working to implement “more safeguards” over the weekend. They aren’t disclosing how the system was compromised or who may be responsible, but Dallas Office of Emergency Management directory Rocky Vaz told the Dallas Morning News that it was likely “someone outside our system” but still in the Dallas area.

The hack is believed to have been carried out by someone in the area, city spokeswoman Sana Syed revealed in an email statement.

Given that the hack is said to be the largest ever with regard to emergency sirens, experts are on high alert. “This is a very, very rare event,” Vaz said. While most hacks only manage to trigger a couple sirens at most, this most recent breach was significantly more extensive.
As it stands, city engineers are resetting the alert system, and are slated to complete their work by the end of the weekend. But for now, that means that Dallas residents (all 1.6 million of them), will have to resort to local media, emergency 911 phone calls, and a federal radio alert system should any serious situation arise. This attack goes far beyond an annoying prank.

This isn’t the first time an emergency system has been compromised. Indeed, cybersecurity officials have previously expressed concern over the entire 911 system, which has also proven vulnerable. Currently, the Dallas hack is being examined by system engineers. While the Federal Communications Commission has been contacted, police have not yet been called in.

Following last year’s Suicide Squad, Robbie is setting to star in Gotham City Sirens alongside Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
While fans have thrown names around like Megan Fox, Odette Annable and Emma Stone for the other two Batman baddies, it looks like Catwoman has already been cast.
Bennett posted a picture of Catwoman from the comics, along with one of herself with a short hair cut – similar to Jared Leto’s Joker teases last month.
DC fans will know the feline villain’s alias as Selian Kyle, who sported the shorter look.
Bennett has recently shot to A-list fame after starring in Hollywood blockbusters The Girl on the Train and The Magnificent Seven last year.
The last actress to play Catwoman on the big screen was Anne Hathaway in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Before that the character had a brief flop with Halle Berry’s 2004 solo outing, which won her a Worst Actress award at The Golden Raspberries.
However it was Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic role as Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns that is the incarnation fans look most fondly on.
Gotham City Sirens, which will be helmed by Suicide Suicide director David Ayer, sees Batman at the centre of the story – suggesting Ben Affleck’s Batman will return.
Once official cast announcements have been made, it’s expected that filming will start this summer.
HARLEY QUINN SMITH has said that she could take on her namesake role in Gotham City Sirens – should Margot Robbie be worried?
