Scott continued: “I was hoping that audiences would be intrigued and want to see what all that [his exit] was about, which I feel is basically what happened.

“I was pretty nervous about that, but I feel that Rick is a gigantic part of the show and he has a gigantic story, and that story could be told in any number of ways. As long as we kept telling Rick’s story, we’re doing right by the audience.”

“I know that I was still interested in watching it,” he went on. “I was sure that we would tell that story, and I was hoping that the audience would appreciate that.”

The Walking Dead returns to Fox on February 24, and the next day on Fox UK.

The film takes its cues from the so-called Vallecas case, which took place in a small suburb in Madrid.

It’s the only police report which is, according to The Sun, marked as “unexplained”.

It revolves around a teenage girl named Estafania Gutierrez Lazaro, who died suddenly in August 1991 – with her parents convinced it had something to do with her interest in Ouija boards.

They told the police that when the boyfriend of one of Estafania’s friends died in a motorcycle accident, a group held a seance at school to try and contact him.

It was interrupted by a teacher, after which Estafania’s parents claimed that they all saw a strange swirling smoke enter her nose and mouth. She began having seizures and hallucinations just days later.

No doctors could find anything wrong with her, and no diagnosis could ever be given. Meanwhile Estafania’s heath deteriorated and her seizures and hallucinations intensified until she ultimately passed away.

The parents then claimed that over subsequent months, doors in the house would slam of their own accord, shadowy figures would be spotted lurking, and – with no explanation whatsoever – a photo of their daughter burst into flames.

But worse was still to come.

Everything culminated on one horrific night in 1992 – over a year after Estafania’s death – when her mother “felt a pressure on top of me but there was no-one around… I then felt a pair of hands grab my feet and then grab my hand.”

They phoned the police, and in a 2012 documentary, Police Inspector Jose Pedro Negri revealed just how terrifying things were.

“It was a small bedroom with twin beds,” he recalled. “The father told us that sometimes when he and his little son were sitting on the bed, his son was picked up and thrown on to the other bed in a flying move.

“I sat down in the same bedroom to see if anything would happen. We heard a terrible scream behind us which came from a small balcony. I quickly opened the door and ran out to see if I could see anything. But there was nothing. No fallen stones. Nothing.

“It was 2.30 in the morning and the noise was dreadful.”

He went on: “When I’d first entered the room, I noticed they had a large wooden crucifix on the wall and hanging off it was a smaller pearly crucifix like the one children get at their first holy communions. There was also a poster.”

But a few moments later, “the crucifix had been turned upside down, the little crucifix was on the floor and the poster and the door had three or four deep scratches in them as if someone had clawed through the poster and deep into the door.” The parents ultimately moved out.

While Veronica is not a blow-by-blow account of this story, it is heavily inspired by it – and many viewers have called it too scary to even finish.

The adaptation of Stephen King’s novel was a huge box office success upon its release last month, and Chapter 2 should be along in 2019.

Speaking to IGN, Skarsgard said that the sequel will simply follow more adult characters, and get more into the “psychological aspects of horror”.

Long story short, it’ll be scarier than ever.

“The first movie worked so well at what it is trying to do, I think, and ultimately that is the kids’ story, and you follow these kids and you sort of fall in love with these kids,” he said. 

“And the second one will be the adult story.”

He elaborated: “I think the right way to do it is to make that movie actively different.

“I think there might be worth exploring sort of the psychological aspects of horror, but also maybe the sort of cosmological existence of this being [Pennywise]. 

“What is he, and where does he come from?”

Andy Muschietti directed the smash hit horror, which defied all expectations upon its release in September.

The sequel has already been confirmed for launch on September 6, 2019.

The 27-year-old Swedish star is seen in full clown make-up when he plays the disturbing menace in the horror film, but that smile is somewhat chilling even without all the paint.

In fact, something about seeing Skarsgard doing it in his ‘normal’ mode is even more disturbing.

Promoting the movie with Swedish radio station PP3, he appeared on their Instagram feed giving the camera that very particular look.

Director Andy Muschietti has repeatedly spoken very highly of Skarsgard, and in one interview opened up about how he was able to be so scary.

“Each scene where Pennywise intervenes, Bill provided a new flavour to each take because he was part of the concept of making this monster unpredictable,” he said, according to Sunday World.

