  • Former US Attorney Geoffrey Berman said the potential for a second Trump administration "frightens me."
  • Berman said Trump would repeat "all of the dangerous and outrageous things he did as president" in a second term.
  • The former US attorney added that it is unlikely that Trump will be indicted on any charges before the midterms.

A former US Attorney said the thought of former President Donald Trump being re-elected "frightens me." 

Trump has teased a 2024 run but appears to be holding his announcement until after the midterms in November. Meanwhile, he continues to repeat disproven claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

On NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman said Trump's potential second term would be "dangerous."

"I shudder to think about it. The prospect of a second Trump administration frightens me," Berman said. "All of the dangerous and outrageous things he did as president will be repeated if there's a second administration, except this time, he's going to be more successful in doing that."

Berman added: "And remember, when he was president, he always knew he had to stand for reelection. If there's a second administration, he'll be free of those concerns."

 

After his Mar-A-Lago property was raided for a slew of confidential documents, Trump said on Truth Social that the raid was "one of the most egregious assaults on democracy in the history of our Country," according to The New York Times. At a rally in Youngstown, Ohio this weekend, Trump decried the "unprecedented weaponization of the Justice Department and the FBI," NBC reported. 

Berman – who volunteered for the Trump campaign in 2016, per NBC – expressed frustration about Trump's criticisms of the Justice Department.

"Trump is trying to portray himself somehow as the victim of a politicized Department of Justice," Berman said. "It was under Trump and under Barr that the politicization of the Department of Justice actually occurred. There's no evidence supporting that he was victimized." 

Berman added that it's unlikely that the raid will lead to any indictments of Trump before the midterms. 

"I don't think anything dramatic should be expected prior to the election," Berman said.

What to expect from the launch

The launch is to take place from Firefly’s launch site (SLC-2) at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The aim of the mission, named Alpha Flight 2, is to deliver satellites into low-Earth orbit. These include payloads that are re-creations of the payloads which were lost in the first launch attempt in September last year.

The payloads included in the mission include a three-unit CubeSat called Serenity from the group Teachers in Space, which carries a suite of sensors and a camera pointed at Earth and is designed for educational purposes. The NASA TechEdSat-15 is another three-unit CubeSat which is a test of an exo-brake device designed to use the drag of Earth’s atmosphere to slow and direct satellites. And the PicoBus is a deployer that will deliver eight tiny satellites, called picosatellites, to test an open source approach to telecommunications constellations.

The intention is to deploy the payloads around one hour after liftoff. The Alpha rocket carrying the payloads is almost 100 feet tall and is 71 inches in diameter, and is made from a lightweight carbon fiber composite.

How to watch the launch

Firefly will be livestreaming the launch attempt with its partner, Everyday Astronaut. The livestream is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT) on Sunday, September 11, with the launch itself scheduled for 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT). Lenovo is giving the foldable PC a second shot. The upcoming Lenovo 16-inch ThinkPad X1 Fold announced today attempts to improve on 2020’s ThinkPad X1 Fold with a bigger screen, more powerful specs, and an operating system better suited for multitasking across the bendable OLED touchscreen.

I tried out the Windows 11 PC ahead of its expected November launch, and it improved upon the weaknesses of the original 13.3-inch ThinkPad X1 Fold.

The new Fold folds up more securely than before, its OS is more accommodating to dual screens, and enhanced specs give it greater potential for business use. Lenovo may finally have the pieces needed for a desirable, natural-feeling foldable Windows experience.

After he put Harris in charge of the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, he opened the front door to reveal a Passover surprise: his beloved dog Major. Before long, the unruly German Shepard attacked Emhoff, who was only able to break free once Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene showed up, “insurrection-style,” and scared Major away.

Additional guests at the unity seder included woke Second Daughter Ella Emhoff (played by Chloe Fineman) and Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock (played by Kenan Thompson).

The comedian has already had to miss the last two instalments of Dancing on Ice after testing positive for coronavirus, meaning he had to self-isolate. However, he was due to return on Sunday night but it’s now been confirmed he will not be back on the ice due to having yet another positive test result.

Rufus quickly made an impact on the show and was given the programme’s first golden ticket.

However, the next weekend saw him have to take some time away after contracting the virus.  

He was due to return on the upcoming show, but ITV has confirmed this won’t be happening.

Oh Cook premieres on Amazon Prime Video across the globe today as The Grand Tour fan-favourite James tries his hand at a show well out of his comfort zone. Fans are used to seeing James alongside the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond on The Grand Tour and Top Gear whizzing around the race track but now, he’ll be chopping, dicing and frying up some tasty dishes instead. And speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, James announced he’s planning on doing it all over again – whether people watch the debut series or not.

With the first season of Oh Cook premiering in its entirety on Friday, November 13, Express.co.uk asked if he’d be interested in starring in any future episodes.

“I’d love another go at it, yes,” he said. “We’ve planned the second series just in case.”

He continued: “We’ll get a bit more adventurous, we won’t start getting into breeding our own cows or anything like that,

“But we will look more closely at things like health food, diets, going a bit more deeply into you know, using spices, trying to do a few more things from scratch and actually learning the basics of those things.”

“On the whole, (Oh Cook) is less hazardous, I suppose,” James explained. “And people expect me to know what I’m doing and what I’m talking about if I’m driving a car.

“I don’t think anybody thinks I’m particularly well versed in cooking or you know, I’m not an authority. 

“But in a lot of ways, the kitchen is quite high pressure because it all happens in real-time, cooking. 

“You can’t really uncook something, once you’ve put the egg into poach, you can’t say, ‘well, I’ll just take that out and do that bit again.’

“You’ve got to keep going or you’ve got to start the whole thing,” James said. “Again, which we didn’t want to do.”

“And also everybody there is trying to tell you how to do it. It’s actually quite fractured in the way the kitchens are. 

“And that’s true even if you’re not filming in them.

“If you’re trying to cook and you’ve got a lot of people interfering that is – I’m sure most domestic fights start either in the kitchen or around the TV remote control.”
