Coronation Street is gearing up for an explosive start to 2019.

Lewis Archer (played by Nigel Havers) is at the heart of it all as his scheming and cruel ways look set to be exposed. 

Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has so far avoided believing her daughter, Gail Platt (Helen Worth), who has been telling her he is dodgy.

But in the coming episodes, Lewis will find himself in trouble as his lies are exposed.

The Coronation Street villain has been conning numerous women and Audrey is just the latest.

Lewis and Audrey plans to go to the Bistro for a romantic dinner date to see in 2019.

However, it’s not as innocent as it seems as the latter has just realised she has been the victim of a hefty theft.

She was left a substantial fortune by Archie Shuttleworth (Roy Hudd) upon his death.

But that has since changed as it has disappeared from her account. 

Gail has planted some suspicions in her head that Lewis is the guilty party.

However, when Audrey gets to the Bistro, she discovers Lewis is nowhere to be seen. 

Immediately, she starts to think Gail might be right about her villainous lover.

Poor Audrey can’t help herself from crying as she realises she might have lost any hope of finding love again. 

But there’s good news on the horizon as she picks herself up and declares she won’t cry any more.

Will Audrey get her money back before Lewis runs off?

Gail found herself in trouble last night on Coronation Street when Lewis crept up on her.

He insisted he had had enough of her meddling and warned her to stay out of his business.

Lewis told her she would live to “regret it” if she continued.

But will she team up with Audrey before it’s too late?

Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 8pm.

Washington has been up in arms over Huawei’s worldwide expansion, “having initiated an extraordinary outreach campaign” to press its European and Asian allies to shun the world’s largest telecommunication equipment supplier, the WSJ writes, citing officials familiar with the situation.

US officials have been sounding the alarm particularly over the use of Chinese equipment by countries that host American military infrastructure. Germany, Italy, and Japan are among Washington’s closest allies that have already been briefed on the risks to which they have exposed themselves by installing Huawei equipment.

In addition to scaremongering about imminent cybersecurity threats from China, the US has also offered financial incentives to countries willing to bid farewell to the cutting-edge Chinese technology.

The WSJ reported that US officials are mulling subsidizing the purchase and maintenance of non-Chinese equipment by its allies. The perks will only be available to those who have ditched Huawei or any other Chinese equipment such as ZTE.

Washington is also considering the use of its own financial resources to boost local telecommunication industries, according to people cited in the report.

Efforts to talk its allies out of using Huawei have been ramped up in light of the looming introduction of 5G wireless networks, which are estimated to be 100 times faster than the existing 4G.

Washington fears that super-speed connections will make it easier for China to spy and even incapacitate devices such as components of manufacturing plants.

While stoking fears about China’s potential to undermine critical infrastructure, the US argues that Huawei will cave in to demands from the Chinese government, something the company vehemently denies, insisting that it is a private enterprise.

The company sees the US onslaught as an example of unfair competition. In February, six US intelligence agencies warned US citizens against buying products and using services provided by Huawei and ZTE.

FBI Director Christopher Wry said the US government was “deeply concerned about the risks” of allowing a foreign company controlled by its government to “gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks.” 

In 2014, the company was banned from bidding for US government contracts over the same spying concerns. 

In its war against Chinese tech, Washington went as far as accusing Google of being “more willing to support the Chinese Communist Party than the US military,” after the companies began a partnership to develop new standards of mobile phone messaging.

Top Huawei executive and CEO of the company’s consumer business Richard Yu called the US’ attempts to drive the company out of the markets “ridiculous,” accusing US officials of trying to “kick us from the US market” through “some political way.”

Breast cancer symptoms usually first appear as a lump or an area of thickened tissue in the breast.

But 90 per cent of breast lumps aren’t cancerous, according to the NHS, which can make knowing for definite if you have breast cancer difficult.

Women are required to get checked for breast cancer every three years once they reach the age of 25, and although it’s rare in men, there are cases of men developing breast cancer.

It’s currently not a requirement for men to get checked out, but it usually occurs in men over the age of 60. It can occur in younger men, which is why it’s important to get tested. 

If you notice a lump in your breast yourself you should see your GP as soon as possible, but there are other tests available.

Having a mammogram (a breast X-ray) is an option but this does expose you to risks.

During a mammogram your breasts are exposed to a small amount of radiation. Repeated X-rays have the potential to cause cancer, but the benefits of this screening and early detection is believed to outweigh the risks of having the X-ray.

Another option which can be done frequently without the normal risks associated with a mammogram is thermography.

This isn’t provided on the NHS but thermography, such as ThermoCheck breast thermography by The Natural Doctor, is a non-invasive technology that can detect abnormalities in breast tissue temperature.

It can also pick up changes early, meaning simple lifestyle changes such as diet, key nutrients or restoring natural hormone levels can be made in order to normalise the breast tissue, preventing cancer. 

Dr Nylon Eccles of The Natural Doctor said: “Thermography is able to spot potential health risks early meaning the benefit can actually change your life, avoiding illness that would have been otherwise unforeseeable.”

A complimentary check is currently worth £245 at The Natural Doctor. 

Another test which can be carried out to detect breast cancer is a biopsy.

Bupa explains: “This means taking a sample of cells from your breast lump to test whether it is cancerous or non-cancerous.

“There are different types of biopsy, but the most common type is called a core or needle biopsy.

“This uses a needle about the same size as the lead in a pencil.”

Before having one of these tests other symptoms of breast cancer to notice yourself include: 

  • A change in the size or shape of one of both breasts
  • Discharge from either of your nipples, which may be streaked with blood
  • A lump or swelling in either of your armpits
  • Dimpling on the skin of your breasts
  • A rash on or around your nipple
  • A change int he appearance of your nipple, such as becoming sunken into your breast
