Tucker Carlson on Monday night shared his thoughts on the resignation of Blake Neff, his Fox News program’s top writer, who was revealed to have penned racist and sexist messages using a pseudonym. “What Blake wrote anonymously was wrong,” Carlson said towards the end of the hour on Monday. “We don’t endorse those words. They have no connection to the show.” He acknowledged that Blake “fell short” of the standards of human decency, “and he has paid a heavy price for that.” Carlson then directed his ire to the “ghouls now beating their chest in triumph.” To those celebrating Neff’s exit, Carlson said, “righteousness also has its costs. When we pose as blameless in order to hurt other people, we are committing the gravest sin of all.” He then announced that he will be going on a pre-planned vacation. Watch the embattled anchor’s full address below: A Fox News rep told CNN Business that Neff resigned on July 10 from Tucker Carlson Tonight, after an investigation revealed that Neff had been posting on AutoAdmit, a message board notorious for vulgar and offensive content. As “CharlesXII,” Neff made a series of brazenly racist comments, including a June 5 post that read: “Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down.” He also wrote that he “wouldn’t get LASIK from an Asian for free” and commented that “given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep.” Previously a reporter at conservative outlet The Daily Caller, Neff worked for Fox News for four years and was considered Carlson’s top writer. (As Neff once told a Dartmouth alumni magazine, “anything [Carlson is] reading off the teleprompter, the first draft was written by me.”) Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and president/executive editor Jay Wallace confirmed in a statement that Neff “made horrendous and deeply offensive racist, sexist and homophobic comments,” adding: “We want to make abundantly clear that FOX News Media strongly condemns this horrific racist, misogynistic and homophobic behavior…. [A]ctions such as his cannot and will not be tolerated at any time in any part of our workforce” Carlson himself attracted controversy in March 2019, when comments he made years prior on the Bubba the Love Sponge shock jock radio program resurfaced. There, Carlson described women as “very primitive,” called Martha Stewart’s daughter Alexis “c–ty,” and dubbed Britney Spears and Paris Hilton “the biggest white whores in America.” He also said on the call-in program that “Iraq is a crappy place filled with… semi-literate primitive monkeys.” Carlson did not apologize for those years-old comments but instead dismissed the hubbub as “liberal hypocrisy,” asserting that he and Fox News “will never bow to the mob, ever, no matter what.” And despite all that and more since, Tucker Carlson Tonight is the top-rated program on all of cable news, averaging a record 4.3 million total viewers last quarter. Blake Neff, who served as the top writer for Tucker Carlson‘s Fox News show, has resigned after a number of racist and sexist posts written by him under a pseudonym came to light. A Fox News spokesperson told CNN Business that Neff had resigned Friday morning from Tucker Carlson Tonight, after an investigation revealed that Neff had been posting under the pseudonym “CharlesXII” on AutoAdmit, a message board notorious for vulgar and offensive content. As “CharlesXII,” Neff made a series of brazenly racist comments, including a June 5 post that read: “Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down.” Neff also wrote that he “wouldn’t get LASIK from an Asian for free” and commented that “given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep.” Additionally, he authored a lengthy thread mocking a woman he knew as an “Azn megashrew,” leading to other users piling on and abusing the woman for years in follow-up posts. (CNN Business, who first broke the story, has a full, uncensored rundown of Neff’s posts.) Previously a reporter at conservative outlet the Daily Caller, Neff worked for Fox News for four years and was considered Carlson’s top writer. Neff told a Dartmouth alumni magazine that “anything [Carlson is] reading off the teleprompter, the first draft was written by me.” Carlson himself has come under fire in recent years for racist and sexist comments made on air and off, including a 2018 broadcast where he implied that accepting immigrants make America “poorer and dirtier.” In spite of the controversy, Tucker Carlson Tonight is the top-rated program on all of cable news, drawing a record 4.3 million total viewers last quarter.

Riot Games
Months after reports accused the “League of Legends” developer Riot Games of fostering a sexist work environment, two employees, one former and one current, have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company alleging discrimination and harassment.

