Alex continued: “It’s a really good premise isn’t it?” “Yeah, it’s really, really nice, it’s just normal people, it’s fashion but with a heart,” Rylan added. Alex replied: “Lovely! Fashion with a heart. So, if you’re the presenter of You Are What You Wear…” “Yeah I don’t why,” Rylan remarked as his co-host continued: “I’ve got to ask, what were you thinking with this particular look?” “Now, here is the thing, she’s called Vicky and then she said, and this is what guaranteed a place on the show,” he continued. “Her husband is called Ricky and her sisters called Nicky.” He then went on to joke he would see them again as he added: “Anyway, I’ll see you soon when I’m stockpiling toilet paper.” It comes after the presenter revealed he was concerned he should self-isolate after returning to the UK from a family holiday to Paris. Phillip explained: “Last week I was in Paris. Do I put myself in self-isolation? Do we shut down this place?” This Morning continues on ITV tomorrow at 10am.

]]>The controversial piece, entitled “The time of whores: Russian women disgrace their country and themselves during the Mundial,” has brought Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK) over half a million clicks in less than a day and was widely reposted and discussed on social media.
The author, Platon Besedin, wrote that, while the coaches and footballers praised the organization of the World Cup, and the visiting fans claim that, contrary to what they’d been led to believe about Russia, it turned out to be an awesome country with welcoming people, the Russian women are working hard to maintain the sad stereotype that “they are for sale.”
“Not all of them are like this, of course, but the black sheep bring shame on the whole flock. And let’s be frank, there’s quite a lot of those black sheep,” Besedin claimed, adding that social media is full of videos of interactions between foreign fans and local women, who “behave like shabby broads with low social responsibility.”
“We’ve raised a generation of whores, ready to spread their legs to only the sound of foreign speech. And if they’re also shown a dollar then it’s absolutely perfect for them,” he stated. The author went on to blame such behavior of the country’s females on the “degradation of Russian men, who are both weak and irresponsible.”
The article was initially, provocatively entitled “The Generation of Whores,” but was swiftly retitled in the wake of the public outcry. The few commentators who agreed with Besedin’s narrative were vastly outnumbered by those who decried the article as utter nonsense and a deliberate provocation.
“Women having sex, with whom they want. Just like men. What a horror,” one of the Twitter users wrote. She was backed by a commentator who said: “There is sex in our country, so I don’t understand such statements… Let them have fun with the foreigners, and our guys should rock out with the foreign female fans.”
“Everybody has his own life and own morals. Better go and spend some time with your wife, OK?” another user urged. “Hello, my name is Marina, I am a whore because I’m strolling through Nikolskaya [street],” another girl wrote from the main hotspot for fans in Moscow during the World Cup.
Some assumed the author’s own poor sexual life and jealousy to be the cause of the bitter grievance. “The Russian girls just don’t let him score,” a commentator said, while another suggested that Besedin was “just upset that the prices [for sexual services] spiked and he was going through sexual abstinence.”
“Stop writing nasty things online. Our girls just have a good appetite. A Nigerian for breakfast. A Swede for lunch. And a Korean for dinner. Bon appetit,” another commentator joked.
Many noted that accusing an entire “generation” based on the behavior of a small number of people was vile. “One sees what one wants to see. There are tramps and thieves at train stations, but it doesn’t mean that the country is made up entirely of them.”
Besedin was widely blasted as a provocateur, who purposely compiled his piece in order to “offend and outrage everybody.” Some even suggested his intention was to trigger and incite Russian men to seek confrontations with foreigners – to the delight of international media which, up to now, are struggling to find any scary Russian hooligans.
Many on the web chose to attack the outlet that published the piece, finding it ironic that it appeared in the same paper that “advertised adult services on its pages,” while others suggested that Moskovsky Komsomolets should be taken to court over the offensive publication.
Shortly before the World Cup kick-off, senior Russian lawmaker Tamara Pletnyova had faced criticism, after she warned Russian women against sex with foreign men during the month-long tournament. “Will there be the girls that will meet (with men) and become pregnant? Maybe yes, maybe no, I hope,” the Communist Party member said, suggesting that the kids born from such relations will “suffer” from being raised by single mothers.
In contrast, the chairman of the Russian parliamentary Committee for Sports, Tourism and Youth, Mikhail Degtyarev, claimed that the Mundial is a historic event that should encourage more romance and love stories, with more children born from mixed marriages.
In the World Cup frenzy, food chain Burger King also found itself in hot water, after it had promised Russian women a lifetime supply of Whopper burgers for getting pregnant from star football players. The company quickly removed the controversial ad from social media and apologized, saying that the offer had turned out to be “too offensive.”

