Our selection criteria: We ask that nominees be 35 or under as of November 25, 2022, based in the US, and stand out from their peers. We are seeking the best and the brightest working in real estate in roles including, but not limited to, developers, investors, brokers, architects, builders, designers, urban planners, founders, and property managers. Editors will make final decisions.

Like Vanya, he seemed unable to control his ability to manipulate sounds waves and move things.

Harlan appeared frightened by his powers and so could accidentally end up triggering another apocalypse without meaning to.

Harlan seemed to be left to his own devices as season two ended, another worrying sign about what could happen without any guidance.

Hopefully, there’s a way Vanya could be reunited with Harlan and save from himself before it’s too late.

Fans are now waiting eagerly for news about a renewal for The Umbrella Academy season three, but viewers could be waiting a little while.

The streaming service took several months to decide whether to give season two the go-ahead, so there could be a similar wait for more news.

The Umbrella Academy is based on the comics of the same name by My Chemical Romance’s lead singer Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, so there is plenty more source material for the show to draw on should it continue.

It’s been confirmed that Jessie Buckley, Cynthia Erivo, Barry Keoghan, Lakeith Stanfield and Letitia Wright are the lucky five. The EE Rising Star Award is voted-for by the public, and it was Daniel Kaluuya who netted it in 2018, hot on the heels of the hugely acclaimed Get Out. So who will take it this time?

Buckley’s career has continued to go from strength to strength, now eleven years after she competed in the BBC One series I’d Do Anything – in which she competed for a spot in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of Oliver!, losing to Jodie Prenger.

Since then she’s gone on to star in psychological thriller Beast, which came out last year and had a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Erivo, 31, is also becoming a megastar, having achieved enormous success on stage and screen.

She was recently seen in Widows and Bad Times at the El Royale, and was also in the Broadway hit musical The Color Purple.

Keoghan, 26, was in Dunkirk and The Killing of a Sacred Deer in 2007, and had a successful 2018 in American Animals and Black ’47.

Stanfield, 27, was in Get Out, as well as the TV smash Atlanta and alst year’s The Girl In The Spider’s Web and Sorry To Bother You.

And Wright, 25, shot to global stardom last year in Marvel’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

One of them will win big at the ceremony on Sunday, February 10.

Joanna Lumley will be returning to host for the second year running, with the nominations set to be unveiled next Wednesday, January 9.

Prior to Kaluuya, other winners have included Tom Holland, John Boyega, Jack O’Connell, Will Poulter and Juno Temple.

The prize started back in 2006 with James McAvoy emerging triumphant.

Other winners over the years have included Tom Hardy and Kristen Stewart.

Plans for a Chinese bride’s dream wedding, as marvelous as her groom can afford, may have to be put on hold. Authorities say that extravagant and pricey ceremonies do not fall in line with national moral values.

The government is concerned about rising ‘bride prices’ in particular – a goodwill gesture between the two families, when the groom’s family pays a dowry to their future relatives. Another issue is that couples invite celebrities and influential people to their big day to show off in front of guests.

To battle such practices China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs convened a special meeting in Jinan, Shandong province, last week, where officials from various parts of the country ruled that marriage etiquette needs to be reformed.

Instead of lavish parties, authorities want to encourage people to celebrate the event in a more traditional and thrifty way. Moreover, the weddings should “better reflect” the country’s values and goals, and implement the leader’s political ideology, known as the “Xi Jinping Thought.”

Marriages can be a great financial burden and sometimes the groom’s family can land themselves in serious debt. Prices reportedly start from 100,000 yuan (around $ 14,500), with some costing vastly more. Last year, an 18-year-old girl in China’s eastern province of Fujian received 2.88 million yuan ($ 400,000) as a gift for her engagement, according to CGTN.

However, initiatives targeting centuries-long traditions have already sparked a public backlash. An earlier move targeting traditional burials and promoting cremation as the only method of disposal of bodies enraged locals in Jiangxi province in July. People were even trying to stop the ordered destruction and seizure of coffins by climbing inside of them, but were forcefully pulled out.

Far from overawed, Cameron Davis is embracing the pressure of trying to defend his Australian Open crown at The Lakes this week. 

Unlike last year, in his first Open as a professional and up against superstars like Jason Day and Jordan Spieth, there’ll be no flying under the radar when Davis tees off among the favourites.

The 23-year-old arrived at The Lakes for Wednesday’s pro-am full of confidence after another breakout season in 2018 that featured a commendable tie for 39th on his major championship debut at the British Open in July. The Sydneysider also won on the second-tier Web.com Tour in May, a victory that helped earn Davis his 2019 US PGA Tour card.