“And Bill doesn’t shy away from the exploration of that. He is so brave in that sense. 

“And it was fun for him to surprise me and surprise himself and surprise everyone with new stuff. 

“And it was, we even discussed with him before shooting we said, ‘Let’s go crazy.'”

Attention will soon turn to sequel It: Chapter Two, which is due in 2019.

Stranger Things season 2 has been called bigger, more ambitious, and scarier. There aren’t too many scares in season one, as I recall, but producer Shawn Levy says parts of the new season are going to make “the Demogorgon look quaint.” Matt and Ross Duffer‘s Netflix series also isn’t going to give into fan service, like bringing back a dead character because she’s beloved on the Internet.

The makers of the show have said time and time again season 2 is going to take a darker turn. All is not going to be well for Will Byers (Noah Schnapps), for example. “Something happens to Will in the first couple of episodes that’s very, very disturbing,” Finn Wolfhard (Mike) said. After spending time in the Upside Down world, he returned to his family and friends with a few side effects.

Levy told THR on Facebook Live season 2 is scarier but it has “the best heart”:

Season two makes the Demogorgon look quaint. I was just in the edit room with the brothers yesterday, and we’re like, “this is definitely darker, I hope everyone’s down with this,” because the threats to Hawkins and to our characters are bigger, darker, often times scarier. So people who found season one too scary for them, probably you’re going to be more scared by season two. But again, the best thing I can tell you is that through it all, it’s got the best heart. But it is, cinematically and budgetary, it’s definitely more ambitious.

The Real Steel director also echoed some of actor David Harbour‘s previous comments regarding the upcoming season. The next Hellboy star has said they’re taking “a lot of risks” and “people are going to be pissed off by things.” Levy said the Duffer Brothers are more than okay with not delivering what fans think they want:

We are going to do things that fans will be disappointed in, but I think they will be more satisfied by… I’ll give one example that I’ve been asked about a hundred times which is people still think Barb’s alive. Because you think you want that, but you wouldn’t really want that. I’ve had a lot of people, some huge celebrities come up to me at these awards shows, like, “So, between us, Barb’s coming back, right?” I’m like “No, you saw, she had like a creature, slug, worm, snake, coming out of her mouth. I don’t know that there’s a bounce back from that!” So no, we are not going to cravenly service the wish-list of fans, we’re going to service the Duffer instincts and what they feel is the right story to tell.

Barb’s death could not have been more certain in season 1 and Levy’s right – the last thing real fans would want is a ridiculous cheat to bring the character back. As passionate as Stranger Things fans are, it’s refreshing to hear the Duffer Brothers and all involved are okay if the story they want to tell frustrates viewers. After all, fan service is disappointing, more often than not.

Stranger Things season 2 debuts on Netflix October 31.

As if appearing in one global cultural phenomenon was enough, the British actress is now set to headline two of them.

Clarke already stars as Danaerys Stormborn on HBO’s enormous small screen titan Game of Thrones but has been cast in the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo standalone movie.

Although she regularly kills (and sometimes burns alive) her enemies as the Targaryen queen, Clarke says that working on the Star Wars movie is “even scarier.” 

But not for the reason you think.

Star Wars fans are geting used to their universe turning a little darker. Rogue One was unsparingly brutal and didn’t hesitate to kill all of its heroes by the end. Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi is already promising to be the darkest film of the franchise yet.

So, how could the Han Solo standalone movie be so scary to work?

Isn’t it supposed to be a space cowboy romp introducing us to one of the most fun characters in the galaxy? 

Unsurprisingly, Ridley wasn’t talking about the plot of the movie and there is a very simple reason for that. Star Wars secrecy and confidentiality remains as iron-clad as always.

No information at all has been released yet, not even the name of the character she will play alongside Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han.

She said: “I genuinely can’t tell you anything other than Alden is magnificent, and it’s a delight to do something on that level with really cool actors and nice people.

“But it’s even scarier talking about that than Game of Thrones.”

Clarke admitted that none of the Game of Thrones characters were ever told anything about upcoming storylines, either.

She said: “No-one knows anything. No-one is told anything. It’s all crazy.

“It’s a secret from the cast. We generally can’t be trusted. They pretty much have told us so.”
