In TNT’s “Players Only: Shaq & Kobe” sit-down conversation special, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal re-hash their days as a dynasty with the Los Angeles Lakers and discuss their feud that broke up those teams.

During the 45-minute special, which airs on TNT on Saturday at 7pm ET, Bryant and O’Neal discuss how their teams would match up with some of the other great teams in NBA history, and Bryant seems to bring up the Golden State Warriors.

Shaq stopped by Business Insider to talk about his collaboration with home security technology company Ring, to raise awareness about how homeowners can better protect their property this holiday season. Shaq recently kicked off a campaign with Ring’s CEO Jamie Siminoff around protecting holiday package deliveries – specifically as National Package Protection Day approaches on Nov. 29. Following is a transcript of the video. 

Business Insider: What do you think of Lonzo Ball so far? It’s very early in the season but what do you make of him?

Shaquille O’Neal: He’s playing safe. I would like to see him be more aggressive. The second game, when he scored 29 points against Phoenix, I think that’s the Lonzo Ball that people are expecting and are looking to see.

When you play for a storied franchise such as the Lakers, when great names come before you, people expect a certain way.

The other guy’s playing that way as a rookie, [Kuzma] or whatever it is, but [Lonzo’s] a … definitely to have a great player is one that keeps others involved, so he’s definitely doing that but I would like to see him be more aggressive.

Business Insider: What do you think of his father and his sort of eccentric persona?

LaVar Ball: There’s a lot of other things that’s going on, man.

CNN: No question about it.

LaVar Ball: Let him do his political affairs, and let me handle my son, and let’s just stay in our lane.

Shaquille O’Neal: I think that’s all marketing. You got to respect the fact that he loves his family, he takes cares of his kids, but I think it’s all marketing.

I can look at a person, especially when they’re talking to the camera, if they always end something with a smile, it’s acting. NBA stands for “nothing but acting.”

But, man loves his family, loves his kids, I can’t take that away from him. Some of his tactics are not businesslike but, hey, to each his own.

The Sixers, winless from their first three games, threatened to let a huge lead slip but held on for a 97-86 victory away at Detroit on Tuesday (AEDT).

Australian rookie Simmons was simply superb, notching 21 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists — all career highs — to secure a triple-double in just his fourth game.

It continued a phenomenal starting streak for Simmons’ who on Sunday became just the second player in NBA history — behind the great Oscar Robertson — to begin his career with 10+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists in his first three games. Simmons has now done it four times, closing in on Robertson’s record of six.

Simmons also becomes only the fifth player to start his NBA career with four successive double doubles, and first since Shaquille O’Neal last did it.

Incredibly, Simmons is the first 76ers player to record a triple-double in more than two-and-a-half years.

Further putting the performance in perspective is the fact he managed the feat three months faster than LeBron James managed in his debut season.

He’s also only the third player in NBA history to have a triple-double inside four NBA games and the third 76ers rookie ever to manage one.

Philadelphia centre Joel Embiid had 30 points and nine rebounds in the win as the Pistons slipped to 2-2 to start the season.

TNT’s “Inside the NBA” postgame coverage went off the rails on Tuesday following the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Game 4 over the Boston Celtics as Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley traded barbs.

That in itself is not all that rare, but this particular segment got particularly sidetracked when O’Neal claimed Barkley can’t discuss the NBA Finals because he only made it once in his career (and lost).

Barkley responded that he only made fewer Finals appearances because he wasn’t riding the “coattails” of Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. As O’Neal tried to continue speaking, Barkley continued “And Alonzo Mourning, I forgot about him. And Rick Fox.”

The exchange quickly got heated (in O’Neal and Barkley’s typically humorous fashion) as O’Neal said people question why Barkley is in the Hall of Fame. When host Ernie Johnson asked why it turned so personal, O’Neal said, “Because Chuck always interrupts me. Don’t interrupt me, Chuck, I’m gonna punch you right in the face one day.”

Barkley then threatened, “I’m gonna throw one of these chicken wings at your fat ass.”

The dispute only seemed to cool when neither player would throw food at the other for fear of staining Kenny Smith’s white suit.

Super Bowl Sunday is known for delivering nonstop entertainment, but this behind the scenes picture of Simone Biles and Shaquille O’Neal was an unexpected treat. 

The Olympic gymnast tweeted a picture of herself standing next to the basketball icon, and we cannot wrap our heads around their insane height difference.

Simone Biles is just over 4 feet 8 inches tall, while Shaquille O’Neal is 7 feet and 1 inch tall. The over two foot difference looks even more exaggerated in a photo tweeted out by Biles on Super Bowl Sunday:

Naturally the reactions to Biles’ tweet ranged from shocked to inspired.

One person faceswapped the original picture, making a terrifying “alternate universe” take on the duo:

Another person made a old Disney Channel series reference. Remember “The Proud Family”?

And one creative Photoshopper made Shaq and Simone the same size. Look at mini-Shaq!

Biles was the guest correspondent for Inside Edition during the Super Bowl festivities, and costarred in a pre-game short film called “Ragged Old Flag.” Clearly Biles’ fame doesn’t stop at the Olympics, and we can’t wait to see the young gymnast star take part in more of America’s best sporting events.
