Strictly Come Dancing has suffered its first setback after contestant HRVY revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus, which was also confirmed by a BBC spokesperson. The 21-year-old singer broke the news that he had contracted the dreaded illness on Thursday night despite showing no symptoms, and has now gone into isolation.

Taking to Twitter, he admitted he was “already super bored”.

He wrote: “Hi, wasn’t gonna worry anyone and say anything but now the story’s out, I have coronavirus, I’m all good, no symptoms, just isolating for the next 10 days. Already super bored so prepare yourselves for my Tik toks.”(sic)

The YouTube star, whose real name is Harvey Cantwell, has been in contact with other members of cast and crew while promoting the show alongside fellow contestants Jason Bell, Maisie Smith and Clara Amfo, who are now also being tested.

He is said to be quarantining until 8 October, just four days before the pairings take place via video link.

If he does not recover in time, he will be forced to withdraw from the competition.

A spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing said: “We can confirm that a member of the Strictly team has tested positive for coronavirus and they are now self-isolating at home following the latest government guidelines.

“We have rigorous protocols in place to manage Covid-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount.”

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “This is the last thing Strictly wanted.

“They’ve been jumping through hoops since day one to make sure everything is done safely and with as minimal risk to the cast and crew as possible.

“But with just ten days until the celebrities are introduced to their partners, this is the worst-case scenario.”

The cast face twice weekly tests, with the first reportedly taking place on Monday earlier this week, when HRVY received the bad news.

The set will be deep cleaned on a daily basis, with everyone entering the studio adhering to the strict social distancing rules and a self-declaration form will need to be signed by everyone stating they are COVID-19 free.

In regards to hair and makeup, James revealed each couple will be assigned their own artists to avoid mixing with too many people.

It all sounds incredibly complicated, but she reassured that the plan will work.

This year’s Strictly isn’t going to be like anything we’ve seen in revise series, and BBC entertainment controller Kate Phillips, admitted that it has been the “toughest show to get going”.

“As I’m sure you all agree, Strictly is the toughest show to get going under the current climate, but I cannot tell you how impressed we’ve been with the work BBC Studios have been doing,” she told The Mirror.

“Not just to make sure that it is safe for everyone taking part in the show but also the inventiveness that we’ve seen. As challenges have emerged, new ideas have emerged and it really is a case of necessity is the mother of all invention.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns in October on BBC One.

Stacey Dooley: Strictly Come Dancing star hit with shock setback ahead of Movie Week https://briefnews.eu/stacey-dooley-strictly-come-dancing-star-hit-with-shock-setback-ahead-of-movie-week/ https://briefnews.eu/stacey-dooley-strictly-come-dancing-star-hit-with-shock-setback-ahead-of-movie-week/#respond Sat, 06 Oct 2018 17:20:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/stacey-dooley-strictly-come-dancing-star-hit-with-shock-setback-ahead-of-movie-week/

has been impressing the judges each week with her performances.

She and professional partner Kevin Clifton will be dressing as Minions tonight as they embrace Movie Week.

Following the first episode, Stacey quickly became the bookies favourite to lift the Glitterball.

However, ahead of tonight’s show, she’s been hit with a shock set back and she’s no longer favourite to win.

YouTube star Joe Sugg’s odds of winning have been cut to 4-1 with Ashley Roberts close behind with 5-1.

However Stacey is now joint third with Faye Tozer with odds of 6-1 to win the series.

Speaking about Joe’s chance of winning now, a spokesperson for Coral said: “Joe continues to attract a flurry of bets to win the series following his performance last weekend.

“It will be interesting to see if he can impress again on the dance floor in his latest routine.”

This means Stacey will have to pull out all the stops to impress the judges and work her way up the leaderboard.

It comes after .

Speaking on The One Show yesterday, Kevin said: “Just before that happened she went, ‘One million per cent it’s us.’

“She started saying these emotional goodbyes to me. She went, ‘Well, at least we’ve had a nice time’ and ‘at least we’ve had a good run. ‘I must say, I have enjoyed it.’

“I was like, ‘This is not over for me, Stacey!’”

Also on the show, Kevin took a cheeky swipe at Stacey’s rhythm.

Stacey joked: “I’m going to write Kev a poem.”

The professional dancer then replied: “Maybe it will help with your rhythm.”

While The One Show hosts Angela Griffin and Matt Baker began to laugh, Stacey started to freestyle a poem for Kevin.

“Kev, this is to you: Please don’t make me dance anymore, I will want to fall to the floor,” she remarked.

While it no longer looks like Stacey is favourite to be this year’s winner, it appears .

