We’re heading back to the ritziest part of Los Angeles in the upcoming film “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” the long-awaited fourth entry in the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise. The first one came out in 1984, starring Eddie Murphy as a police officer who heads to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of his best friend. It spawned two sequels; “Beverly Hills Cop II” in 1987 and “Beverly Hills Cop III” in 1994.
Also starring in the film was Paul Reiser (“Stranger Things,” “Mad About You”), who played the character of Jeffrey. Though Reiser didn’t make it into the third film, he’ll be back for the fourth, along with Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, James Preston Rogers, and James Aviel.
Reiser is also starring in the new sitcom “Reboot,” about the cast of an early 2000s sitcom that is getting rebooted with the original actors. The new series premiered on September 20, 2022, with its first three episodes. /Film’s own Ethan Anderton spoke to Reiser and co-star Rachel Bloom about “Reboot” and asked him about the upcoming “Beverly Hills Cop” film.

Reiser was asked about reuniting with Eddie Murphy for the fourth film in a series that has spanned almost four decades. Reiser joked that he tries to “help Eddie out whenever I can and to boost his career. So it’s an honor.” The “Stranger Things” star also had something to say about the fact that Eddie Murphy looks pretty similar to when the first movie premiered, saying, “I was finally glad to see that he actually didn’t quite look 23 anymore. It’s like, a year ago, this f***ing guy looks exactly the same.”
I mean, he’s not wrong. Reiser also reminisced about the amount of time that has passed since the first film. “We were chatting,” Reiser said, “and I remember, I was at his 21st birthday party, which was at Studio 54, or whatever Studio 54 became. And now, we’re in our 60s, even Eddie’s in his 60s. I’m like, ‘That’s a long span. We’ve been doing this a while.'”
Maybe it’s best not to think about how long it’s been since that first film. Reiser even joked about meeting up again and “jarring names out of our brains that have not been uttered for 40 years.”

As Reiser was talking, Bloom looked up some pictures that leaked from the set of “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” including one of Reiser in sweatpants. When she found them, he said he was glad it was a picture of him walking. “It wasn’t like picking my nose or whatever.” He explained that he was supposed to be driving in the film and was told that no one would see his legs or feet.
Who among us hasn’t gotten up during a Zoom meeting and forgotten that they were wearing penguin pajamas or something? Stars, they’re just like us!
Bloom got in on the conversation as well, saying that she’s in a new “Rush Hour” film. She joked, “It hasn’t been announced yet, but I play a gun … boom, boom, boom.” To be fair, if anyone could pull that off, it’s probably Bloom!
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” is directed by Mark Molloy with a script from Will Beall. We’ll keep you updated on all the developments. Meanwhile, the first three episodes of “Reboot” are now available to stream on Hulu, with new episodes every Tuesday on the platform.

