For the first time since being disqualified from RuPaul’s Drag Race in March 2020, disgraced performer Sherry Pie (the stage name of Joey Gugliemelli) sat down for a live televised interview on Tuesday’s Tamron Hall Show.

Before we jump in, here’s some background: Gugliemelli competed in the 12th season of VH1’s popular reality competition series, but a series of sexual misconduct allegations were brought against him just hours before his first episode was set to air, prompting producers to edit him out of the season and disqualify him from the competition. Up to a dozen men have now come forward with claims that Gugliemelli — posing as a fake casting director named Allison Mossie — tricked them into sending money and degrading photographs under the guise of being considered for roles on stage and screen.

Hall began Tuesday’s episode by addressing the social media backlash she’s been receiving for planning this conversation. “The very idea that I’d have Sherry Pie on … was seen by some as giving away my platform,” Hall said to the camera. “I’ve been a reporter for 30 years. I’ve interviewed rapists, I’ve interviewed murderers, I remember interviewing a woman in prison who murdered a child she was trusted to care for. It’s not giving away your platform. It’s called an interview, and people who do bad things are interviewed. R. Kelly comes to mind. That’s just one person I’m thinking who was recently interviewed on multiple platforms and shared all over social media.”

After insisting that she doesn’t give “free passes,” Hall welcomed Gugliemelli into the studio remotely.

“I first want to say that there are no ‘allegations,’” Gugliemelli began. “I admit to my wrongdoings and horrible behavior. I don’t know if … more [victims] will come forward. I’m here to apologize, and I want to make that very clear. I understand now, in lieu of this year, how much pain I’ve caused. I just want to let the victims know, and everyone else know, that I am so sorry. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and the trauma that I’ve caused. That’s really all I have to say.” (And, truly, he didn’t have much else to say.)

Gugliemelli explained that he’s been “doing cognitive behavioral therapy” ever since his disqualification and has been in contact with three of his victims. “Two of them I still speak to,” he said. “One of them asked me to no longer contact them, and I totally understand that.” Gugliemelli explained that some of his victims were very close friends, and that he “wanted to be able to keep them around and keep them close.”

As for potential criminal charges, Gugliemelli is “prepared to take any responsibility,” though he’s only been contacted by authorities for a welfare check thus far.

Towards the end of the end of the interview, Gugliemelli revealed that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder around the time of his disqualification, adding, “I don’t blame my mental illness for anything I’ve done.” He also made vague allusions to his childhood, which included a “deplorable” father and a stepfather with whom he still has a bad relationship.

Pimlico Plumbers boss Charlie Mullins, 67, joined Eamonn Holmes, 60, and Ruth Langsford, 60, on This Morning as more workers return to the office in light of the coronavirus crisis. Thousands applied to the Government’s furlough scheme at the end of March when the nation was put into lockdown, meaning 80 percent of their wages would still be paid despite not actually working. Chancellor Rishi Sunak, 40, has extended the economic incentive until the end of October, but the businessman told the ITV presenters it has become a “stupid culture” and some members of the public are taking advantage of not returning to work.

Speaking from his home in Marbella, the business owner said: “To get people back into the workplace, we need to end [furlough] as quick as possible.

“The obvious ones who have got to be on it – I think we need to start a new scheme on it – but let’s not kid anyone.

“The majority of people now who are in a position to be able to go back to work, don’t want to go back to work.”

Eamonn then explained only a third of employees are returning to the workplace before asking the guest: “Are you basically saying furlough is too attractive?”

“If you’re paying anyone to sit and home and do nothing, that’s what they’re going to do,” Mr Mullins added.

Continuing his rant, the Pimlico Plumbers boss said: “The problem is, most people’s workplace is too far from the beach for them.

“We need to end it, it’s had its day, it’s done what it needs to do at the time but we now need to move on.

“Get the economy going, get people back inside the workplace and stop this stupid culture of people thinking they can sit at home and just be paid for it.”

Mr Mullins then went on to blast those taking advantage of using the furlough scheme, labelling them as “selfish” in his opinion.

“They couldn’t care about anyone else or the economy. It’s going to become counterproductive as people won’t be motivated enough [to do their work].”

One wrote on Twitter: “Yes, people will actually only start to realise the restrictions being forced on their lives when they are made to get off their sofas and go back to work, everywhere needs to open up and people make their own choices, not moan about everyone else’s!”