Bookies have revealed he is the front-runner to follow in Susannah Constantine’s steps.

Coral’s odds of Seann being voted off next have been slashed to 5/4.

John Hill, a spokesperson for the bookies, said: “The pressure could be on Seann to survive this weekend as the betting suggesting he isn’t going to be as lucky to survive a dance off this time around.”

Last week, Seann failed to impress the judges with his routine as they pointed out he was not in time with the music.

Will he show improvement this week or is it his time to leave?

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 6.35pm.

Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor to face 'DISASTROUS' set-back over factory regain https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-carla-connor-to-face-disastrous-set-back-over-factory-regain/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-carla-connor-to-face-disastrous-set-back-over-factory-regain/#respond Tue, 07 Aug 2018 02:21:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-carla-connor-to-face-disastrous-set-back-over-factory-regain/

Carla Connor (played by Alison King) has been in turmoil since she found out her beloved brother Aidan (Shayne Ward) left the Underworld Factory to his business partner Alya Nazir (Sair Khan).

However, in next week’s instalment of Coronation Street Alya will return the company to Carla after realising how much the firm and family meant to the late Aidan.

Low in funds to buy back the factory, Carla will receive a surprising proposition from her former partner Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), who offers to investment in the business.

Carla will be wary of Peter’s inventions for buying into the business as he recently tried to rekindle their romance, but had his advances rejected.

The pair were married in 2013, however they separated when it was revealed Peter was having an affair with this babysitter Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan).

Now, Carla is desperate to be boss again and getting into business will Peter may be her only chance of getting what she wants.

Naturally, romance could blossom between the twosome as they have history, but this could spell trouble for Carla.

Actress Alison said: “I think essentially they just love each other and it is a very kind relationship under the surface.

“No matter what has gone on, even when they say they hate each other they actually know that they don’t.

“That is something in their chemistry, it isn’t something they can do anything about because they have similarities.”

Alison also said they are “better apart” and suggested a relationship between Carla and Peter would be “disastrous”.

The 45-year-old actress explained: “I think they are better apart but I like working with Chris so much that I don’t want that to be the case.

“I think they are great as that on-off relationship, that will they, won’t they.”

Alison went on to tell Belfast Telegraph that Carla fears Peter does not have her best interest at heart when he offers to invest in the underwear factory.

She added: “[Carla] is angry, how dare he try and ‘get into bed with her’ financially and try to be her saviour and think she is just going to roll over just like that.

“She knows it is not ideal going into business with Peter, she knows it would be disastrous because she knows her heart is flipping.

“But she needs him and she hates that she does.”

With her families legacy resting firmly in her hands, will Carla manage to separate business and pleasure and live up to her brother’s expectations.

Or will Carla and Peter finally get back together after all these years?

Coronation Street continues Wednesday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

Boeing may have suffered a setback with Starliner’s pad abort test https://briefnews.eu/boeing-may-have-suffered-a-setback-with-starliners-pad-abort-test/ https://briefnews.eu/boeing-may-have-suffered-a-setback-with-starliners-pad-abort-test/#respond Sat, 21 Jul 2018 18:56:09 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/boeing-may-have-suffered-a-setback-with-starliners-pad-abort-test/

A serious issue appears to have occurred during preparations for Boeing’s test of the Starliner spacecraft and its launch abort system, three sources have told Ars. However, a company spokeswoman for the Starliner program did not respond to multiple requests for comment on the test, which was due to take place in White Sands, New Mexico, about three weeks ago.

The pad abort test is a necessary part of certifying spacecraft for flight, as it ensures the ability of the spacecraft to pull rapidly away from its rocket in the case of some emergency during liftoff or ascent into space. One person familiar with the incident in New Mexico said, “This is why you test these things now, rather than with people on board.”

Despite the lack of information from Boeing, industry sources indicated that some kind of failure occurred prior to the test, damaging some of the infrastructure at the test site.

Arsene Wenger replacement: Arsenal decide on new manager but face fresh setback https://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-replacement-arsenal-decide-on-new-manager-but-face-fresh-setback/ https://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-replacement-arsenal-decide-on-new-manager-but-face-fresh-setback/#respond Mon, 07 May 2018 18:56:55 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-replacement-arsenal-decide-on-new-manager-but-face-fresh-setback/

Arsenal have been on the hunt for a new manager to take over from Wenger since his departure was announced last month.

Allegri and Enrique have been heavily linked with the Emirates job to provide top-level experience in a time of change at the club.

But former players Mikel Arteta, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira are also understood to be under consideration as the club looks to a new era.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis, head of football relations Raul Sanllehi and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat will ultimately decide on the new man.

And Sky Sports say Arsenal would like Allegri or Enrique to become the manager.