It might be called the “shame game” — a parent embarrassing a child on social media as a way of disciplining them for bad behaviour with the hope they will learn their lesson and mend their ways.

“I’m so sad right now. Look at my nephew,” Hamilton, 32, said. “Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is this what you got for Christmas? Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas?
“Boys don’t wear princess dresses!” Hamilton yelled.
Even though the video is no longer available, it still managed to circulate around social media, sparking major backlash.
“I hope @LewisHamilton properly thinks and apologises to his nephew for that video. Thinks about why it is so horrible, and considers donating to a charity which supports LGBT youth,” wrote one Twitter user.
Openly gay British comedian Matt Lucas tweeted: “Today we learned Lewis Hamilton prefers masc[uline] guys.”
“Jesus, how insecure can a person get about his gender and sexuality?” commented another. “Why shouldn’t boys wear princess dresses? You’re fine with girls dressing like pirates … do you just think there’s something wrong with being like a woman?”
Hamilton has not commented or addressed the controversy on social media.

Over the weekend, Gabby Douglas tweeted a message that appeared to criticize her former teammate Aly Raisman. The two-time gold medalist was dragged through the mud on Twitter, with many accusing her of victim-shaming Raisman and others who’ve come forward with abuse allegations against former team doctor, Larry Nassar. Now, Douglas has not only released an apology, but alleged that Nassar abused her as well.
In an Instagram post shared Tuesday, Douglas apologized for her Tweet and shared her story of alleged abuse at the hands of Nassar. She explained that the day before she sent her tweet, she was at an event with girls who look up to her as a role model. Douglas wrote:
I didn’t view my comments as victim shaming because I know that no matter what you wear, it NEVER gives anyone the right to harass or abuse you. It would be like saying that because of the leotards we wore, it was our fault that we were abused by Larry Nassar. I didn’t publicly share my experiences as well as many other things because for years we were conditioned to stay silent and honestly some things were extremely painful. I wholeheartedly support my teammates for coming forward with what happened to them.

Douglas’ post makes her the third member of the 2012 “Fierce Five” gymnastics team to come forward with allegations against Nassar. McKayla Maroney came forward in early October as part of the #MeToo social media campaign. Raisman made allegations against Nassar earlier this month. Nassar is currently facing criminal charges that he molested other gymnasts, along with counts of possessing child pornography. He has denied the charges.
Though Maroney has been silent since coming forward, even deleting her social media accounts, Raisman has continued to criticize both Nassar and USA Gymnastics, which she says went to great lengths to protect the doctor over young female members of the team.
“I kept reaching out saying I wanted to meet with [the private investigator] again, because I had time to process it, I realized it was really bad,” Raisman said in an interview with “Today.” “I was basically told to keep it quiet, and that they were handling it.”
Raisman has been equally vocal on Twitter, writing on Saturday that she would not “put up with any woman or girl being shamed for wanting to wear a skirt, dress, etc.”
“STOP VICTIM SHAMING,” Raisman wrote. “It is because of you that so many survivors live in fear.”

Douglas responded in a now deleted tweet that said, “It is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy. Dressing in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd.”
Many took Douglas’ message as a form of victim-shaming and a slap in the face to her former teammate, including Simone Biles, who competed with both women on the 2016 Olympic women’s gymnastics team.
“Shocks me that I’m seeing this but it doesn’t surprise me,” Biles wrote. “Honestly seeing this brings me to tears bc as your teammate I expected more from you & to support her.”

First, I want to reiterate my apology for responding the way that I did to a comment that one of my teammates posted. I know some of you may take what I’m about to say as insincere, but I still want to provide context.
The day before I commented, I was at an event where hundreds of children and young adults came to spend an evening with me. It’s very humbling when many people look up to you as an example. I take my job as a role model very seriously and I always want to do my best to represent all the best qualities that a role model should embody. I admit there are times that I fall short.
I understand that many of you didn’t know what I was dealing with, but it is important to me that you at least know this. I do not advocate victim shaming /blaming in any way, shape, or form! I will also never support attacking or bullying anyone on social media or anywhere else.
Please forgive me for not being more responsible with how I handled the situation. To every other individual that commented to or about me hatefully, I apologize that I let you down too. I will never stop promoting unity, positivity, strength, being courageous, and doing good instead of evil. I have learned from this and I’m determined to be even better
All my love,
Gabby