Another added: “Furlough is not a choice made by employees. Employers have made a business decision to furlough staff for a multitude of reasons and I’m positive those people would love to get back to work, it’s just not possible for the majority.”

Whilst a third commented: “Some of us have no choice about being furloughed, it’s our employers making that decision every month. Why doesn’t Charlie Mullins help the economy by holidaying in the UK? Such a hypocrite!!”

“I’ve not seen this particular interview but seen him on other things. I don’t think he’s criticising the people that can’t go back to work, he is criticising the ones who won’t,” a fourth posted in defence.

With the economy all but shut down since the end of March to mid-June, it is thought the furlough scheme has cost the Government £25billion.

The next change to the process is set to be made in September when the state will only pay for 70 percent of employees wages.

Although the economic support programme is set to end in October, it is thought the entire system will come to a close by November.

An incentive of a one-off £1,000 payment has been offered by the Government for those employers who keep staff in their jobs from November and January 2021.

  • Federal prosecutors have charged three men in connection with an alleged $ 364 million Ponzi scheme that could have more than 400 victims nationwide. 
  • The men were indicted on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, identity theft, and money laundering.
  • The indictment alleges that the three men took $ 73 million of investors’ funds “to purchase and renovate high end homes in Maryland, Texas, Nevada, and Florida, purchase luxury automobiles, jewelry, boats, and a share in a jet plane, gamble $ 25 million at casinos, and support a lavish lifestyle.”

A federal grand jury has indicted three men on charges related to an alleged $ 364 million ponzi scheme.

The three alleged fraudsters — Kevin B. Merrill, Jay B. Ledford and Cameron Jezierski — promised to pay investors significant profits from the purchase and resale of consumer debt portfolios, but in fact, they “touted their purported investment expertise to siphon millions of dollars from unsuspecting investors,” according to the SEC’s complaint.

According to reports ministers are planning to replace it with a new system after the scheme expires in 2021. 

It is expected the new arrangement will focus on helping out the lower-paid,  rather than giving “handouts” to the middle classes. 

Official figures this year revealed the average wage of somebody supported by Help To Buy is £55,000 – more than double the average wage of £26,000. 

Since its launch in 2013 the Government has provided more than £8.9billion of support. 

The scheme has been extended to last until 2021 with an additional £10billion already pledged.

The programme has come under fierce criticism at a time when public finances remain tight. 

Matt Kilcoyne, from the Adam Smith Institute think tank, said: “Scrapping the scheme is a good step toward a housing market that works for everyone.

 “The well-off shouldn’t get a handout from government that pushes up the price of houses in already expensive markets.”

Tesco shoppers will see the value of their Clubcard points slashed.

Currently, customers are able to get four times the value of the points in vouchers to use in partner brands.

However, this is set to change from Monday June 11 to just three times the value.

This means that where customers currently get £10 to spend for a £2.50 voucher, from Monday they will only get £7.50 to spend.

But there is a way to ensure you get the current value, rather than the new, lower price.

Tesco says the rewards tokens are valid for six months “unless otherwise stated”.

Therefore, swapping the Clubcard vouchers for rewards tokens now will boost their value.

This isn’t the only change Tesco have made to the Clubcard scheme.

They are also cutting ties with 57 Clubcard partners, including Halfords and Cutty Sark.

The updates were initially planned for January 2018, but Tesco pushed their plans back to June after customer backlash.

Tesco are making big changes to their business this year.

Tesco Direct is set to be closed permamantly after the retailing giant admitted the homeware outlet is unprofitable.

Selling a range of household items, toys and garden furniture, Tesco Direct’s website will close from 9th July.

The normal Tesco groceries website will continue to remain active.

In an attempt to clear stock and prepare the website for closure, Tesco Direct has launched a huge sale.

The sale features many Tesco’s own and branded products at up to 50 per cent off.

The online clearance features half price off on selected indoor furnitures, also including luggage, cleaning equipment, gym equipment and children’s bikes in the sale.

Eluding to the fact that more items will be added soon, the website states: “More lines added regularly, don’t miss out!”

The money-saving sale features a “Samba Football Fun Goal” for just £46 and a normally pricey “window vac” for £30, at time of writing.

Charles Wilson, CEO of Tesco UK & ROI, said: “We want to offer our customers the ability to buy groceries and non-food products in one place and that’s why we are focusing our investment into one online platform.”
