  • Insider is putting together its third annual list of the best young talent in real estate.
  • We want to spotlight standouts in the worlds of commercial and residential real estate in 2022.
  • Submit your nominations through this form by October 14.

Business Insider is seeking nominations for our third annual list of rising stars of real estate, and we want to hear from you.

If you know an up-and-comer who we should consider, please submit your suggestions below or through this form by October 14, 2022.

We're looking for standouts, the leaders of tomorrow who are making notable contributions and setting themselves apart from their class in commercial and residential real estate. The nominations are open to professionals working in real estate as well as those in other industries who have a focus on real estate.

Take a look at last year's list — and the one from 2020 — for inspiration.

Criteria and methodology

Our selection criteria: We ask that nominees be 35 or under as of November 25, 2022, based in the US, and stand out from their peers. We are seeking the best and the brightest working in real estate in roles including, but not limited to, developers, investors, brokers, architects, builders, designers, urban planners, founders, and property managers. Editors will make final decisions.

Please make your submission below or through this form by October 14, 2022 to have your selection considered for the list. Please be as specific as possible in your submission.

Please email Robert Davis at rdavis@insider.com with any questions or issues submitting nominations.

Despite the economic downturn, influencer marketing is booming — it's expected to become a $ 5 billion industry by the end of this year, according to an August survey by Insider Intelligence.

Companies have increased their marketing budgets to 9.5% of their total revenue this year, compared to 6.4% in 2021, according to a May survey by Gartner. And for some brands, this increased budget means more dollars to invest in the creator economy.

While some companies still choose to work with influencers who have millions of followers, indicating a much wider reach, a number of brands are now seeing the benefits of working with micro influencers, or influencers with between 10,000 and 100,000 followers, according to a report released earlier this year by the influencer-marketing agency HypeAuditor.

One reason why micro influencers appeal to brands is because of the lower cost, according to experts like Emily Fonda, co-founder of talent management firm The Sociable Society.

"They will want to work with cheaper creators to belt out that cost per acquisition, rather than throwing all of their budget into one big celebrity," Fonda previously told Insider.

Micro influencers also have a very high engagement rate compared to other types of influencers. Last year, data analysis website Marketing Charts reported that micro influencers had the highest post-engagement rates of all influencer types on Instagram (3.86%), YouTube (1.63%), and TikTok (17.96%).

Due to these factors and more, some brands, such as Coca-Cola and Sephora, have even established robust micro influencer programs, because they see the value of working with these kinds of creators.

We are seeking nominations from readers — especially influencers, marketing agencies, and creator economy experts— on the best brands for micro influencers to work with based on pay, availability for work, and overall experience, among other factors.

The list of top brands will be determined by Insider based on a mix of our reporting and the nominations that we receive.

Please submit your nominations through this form by September 21, 2022 or below:

January 6 committee is seeking information from Newt Gingrich, who they say urged Trump aides to air TV ads repeating false election claims https://briefnews.eu/january-6-committee-is-seeking-information-from-newt-gingrich-who-they-say-urged-trump-aides-to-air-tv-ads-repeating-false-election-claims/ https://briefnews.eu/january-6-committee-is-seeking-information-from-newt-gingrich-who-they-say-urged-trump-aides-to-air-tv-ads-repeating-false-election-claims/#respond Fri, 02 Sep 2022 00:55:29 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/january-6-committee-is-seeking-information-from-newt-gingrich-who-they-say-urged-trump-aides-to-air-tv-ads-repeating-false-election-claims/ Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich introduces then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump during a rally at the Sharonville Convention Center on July 6, 2016, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • The January 6 committee is seeking a voluntary interview with Newt Gingrich.
  • The committee said emails showed Gingrich pushing for TV ads with false election claims.
  • They also said he appeared to be involved in the alternate electors plot, citing a text he sent to Mark Meadows.

The January 6 committee investigating the Capitol riot said Thursday it is seeking information from Newt Gingrich about his involvement in efforts to subvert 2020 election results.

In a letter sent to the former Republican House speaker, the committee said it is seeking his "voluntary cooperation." The letter also said the committee had obtained messages that suggested Gingrich was involved in efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to cast doubt and even overturn the election results.

The committee said it obtained emails that showed Gingrich urging the Trump campaign to air TV ads repeating false claims about the election.

According to the letter, in one email sent to Jared Kushner and Jason Miller, Gingrich wrote: "The goal is to arouse the country's anger through new verifiable information the American people have never seen before[.] . . . If we inform the American people in a way they find convincing and it arouses their anger[,] they will then bring pressure on legislators and governors."

The committee also said information it obtained suggested Gingrich was involved in a plot to appoint alternate electors to vote for Trump on behalf of states that Biden won. The letter said Gingrich wrote in a text to Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows and White House counsel Pat Cipollone: "Is someone in charge of coordinating all the electors? Evans makes the point that all the contested electors must meet on [D]ecember 14 and send in ballots to force contests which the house would have to settle."

The committee is requesting Gingrich sit for an interview on September 19 and to preserve any relevant communications.

