This week’s Saturday Night Live turned the NATO summit into the stuff of high school drama, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (played by Jimmy Fallon), French President Emmanuel Macron (Paul Rudd) and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (James Corden) sitting pretty at the cool kids’ table in the summit cafeteria. When Alec Baldwin’s President Trump entered the room, looking for a place to eat his four hamburgers, the trio pointed him in the direction of… nerdy Latvia. “Oh, my God, I’m at the loser table!” it dawned on Trump. “I can’t believe they made me sit with the foreign kid.” Meanwhile, the “cool” politicians gossiped about Trump (“Did you hear him talk about climate change? He said we need stronger toilets”) before inviting him to their totally real party… under the London Bridge. “You like younger women, but this party only has Macron’s wife,” who is older, Johnson joked. To which Trump happily replied, “I like when it’s mean, but not about me.” After Johnson slapped an “Impeach me!!!” sign on Trump’s back, and as Angela Merkel geeked out over getting invited to sit with Macron & Co., the teasing was interrupted by a PSA from First Lady Melania Trump, reminding viewers that bullying is “a serious problem.” Speaking of things that are a problem… “And also, I’d like to tell you about Peloton,” Melania continued. “Are you scared woman who’s trapped inside a mansion? Why not imagine biking away from it all on Peloton?” What did you think of SNL‘s latest cold open? Visit this page later for full video, then check back Sunday for a full recap of the episode.

If adding Paul Rudd to any film or TV project makes that project better — and I think we can all agree it does — Netflix doubles down on that notion with its new series Living With Yourself, debuting next Friday, Oct. 18 on the streamer. (I’ve seen all eight episodes.) The immensely likable Rudd puts his casual charisma to great use here in a boldly surreal, Charlie Kaufman-esque sci-fi comedy, and though it runs out of narrative gas in later episodes, the unapologetically weird concept and Rudd’s appeal make it worth sticking around to see how it all turns out.
Rudd is perfectly cast as Miles, a sad-sack corporate lump who gets a tip from a newly rejuvenated coworker: a mysterious “spa” that turned his life around. Desperate for a change, Miles takes the cash he and his wife were saving for fertility treatment and hands it over to the sterile, dystopian spa, which promises to rebuild his DNA “better than ever.” But after a mishap amusingly scored to Enya’s syrupy New Age staple “Orinoco Flow,” Miles wakes up buried in a shallow grave out in the woods, wrapped up in cellophane. He hobbles home to find another man in his bed — another him, in fact!
Yes, the spa cloned Miles, making a better version of him and implanting it with all of his memories. (The old body is usually dissolved. They do offer him a discount for the inconvenience, though.) It’s a rich set-up full of existential angst that serves as a wicked jab at self-improvement culture: If you had to hang out with the best version of yourself, would you even like them? Always beaming with a goofy smile, New Miles is reinvigorated at work and sees his wife with freshly appreciative eyes… and Old Miles resents him for it. The clone and the original eventually strike a deal, and the story takes some hilarious turns as their arrangement shifts from cooperative to adversarial.
For such an inventive premise, though, Living With Yourself (created by Daily Show alum Timothy Greenberg) doesn’t get as fully wacky as one might hope; it’s not as interested in exploring all the implications of its alternate world as, say, The Good Place is. It also feels a bit stretched thin at times: It doubles back a lot to tell the same events from a different perspective, which starts to get monotonous. (File this along with the many other streaming shows that would probably work better as a movie.) The comedic elements are consistently sharp and clever, but when it tries to get serious, it wobbles noticeably, and the supporting cast is too sparse. As Miles’ wife Kate, Irish comedian Aisling Bea isn’t given much to do beyond reacting to Miles’ antics, and Alia Shawkat pops up occasionally as Miles’ bohemian half-sister, but not often enough to make an impact.