But Arsenal’s hopes of recruiting them is in doubt due to worries over the structure at the Emirates.

The new manager at Arsenal is not expected to wield the same level of power and influence Wenger exerted at the club.

Following his final home game as manager on Sunday, Wenger offered some advice to whoever takes over.

Wenger said: ”The new man inherits a team which is much better than people think it is, and I’m convinced, you can see the togetherness in the team is special.

“With the right additions this team will challenge next year.”

Former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has backed Arteta to take over.

“That’s a difficult question because you’ve had such a long time with one coach that has been doing a great job for such a long time,” said Djourou.

“Of course, the last few years wasn’t so successful, but what he has brought to the mentality of the club… I think you cannot replace what he’s done.

“For me, it’s a new beginning, it’s a new era, it’s a new start. I think if you want to do a new start you have to go with someone who is maybe young, with a good philosophy, with a great mind as well. So, I don’t know, it’s hard to say.

“Allegri has good experience, Luis Enrique as well, but maybe I see someone like Mikel Arteta, maybe. Because he’s the second coach of Guardiola so he has this football mentality and he played for Arsenal before, so I don’t know.

“I think the future will tell but there are a lot of great minds and great coaches that could bring this team up in the future.”

UK using Skripal case to divert attention from Brexit setback – Russian ambassador https://briefnews.eu/uk-using-skripal-case-to-divert-attention-from-brexit-setback-russian-ambassador/ https://briefnews.eu/uk-using-skripal-case-to-divert-attention-from-brexit-setback-russian-ambassador/#respond Fri, 16 Mar 2018 08:43:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/uk-using-skripal-case-to-divert-attention-from-brexit-setback-russian-ambassador/ The UK is using the Skripal case to divert attention from Brexit issues, Russia’s Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko told RT. London has actively engaged a NATO-led anti-Russian campaign for this purpose, he said.

“In order to divert attention from Brexit, the UK has to present something to the public to move [the focus] a little bit to the other side,” the Russian envoy told RT’s Anastasia Churkina.

Britain views the poisoning of ex-double agent Sergei Skripal as a “possibility to launch this anti-Russian campaign,” said Yakovenko, who has been serving in his position since 2011. “This is a scenario that was written in London but it’s a short-sighted scenario because, in the long run, Britain will have to explain what is behind all these things in Salisbury,” he added.

Britain is trying to find a new place in the world order as it is leaving the EU and attempting to maintain relations with international organizations, Yakovenko said. “The key organization is NATO. Britain is trying to find [its] place, and they found that place in a so-called anti-Russian campaign,” he said. The UK is one of the founders of NATO and has almost a 70-year-old history with the alliance.

“That’s why we saw their new concept of national security last year, where Russia was named as a major enemy of Britain,” the Russian ambassador said.

Another concern for Russia in the Skripal case is the fact that the whole investigation has been classified. “Nobody saw even the pictures of these people in a hospital [Skripal and his daughter Yulia] – whether they are alive or maybe they are in good health. Nobody talked to the doctors. There is absolutely no transparency in the case,” the diplomat stated.

Yakovenko said he was surprised by how quickly British PM Theresa May blamed Russia for Skripal’s poisoning, despite the absence of any evidence. “We want to clarify all the questions behind this provocation – this is exactly how we see [this incident],” he added.

The British authorities will also have to explain the results of their investigation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the envoy believes. They will have to show “what are they doing in a secret chemical laboratory which is eight miles from Salisbury, where they investigated that substance based on their info and on their samples, following certain standards they have,” he said.

Authorities in the UK claim a Soviet-era nerve agent called Novichok was used in the attack on the former Russian-UK double agent. Russia denies any involvement in the incident.

In a separate interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel, Yakovenko said that Russia would “exert maximum pressure” on the UK over the situation with Skripal and his daughter. “I am sure we won’t let them [Britain] off the hook,” he added.

On Monday, Prime Minister May confronted Moscow with an ultimatum to reveal the details of the alleged Skripal plot. The demand was rejected and, on Wednesday, the UK imposed sanctions on Russia, which included expelling 23 diplomats, limiting diplomatic ties, and freezing Russian state assets in the UK.

In response, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that UK diplomats would “definitely” be expelled from the country in response to the move by London. However, Moscow stressed that it was open to cooperation with the UK on the Skripal case if it is treated as an equal partner in the probe.

Hunt: I learned a lot from grand final setback https://briefnews.eu/hunt-i-learned-a-lot-from-grand-final-setback/ https://briefnews.eu/hunt-i-learned-a-lot-from-grand-final-setback/#respond Tue, 13 Mar 2018 19:08:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hunt-i-learned-a-lot-from-grand-final-setback/ BEN Hunt has revealed how his 2015 grand final heartbreak proved an important stepping stone in his NRL career.

