Crash-landing on a foreign planet must be incredibly difficult for an extraterrestrial to handle, but Resident Alien‘s resident alien isn’t the only one dealing with some massive baggage. While Harry continued learning how to pass as human by studying Anne Hathaway photos and brushing his face instead of his teeth (he’s a work in progress, that one), it was nurse Asta Twelvetrees (Sara Tomko) who showed her vulnerable side on Wednesday’s episode. As she continued to mourn the late Dr. Sam Hodges, she revealed the truth behind her relationship with her dad, Dan, allowing Harry the chance to further explore his newfound empathy, as unnatural as it may seem to him. (Though it sure looks like he has a better grasp of human emotion than dental hygiene.) While Asta was ultimately adopted by her dad as a child, it was Hodges who was “like a father to Asta,” Tomko tells TVLine. Yet still, the love she experienced from Hodges and her community couldn’t prevent feelings of loneliness from creeping in, which led her down a questionable path of bad decisions and even worse men. “She feels mostly isolated and doesn’t quite know where she fits in,” says Tomko. “It’s very internal, a lot of insecurities and vulnerabilities. We see her stumbling out of this abusive relationship, and then this weird guy comes in the day after she discovered her father figure and friend dead. That is so deep. And [Harry] just comes in and is like, ‘This is awesome!’ It is so offensive! There are so many reasons for her to hate Harry, and yet he has something that she’s never experienced before with any man, and that’s this ability to be brutally honest.” “There’s a familiarity she has with him. He looks and acts like an outsider, and that’s a mirror reflection of how Asta feels,” says Tomko. “It’s a beautiful, relatable theme that a lot of people will be able to appreciate and respect… that feeling of ‘even when I’m surrounded by so much love, I feel like I don’t fit in.’ And then finding someone you feel like you fit in with? That’s a pretty incredible feeling.” Adds creator and EP Chris Sheridan: “Even though Asta was raised in a reservation, she feels a bit like an outsider. And she has other issues she’s been going through, with a baby she had to put up for adoption when she was 16, and her horrible abusive marriage. Through all the hard times, she always had Sam to talk to. Without him there anymore, she’s going to have to face these things head-on.” Unfortunately for Asta, things aren’t about to lighten up anytime soon. Tomko teases that Asta will have yet another bump in the road come Episode 5, but until then, viewers can continue snacking on Harry’s journey, as he explores “the inner workings of how to feel these new feelings he’s never felt before.” As for the rest of Asta’s Season 1 arc, it’s bound to get even messier. “There is some clarity and closure for Asta in some of her storyline and relationships, but not much, so it’s a little messy from beginning to end,” notes the actress. “But I will say there’s a light at the end of her tunnel. She’s so good at standing up for others, but you start to see her really learn how to stand up for herself.” Any early theories on who killed Sam, and what do you think about Asta and Harry’s budding friendship? In The Chase, which originated across the pond on ITV in 2009, four contestants work for the benefit of the team as they face “The Chaser,” a “ruthless quiz genius who is determined to stop them winning at all costs” (as described by UKGameShows.com). The View‘s Sara Haines, meanwhile, has been tapped to serve as host. A premiere date will be announced at a later date. With some slight gameplay tweaks, The Chase was first adapted for U.S. audiences in 2013 by Game Show Network. Brooke Burns hosted and English quizzer Mark Labbett served as “The Chaser,” who was also nicknamed “The Beast.” Holzhauer appeared on that version, setting records for both the early Cash Builder round and the Final Chase (in which he contributed 19 of his team’s 26 correct answers, compared to The Beast’s six). ABC’s The Chase is produced by ITV America’s ITV Entertainment, with Adam Sher, Bernie Schaeffer and Vin Rubino serving as executive producers. In the Stranger Things season one finale fans were launched into Hopper’s (Played by David Harbour) harrowing backstory that revealed he once had a daughter called Sara who sadly passed away. While Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper set off to find Will in the Upside down, Hopper recalled a memory of his daughter triggered by Joyce having difficulty breathing in the new atmosphere. Fans will remember the unexpected flashback scene that saw Hopper’s young daughter struggle to breathe as she battles cancer. A later scene in the Netflix Sci-fi showed Sara is holding a stuffed tiger as Hopper reads to her in a hospital bed, as she slowly drifts away leaving her parents devastated. However, one clever theory suggests Sara is actually still alive, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is revealed as Hopper’s daughter in a clue fans missed. Viewers will remember the scene in the season one finale that saw Hopper exit the hospital and get into a black car with two men in suits. However, the fan noticed something strange about the vehicle’s number plate. Reddit user WaffleStomper1229 read: “The camera hangs on the license plate for about 2 seconds and the plate reads “2Xw91E1” Which I interpreted as ‘Two times, watch 9-1 Episode 1’ On a rewatch of the episode, the fan noticed the open shot after the credits was of a drawing on Chief Hopper’s living room wall. the fan continued: “The drawing is a stick figure drawing of presumably Hopper, his wife and daughter. READ MORE: Stranger Things season 4: The American’s identity revealed? “It is in the same style as the drawing that Hopper finds when he breaks into the lab earlier in the season when he thinks Will is being held hostage by the ‘Government Organization’. Moreover, the episode referred to the episode fans met Hopper’s daughter and the similarities between her and Eleven when she wears the blonde wig. The user added: “Earlier in the season Eleven is looking at her reflection with the blonde wig on and is fascinated with how she looks. “Hopper believes that the government can completely cover up someones death, even though doctors have presumed the person dead and realizes this to be true” Fans will remember the two faked deaths in season one when Hopper discovers Will’s body is a fake at the morgue, and also the lie that Eleven was miscarried when she was actually taken to a lab as a subject. The fan concluded: “What if that was all a red herring? What if 11 is not this woman’s daughter but is actually the daughter of Chief Hopper?” The theory comes after the original script pitched by the Duffer brothers made a shock revelation about Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) sexuality. Will’s introduction reads: “WILL BYERS, twelve, is a sweet, sensitive kid with sexual identity issues.” “He only recently came to the realisation that he does not fit into 1980s definition of ‘normal.’ His innocent choices, such as his colourful clothes, prove a constant source of bullying. “Like Mike, Will escapes through fantasy gaming, where he can be himself, uninhibited.” Stranger Things series 3 is now available to stream on Netflix. The actress took to Twitter on Wednesday to address speculation that her current Madam Secretary gig is preventing her from making a future appearance on Grey’s, where she played Dr. Callie Torres for 10 seasons before leaving the show in 2016. Quick refresher: During an Instagram Q&A in August, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes strongly intimated that she had reached out to CBS about a potential Grey’s encore for Ramirez (in the Season 14 finale, specifically), but the Eye Network put the kibosh on it. “Let me tell you something — we tried,” Rhimes said at the time. “CBS has a hold of her. Because she’s on [Madam Secretary] and we can’t get her. But we love her. Always. This is her home. Come home, Callie.” However, in a tweet on Wednesday, Ramirez denied that CBS won’t let her return to Grey’s, saying, “For the record @CBS has been nothing but gracious and generous to me. They are open to Callie coming back! The ball is in @ABCNetwork’s court.” CBS declined to comment on Rhimes’ initial Q&A, but a source at the network maintained to TVLine at the time that no one from ABC or Grey’s ever reached out about Ramirez’s availability. Today saw Michael, 56, and Sara, 43, presented This Morning as usual hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy their summer holiday. However, today’s phone-in left Sara lost for words as viewers on the ITV show rang up to ask agony aunt Deidre to discuss the difficulties involved in wanting to tell a loved one they need to lose weight. One guest, “John” began: “I just wanted to say thank you for letting me come through today and give you a call.” However, it transpired “John” wasn’t all that he seemed. He continued: “I love you Deidre, I love you very much but I’m actually calling because I’m a huge Michael Ball fan. “And I just wanted to give you a call because I saw you presenting This Morning and I just wanted to say hello Michael!” A obliging host, Michael then bid a friendly “hello” to the caller. Sara asked: “Did you want some help with your partner? Is that right?” He confessed: “No, thank you. My partner’s fine. I just wanted to speak with Michael because he’s such a beautiful man. I love Michael so much. “Michael, listen, I actually sing with you sometimes in the shower.” “Do you?” Michael asked, before his face made it clear he knew who he was really taking to. “I thought I recognised your voice!” Michael declared before the text on screen revealed it was really Alfie Boe on the line. “How did you get it that quick?” Alfie, 44, questioned. “I’ve been practicing all morning!” Michael laughed “It’s Alfie Boe! You swine! You frightened the life out of me then.” “It’s not often I’m speechless,” Sara admitted. Meanwhile, those watching at home were tickled by the moment, and some thought Michael looked rather shocked. “Today Michael Ball, I’m going to be John but really I’m Alfie Boe #Thismorning,” one joked. Another observed: “Michael ball s**t his pants when Alfie first started to speak. Don’t think he knew where it the call was going #thismorning.” “Hahaha it’s Alfie Boe on #thismorning jokes,” a third stated. A fourth added: “Omg!!! Its Alfie Boe #Thismorning.” This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV. Apple is singing a new tune, with a key assist from Sara Bareilles. The BBC Two dating programme sees city-dwellers trudging out to the countryside to find love in the peace and quiet.
Radio host Sara Cox previously admitted she was eager to help provide struggling singletons with an opportunity to find their match in life, which is particularly hard for those living in areas with smaller populations.
But even 43-year-old Sara was shocked by the latest twist in one couple’s tale tonight.
Farmer Ed was forced to choose between two incredible women on the reality programme tonight – Scottish-born Lisa and business development officer Rebecca.
His first one-to-one date with Lisa turned incredibly awkward, as the quiet contestant realised there was no chemistry between them.
But the direct Lisa simply wanted a straight answer from her date, and she pushed him to clarify his feelings early on during their dinner.
Clearly uncomfortable with the situation, Ed eventually shared the truth, and viewers were convinced Lisa was “better off without him”.
Yet the dashing farmer was in for another dramatic scenario later on in the episode, as his second option Rebecca turned out to be his perfect match.
The couple shared a sizzling meal in a Chinese restaurant, and bonded over their mutual love of the country.
Ed even revealed how much he loved a woman who “could speak another language”.
But the real revelation came when host Sara told viewers she was headed over to Ed’s farm to speak to the couple.
Concluding it had been six weeks since the pair went on their life-changing date, Sara seemed stunned to learn that Rebecca had moved in a month ago, and not left since.
She quickly became overjoyed at the couple’s whirlwind romance, and even brought up wedding bells.
“Can I buy a hat?” she giggled, as Rebecca told her to hold-fire on the prospect.
“I do get over-excited about these things,” Sara then laughed.
“It’s all very unexpected,” Rebecca admitted, unable to hide her feelings for Ed.
“But rather lovely,” the presenter added.
Will the couple stay together? Or will Rebecca realise the countryside is not for her?
Meanwhile, farmer Wendy found love with second suitor Paul, and sadly Simon was sent packing.
Love in the Countryside continues Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC Two.
Congratulations are in order for Sara Bareilles, who was just promoted from Waitress to hostess.
