It’s not the full-blown crossover some fans have been waiting for, but Riverdale does receive a pair of shout-outs (and then some) in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s just-released Part 3. (This is probably where we should warn you that you’re about to encounter a few minor spoilers from Part 3. Super minor. Still, consider yourself warned.) The eight new episodes, which dropped Friday, send Sabrina and her friends on an epic quest for a collection of supernatural relics, one of which they discover is hidden in — wait for it — Riverdale. With Ambrose by her side, Sabrina pops over to Betty and Veronica’s hood in Episode 3, though you’ll be disappointed to know that neither character makes her acquaintance. In fact, we don’t even see the actual town, as the Spellmans’ search is confined to the woods. Greendale’s neighboring town is referenced again in Episode 6 during a conversation between Hilda and Dr. C. When he asks if there’s anything he can get for her, she says, “There’s this diner in Riverdale. It sells the juiciest hamburgers and the thickest milkshakes.” Though she doesn’t mention it by name, she’s clearly referring to Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, the popular establishment frequented by the likes of Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones. And while we don’t actually get to see Dr. C step foot in the iconic diner, at least we know that Hilda must have been there several times; there’s no telling with which Riverdale favorites she has unknowingly crossed paths. And this doesn’t technically count as a Riverdale connection, but fans of the CW series were likely glad to see actress Nathalie Boltt (aka Penelope Blossom) show up in the premiere of Part 3. (Click here for our full recap of Episode 1.) Riverdale has been referenced several times throughout Sabrina’s first two parts, with the biggest connection being the appearance of Riverdale‘s Ben Button (played by Moses Thiessen) as a pizza delivery boy. Are you still dreaming of the day that Sabrina meets Archie and the gang? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
Fair warning, witches: We’re about to spoil Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Part 3 premiere. Abandon complaints, all ye who enter here! Exactly one month has passed since Sabrina Spellman trapped her father inside her boyfriend and sent them both to hell, and not a day has gone by that she hasn’t attempted (and failed) to rescue poor, hot Nicholas from the underworld. Fortunately, she’s aided by the world’s most understanding ex-boyfriend, who tells Sabrina that he’ll guard the mine “as many times as you want” while she attempts to open the fiery gates. Few, if any, high school-aged boys are capable of such blind loyalty, but it’s long been established that Harvey Kinkle is a prince among exes. We stan. After accepting that some gates weren’t meant to be opened, Sabrina turns to Dorian for assistance, using one of his paintings as a back-door portal to Madam Satan’s dominion. (She promises to bring back an unholy flower capable of healing his pimple. Because why not.) Naturally, Sabrina’s three human pals — who have since formed a bitchin’ garage band called The Fright Club — follow her to hell, which looks a little different than she envisions in her nightmares. In fact, the real hell turns out to be more like The Wizard of Oz, complete with a cursed brick road, a tortured scarecrow (Theo’s uncle!) and an evil tin man (Harvey’s brother!). Following a close encounter with a few more familiar faces, Sabrina’s squad is summoned to meet with Lilith, who still looks a lot like Ms. Wardwell. (As she rightfully explains, “a face like this is hard to beat.”) The self-crowned queen of hell offers to return Nick to the land of the living in exchange for Sabrina’s public support of Lilith’s claim to the throne. It seems like a perfectly fair trade, as far as deals with the devil go, but it isn’t long until the plan hits a pretty serious snag. Sensing this discord from within Nick’s shirtless frame, Lucifer takes a break from their eternal shirtless wrestling match to give his disobedient daughter a shirtless pep talk. Sure, he intends to torture the ever-loving crap out of her for everything she’s done, but first, it’s her duty as a Morningstar to assume the throne and maintain the cosmic balance. Her friends, as always, remain dopily optimistic about Sabrina’s abilities to juggle life as a “cheerleader by day, queen of hell by night,” all the while blissfully unaware that a sinister group of pagans has just entered Greendale — and hell will soon become the least of their concerns. Elsewhere in the premiere… * After a month of housing the students from the Academy of the Unseen Arts at the Spellman Mortuary, Zelda reaches her breaking point. (Not only is there no hot water for her bath — again! — but she’s tired of having to dress everyone in clothes