]]>On Monday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c), Genevieve Padalecki reprises her role as Ruby, when the “search for the one thing that may give the Winchesters an edge against God leads Sam and Dean to Jo’s (guest star Danneel Ackles) door and to a secret that may have died with Ruby,” per the official synopsis.
Below, the tight-lipped Padalecki teases Ruby’s “scary” reunion with Sam and Dean, and opens up about what it was like to return to acting while being a full-time mom to her three children with Supernatural leading man Jared Padalecki.
TVLINE | I know death doesn’t mean the end on Supernatural, but it has been 11 seasons since Ruby died. Did you think you would ever get to play her again?
I think I was always really hopeful, especially after coming back in “The French Mistake” and having so much fun. I was always hopeful that I would get the opportunity again to come back and play Ruby. I don’t know if I expected it, but I was definitely keeping my fingers crossed.
TVLINE | Was it something that you talked about with Jared or the producers over the years?
No, but I think around the time after “The French Mistake,” I always made it known that when the show was coming to a close or if there was a certain story plot or storyline, I would always love to come back. The show, for me, personally [and] selfishly, has always been such an important part of my family that I always wanted to be a part of it in the end. I always made that known to the producers and Jared and everyone. So I felt really grateful when there was an opportunity for me to come back.
TVLINE | How did it feel to be back on set as Ruby? I’m sure you’ve been back on set in other capacities over the years…
It was really cool. It was really special. It’s definitely a different feeling coming on as my husband’s wife and saying “hi,” in his work environment. [It is] a totally other experience when you’re stepping on the set as a character, and seeing people in a work environment and feeling part of the crew and the team. So that is such an exciting feeling. I really enjoyed being on set. I love to work, I love acting. So for me, being able to have my family and have three kids and then be able to jump right back in and start working in this capacity, I couldn’t ask for a better scenario. It was a dream come true for me. It was a lot of fun, and I just definitely felt like I jumped right back in and I was part of the team again.
TVLINE | What did you miss most about playing Ruby?
I missed her kind of grit and darkness. And I missed how she can be a bit of a badass and a little bit conniving. She’s got an agenda. I think Gen, myself, can be a little bit like, “Let’s look on the bright side!” [Laughs] I’m scatterbrained at times, so I love that she’s focused on the prize. I just enjoyed stepping back in those shoes. Plus, she always gets to wear high heels. I don’t get to do that often anymore with three kids, so that was fun.
TVLINE | Since it’s been so long since we’ve seen Ruby, what can you say about what she’s been up to in that time, and how she’s changed or not in that time?
That’s a tough one, because I don’t want to give too much away in terms of when you see her. I think that you’ll definitely see her badass [side], the demon character that she plays and the toughness and stuff. We’ve seen vulnerability in different ways from her, and I think you’ll see a little bit of that as well. So that’ll be an interesting change.
TVLINE | We do know that she sort of re-enters the picture through Jo. Do Jo and Ruby have a history as an angel and a demon?
You’ll have to find out! [Laughs] But I think you’ll definitely be able to see how they’re similar and how they’re different, and how they kind of play off of each other, and you can kind of make your own assumptions from there, I guess.
TVLINE | Did you and Danneel campaign to have a storyline together? Or was that pure coincidence?
No, that was actually a coincidence, which was such a great situation for us, because we’re so busy with our kids. Even though we live so close to each other [in Austin, Texas], I feel like getting to spend the episode with her was such a gift. We don’t get to hang out as often as we’d like with our busy schedules, so that was super fun.
TVLINE | We don’t really know what Ruby’s feelings are at this point about God. Is that something that’s explored in the episode?
I think she’ll definitely be part of the storyline, and I know that God’s a big arc. So I think she’ll play to that. I think you can make judgments either way. I don’t know if it’s as black and white.
TVLINE | Ruby was a very clever demon who manipulated Sam for a long time to free Lucifer and was an enemy of the Winchesters. So would she even want to help them out, if she had the resources to?
I feel like everyone’s now doing it. She was the OG, who was like the original “I’ve got a plan, I’m sticking to it, and I’m not going to apologize for it.” Now everyone seems to be following suit. I don’t know. I think if there was an agenda involved, and she can see the goal, especially in dire times, I think she would go for it.
TVLINE | The Winchesters and Ruby did not leave things on a nice note, to put it mildly. Last time we saw her, they killed her. Is there anything you can tease about what the reunion looks like between them?
The reunion looks… scary. [Laughs] No, I don’t know. I think she is in dire straits. I don’t want to say too much about any reunions. Just wait and see. [Laughs]
TVLINE | Sam and Ruby, obviously, have a complicated relationship. Do you think that she still has maybe some deeper feelings for him?
I’m sure she’ll always have fond memories of the relationship. I would think that even though he betrayed her, I think she understands that in a way, because she probably would have done the same thing. So I think she’ll probably always have fond memories of him.
TVLINE | One of the fun things that the promo teased was that we’re going to meet a Sam and Dean from another world. Did you get to witness Jared and Jensen [Ackles] playing these other versions of Sam and Dean while you were on set?
I didn’t get to be on set, but I got to FaceTime an awful lot, and my children had a lot of fun seeing their dad dressed up in this alternate universe. They thought it was pretty funny and were asking lots of questions about the set stuff. We’re definitely trying to get our middle son to rock that man bun.
TVLINE | You mentioned that you love acting, and you love being on set. Did this episode spark a desire in you to do more acting in the future?
Yeah, definitely. I’ve been a full-time mom, and I’ve been running a blog, which has been so fun and such an amazing creative outlet. But to get back on set and to actually be working as an actor again definitely ignited a creative spark in me that I absolutely hope to pursue a bit in the future.

