  • The Carolina Panthers released a statement saying “allegations of workplace misconduct” have been made against owner Jerry Richardson.
  • The investigation is being conducted by an independent law firm and being led by one of the team’s minority owners.
  • Richardson is a former NFL player and has been the controlling owner since the franchise was founded.

The Carolina Panthers are investigating “allegations of workplace misconduct” that were made against owner Jerry Richardson.

The team released a statement on Friday evening announcing the investigation. The team did not give any details about the allegations.

According to the team, the investigation is being conducted by an outside law firm, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan, LLP, and the investigation will be overseen by former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles, who is also a minority owner of the team.

“The Carolina Panthers and Mr. Richardson take these allegations very seriously and are fully committed to a full investigation and taking appropriate steps to address and remediate any misconduct,” team spokesman Steven Drummond said. “The entire organization is fully committed to ensuring a safe, comfortable and diverse work environment where all individuals, regardless of sex, race, color, religion, gender, or sexual identity or orientation, are treated fairly and equally. We have work to do to achieve this goal, but we are going to meet it.”

Richardson is a former NFL player. He has been the controlling owner of the Panthers since the franchise was founded in 1993.

Physical clutter can be overwhelming and exhausting. We have become so consumed by stuff that at times it feels as if we have almost nowhere left to turn.

As we buy more and more, our homes, garages, attics and lives are bursting at the seams.

In fact, clutter can become part of the scenery after a while. Clearing clutter is about getting rid of anything that is no longer fit for your life and creating space for true fulfilment and joy.

Here are some top tips for ending this modern-day curse.

WHY DO YOU HOARD?

As you look around your home, think about the different types of clutter you have.

Can you find an underlying motivation for why it has built up? Ask yourself these questions.

Do you use retail therapy as a way of coping with life’s challenges? Do you buy something thinking you might need it some day?

Buying something new can give us a fix or a boost when we’re feeling low.

However when that thing becomes clutter it does more harm than good.

ClothesGETTY STOCK

When buying new clothes, go for quality over quantity

LEARN TO SAY NO

Your first line of defence with clutter management is to limit the new items you bring into your house.

This means everything from declining hand-me-downs, which is difficult because we all love a freebie, to saying no to Christmas presents and asking for a donation to your favourite charity instead.

When buying new clothes, go for quality over quantity and think about putting together a capsule wardrobe – a handful of high-quality pieces that never go out of style.

Every year 80 billion items of clothing are bought around the world, up 400 per cent from 20 years ago.

Most of these end up in landfill, even though they could be recycled.

MailGETTY STOCK

To avoid piles of paperwork building up, sort your mail as soon as it arrives

SORT OUT POST

To avoid piles of paperwork building up, sort your mail as soon as it arrives. Work out what is junk and what is important.

Put the junk mail straight into the recycling bin. To make it easy, put the bin somewhere convenient to access, perhaps at the side of dive in without a lot of thought and do some rapid-fire sorting.

Gather as many books a possible into one room and do a quick sort into piles of keep, donate and maybe.

Don’t labour over decisions, just listen to your intuition. Take the donate pile and put it in boxes by the door so you can take it to the car the next time you go to a charity shop.

Go through your keep pile. Does every book there deserve a place in your life?

If you’re on the fence, move the book to the maybe pile. Think about how the books in the maybe pile make you feel.

If the book makes you feel worse about yourself rather than excited or inspired, it’s time to say goodbye to it.

CULL CLOTHES

Statistically we wear 20 per cent of our wardrobe 80 per cent of the time so make it a habit to review your clothes regularly.

If there are items you don’t wear often, get rid of them. If you struggle to let go of clothes, ask yourself why. Do they have sentimental value?

For example do university T-shirts remind you of being young and feeling as if anything were possible? Your reluctance to part with the T-shirts could be more about wanting to feel that way again rather than the clothes themselves.

To help clear the clutter, consider how you could bring those feelings back into your life today.

BooksGETTY STOCK

Books can have a lot of sentimental value and can be hard to let go of

EDIT YOUR BOOKS

Books can have a lot of sentimental value and can be hard to let go of. In fact for many people, books feel like dear friends.

The best way to get started is to dive in without a lot of thought and do some rapid-fire sorting.

FAMILY HEIRLOOMS

Sentimental items such as children’s artwork, photos and heirlooms often have a lot of expectations and memories attached to them.