I’m not sure all of this would work nearly as well without Rudd at its center, honestly, but his innate charm helps hold those thin narrative strands together. We already know he’s a gifted comedic actor from his years in the Judd Apatow film universe, and he invests both Miles — Mileses? — with plenty of pathos, making both versions feel distinct. (You can tell them apart by their hair: New Miles is always flawlessly coiffed, while Old Miles’ hair is droopy and a bit sad.) It’s an incredibly entertaining dual performance that carries Living With Yourself… even when the show’s initial spark begins to fade.
THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: Paul Rudd is delightful (twice over) as a man at war with himself in Netflix’s surreal sci-fi comedy Living With Yourself.

It was this weekend’s second most anticipated finale!
Saturday Night Live closed out its 44th season with fourth-time host Paul Rudd and a near equal ratio of good-to-bad sketches, ranging from a Grace and Frankie rap (which you can watch here) to an Oval Office sing-along.
The Artist Formerly Known as Mike Hannigan (or Bobby Newport, depending on your NBC comedy preference) has always brought his A-game to Studio 8H, and last night was no exception. With that being said, this episode belonged to Leslie Jones. The Weekend Update frequenter discussed the war on women’s reproductive rights, then explored a polyamorous relationship with Rudd and Kyle Mooney.
Scroll down for highlights from the final show of the year, then check back next Saturday for our annual ranking of every Season 44 episode.
BEST: LESLIE JONES ON ALABAMA’S ABORTION BAN
Jones rolled into Weekend Update dressed as a handmaid, then removed her robe to reveal a T-shirt with the word “Mine” and an arrow pointed due south. “Why do all of these weird-ass men care about what women choose to do with their bodies?” she asked. “Look, the fact that nine states are doing this means that this really is a war on women — and if you’re a woman out there, and you feel scared or confused, just know that you aren’t alone.”
BEST: LESLIE & KYLE
If you tuned in hoping for a Vogelchecks sketch, you were fresh out of luck. The only slobbery French kissing that Rudd did this weekend was with Kyle Mooney after he agreed to be a third member of the show’s ongoing faux romance.
BEST: WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
Rudd’s Louis was the biggest dolt of all in this gem of a game-show sketch. First, he mistook a picture of a young girl’s pigtails for shrimp. Later, he posited that a laptop had a computer virus, “and I hate to tell you, but it’s AIDS.” Kenan Thompson’s reactions were gold.
HONORABLE MENTION: A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME
It might be time for Kate McKinnon to retire Ms. Rafferty. The initial “Close Encounter” sketch was an instant classic, but the character keeps resurfacing to diminishing returns. I laughed only once this time, when Ms. Rafferty revealed that she was chosen by the alpha female to be her new girlfriend. (“I ain’t really into ladies,” she explained, but “if nothing else is open, I’ll eat at a Taco Bell — if you know what I’m saying.”)
WORST: DON’T STOP ME NOW
Absence does not make the heart grow fonder for Alec Baldwin’s toothless impression of President Donald Trump. The blame doesn’t fall solely on him, of course. The president seems to be “on cruise control to a second term,” and SNL doesn’t know what to do with that. Case in point: this trite Queen singalong featuring myriad characters from Trump’s orbit, including Robert De Niro’s Bob Mueller and Aidy Bryant’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
WORST: MUSIC BOX
To have been a fly on the wall in Lorne Michaels’ office when this sketch was pitched! The less that’s said about this one — or more specifically, the flatulent ballerina song — the better.
What were your favorite sketches this week? And what missed the mark? Watch all of the highlights above, then grade Rudd’s finale hosting stint in our poll.

UK Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd has lashed out at European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker after footage of him kissing, bear hugging and slapping world leaders emerged.
Juncker’s “grotesque” behavior, which included him bizarrely messing up a female offical’s hair, was lambasted by Rudd, who called for an investigation into whether that type of conduct ever took place in the UK.
“It’s grotesque. I mean, if that happened in our parliament I hope there would be a formal complaint,” said Rudd to The Telegraph.