Gingrich's company did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

BH90210 Recap: Desperately Seeking Shannen https://briefnews.eu/bh90210-recap-desperately-seeking-shannen/ https://briefnews.eu/bh90210-recap-desperately-seeking-shannen/#respond Thu, 22 Aug 2019 02:32:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bh90210-recap-desperately-seeking-shannen/

In a last-ditch effort to get her reboot off the ground, Tori Spelling turned to a pair of Walshes — one far more helpful than the other — on Wednesday’s BH90210.

Plan A was to have Carol Potter (aka Mama Walsh), now a licensed therapist, help the cast work through its issues — everything from the show’s writer getting Jason Priestley’s wife pregnant to Jason having a one-night stand with Jennie Garth in Vegas.

Ironically, the least time was devoted to discussing the mangled dolls everyone received in the mail last week; the group seemed surprisingly OK sweeping that under the rug, like it’s something that happens all the time. Long story short, the session was a total bust.

With Christine Elise riding her harder than ever (“Have you reached out to Joe E. Tata yet? Maybe he’d like to be the CEO of Fox!”), Tori was left with only one option: haul ass to Peru, climb a damn mountain and beg Shannen Doherty for mercy. Fortunately for Tori, Saint Shannen took an oath to help all wounded animals in need, so she agreed to do the reboot without so much as a second thought.

Also worth discussing…

* Gabrielle Carteris’ husband was less supportive of her sexual exploration than she’d hoped (“You’re into women? I’m not a woman!”), but a subsequent chat with Christine Elise helped to lift her spirits and boost her confidence — especially since it ended with the two ladies matching up on a dating app! Honestly, this storyline is the L Word reboot we deserve.

* The Zach mystery deepened this week, as Brian Austin Green agreed to hire him as an assistant. Shay wasn’t initially sold on her husband’s young look-alike, but she changed her tune when he “rescued” one of their kids who wandered outside. When Zach saw how upset Shay was that she put her own child at risk, he swooped in and took the blame, which apparently eared him BAG’s respect — as well as key to the house.

* In a very Kelly Taylor move, Jennie spent the hour getting — ahem — familiar with her hot new bodyguard. She even agreed to call him by his first name, which is apparently a very big step for her. (Earth-2 Jennie Garth has serious trust issues, in case you haven’t picked up on that yet.)

* After hitting on (and striking out with) the reboot’s new head writer, Ian Ziering fell into a #MeToo spiral, only he somehow managed to make himself the victim. “When did it become inappropriate to compliment a woman?” he asked before launching into a drunken tirade about how he and his co-stars have gone from Tiger Beat poster boys to AARP dinosaurs seemingly overnight.

‘We are coming’: Chilling Blackwater ad triggers fears of Trump seeking to privatize Mideast wars https://briefnews.eu/we-are-coming-chilling-blackwater-ad-triggers-fears-of-trump-seeking-to-privatize-mideast-wars/ https://briefnews.eu/we-are-coming-chilling-blackwater-ad-triggers-fears-of-trump-seeking-to-privatize-mideast-wars/#respond Wed, 26 Dec 2018 04:12:39 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/we-are-coming-chilling-blackwater-ad-triggers-fears-of-trump-seeking-to-privatize-mideast-wars/

Blackwater, the controversial US private security company, has flagged its intent to resume business, taking out a full-page commercial in the latest edition of Recoil magazine with a chilling message declaring “We are coming”

The resurrection within the military contractors’ market of notorious Blackwater, which, after numerous scandals and several rebrandings, is now known as Academi, has analysts looking deeper into US intent to withdraw from the wars in the Middle East. The advertisement in Recoil, made public after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced his resignation, prompted concerns that president Donald Trump might be seeking to privatize ongoing American engagements in Afghanistan and Syria, following the declared troops’ withdrawal from the region.

The main supporter of the idea of privatizing the US fighting in the Middle East has been Erik Prince, the former head of Blackwater. The longtime Republican sold the company in 2010 but has maintained communications with Trump, reportedly trying to lobby his inner circle to replace the US military presence in the region with mercenaries. Mattis, who served in the Persian Gulf War, Afghanistan and Iraq, firmly rejected the idea.

Trump has basically fired the very people who told him that it would not work and not to do it.

“With Mattis now gone it is conceivable that Trump now may reevaluate” Prince’s proposal, Michael Maloof, former Pentagon security analyst, told RT.

Whether or not outsourcing US wars to a private contractor will have any positive affect on the ground remains to be seen, Maloof explained, stressing that a “three private military contractors for one US soldier” ratio currently set up in Syria and Afghanistan has failed to achieve much.

“Erik Prince is very close to Trump,” the analyst pointed out, but “he would have to bring very traumatic force and it’s going to cost money and Erik Prince is getting paid by the US government.”

The prospects of Blackwater’s return to the mercenary market has distressed those few among American public who remember the notorious murder of 14 Iraqi civilians by the company’s guards in 2007 in Nisour Square, Baghdad.

“I don’t think the American public would stand for a company that has committed so many crimes in the past,” political activist, Medea Benjamin told RT. “Erik Price and mercenaries make money by continuing wars, not ending them.”