Leonard will appear in the season’s third episode (airing Monday, Oct. 7) as Shamus O’Malley, an avid sports fisherman. In the Claire-centric installment, the third-year resident “faces complications at home and at work as she prepares to lead her first surgery,” while the rest of Melendez’s team tends to Shamus. He is rushed to the hospital following a fishing accident that challenges them “as they look to treat his injuries without damaging his prize catch,” according the official logline — and as seen in the first-look images above and below.

The Good Doctor previously welcomed fellow House vet Lisa Edelstein for a season-long arc as Glassman’s oncologist Dr. Marina Blaize. There are no plans to bring her back at this time.
Since his eight-year stint as House‘s Dr. James Wilson came to an end in 2012, Leonard has recurred on TNT’s Falling Skies and the NatGeo miniseries The Hot Zone. Additional TV credits include episodes of The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
As previously reported, Jasika Nicole, who plays Shaun’s love interest Carly, has been promoted to series regular ahead of Season 3. Meanwhile, original cast member Tamlyn Tomita, who plays San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital Board chairwoman Allegra Aoki, will now be recurring.
The Good Doctor returns on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10/9c on ABC. For more intel on Season 3, check out TVLine’s Fall TV Preview Spectacular.

However divided the Star wars fanbase might be, everyone loves the maverick who plays Luke Skywalker. Hamill has endeared himself to fans with his obvious love for the franchise, his witty social media posts and his rather transparent views on the latest movies in the franchise. One of the biggest criticisms levelled at the Sequel Trilogy was the failure to reunite the original ‘Big Three’ on screen one last time. Fans know Leia will still appear in Episode 9 thanks to unused footage, Luke is expected to return in flashbacks or possibly as a Force Ghost and recent rumours claimed Han Solo would also make an appearance.
Hamill tagged a recent social media post: “Thanks for finally reuniting Han, Luke and Leia, Kansas City Zoo – It’s much appreciated!” and fans wasted no time once again opening fire on The Last Jedi, Disney and Lucasfilm.
The comments poured in along the line of: “At least they did something that Disney failed to do…” “They did what 20,000 morons with 400 million dollars couldn’t.” “Sensing a bit of shade in this tweet. And I wholeheartedly approve.”
Unsurprisingly, there were also digs at Rian Johnson, director of the hugely divisive Last Jedi.
Sure, Hamill was commenting on a family of otters, but the man knows by now how his posts will be interpreted. He has become a Jedi master of the indirect.
Hamill’s entire thread was inspired by the post from Kansas Zoo announcing the first appearance of three adorable otter pups.
Naming them after the iconic Star Wars characters was a canny social media move, boosted immeasurably once Hamill got involved.
Fans are still aggrieved over the perceived lack of respect or even screentime given in The Last Jedi to acknowledging Han Solo’s passing. Many expected a funeral scene or some form of emotional catharsis.
STAR WARS 9 LEAK: IS AN ACTOR BEING CAST TO PLAY YOUNG LUKE IN FLASHBACKS?
JJ Abrams is known to love flashback scenes, so the remains hope he will find a way somehow to bring the three original heroes together for one final fan-pleasing moment.
Until then, at least fans can go and see their namesakes at Kansas Zoo…
STAR WARS 9 IS OUT ON DECEMBER 19