Hunt endeared himself to St George Illawarra fans with a first-class display in his Dragons debut against former club Brisbane last week.

The Queensland and Australian representative signalled he was ready to make good on his massive six-year $ 6 million contract and capable of guiding the Red V into premiership contention.

Hunt was derided by some Broncos fans after he dropped the kick-off in extra-time of the Broncos’ 2015 grand final loss, a mistake that directly led to Johnathan Thurston booting the match-winner.

Hunt bounced back to have a career-defining season in 2017, making his Queensland Origin debut and earning selection in Australia’s World Cup-winning squad.

“The grand final came along and that was big setback,” Hunt said.

“It’s something I learned a lot from, I just have to worry about myself and the people I trust and what they really think, not the people on the outside.

“That was one of the things that got me through it.”

Hunt has endured a rollercoaster career and for his first four seasons of first-grade under former Broncos coaches Ivan Henjak and Anthony Griffin, played off the bench.

He admitted that between 2010-2013, he at times carried extra weight that slowed his progress.

“I had that great year of under-20s and after that it was a bit of my own fault that I faded away a bit,” Hunt said.

“I put on a few extra kilos, found myself playing that utility role, not really playing a lot of minutes.

“We did have a couple of good halves ahead of us like Darren Lockyer and Peter Wallace.

“I finally got my chance and I took it with both hands.”

Setback puts key Cat in doubt for Round 1 https://briefnews.eu/setback-puts-key-cat-in-doubt-for-round-1/ https://briefnews.eu/setback-puts-key-cat-in-doubt-for-round-1/#respond Tue, 30 Jan 2018 02:34:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/setback-puts-key-cat-in-doubt-for-round-1/ GEELONG could be without one of its most important midfielders for the start of its 2018 campaign, with Scott Selwood in doubt for Round 1 after an injury setback.

Selwood will be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks after undergoing ankle surgery on Monday night.

The 28-year-old underwent an arthroscopy on his right ankle after experiencing some “pain and stiffness” upon his return to training earlier this month.

Cats football manager Simon Lloyd said all parties agreed that surgery was the best course of action.

“The decision for surgery was made as the club’s medical staff believe it will give Scott the best chance of missing minimal football going forward,” Lloyd said.

“Scott will now begin a rehab program with his recovery expected to take approximately six to eight weeks.”

Selwood played just 25 games across the 2014 and 2015 seasons due to issues with the same ankle.

It’s also not the first injury setback Selwood has suffered since crossing over from the West Coast Eagles ahead of the 2016 season.

The on-baller struggled with foot and ankle issues in his first season with the Cats before hamstring and toe injuries restricted him to 14 games in 2017.

If Selwood misses Geelong’s Round 1 clash against Melbourne on March 26, it’ll be the third straight year Selwood would’ve missed his club’s season-opener.

Star Wars Last Jedi suffers surprise box office setback after Chinese release https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-last-jedi-suffers-surprise-box-office-setback-after-chinese-release/ https://briefnews.eu/star-wars-last-jedi-suffers-surprise-box-office-setback-after-chinese-release/#respond Fri, 05 Jan 2018 19:36:56 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/star-wars-last-jedi-suffers-surprise-box-office-setback-after-chinese-release/

The eighth movie in the franchise is currently pacing towards only second place at best, despite a full marketing campaign.

It reportedly earned §7 million (RMB50.1 million) on Friday from its initial screenings, a market share of only 27%.

That’s a considerable distance behind reigning favourite The Ex-File, which is on $ 15.7 million (RMB102 million) and a 58% share of the box office.

Star Wars has, it must be said, never been a huge phenomenon in China, and when The Force Awakens eventually made it to $ 124 million for its run in 2016, it was considered weaker than expected.

Rogue One, meanwhile – which featured two Chinese stars in the forms of Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen – managed $ 69.5 million last year.

Globally, The Last Jedi continues strongly, although it could be overtaken by Jumanji this weekend in the US. Both pictures are pacing between $ 25-26 million.

The Last Jedi was never expected to achieve as high a haul as The Force Awakens, but it has already made over $ 1 billion.

It also ended 2017 as the biggest movie of 2017 in the US, narrowly ahead of Beauty and the Beast and also Wonder Woman.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has split opinion in an unprecedented way: whilst critics have been almost unanimous in their praise, fan reaction has been split almost 50:50.

JJ Abrams, who helmed Episode 7, will return to direct Episode 9 – which is due for release in 2019.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out now.