The Trump effect? Number of US citizens seeking asylum in Canada soars by 500% https://briefnews.eu/the-trump-effect-number-of-us-citizens-seeking-asylum-in-canada-soars-by-500/ https://briefnews.eu/the-trump-effect-number-of-us-citizens-seeking-asylum-in-canada-soars-by-500/#respond Thu, 15 Nov 2018 04:50:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-trump-effect-number-of-us-citizens-seeking-asylum-in-canada-soars-by-500/ Trump seems to have accomplished what political Hollywood never has – convincing thousands of Americans to flee the country. Driven by his policies, more US citizens sought asylum in Canada last year than have in decades.

Americans were the third-largest group to seek asylum in Canada in 2017, according to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, their numbers only surpassed by Nigerians and Haitians. A total of 2,550 US citizens applied for Canadian asylum in 2017 – an eye-popping sixfold increase from the previous year, and more than at any other time in the last quarter-century.

Immigration experts claim most of the new arrivals are US-born children of Haitian parents hoping to avoid being separated from their families by Trump’s repeal of the Temporary Protected Status that was granted to 59,000 Haitians after 2010’s catastrophic earthquake. Haitians remaining in the US after July 2019 face deportation.

The Guardian humanized those numbers with the story of a family who, inspired by the uplifting tweets of Justin Trudeau, joined over 20,000 would-be refugees in crossing the border on foot at Quebec’s infamous Roxham Road, taking advantage of a now-popular loophole in the Safe Third Country Agreement between Canada and the US that normally forces refugees to apply for asylum in the first country in which they arrive.

Choosing one’s permanent home based on its leader’s tweets is unusual, to say the least, though it would certainly cut down on attempted immigration into the US if prospective migrants had to read through @realDonaldTrump’s musings.

Trudeau has since backpedaled quite a bit on his arms-wide-open approach, partially because of the influx of migrants through Canada’s southern neighbor, most of whom are ineligible for asylum. Canadian public safety minister Ralph Goodale reminded aspiring migrants earlier this year that there is no “free ticket” into Canada, while the border agency wants to increase deportations of denied asylum claimants by 35 percent. Trudeau’s government has even sent officials to Haiti and Nigeria to tell wannabe immigrants to stay at home.

Perhaps he isn’t so different from Trump after all. The US president addressed the thousands of migrants currently streaming northward in caravans through Mexico, telling them they would not be allowed in unless they applied for entry through legal channels.

So many Americans considered the decision to flee north on election night 2016 that they actually crashed Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration website. Leading the charge were vocally anti-Trump celebrities like Lena Dunham and Barbra Streisand. While most stars who fail to follow through on their public ultimatums act like they never promised to leave, Streisand recently reminded the world of her broken promise during the midterms. “Do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know,” she said again, complaining to a New York Times reporter that Trump was making her fat. As for Dunham, she’s supposedly writing a screenplay about a Syrian refugee – no word yet on whether they end up in Canada.

1,000s gather in London for ‘biggest’ anti-Brexit rally seeking final say (VIDEO) https://briefnews.eu/1000s-gather-in-london-for-biggest-anti-brexit-rally-seeking-final-say-video/ https://briefnews.eu/1000s-gather-in-london-for-biggest-anti-brexit-rally-seeking-final-say-video/#respond Sat, 20 Oct 2018 13:17:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/1000s-gather-in-london-for-biggest-anti-brexit-rally-seeking-final-say-video/

Thousands of protesters are descending on Westminster for what organizers claim is the “biggest, loudest and most important” anti-Brexit demo since the vote. They insist Brexit is taking the UK to a “future nobody voted for.”

The participants, mainly young activists, of the so-called “March For the Future” gathered at Park Lane in the British capital at noon. They will march to Parliament Square, where they will hear speeches in support of a people’s vote.

“The Brexit elite can’t sort out this mess – only you can: Demand a people’s vote.” This is the ambitious message conveyed by the People’s Vote campaign group on its website. It insists that Brexit negotiations are taking British people towards “a future that nobody voted for.”

A petition calling for people to be given a final say on a Brexit deal has already gained almost a million signatures.

Labour MP David Lammy took to Twitter to support the demonstrators. “Do not let them tell you it is not possible to stop Brexit. We can do it,” he told his followers.

According to Labour’s Andrew Adonis, Brexit is “becoming a dog’s dinner.” “It’s a mess that nobody voted for and the reason we’re in such a growing crisis is that those cheerleading for Brexit know the promises they made can never be kept,” he stated. Adonis has already arrived in the center of London to join the rally.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan joined the demonstrators in the heart of the capital. He earlier vowed that the protest would be a “historic moment in [British] democracy.”

In July this year, Theresa May managed to negotiate the controversial Brexit plan, which is also known as the Chequers deal, during a marathon session of talks with her cabinet. The strategy, which defines the relationship between the UK and EU after Brexit, divided both Westminster and general public. The UK is scheduled to leave the bloc in March 2019, according to Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson once called May’s Brexit plan “a suicide vest” that is wrapped around the British constitution, adding that the detonator had been handed to Brussels.