You may worry that getting rid of something means you no longer love the person the item is associated with.

If the items mean a lot to you, then honour them. However if you don’t love the items enough to use or display them, then they are clutter.

If something has been sitting in a box in storage for the past five years, it can’t mean that much to you.

Re-evaluate its worth to you and either say goodbye or make it a part of your life.

Naked Attraction's Anna Richardson SHOCKED as starkers man launches into awkward KISS https://briefnews.eu/naked-attractions-anna-richardson-shocked-as-starkers-man-launches-into-awkward-kiss/ https://briefnews.eu/naked-attractions-anna-richardson-shocked-as-starkers-man-launches-into-awkward-kiss/#respond Sat, 05 Aug 2017 16:34:06 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/naked-attractions-anna-richardson-shocked-as-starkers-man-launches-into-awkward-kiss/

Karaoke presenter Danny was disappointed when he was sent home by gym addict Sophie on the groundbreaking Channel 4 show.

Her preferences were those who were “a little more beefed up” and more well-endowed, which left Danny in the “no” pile on the first round of the episode.

But when he revealed himself to love-hopeful Sophie, the 33-year-old created an awkward scene as he leaned in for a goodbye kiss from presenter Anna Richardson too.

Jumping back in shock, Anna tried to recover, as she said: “Oh! Come on in,” before receiving the awkward peck.

Recognising the social faux pas, Anna added: “Is it a date for me?”

Danny continued to stand before the pair until the 46-year-old presenter was forced to usher him along. “Off you go,” she said more forcefully.

The women giggled as they watched him leave the stage and Anna whispered cheekily: “Could tell he was a very good kisser.”

Disappointed at his lack of success in the love department, the West Midlands native revealed afterwards how he truly felt about Sophie’s dislike of what he had to offer.

“Obviously I didn’t fit Sophie’s expectations, but maybe there’s someone out there whose expectations fit me.”

Naked Attraction continues Friday at 10pm on Channel 4.

‘Columbus’ Trailer: John Cho and Haley Lu Richardson Bond Over Architecture in a Gorgeous, Quiet Drama https://briefnews.eu/columbus-trailer-john-cho-and-haley-lu-richardson-bond-over-architecture-in-a-gorgeous-quiet-drama/ https://briefnews.eu/columbus-trailer-john-cho-and-haley-lu-richardson-bond-over-architecture-in-a-gorgeous-quiet-drama/#respond Sat, 24 Jun 2017 12:04:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/columbus-trailer-john-cho-and-haley-lu-richardson-bond-over-architecture-in-a-gorgeous-quiet-drama/ Columbus trailer

John Cho has long deserved a romantic leading man role after paying his dues for years in the broad comedy of Harold and Kumar and as second fiddle in action franchises like Star Trek. He even gave an underrated performance in Selfie, a surprisingly charming TV show with a terrible title. But now it seems like he’s finally been given the spotlight he deserves in the Sundance darling, Columbus.

And you can see him get that spotlight in the trailer for Columbus, which stars Cho as the son of an ailing professor and Haley Lu Richardson as the young drifting architecture enthusiast with whom he strikes up a friendship.

“There’s this belief that if you’re not there when a family member dies, your spirit will roam aimlessly and become a ghost,” Cho says in the opening seconds of the trailer, as the camera lingers on empty spaces and stunning architecture that are scattered across the small town of Columbus, Indiana.

The rest of the trailer is just as achingly gorgeous, as Cho’s character Jin wanders aimlessly about the town, stuck there as he waits for his comatose father to either recover or die. Along the way, he meets Casey (Richardson), a charming girl with an eye for architecture. They discuss love, life, and art, as well as their deepest conflicts — Jin with his tense relationship with his father, and Casey with her addict mother.

The film is directed by first-time feature director Kogonada, a former Criterion video essayist, and shot with gorgeous detail by cinematographer Elisha Christian.

The movie made a splash at Sundance when it premiered in January, and earned a rave review from former /Film editor Angie Han, who called it “a portrait of a rare and beautiful connection” that can be likened to profound films like “Once, Paterson, and the Before trilogy.”

Seeing the comparison to Once and the Before trilogy — some of my favorite movies — make me even more excited to see this film than I was when I realized it would be 2 hours of John Cho brooding. In addition to looking beautiful, the rapport between Cho and Richardson seems genuine and sweet, which is something that can be rare to find in even the best indie romantic films. It’ll help me forgive Richardson for always making me confuse her with Zoey Deutch.