Grotesque as it may be, it’s not uncommon, says Rudd, who often faked a cold just to keep the bear hugging officials at bay.
“When I used to go the EU for meetings, I often had a terrible cold to insist that I didn’t get enveloped in a bear hug. All the EU commissioners love doing their big hugs,” she added.
In the scathing report Rudd went on to described the EU official as “ghastly” and added that she took issue with the pictures of Juncker holding Prime Minister Theresa May’s shoulder while they were engaged in a tense conversation.
“What I minded before that were those pictures of the way he was holding the prime minister. I did not like that,” she added.

Filmdom’s Ant-Man has landed a supersized Netflix gig. Paul Rudd is set to star opposite himself in Season 1 of the new comedy series Living With Yourself, TVLine has learned.
The project, which hails from Emmy and Peabody Award winner Timothy Greenberg (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart), centers on a man (Rudd) who “undergoes a novel treatment to become a better person, and finds he’s been replaced by a new and improved version.” This, according to the official logline, reveals that “his own worst enemy is himself.”
Greenberg will serve as showrunner on the eight-episode first season. He’ll executive-produce alongside Rudd, series directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Jeff Stern (Looking), Tony Hernandez (Younger) and Jeff Blitz (Trial & Error).
It looks like it’s not just Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo who can’t keep a secret.
Ant-Man may be a teeny tiny superhero but he just let slip an enormous spoiler about the ending of his latest big screen outing.
Fans already knew that Ant-Man and Hawkeye had not featured in Infinity War because they were still under “house arrest” following their actions in Civil War.
Hawkeye accepted it to protect his family, Rudd just let slip his character’s domestic situation was far less harmonious before he dropped a whopping hint about the end credit scenes and Avengers 4.
Rudd revealed that his on-screen mentor and girlfriend are not pleased about their current living arrangements. He told Late Night With Seth Meyers: “Hank and Hope, they’re not talking to me. We’re a little bit at odds.”
In fact, Rudd knows more about what is happening in the MCU than most stars because he also wrote the Ant-Man 2 script, which means Marvel bosses had to let him in on some of the biggest secrets.
He added: “It’s terrifying to know these secrets. I feel pressure but very privileged.”
And then he went ahead and revealed one of those secrets…
Rudd said of Ant-Man 2 and Infinity War: “It happens kind of concurrently. It’s very important because it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You have to stay through the end because when you see this thing, through those post-credit scenes, there’s mind-blowing stuff that ties into Infinity War.”
It seems that the post-credit scene will take the audience right to the dramatic finale of Avengers 3, The Snap and what happens next in Avengers 4.
This is reinforced by the comments made by fans and critics at preview screenings.
BenMeckler tweeted: “Some twists and turns that’ll leave those left heartbroken by the events of INFINITY WAR with something to look forward to.”
Kylie Erica Mar added: “The end credit scene is the best part of the whole film and the only thing I can think about right now.”
Brandon Davis summed it up: “Ant-Man and The Wasp has two post-credits scenes you can’t afford to miss.”

When the first trailer and posters for the Marvel epic were released, fans were quick to notice that Hawkeye and Ant-Man were missing.
In fact neither Avenger appeared on the list of actors included in the film.
Nevertheless the IMAX poster has been released, which Marvel says features a number of Easter Eggs. And now BossLogic has shared the Ant-Man one.
On the Avengers Infinity War poster, Paul Rudd’s shrinking superhero is seen clutching onto the thumb Infinity Stone slot on Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet.
Whether this is just a bit of fun or an actual teaser that Ant-Man will in fact appear in Avengers Infinity War remains a mystery.
Interestingly the next Marvel movie after Infinity War is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is set before.
So if Ant-Man does feature in Infinity War, it’ll foreshadow what is to come for him.
Perhaps it will have something to do with the Quantum Realm, which could be the key to defeating Thanos in Avengers 4.