The Green girls are back together once again.
Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are set to reunite after appearing together as sisters in Friends to star in a TV series about the world of morning shows. It’ll be a return to the small screen for Aniston, who made her name and won an Emmy for her role in Friends, and another notch in Witherspoon’s new career as a prestige television actress after her Emmy-nominated turn in Big Little Lies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aniston and Witherspoon “are attached to star in an untitled series exploring morning shows and the larger New York media scene that they inhabit.”
The project is an original idea from former HBO head of drama Michael Ellenberg, with House of Cards‘ Jay Carson attached to write the script and executive produce. Steve Kloves, who was nominated for an Oscar for Wonder Boys, is also set to executive produce. In addition, Aniston and Witherspoon are also listed as executive producers.
The premise sounds oddly antiquated — who really cares about morning shows anymore after Morning Glory bombed? — but it does give us the prospect of a Witherspoon and Aniston onscreen reunion after Witherspoon’s hilarious and too-brief stint on Friends as Rachel Green’s “spoiled” sister Jill. Jill appeared out of the blue to stay with Rachel after being disowned by their father, and Rachel takes her under her wing to help her adjust to the real world. But after Jill goes against Rachel’s wishes and attempts to seduce Rachel’s ex-boyfriend Ross, they have a falling out and Jill abruptly leaves after two episodes on the show.
Witherspoon never appeared on the famous sitcom again, even when she was Rachel’s “favorite” sister. According to various (unsubstantiated but juicy) rumors, Aniston and Witherspoon feuded on set, cutting Witherspoon’s six-episode appearance short, leading to Christina Applegate to be cast three seasons later as Rachel’s other sister, Amy.
If true, it seems that Aniston and Witherspoon have patched things up enough since then to star in and executive produce a TV series together. Now that Aniston has dabbled in the movie industry and made a decent living in mid-budget comedies, she may be looking to rejuvenate her career a la Witherspoon, by appearing in a prestige television series. But for some reason, a “series exploring morning shows” sounds less prestigious to me, and more along the lines of the flurry of sharp behind-the-scenes comedy shows like 30 Rock or Studio 60 on the Sunset Trip that populated the networks during the mid-2000s. But I look forward to what these two funny, former Green ladies have to offer us on the small screen.

To those who may be mourning the absence of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss‘ modern adaptation of Sherlock, here’s some good news. No, it’s not that more Sherlock episodes are on the way (although further installments still remain a distant possibility in the future), it’s that the pair of writers will reunite for a new TV show centered on a different character from classical literature: Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire Dracula. Read on to discover everything we know about the new show so far.
Variety reports that Moffat and Gatiss will also reunite with Sherlock producer Sue Vertue and her Hartswood Films for the new show. The show is still in the early stages – no scripts have been written yet, so no casting choices have been made – but the BBC is, predictably, interested in broadcasting the show in the U.K. as it did with Sherlock.
The new show will follow the same format as Sherlock, delivering a miniseries run of feature-length episodes, but it’s unclear whether the show will be set in modern day or be a period piece in keeping with Stoker’s 1897 novel.
Moffat is perhaps best known for his work writing and producing Doctor Who and Sherlock, but there’s one other project on his resume that may provide a hint at how he’ll handle Dracula. The writer worked with Vertue’s Hartswood Films on a fun 2007 miniseries called Jekyll that was a modern retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Check out the trailer:
So along with Sherlock Holmes, Moffat already has experience with another major literary character under his belt. He seems to have a knack for bringing old characters into a modern setting, so I’d put some decent money on Dracula taking place in 2018 (or whatever year it happens to be released).
Gatiss was the co-showrunner of Sherlock and is also an actor, having appeared on that series as the detective’s brother, Mycroft Holmes, and popping up on Game of Thrones as a Braavosi banker named Tycho Nestoris. Variety points out that Gatiss has previously expressed his love of Hammer horror films, and he singled out praise for Peter Cushing’s performance in Dracula.
Hardcore fans out there inspired by Sherlock Holmes to attempt to piece together the mystery of what Moffat and Gatiss’s new take on Dracula might be like are now armed with all of the knowledge we know about the show. Good luck, and godspeed.