made out of curtains, Enchanted-style.) She decides to reopen the academy, appointing herself its new directrix and glamouring Hilda to look like Father Blackwood. (They can’t have that pesky Witches Council suspecting that something is up!) And with the Dark Lord out of commission, Zelda’s shrinking coven turns to a new power source. All hail Madam Satan! * Speaking of Blackwood, Prudence and Ambrose’s hunt for the problematic priest brings them to New Orleans, where Prudence traps him by masquerading as * And poor Ms. Wardwell returns to Baxter High with no freaking clue what happened in the three months she spent under Madam Satan’s influence. This time around, though, she’s just a teacher, as opposed to the school’s fearsome principal. (I guess neither of Michelle Gomez’s characters are fit to rule.) Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are part of the same universe and made largely by the same team and yet have had only minimal crossover. That could all change, however, on the former series’ first-ever Halloween episode, coming this October to The CW and Netflix. Here’s everything the showrunners have said about a CAOS and Riverdale crossover so far. As this year will be the first-ever Halloween episode of the series, it would certainly be a missed opportunity we did not get a little Greendale in Riverdale. However, the showrunners have previously spoken about the difficulty of the two worlds crossing ever. Season one of Sabrina, however, saw Ben Button (played by Moses Thiessen) cameo on the Netflix show after dying in Riverdale, so a crossover is definitely possible. The Riverdale Halloween episode was revealed by Betty Cooper actress Lili Reinhart at San Diego Comic-Con. READ MORE: Riverdale season 4: Bosses tease major crossover with shock twist She said: “There is a Halloween episode which is going to be fun.” However, she warned: “I’m sure someone will die in it, because why wouldn’t that happen?” Previously, Riverdale and CAOS showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ruled out a Sabrina and Riverdale crossover. He revealed to EW that at one point, he had intended Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) to arrive in Riverdale at the end of series one and have her become the villain in season two. READ MORE: Riverdale: Which cast members will appear in Katy Keene crossover? However, he said he decided against this because: “It felt like if Riverdale is crime and pulp and all that stuff, then Sabrina could be horror. “It felt like there was a separation between Greendale and Riverdale — magic should exist in Greendale, but not in Riverdale.” However, Halloween could provide a bridge between the two series, with the arrival of All Souls Day allowing the spread of dark magic into Riverdale. Then again, even if the fans want to see Sabrina and Archie team up, the cast members have previously revealed that they do not want to be part of a crossover. READ MORE: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3 Netflix release date Josie actress Ashleigh Murray told Variety: “I like the fact there is a show that is enjoyable for many people that doesn’t require capes or magicians or any sort of superpower.” Last year, former cast member Luke Perry added: “Riverdale’ is freaky on its own — We’ve managed to dial up the freak factor without magic and all that stuff.” However, that does not mean that we will not see one of Greendale’s less magical residents make an appearance. However, fans will have to tune in at Halloween to see if someone like Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch) could turn up in the series. Riverdale season 4 starts October 9 on The CW and October 10 on Netflix Riverdale is an eventful town which has had a rough few years. After a high-profile murder, a masked murderer, and a vicious board game, it couldn’t get much stranger. However, as fans of the franchise will know, Riverdale is just over the river from Greendale – home of Sabrina Spellman (played by Kiernan Shipka). While Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) and Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) have been hard at work dealing with their own issues so far, fans have been wondering when the two towns’ casts would eventually meet up. This question is exactly what Mood Magazine asked Harvey Kinkle star Ross Lynch during their interview. And, unsurprisingly, he didn’t seem able to give anything away. On whether he thought there would be a crossover between Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Ross confessed: “I don’t know, we’ll see, anything is possible. “I do like hanging out with Cole [Sprouse] and Cami [Camila Mendes] the most I would say out of that whole cast – maybe Vanessa [Morgan] too. And some of the dads on the show are pretty cool too. “We all hang out occasionally, and that really comes down to a deal that Warner Bros. and CW would have to