Fans already know Loki features in Avengers Infinity War because he’s been in the trailers, but is he likely to die?
As for Ant-Man and Hawkeye, fans can only speculate.
Avengers Infinity War is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2018, while Ant-Man and the Wasp follows on August 3.
HBO’s Night of Too Many Stars, a live benefit that supports programs that aid people with autism, lived up to its name, using its star-studded line-up to tease spoilers for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode IX and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The first came in the form of an auction, in which Episode IX director J.J. Abrams — returning to the franchise after reviving it with Star Wars: The Force Awakens — sold details of the plot to the highest bidder, only to be drowned out by spoilers for Hot Tub Time Machine 3 and Sharknado 5. The second is as spoiler-y as you can get on the set of a Marvel movie, with Ant-Man and the Wasp star Paul Rudd answering questions about I Love You, Man before slipping in some details on the Ant-Man sequel.
“Has Disney okayed this?” “No, they have no idea. They’re very upset.”
Abrams’ brief quip with host Jon Stewart ahead of his auction for the secrets of Star Wars was the gist of HBO’s comedy benefit, which would’ve sent the company into panic mode to keep a tight lid on their many highly anticipated projects from their biggest franchises if the whole thing wasn’t just a fun gag.
But thankfully, they were saved by the punchline. Abrams’ auction of the secrets of Star Wars: Episode IX was interrupted by Rob Corddry jumping in to spoil Hot Tub Time Machine 3 (which may or may not still be happening), and Gilbert Gottfried describing the plot of Sharknado 5: Global Swarming — which yes, he was in. The three of them jumped to whisper in the ear of the auction winner — who only told Stewart to call him “Carlos Danger” — and the conversation immediately turns into undecipherable garbage.
However! The folks over at Slate were diligently able to pick apart the separate conversations, and determined that Abrams said this:
[inaudible] … And then… [inaudible]
Sounds like we have another box office hit, everyone. Look forward to it on December 20, 2019.
In another bit, this time pre-taped, Paul Rudd read fan questions in costume while on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp. But here’s the gag: none of the questions were about Ant-Man. We weren’t even given one about Avengers: Infinity War.
Though Rudd goes out of his way to show off his revamped Ant-Man costume and a glimpse of a guy unloading a truck on the Atlanta, Georgia set of Ant-Man and the Wasp, he solely gets questions related to I Love You, Man, his 2009 buddy-comedy with Jason Segel. But good news for I Love You, Man fans: you get to hear Paul Rudd say “slap da bass” a ton. Ant-Man and the Wasp, meanwhile, will hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
HBO’s Night of Too Many Stars is an annual benefit that draws over 2,000 fans and A-list comedians who fundraise to raise money for the Next for Autism organization. The benefit made news recently for dropping Louis C.K. from the line-up following sexual misconduct allegations.

Answering to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, the politician explained that raising the UK’s terror threat to critical should not make people worry.
She said: “Increasing it to this level is going to make people nervous. I can understand that and this decision was made independently.
“The last time it was raised it was for five days. I expect this to be temporary. We have the systems in place and we are prepared for this.
“When this operation is complete, I believe we will move back down to severe,” Rudd reassured.
Although host Morgan was keen to praise the police and security services, he noted that it is hard to do that in light of such a monstrosity.
A steely Rudd was keen to reassure the public however, simply telling viewers: “We will protect them.
“We have the systems in place and the police are taking all steps possible. Severe is also a dangerous place to be.
“We have an enemy and we need to combat them, but we need to be aware that they are there,” the Tory MP added.
Earlier in the show, Yvette Cooper faced tough questions from Susanna Reid, noting that there “needs to be more support” for those who may have information about radicalised members of the community.
Anyone with any information should call the concerned relatives’ hotline on 0161 856 9400. The national anti-terrorist hotline is 0800 789 321.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays from 6:00am on ITV.