The controversial post featured a Jack Russell terrier dog sitting at a table in in front of a serving of pancakes. “What to do if you’ve scratched his car or chewed on his slippers: Cook pancakes with jam; put on the table his favorite [IKEA brand] rag; greet him with a faint smile; avoid saying ‘honey, we need to talk,’” the caption for the post read.
— TJ (@tjournal) October 27, 2018
The text did not imply who the dog was meant to depict or by any means hint at the gender of who the “instruction” was written for. Some users, however, took offence, jumping to the conclusion that the post addressed females and the terrier represented women. IKEA was then bombarded with accusations of “cavemen sexism.”
“Do you realize you’ve just compared to a dog at least 50 percent (and likely even more) of your target audience? It’s obvious you’re sexists, yet really dumb ones. I wish you huge losses,” one angry user wrote.
“It’s kind of a woman is a pet, just like a dog? You thought it out well, didn’t’ you?” another one wondered.
Some commentators chose to defend IKEA, pointing out that it was unclear who the dog was representing exactly – since it might actually have been the man receiving the pancake treatment. Others argued that it was wrong to assume the dog’s gender at all, since the whole story might have been actually all about dogs.
Following the outcry, the company said that the whole post was “humorous” and was not meant to offend anyone. The post has been on the IKEA Russia’s page for about a week, yet the company eventually gave in to the online storm and took it down, issuing an apology.
“A recent post on our social media was deemed by some subscribers to be controversial. We’ve studied all your comments and decided to delete it. We extend our apologies to all the users, who deemed the post inappropriate,” the apology reads.
IKEA’s words of regret, however, have only stirred up the controversy further. Some users were apparently offended again, claiming that the company did not apologize hard enough. Some, however, argued that it was the dogs who actually deserved an apology over the whole affair.
Others voiced discontent over IKEA’s decision to cave in to the backlash and delete the post.
“Today you apologize for a post about dogs, and tomorrow you’ll apologize for selling a bed not large enough to accommodate a ‘body-positive’ person, who deems it to be an insult,” a user warned.

Boris Johnson has donned a shirt to show off just how feminist he is. Interesting, considering he once said voting Tory means your wife will get bigger boobs. Unsurprisingly, he’s not the only MP with a shocking record for sexism.
Only a few months ago, Westminster was rocked by a sex scandal so great that inquiries were launched, MPs were stood down, and sadly one man – Carl Sargeant – took his own life as a result of allegations made against him. But who was the one that started it all? Here’s looking at you, Michael Fallon.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon was forced out after multiple claims of sexist behaviour were levelled against him. In November, Fallon found himself in hot water after cabinet colleague Andrea Leadsom complained about his behavior. Leadsom had complained that her hands were cold, and alleged that Fallon said “I know where you can put them to warm them up.”
The Tory veteran had also been accused of putting his hand on a journalist’s knee in 2002… until she threatened to punch him.
During an SNP MP’s response to Johnson’s statement on President Trump’s visa ban in January 2017, Winston Churchill’s grandson Nicholas Soames decided to bark like a dog at a female politician.
Soames was caught making “woof” noises towards then-MP Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh. He was forced to apologize, but defended his actions saying it was because Tasmina was “barking” at the Foreign Secretary. Right.
Labour MP Jared O’Mara, 36, was forced to quit the Women and Equalities Committee after a string of sexist comments from a decade and a half ago came bubbling to the surface. The MP for Sheffield Hallam, who was 26 at time, made the sexist remarks in internet posts, including his desire to have an orgy with members of the pop group Girls Aloud.
He also posted another message claiming that a Pop Idol winner had “only won because she was fat.” He also criticized “the prevailing western tendency to deify fatties” and said that fat people do not “deserve our respect.” What a charming fellow.
Philip ‘men’s rights activist’ Davies has had a plethora of troubling sexist moments. The Tory MP’s highlights include the time he called for the word “women” to be removed from the Women and Equalities Committee. There was also that time in 2015 when he complained that he believes men are unfairly treated by the justice system – saying that more women should go to jail, instead of fewer men chucked in the slammer. Yes, really.
Last week, some in Westminster probably suffered whiplash when he took swipes at female advocates during PMQs. “It’s amazing that noisy feminists are so quiet on this,” he said, after telling the floor how “three very brave women told us their harrowing tales about how they had been discriminated against by Sharia Councils.” But you know what combats sexism? More sexism piled on top. It’s infallible logic really, so lucky we have Davies to mansplain it to us all.

Ah, Boris Johnson: Conservative crony and colorful character with an excellent turn of phrase, some mistake him for an affable guy. Luckily, we have the internet to remind us of some of the more unsavory things the now-foreign secretary has said… just to keep it in perspective.
While a journalist for the Telegraph in 1996, Johnson went to a Labour conference, taking the opportunity to review the quality of “the hot totty” in attendance. He previously said that women turning to Labour was due to their natural “fickleness.” In what proved to be his valedictory piece for the Spectator as editor, Johnson was generous with advice to the man about to step into his shoes. “Just pat her on the bottom and send her on her way,” he said of his female publisher.
Fantastic stuff – and just to think, this is the guy that is responsible for the international diplomacy of the UK…. what could go wrong?