Here’s the official synopsis for Columbus:

While his father is in a coma, Jin finds himself stuck in an unusual Midwestern city renowned for its modernist buildings. Though not fond of architecture, Jin strikes up a friendship with Casey, a bright girl who works at the city library (avoiding college and her future), and she shows him the local marvels. With a curious intimacy reserved for strangers, Jin and Casey explore both the town and their conflicted emotions: Jin’s estranged relationship with his father and Casey’s reluctance to leave her mother, a recovering drug addict.

And here’s the gorgeous poster art for the film.

Columbus, which also features Parker Posey, Rory Culkin, and Michelle Forbes in supporting roles will be released in theaters on August 4.

'I love breaking new ground' Miranda Richardson opens up about new Churchill film https://briefnews.eu/i-love-breaking-new-ground-miranda-richardson-opens-up-about-new-churchill-film/ https://briefnews.eu/i-love-breaking-new-ground-miranda-richardson-opens-up-about-new-churchill-film/#respond Tue, 13 Jun 2017 09:54:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/i-love-breaking-new-ground-miranda-richardson-opens-up-about-new-churchill-film/

Churchill film 2017 Miranda Richardson Brian Cox cast trailerFILM MAGIC

Miranda Richardson plays the wife of Winston Churchill in a new film

But as the years have gone by she has discovered the harshness of ageing. “I have had the experience of starting to feel invisible as an actor,” she says.

“I think it’s common for middle-aged women to feel that.”

Richardson, 59 – who was signed up by the prestigious Bristol Old Vic from school at just 17 – moved to London at 21 for a West End stage debut that launched a striking career.

Her riveting first film, Dance With A Stranger (1985) in which she played Ruth Ellis, the last woman hanged in Britain, kickstarted screen success with awards and recognition from Hollywood.

She received Oscar nominations for Damage (1992) and Tom & Viv (1994) and won Golden Globes for Enchanted April (1992) and the TV film Fatherland (1994).

She also became well-known to British TV audiences for playing Elizabeth I, known as Queenie, in Blackadder II (1986).

Churchill would not have been able to do what he did without the unfailing love and support of his wife

But at the very point she was enjoying her biggest successes, she now admits she felt shy and awkward.

“I remember the Blackadder producer John Lloyd being famously rude about me on the radio,” she recalls.

“He said: ‘It was the end of the day and this dishevelled creature came in, her hair looked like it hadn’t been brushed for a month and I had not seen anything less like a possible Queen.’

She is well known for her role as Queenie in Blackadder II

“I thought, ‘Oh, no, was I that bad?’ I knew I was like someone from another planet for several years but that was very embarrassing. It didn’t stop them hiring me but for the first week’s filming I was as nervous as a kitten.”

I recall the first time we met, on location in Bohemia while she was filming Fatherland at the height of her fame. She was regarded as not being particularly confident off camera.

But that is now far from the case. Her acting is as immaculate as ever and she brings realism and quality to a powerful new film, Churchill, with Brian Cox playing wartime leader Winston and she his formidable wife Clementine.

It was said that she was Churchill’s secret weapon during the Second World War, giving him confidence and support in the darkest days.

The film deals with his insecurities in the 96 hours leading up to D-Day on June 6, 1944.

He became highly stressed about the Normandy invasion, which changed the course of the war.

He feared a repeat of the ill-fated Gallipoli attack against Turkey in 1915 during the First World War when his fatal decision as political head of the Royal Navy ended in mass slaughter.

“There was a vitality in their relationship,” says Richardson.

“They had such rows. If Clemmie did not like something she would take herself off to her room. Her bedroom was her sanctuary and she would just lie there, under the sheets.

“It did not matter the time of day. If she did not like someone at the dinner table, she’d leave. I admire that about her. But she would allow Churchill to become the person he became and to fulfil his destiny.

“They also shared a sense of humour. In so many old photos together, Churchill has a twinkle in his eye and she is openly laughing. There is a line in the film which sums up their relationship. ‘It’s not easy being a leader,’ he says. She in turn replies: ‘It’s not easy being married to one, either’.”

But while Winston and Clementine may have had their differences the same cannot be said of Richardson and her co-star Brian Cox.

Although the pair had met socially before they had never worked together.