Police in India have charged a 26-year-old schoolteacher with ‘abetment of suicide’ after a 12-year-old girl took her own life Monday as a result of consistent harassment which culminated in ‘period-shaming’ in front of her classmates.
“After she experienced menstruation in the classroom, the teacher sent her out with a stern rebuke. The school management did not even provide a sanitary napkin citing non-availability of an ayah (nanny) and just gave her a piece of cloth to use,” a source within the District Child Protection Unit said, confirming the period-shaming The New Indian Express.
“We have also learned that the victim was depressed as one of her classmates said she had shared her intention of committing suicide,” the source added.
The 12-year-old girl jumped from a rooftop Sunday after ongoing problems with her teacher at school.
“Her friends pointed out that she had stained her uniform and so she asked her class teacher Ilakiya for help,” the girl’s mother told The News Minute.
“The teacher did not even take into account that there were boys in the class. She asked my daughter to lift [the] top of her salwar up and then gave her duster cloth to use as a pad,” she said outraged.
The girl left a note but did not mention her teacher by name, police said.
Palayamkottai police said the suicide was the result of the overzealous scolding of the young girl due to poor academic performance.
“Among the 52 students from Class VII, we spoke to all 11 girl students to know more about the alleged menstruation incident,” investigating officer Inspector Periyasamy of Palayamkottai told The New Indian Express.
“[None] of them mentioned it. As the victim claimed her teacher was torturing her, we have altered the case from suicide to abetment of suicide.”
Menstruation is still considered taboo in parts of Southeast Asia, including India.

The American workforce is shaming its largest segment of workers into leaving behind unused vacation days.
A new survey conducted by travel insurance firm Allianz Global Assistance revealed that millennial workers in the United States are suffering the most from “vacation shaming,” a term used to describe work environments where colleagues and bosses indirectly discourage employees from taking time off.
The eighth annual Allianz Travel Insurance Vacation Confidence Index found that as many as 25% of millennials reported feeling nervous when requesting time off from their employers, as opposed to 14% of Gen X’ers and six percent of workers aged 55 and above. Millennial workers (between the ages of 18 and 34) are the most likely to feel guilty, afraid, or shameful when requesting vacation days.
The Vacation Confidence Index also revealed that 48% of millennials are not using all of their paid time off each year, though they’re not alone. An earlier survey from Allianz found that it’s been more than a year since half of Americans (53%) last took a vacation and nearly four in ten workers (37%) said they haven’t taken a vacation in more than two years.

“Many Americans, millennials in particular, are leaving vacation days on the table which could be the result of vacation shaming — the sense of shame, guilt, or other negative feelings received from co-workers for taking a vacation,” said Daniel Durazo, director of communications at Allianz Global Assistance USA, in a statement.
“We were surprised to see that when compared to older generations, millennials more commonly succumb to these negative feelings by choosing not to take all their entitled vacation days. Meanwhile, Gen X’ers place the same amount of importance on vacations, but seem to have the system better figured out because they are the most likely to take all their allotted vacation time,” Durazo added.
This year’s Vacation Confidence Index, which represents the opinions of 1,009 randomly-selected adults living and working in the U.S., was conducted by national polling firm Ipsos Public Affairs on behalf of Allianz Global Assistance USA. The survey defined vacation as “a leisure trip of at least a week to a place that is 100 miles or more from one’s home.”
The findings are consistent with a similar survey conducted by Project: Time Off for its annual State of American Vacation report, which revealed that millennial women are the least likely to use all of their vacation days. Last year’s report introduced the term “work martyr” to describe the tendency for millennials to be work-obsessed and prioritize face time in the office over the need to unplug by taking a vacation.
The State of American Vacation 2017 report released earlier this year stressed that taking a vacation can not only help you recharge and be more productive, but that it can also help you land a promotion.
But not all bosses discourage their millennial staff from using vacation days. Kim Peters, an EVP for workplace consultant Great Place to Work, says that “93% of millennials who answered our Trust Index survey and work at the 100 Best Workplace for Millennials feel that they are able to take time off from work when it’s necessary.”
Among those whose employers made the list of best workplaces, “88% said they feel they work in an emotionally and psychologically healthy workplace,” Peters told Travel + Leisure. “While it isn’t the case for everyone, there are great workplaces where all workers are encouraged to take time off.”
To inspire more Americans to use all of their vacation days, earlier this summer Travel + Leisure launched Operation Vacation, a page of more than 50 travel deals and discounts on airlines, hotels, cruises, and vacation packages.