The tournament  is headlined by American world No.29 Matt Kuchar fresh off a PGA tournament win in Mexico. He is joined by world No.30 Keegan Bradley, he of the funky swing, No.33 Aussie Cameron Smith, 49th ranked American Brandt Snedeker and world No.51 Byeong Hun An of South Korea.

Snedeker hasn’t played the Australian Open since 2007 but the memory of his costly mistake in the final round hasn’t faded. Snedeker lost by a shot to Craig Parry when he called a penalty on himself on the 14th hole of the final round at The Australian Golf Club because the ball moved as he tried to shift some twigs around it.

“It was a no-brainer penalty,” Snedeker said.

When you think of major tech hubs in the U.S., San Francisco, Seattle or Austin likely come to mind. But just as Uber, Spotify and Airbnb are hardly the only tech companies around, booming tech cities extend far beyond the obvious suspects.

And while our featured list of unexpected tech centers is hardly definitive, it should be taken as a starter set of places to explore, live and work — revealing that investors, entrepreneurs and tech talent at large have more compelling zip codes to set up shop than ever before.

Columbus, Ohio

This Midwestern city found itself listed alongside San Francisco and Seattle earlier this year when it was named by Forbes as one of the top 10 rising cities for tech startups. Also, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Columbus grew by almost 10 percent between 2010 and 2017, reaching a population of over 860,000 — crowning it the most populous city in Ohio (Cleveland comes in second with a population of 385,800).

A major player contributing to the city’s growth is longtime resident JPMorgan Chase. The global financial firm has had roots in the area for 150 years and currently employs close to 20,000 of its residents — a number that has doubled since 2004 — including over 5,300 technologists. In fact, this major Ohio city is also home to JPMorgan Chase’s Branch Innovation Lab, where many of these technologists work on some of the most innovative financial products and services for millions of customers each year, including fingerprint-powered ATMs and virtual customer interaction.

Innovations being driven by tech leaders such as JPMorgan Chase are not only doing good for business but also doing good for the city at large. In 2016, Columbus was the sole winner of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge, a $ 50 million grant geared toward reinventing transportation and expediting infrastructure progress. The city has since leveraged the grant to secure more money from the private sector, bringing its total funding to $ 500 million. Its goal for 2020? One billion dollars.

Wilmington, Delaware

With a population of just over 70,000, Wilmington may be small, but it’s all about location, location, location. Nestled in the middle of the Eastern Seaboard, the city is 32 miles south of Philadelphia, 75 miles north of Baltimore and 123 miles from New York City — the ideal place to attract talent from several different metropolitan areas. In fact, JPMorgan Chase has more than 11,000 employees currently working in the area across all lines of business. What’s more: Delaware is a state with no corporate income tax, no sales tax and a host of other business-friendly laws.

Not surprisingly, Wilmington was recently ranked the third-best small city for tech startups by Entrepreneur and NerdWallet — both of which argue that fast-growing industries flourish in small cities such as Wilmington. “It’s easy to make things happen here as a creator,” says Rob Herrera, a Delaware native who moved from New York City to Wilmington and opened a co-working space called The Mill. “It’s a place where you can get things done with minimal red tape,” he says, adding that the state’s small enough and open enough that a relative newcomer like himself can have the governor’s number on his phone.

All of these factors are helping recruit millennials interested in tech, as more than a quarter of the city’s population is between the ages of 18 and 34. And Wilmington continues to add more and more tech jobs, with year-over-year increases topping 20 percent — significantly higher than neighboring Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

New Orleans, Louisiana

In its post-Katrina era, New Orleans — nicknamed “Silicon Bayou” — has defied its Mardi Gras reputation to become a destination for serious tech innovators.

“What New Orleans has done has been to change its focus from being almost purely a city centered around the hospitality industry to becoming a city much more focused on attracting businesses,” says Sam Olmsted, a consultant for New Orleans–based startup Align. “By offering strong financial incentives, an engaged community and an unmatched culture, New Orleans has managed to attract dozens of millennial-dominated tech startups.”

It’s no surprise, then, that within the past five years the city has created more than 14,000 jobs and received $ 7 billion in capital investment. But what exactly makes this city so appealing to tech companies and investors? For one, the state of Louisiana offers a tax incentive program for tech entrepreneurs that’s among the most generous in the country. In addition, Louisiana has committed $ 25 million to local colleges and universities to help develop professional programs that will respond to its rapidly growing tech sector.

Private institutions are also stepping up to lend a hand. For example, since 2016, JPMorgan Chase has committed over $ 5 million in philanthropic support to the greater Louisiana area. This support is bolstering initiatives that grow the New Orleans entrepreneurial ecosystem and build out pathways for successful career developments in tech.

As the rise of tech spreads to all corners of the U.S., smaller cities are not only reaping the benefits but also contributing to the economy and creating jobs that were once reserved for major coastal regions.