“We both loved each other’s work and it was such a nice thing,” she says.

“We don’t know why it hadn’t happened before but it has happened now. And it might happen again, who knows?”

If it has not been easy to adapt to middle-aged roles she brushes it aside.

“I did not expect anything else,” she says. “It is a fact of life and when parts like this come along, they are welcomed.”

She takes a pragmatic view on Hollywood. “I never wanted to move to LA permanently,” she says.

“I liked to go there and work and then leave. And I don’t take the roles home with me at all. I can just turn off. Some American actors like to stay in character and that strikes me as being fearful. I also like doing things I have never tried before. I would be bored otherwise.”

She’s unmarried, without children and always steers clear of any comment or gossip.

Despite being famous for much of her life she has never even been photographed with a significant other.

She has had boyfriends and has been able to conduct long-distance relationships. “I have never been at ease with the personal stuff,” she says.

“I can walk around London unrecognised for the most part. It is surprisingly easy to stay out of the gossip columns if you don’t want to be in them.”

Richardson, who grew up in Southport on Merseyside, first started thinking about an acting career by the time she reached her teens.

At 14 she was talent-spotted by an English teacher at Southport High School For Girls and pushed towards acting.

“I was not particularly academic but when we read plays in class she would always give me the great roles,” she recalls.

“That encouragement and her tuition made me think about acting for a living. It was a great moment.”

But she is the first to admit that it hasn’t always been easy. When she moved to London she needed to earn money. “I did everything and anything,” she says.

“I worked in an office and a hamburger bar to help pay the bills when I was not acting. I have been lucky enough to be independent over the years.”

However, there has been a change of emphasis during a near 40-year career. “There are ‘stars’ now who are in their teens,” she says.

“TV series have allowed that to happen. They are up and running and the quality is fantastic.”

Richardson’s quality is also seamless and her range of recent work proves she’s always looking for new challenges.

Her next major film, Stronger, follows Jeff Bauman (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) who lost both his legs in the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing of 2013.

She plays Bauman’s mother. She’s also been filming alongside Colin Firth and Emily Watson in The Happy Prince, a biographical drama about Oscar Wilde, written and directed by Rupert Everett.

But it’s the role as the smart and steely Clementine that feels like new territory for Richardson. “I love new work,” she says.

“I love breaking ground and that’s what I feel like I had the chance to do with this. My own life has been very different to Clementine’s. But Churchill would not have been able to do what he did without the unfailing love and support of his wife.”

Holly and Phil stunned as Hollyoaks’ Kieron Richardson reveals he FAKED storming off https://briefnews.eu/holly-and-phil-stunned-as-hollyoaks-kieron-richardson-reveals-he-faked-storming-off/ https://briefnews.eu/holly-and-phil-stunned-as-hollyoaks-kieron-richardson-reveals-he-faked-storming-off/#respond Wed, 26 Apr 2017 08:28:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/holly-and-phil-stunned-as-hollyoaks-kieron-richardson-reveals-he-faked-storming-off/

Fans were sent into meltdown after the 31-year-old soap star appeared to storm off after letting slip a crucial spoiler about the death of a character.

During the staged blunder, Kieron was heard asking if the show was “live” and if there were any jobs going on This Morning.

The actor from Manchester, who plays drug addict Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap, confessed in a Twitter video that it was all a hoax that saw him “reveal” who killed Amy Barnes (played by Ashley Slanina-Davies).

He shared the video yesterday which was made shortly before his appearance on the ITV breakfast show. In the clip Kieron says: “I am about to go on This Morning.

“What I’m going to do is slip-up and pretend I’ve revealed who the killer is, when in actual fact I’m in on it all along.

“I’m just winding everybody up because everyone thinks they’ve figured it out. I feel like I’m on some secret mission!”

He cheekily quipped: “It’s going to be really good, really scary. I’m going to test my acting skills today!”

Kieron revealed the truth about the hilarious moment, which saw him looking red-faced and leaving the This Morning sofa, as it was hinted that it was all a ruse.

This Morning soap writer Sharon Marshall told the ITV hosting duo Holly, 36, and Phillip, 54, that Kieron “might have been acting”.

“I saw a video of him before that interview and he said ‘I’m going to be acting, and pretend I’ve made a slip-up,” she explained to the pair.

The revelation shocked the pair as Phillip exclaimed that Kieron should get an award for his dramatic performance.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