strike.” He concluded: “So I don’t know, it’s possible, I think it would be fun.” Considering the cast have already been hanging out and – presumably – have a rapport, the crossover is extremely overdue. However it would most likely not happen anytime soon, as Sabrina is busy going to Hell to find her boyfriend. And Jughead is about to be framed for a murder (or so it looks like) so he will certainly be wrapped up in a huge plot line on Riverdale. Meanwhile Jughead star Cole recently spoke at the Riverdale panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and teased what is to come for Jughead and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). Although Betty and Jughead were on great terms when fans left them in season three, they may be forced into a tough position where their relationship is concerned. Cole explained: “I know that Betty’s storyline is much more integrated with Charles [Wyatt Nash] than Jughead’s is – at least from what I’ve read thus far. “But I don’t see it as — I mean, I’ve been asked a lot if it’s going to put tension into Betty and Jughead’s relationship. As of now, it doesn’t look like that’s where it’s going. But Jughead’s only in Riverdale on the weekends now.” In season four, Jughead will be attending a different school for his final year of high-school, splitting him from his friends – presumably causing tension between them all. He continued: “So his main storyline is the prep school, which is the sort of building blocks of the whole flash-forward thing that we’re doing with season 4, and it’s kind of the focus of the mystery this season – this very strange, elitist prep school. “But I don’t know how much interaction Charles and Jughead are actually going to have this season.” Riverdale season 4 returns to The CW and Netflix later this year. If it looked like the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars were having a little too much fun with the supernatural shenanigans of Part 2, it’s because they were. From Sabrina’s fiery resurrection to Zelda’s own red wedding, the cast relished every devilish twist. At least that’s the impression TVLine got during a recent visit to the Netflix series’ Vancouver set. Below, see what the cast told reporters about their storylines in Part 2, including one actor’s long-awaited playdate with the Spellman witches. DARK SABRINA | Exploring Sabrina’s darker tendencies has been “fun” for Kiernan Shipka, whose mission remains “making her understandable, because she’s a complex character. … Clearly, Sabrina’s made some mistakes, but at the end of the day, my main goal is to make her a person and a human being.” As for her co-stars, they just thought it was cool. “I mean, hellfire is … next-level s–t,” Chance Perdomo said. “You have to be one of the utmost powerful witches and warlocks to be able to do that.” HARVEY, THE HERO | Fact: No one was more excited for Part 2’s human-witch team-up than Ross Lynch. “I’ve actually been wanting to work with all the witches in the story a lot,” he said. “I’d love for Harvey to have a scene with Father Blackwood. I don’t know how that would work, but I think it would be really fun. Harvey gets to actually go to the Academy [in Part 2] and gets to be the hero. He gets to save Sabrina, which is … fun.” ZELDA’S WEDDING | Miranda Otto very much enjoyed the “cat and mouse” game Zelda played with Father Blackwood, one that eventually led to their unholy union, because it reinforced her character’s commitment to her family. “She’s really just after the power of being in the position of being the high priest’s wife, and everything that would ensue, and … trying to reinstate the Spellman family at the top of the covenant,” she said. “That’s her whole modus operandi.” Otto also acknowledges that in many aspects of her life, “Zelda’s like a politician … playing the long game,” so it really shouldn’t have been that surprising to see her named High Priestess at the end of Part 2 — even if she had to name herself. ROZ’S SIGHT | “I really wanted to do that justice,” Jaz Sinclair said of Roz’s bout with blindness. “We rely so heavily on our senses, and trying to learn how to exist without my vision was definitely a little bit of an undertaking. The idea of having lost my vision and then getting it back is such like a profoundly moving idea to me, like the prospect of magic being able to bring your vision back. [It was] was a pretty emotional day.” THEO’S TRANSITION | As much as Part 2 chronicled Sabrina’s transition into the magical world, another emotional story of change was happening for Theo back at school. “It’s been kind of indescribable,” Lachlan Watson said of the response to their character. “It’s something that I never really thought would happen. To be the change that I want to see has been very incredible and I’m super honored to be able to do that for people.” Added Sinclair, “We’re really trying to do it with care, really considering every step and every line. There was a bit where Susie talks to her dad and tells him that she wants to be Theo. Originally, the scene was shorter, and he was just like, ‘Okay.’ And Lachlan [Watson] had a conversation being like, ‘Hey, can we take our time with this? Maybe he’s not 100-percent sure, because that feels like more of an authentic representation to me.’ I really respect that both Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] and Lachlan are really taking the steps slowly and with care in regards to that story.” AMBROSE’S IMPRISONMENT | “I think it’s quite telling of who Ambrose is,” Perdomo said of the “tenacity, audacity and endurance” his character displayed during his incarceration. “Ambrose has been through all manner of s–t in his life, and he endures it all. All the pain, all the suffering, all the love, all the heartache, he endures everything. So the Vatican plot would be no exception. He took the fall, and he’s going to consistently take the fall. Otherwise, all of the suffering that has come because of it would have been for completely nothing. I suffered for 75 years. I might as well suffer 25 more.” What was your favorite storyline in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2? Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix and Riverdale on The CW share the same show runner in Roberto Aguiree-Sacasa and this may explain the Riverdale references in season two, episode one of the show. Season two of the hit Netflix show has just dropped and fans have been excited at a potential crossover between the two shows. In the first episode of the season, Sabrina (played by Kiernan Shipka) is attacked by demons, who say they want to kill the “half-spawn” in reference to her. She confronts them, to which they respond: “The half-witch must not ascend.” The term “ascend” will be familiar to Riverdale fans from a game between the Gryphons and Gargoyles the town is obsessed with. In the game, people have to “ascend” to join the Gargoyle King, mirroring the scenes in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans took to Twitter to moan about the references from what they see as an inferior show. One user said: “I’m getting little Riverdale vibes from the second part of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. That is not a good thing!” Other fans welcomed a potential crossover between the shows, with one Twitter user saying: “I’m just sitting here wondering when Riverdale and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are going to come together and make a spin off.” Another added: “Am I the only one to notice that the Dark Lord in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the Gargoyle King in Riverdale are practically the same creature?” There are huge similarities between the two characters, which could mean that characters from both programmes could meet in a standoff with the Dark Lord and Gargoyle King as the same threat. The identity of the Gargoyle King remained a mystery until Tall Boy (Scott McNeil) was unmasked as the creature by Jughead Jones (Cole Spouse). However, he is potentially not the only Gargoyle King. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season two ends with the so-called ‘fright club’ of Sabrina, Harvey (Ross Lynch), Theo (Lachlan Wilson) and Roz (Jaz Sinclair) pledging to head into Hell and retrieve Nicholas (Gavin Leatherwood). Nicholas had previously bound Lucifer Morningstar (Luke Cook) inside him to prevent the Dark Lord from unleashing the apocalypse on Greendale and the Earth. Lilith (Michelle Gomez), who has become the Dark Lady herself now that Lucifer is banished, had sent Nicholas into Hell with the Dark Lord after Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo) cast a sleeping spell on him. Nicholas and Sabrina’s love had been previously tested in the finale after Lucifer revealed that he had told him to get close to Sabrina. However, Nicholas told her that he had fallen in love with her after all. Sabrina initially distrusts Nicholas because of this revelation, but by the end is literally ready to go to Hell and back for him. Riverdale in on a break until Wednesday April 17 when episode 18 airs. Season three has five episodes left, which will air weekly when Riverdale is back on. Newly released photos for Riverdale season three show Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa) enter a boxing match and the images suggest he will not exit unscathed. Archie is seen squaring up to an older-looking fighter and is then seen with a big gash on the left side of his face. Riverdale season three, episode 18 is released on Wednesday 17 April on The CW in the US, and Thursday morning at 9am on Netflix in the UK. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 may have only just been released on Netflix, but many fans have already made it to the ending. The Sabrina ending explained more about Sabrina’s (played by Kiernan Shipka) family and teased the plot for the upcoming series. Netflix viewers who have not made it to the end of CAOS series two yet should look away now… CAOS season two ends with the so-called ‘fright club’ of Sabrina, Harvey (Ross Lynch), Theo (Lachlan Wilson) and Roz (Jaz Sinclair) pledging to head into Hell and retrieve Nicholas (Gavin Leatherwood). Lucifer revealed that he is the father of Sabrina after Edward Spellman (Georgie Daburas) made a deal with him when he and his wife could not get pregnant. WHO IS IN THE CAST OF CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA SEASON 2? This explained why the Dark Lord wanted Sabrina as his Queen of Hell. However, this also ended up as Lucifer’s undoing, as it caused Lilith, who had been his maiden for millennia, to turn against him in jealousy. However, the episode saw not only Lucifer being defeated but also saw the beginning of Father Blackwood’s (Richard Coyle) downfall. After Blackwood found out that Sabrina was the child of the Dark Lord, he poisoned the entire coven rather than have let Sabrina rule over them. HOW MANY EPISODES ARE THERE IN CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA SEASON 2? This leads to Prudence (Tati Gabrielle) turning against her father after she finds Dorcas (Abigail Cowen) and Agatha (Adeline Rudolph) near death. Luckily, Hilda and Zelda are able to revive them and Prudence sets off on a mission to get her revenge on her father. Also at the end of Sabrina season two, Lilith gave two gifts to Sabrina for her role in trapping Lucifer. The first is to grant Sabrina her powers back after she gave them up to create the mandrake and the second was to give Mrs Wardwell her body back. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s titular teenage witch flirted with the dark side in Part 1, but when the Netflix drama returns for Part 2 on Friday, she’s ready to make a serious commitment. “Her duality is strong — there’s a strong part of her that’s mortal, but I do think there’s that dark side in her,” Kiernan Shipka told TVLine and other outlets during a recent visit to the show’s Vancouver set. “Playing with that has been super fun. She’s really excited about [the path she’s on] right now.” Indeed, Part 2 puts our girl Sabrina on entirely new path, one lined with new frenemies, romances and dangers. And if Sabrina thought that blending her mortal and magical circles would make things less complicated, she’s in for a rude awakening. “Now that Sabrina’s friends know that she’s a witch — and they’re not about to be killed — they can talk about it more,” Shipka says. “It’s a massive shift in the friendship because they know so much more about her.” In addition to what Part 2 has in store for Sabrina, we also chatted with Ross Lynch (Harvey), Gavin Leatherwood (Nick), Chance Perdomo (Ambrose), Jaz Sinclair (Roz), Lachlan Watson (Susie), Adeline Rudolph (Agatha), Richard Coyle (Blackwood), Lucy Davis (Hilda) and Miranda Otto (Zelda) about what we can expect from their characters in the coming episodes. You see, hell’s royal court isn’t exactly keen on “Lucifer’s concubine” (and that’s among the nicer things they label her) calling the shots, nor do they fancy the idea of an earth-dwelling child like Sabrina sitting on the throne — regardless of it being her birthright. Instead, the kings of the netherworld propose a more pec-tacular option in the form of Caliban, a golden-haired prince who was forged from hell’s scorched terrain.Penelope Blossom a classy lady named Ms. DuBois. Unfortunately, “Blackwood” reveals himself to be a mere henchmen, disguised to look like his leader — an extremely common occurrence in this episode, apparently. Traditional magic clearly won’t cut it, so the duo turns to voodoo for assistance, eventually tracking Blackwood to Scotland. More specifically, Loch Ness. (Yes, that Loch Ness.)

It’s the holiday season… but it always seems to be Halloween on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, doesn’t it?
Netflix just released a trailer for Sabrina‘s upcoming holiday special A Midwinter’s Tale (debuting Friday, Dec. 14 on the streamer), and despite the festive trappings, things are still spooky as hell in Greendale. Wooden dolls are coming to life, ghosts and demons lurk around every corner, and Sabrina’s aunts Zelda and Hilda light a yule log in the fireplace because “who knows what might come down our chimney?” Cue a creepy Santa, who tries to kidnap someone in his big red bag.
We also see Sabrina and her witch pals join forces for a holiday seance to contact Sabrina’s late mother, a scary white ghost creep up on Ambrose, holiday elf Susie have a close encounter with a demon and Sabrina walk into a truly twisted nativity scene. (Not exactly Perry Como, we know.) “Is this what Christmas is like being a witch?” Rosalind asks Sabrina.
“Not usually,” Sabrina replies, but she quickly corrects herself: “Except kind of.”