The debate came after China introduced pink parking spaces decorated with giant black heels made especially for women, and are 50 per cent larger than traditional bays.
Rae Martin appeared on This Morning where she couldn’t have been more enthusiastic about the move.
“Cars have just got a lot bigger,” she said. “I’m just rubbish.”
Phillip Schofield chipped in: “But that’s you personally, but do you think women as a whole?”
“Don’t you think, though, this is sexism?” asked Holly Willoughby.
Rae enthused: “I just think, ‘Thank you for giving me a bigger parking space, it’s going to keep my premium insurance down.”
Motoring journalist Jess Shanahan vehemently disagreed, fuming: “There are people who do park well and there are people that don’t. The stereotypes that women don’t park well doesn’t need to be furthered by those spaces.”
Putting the battle of the sexes to the test, Holly and Phillip performed a reverse park with Rae and Jess both predicting who would come out on top.
Jess rooted for Holly, because of “girl power”, while Rae banked on Phillip’s “age” to come out on top.
Shutting down Rae and those doubting female parkers, Holly triumphed and didn’t hold back.
“Also, I did that wearing heels thank you very much,” she teased.
Thankfully, they recorded the compete before today’s This Morning because later the duo helped themselves to a selection of various rums.
“Welcome back,” Phillip beamed. “We’re drinking rum which is quite interesting as we have quite an important visit after the show today.”
This Morning will be welcoming Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowels into the ITV studio today for a special edition of the show to air tomorrow.
Holly grumbled: “This was a bad idea,” before comically gasping: “I love you!”
“Don’t do it,” Phillip grinned.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
Passenger Emily Cole tweeted: “When Virgin Trains mess up and the older male train manager in the resulting conversation dismisses you with that hideously patronising word women shudder at in contexts such as these: ‘honey.’”
Virgin Trains, owned by Richard Branson, responded by saying: “Sorry for the mess up Emily, would you prefer ‘pet’ or ‘love’ next time?”
Cole shared the reply and wrote: “Wonderful to see that @virgin_trainsEC take complaints of rude and misogynistic behaviour seriously. Stunned.” Hundreds of others have since taken to Twitter to call out Virgin Trains, labeling their response “patronising,” “sexist,” “condescending” and “inappropriate.”
One Twitter user wrote: “So instead of giving good customer service, you thought it would be best to mimic the behavior being complained about?” while another said: “How is that appropriate on any level?”
Virgin Trains has now deleted its reply and apologized. It said: “We apologise unreservedly for this tweet and any offence that it may have caused. To avoid causing more offence we have deleted the original post.”

The embarrassing incident comes on the same day rail ticket prices increased, which is now usual in January. This year’s increase however was the biggest in five years, spurring dozens of protests against the rise by commuter groups and unions at the UK’s busiest stations on Tuesday. Private rail companies are not popular.
Senior Labour politicians joined protests over average fare increases of 3.4 percent and season ticket increases of 3.6 percent. The rise, the biggest since 2013, is more than the consumer price index inflation rate and well above average increases in annual earnings.
Rail bosses are defending the increase. The chief executive of Network Rail – the body which manages Britain’s rail infrastructure – Mark Carne said passengers would see many of the benefits of investment this year, including the final stage of London Bridge station’s reopening. This will be followed by the upgraded Thameslink train service in May, and the start of Crossrail services by the end of the year.
He told the Guardian: “Obviously today we see a fare increase and I know passengers are not happy, nor with the reliability of the railway, and that’s why we are investing so heavily to improve it.”
It’s not the first time Virgin Trains has been called out for its questionable public relations. In August last year it was forced to release CCTV footage from one of its trains which proved Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had not lied about having to join seatless commuters on the floor in a scandal dubbed ‘Traingate.’
Corbyn was filmed by freelancer Yannis Mendez from the floor of a train where he chose to sit instead of upgrading to first class on his way to Newcastle from London. After CCTV footage was released by Branson, appearing to show Corbyn and his team walking past empty seats on the train, he was accused of staging the scene to make a political point.
Plutocrat tycoon Branson tweeted: “What about all those empty seats he passed?”
Following the controversy, Mendez made a formal request for the complete CCTV footage. It took Virgin seven months to comply. The firm claimed it did not release all the footage due to “technical difficulties.”
However, the released footage showed the “empty” seats were in fact occupied, with some passengers only visible when they move into frame, or taken up by small children not visible from behind their seats.

Earlier this month, BuzzFeed Brazil went to CCXP — Brazil’s version of Comic-Con — where fans of comics, TV series, gaming, and fantasy novels gathered in São Paulo to hang out and cosplay, of course. We asked women who dressed up as their favorite characters about the most sexist reactions people had to their costume, and here’s what they said.
